Eventful first week. Making good progress. Setup Tent: VIVOSUN Horticulture 48"x24"x60" (2' x 4') LED Light: Phlizon 900W LED Plant Grow Light Ventilation: VIVOSUN 6" 440 CFM inline fan w/ VIVOSUN carbon filter Pots: VIVOSUN 5 Gal. fabric pots Medium: Soil // Nature's Care Organic and Natural Potting Mix Water: pH balanced distilled water Nutrients: Advanced Nutrients PH Balance Micro, Grow, & Bloom Update 4/15/19: Adding some detail. As the title suggests, this is my first grow. Live in an apartment, so going with a 2x4' indoor tent and 1000w LED. I have zero experience and have killed many a plant, but I'm feeling pretty good about this after the amount of research I did beforehand.

Those lovely leaves :) :) :). I had an issue on day 9 where the soil loosened up quite a bit at the top of White Widow causing it to fall over. Once I added some more soil to give the stem some more stability, worked great. Picked up some nutrients this week to be ready, but planning on starting at the third set of leaves. - AN Perfect PH Micro, Grow, and Bloom - General Organics CaMg+ The CaMG+ is preventative, cause of the soil. ---- During a full watering I noticed that I'm starting to see some healthy looking roots through my clear plastic cups. Both plants' root systems have reached the bottom of the cups. Will need to start prepping the 5 gallon fabric pots soon.

Gave first nutrient feeding. 150 ml of the solution combined with distilled water. Transplanted them to its final 5 Gallon fabric pot. Probably could have waited a bit longer, but didn't seem stunt the plant.

- Re-adjusted the LED to approx. 14 inches once again. That seems to be the sweet spot. Any closer and I get leaves curling. - Micro-topped the White Widow. Starting to grow its 7th-ish node. - Second nutrient feeding, 250ml of the solution above. - Bah. Broke a stem when I was trying to take a picture. Should be alright, but I'm annoyed. - Starting to develop a slight smell. Not strong.

Should I be concerned about the "hole" damage in "White Widow - Day 28 - Damage"? No bugs, checked everything. I've read that this type of damage can be a consequence of microtopping, which I've recently done. Other than this leaf, the plant is very healthy.

The plants are looking strong and healthy, perhaps the hole could be just from growers damage, i had a few holes in plants from clumsy fingers or sheers. If you don't see any other activity it may not be bugs and just a small beauty damage. Happy growing. ✌️

-> First day of week 5, first day of LST. -> Very pleased! The micro-topping paid off with little delay and I have what appears to be 2 main stems! -> Adding 1ml/l of CaMG+ to the regular waterings, in addition to the 1ml/l in the nutrient mix.

-> Last week of veg. Will get one more veg feeding before switching for flowering nutes. -> Last nutrient watering in veg. Picked up Advanced Nutrients: Big Bud Liquid nutrients that will be used Weeks 2 to 4 of Flower. -> Defolitated, and she looks great! Was a little sad the day of pruning, but perked up beautifully the following day. -> Update 4/18/19 - Lights went out at 12:00am today. Will come back on tomorrow, 4/20/19, at 8:00am on a 12/12 schedule. That's a 32 hour dark period before flowering.

Really starting to show some great signs of early flower. From weeks 2 (this week) to 4 I'll be adding 'Big Bud' every 3 watering's separately from the nutrient feedings. The schedule of watering's has worked out to be: Distilled Water -> Distilled Water + Big Bud -> Distilled Water + pH Perfect Nutes (Repeat) Now that I'm close to the recommended nutrients 4ml/l I really notice the plant reacting to the feedings. I suspect I could have introduced nutrients a little sooner than I did. Week 8 is in the books. No issues to report. Added about 2 inches this week, and lots of pre-flower development.

Not many updates this week, just getting back from a business trip to Denver, Colorado. Snapped that picture on the final day of Week 9. They were watered halfway through the week with the Big Bud/Distilled Water mixture, so they were pretty thirsty on day 7. Loving the flowering. Starting to see some nice crystals under the microscope, and although weak, the iconic Cannabis smell.

She shrank in the diary because I'm starting to tuck them under the net mesh. 16" -> 14" I'm always so impressed when I look at the difference between the first picture of the week and the final picture of the week.

Start of week 11. Continuing with full recommended nutes. I"m happy I stepped up the dosing until now as I've had zero issues with overfeeding. If anything, I've probably underfed for a bit of flower, but I'll take the hit on the output for a healthy flower cycle. A lot of the pistils have started or are already quite orange. Will have to take a peak at the trichomes when I get a chance. I think I'm looking at another 3 to 4 weeks to harvest though which is about the expected 8-9 week flowering time. Added 1/2 tbsp to the 2 litres of distilled water for today's feeding. Looks like a little magnesium deficiency in several of the lower leaves.

Starting to see a couple of amber terpenes here and there so I suspect I'm within about a week of harvest. These last several weeks have been really quite tame. I'm happy I'm starting my next round!

Cut and drying. Will be back for a complete review and some learning points. ---------- 4 days into drying -- I was really worried that I wouldn't be able to maintain a high enough humidity for a slow dry, but everything appears to be progressing nicely. Should be complete dry around Day 7-9 of the dry. 😅 ---------- Final Update: Overall, I'm pretty happy with my first ever grow. I ended up with about 60g of dry weight plus trim. Really enjoying the smoke, and expect it to get better through cure. I'm getting a piney/earthy taste, not very harsh. Major dry mouth is the only negative that I found. I learned a shit ton, so here are some of the key things that I'll be modifying in my next grows. - I could have started nutes earlier then I did, and probably could have upped the doses. I started at a 1/4 dose out of precaution as suggested, but I was pretty slow to increase doses. - I believe I was dealing with Mg deficiency for most of my grow, so will be going a more natural route this time around and picked up some Epsom Salts (Magnsium Sulfate USP <-- This acronym means it was testing for human use). Sulfur is a mineral that helps Cannabis metabolize Nitrogen. - I really messed up LST. I had no plan here and I think that's what messed up. I ended up LSTing my main stem too late in the game. This time around, I'm cropping at the third node and will LST those shoots accordingly. - I'm going to try and determine nutrients by PPM, although, what I'm noticing is that most nutrient companies don't seem to factor this in. - I'll be transplanting into the 5 Gallon pots later then I did in this first round. The root growth could have been better and that may have stunted this growth a little.

You can really see how I messed up the LST, hah. I'm pretty happy overall! I was worried about humidity a little but during dry, but ended up with about a 7 day dry period before the tiny little stems were snapping.

Looking great 😎👍🏼. I have a question if I may, please? The PH Perfect 3 part nutrients... I will he using those on my next grow. Do you follow the chart amount of nutrients to use or do you go by PPM or EC? Thank you 👍🏼
Churppy
Churppycommented6 years ago
@Puffer_Bill, howdy! Admittedly, I haven't been tracking PPM as well as I should be but my last nutrient feed was about 660 PPM. Definitely not following the chart on the bottles for fear of overfeeding as this is my first grow. I started at 1/4 strength doses and am up to 3/4 strength doses. I will finish weeks 5/6/7 of flower at full strength, and flush the last two weeks. At least that's the plan.

Hey man not a bad first grow at all! Looking really good! Once you start growing you can't stop 😎 Enjoy buddy

@Kiewil1, thanks buddy! Appreciate the comment. Yeah, I've got a lot of "lessons learned" that I'm looking forward to implementing in my next grow, but focused on making sure that this flowering stage goes as well as possible 😬 I was only two weeks in and already thinking about another tent (Veg/Flower), hah. I'll have a problem before I know it. 😂😅

Your leaf stemp start to show first signs of mag def. I quess you are overfeeding her, air temp too high, if you keep bombarding with nutes she will lockdown if it havent happend already .. Good luck, realy nice plant, just dont push him ;)

@AsNoriu, interesting on the overfeeding, I'll keep that in mind. It's going to get it's second dose of CaMg+ tomorrow which should help.

My last 2 pennies in your grow ... Ph in soil should be inbetween 6.3 and 6.5 That is a MUST. ph + good soil + good genetics = all we want You see that formula doesnt need even nutritions, yeah girls will starve a bit, but if all above is kept right all the time, 80% of your sucsess is already done ... GrandMasterLevel google that guy. He had constant calmag problems with his plants, till he finally raised his ph to 6.3 And the raise was from 6.2 .... ;)))))))) Good luck !
Experimentgreen
Experimentgreencommentedweek 46 years ago
The plants look good, possibly try scouting the bottoms of leaves and the main stem and soil area. You could try some sticky traps and a magnifier to check for ones not so easily seen. Hopefully it won't be any bugs milling around. If its a pest inside the plant i think more leaves would be affected.✌️

P.s. when she is so thick i hope you do LST before watering her ..
