They starting to show brown pistils, the finish is near. Temperatures are rising steadily so my housemates sometimes close the curtains to keep out the sun. My plants don’t like it, and to my dislike they forget to open them when they leave the house. Ah well, it’s what happens in a setting like this.

Grow Questions

The plants are now placed in rows, not on the windowtill but behind & below. This means that they’re: 1. Growing towards the window once again 2. Have parts of them barely exposed to the sunlight. What do I do? Do I let them grow how they want to? Should I trim away some leaves?

Hey, I grow on the window too, and in the summer I'm out for the day in the sun, they grow well, only the yield is a little lower. At home it is better that the plant does not attack as many pests as outdoors. Outside it also threatens pollination from some distant plants. Put them on the sill in one row only. They will always bend behind the light, it doesn't matter. Leaves do not remove leaves until they are more blooming, and then only the lower ones, withered or large, which shield the buds and cover the flowers. Also, because of the more light it is good to put under the pots and behind them, a film reflecting light. I use a thermal insulation foil used by rescuers. :-D Stick it to the box and you have a handmade growbox: -DD

I will likely (based on feedback of auto growers on Reddit) be able to harvest in 4 weeks, which is around the June20th. The June26th I’ll be on 12 day trip, so if I want to let them dry for atleast7 days, I won’t be able to jar nor burp them. Should I postpone harvest 3 weeks?

Hi mate thats easy harvest the day before you leave and hang them in a dark airy spot until you get back They should be perfectly dried . I think a lot of people dry their weed too fast or not enough before jarring and beginning the final curing process. A nice slow dry of 10-15 days is ideal Hope this answers your question

Hello @SlimShimey, or should I say MacGyver? 😂 You better not postpone the harvest, you will highly increase the risk of mold / late pollination / various issues...Plus, you will get a couch-locking weed, probably full of seeds. In this situation I would find a way to slowly dry the buds. I think I would harvest on time when the trichomes are almost all milky and let the whole plant upside-down for 3 weeks, without trimming it all but just removing the main fan leaves. This way, the plant will dry really slowly, and you should have a nice product in the end. Hope this will help, let us know how this goes, and happy growing! 👊

Hi! Harvest them and leave them with enough air to dry in cardboard box. They dry slow won't get mold and when you get back they'll be just fine. Three weeks postpone is too much. This for future I saw this old one Happy growing!.

Iam using windowfilm for stealth reasons, its great, plants get light, but noone discovers whats behind, your goal is to give them as much light as possible. so i just would go with one row. And there is no need for leavetucking atm...maybe later.... happy growing

@Mrs_Larimar, I’ll probably try that for an eventual second grow! Thanks for the response :)

Something about my grow: 5 girl scout cookies auto 1 jack herer auto 1 diesel auto (which exact strain is a mystery, it was a free seed) They are currently germinating in my parent’s house, but the moment they are potted I will likely ship them to my apartment My style of growing will be very laidback; I do not have lamps, no tent, no fan, no carbon filter. It is a first grow and I am very curious to what the yield will be. I will put the plants, as soon as they are all at least 2 cm, in their 6.5 litre pots. The only care they’ll get is the Dutch sun, tap water and I have some nutrients for when they start flowering, although various forums told me to not do that with auto flowers. Two Girl Scout Cookies plants will be shipped to a friend of mine as soon as they can be put in their pots. The remaining plants will be put on my windowsills. In the Netherlands five plants are allowed but the moment someone complains or the police can see them from the street they will confiscate and destroy them. That may prove a problem for me, as I live in a busy shopping street on the first floor above a telecom shop. The plants will receive the most light when I’ll put them on the windowsills at the side of the shopping street, and so I will. Furthermore, those windowsills are in the living room so rip my roommates haha. To be continued

@Stick, hahah, you can call me either! I'll post a big update later but I harvested little over a week ago! The trichomes were mostly cloudy, some milky and little over half of the pistils were brown and curled in. So they could have gone a week or two more but my landlord scheduled an inspection and I had nowhere to put the plants, nor have it dry in that location. I thought let's harvest them 3 days before he came in, so the smell would fade away haha. I also decided to harvest at night, as I live above a telecom shop, bakery and clothing retail store. I'm so lucky I did that, holy hell that smell was pungent. I have never ever smelled something that intense. Sad thing is that I very underestimated the workload hahah, the first plant took me little less than an hour, the fourth and last plant I harvested took 30 minutes. The fifth plant was nowhere near done and I got a very big suitcase and gave that to a friend. I did a wet trim and put all the buds on a layer of wire mesh in shoe boxes. Those boxes I transported by car for 45 min to my hometown (rip, my car smelled of weed for 4 days). There I put them in a little toolshed, with the top off and not in direct sunlight (but it wasn't dark). To make my stress even worse, the Dutch weather gods decided to make the outside temperature 30+ degrees Celcius (86+ degrees F). So while the neighbours were chilling in their back-garden, adjacent to mine, I had to open the shed from time to time to check on my buds. Whilst my family had a good laugh about it, I hope to not have bothered them with my hobby. After 5 days of that intense heat my buds were almost overly dry. I jarred them and the dry weight came to a measly 20gram for 4 plants. To my defence: the buds look f'ing amazing. They are now curing for almost four days. The first days the smell seemed to have gone away, but now it is coming back. The weed smelled like tea at first, but my family still swears by a heavy cannabis smell coming from the shed when I go out to burp them. Thanks for your extensive reply, I will try to do that my next grow! Keep around for pictures!

Hi, Do you know how long it took for the jack herrer auto to pop up her head? I planted a JHA seed directly in soil without germinating it between 2 papers. It has been 3-4 days now and she still didn’t show her head.. or do I need some more patience? :)

@SlimShimey, she just popped up :) 2 fresh green mini starterleaves. Patience is the best when your growing lol. 👍

@SlimShimey, day 4 now.. i didn’t use paper towels.. also directly in the soil. But it’s in a 20L pot. I will have some more patience :) Good luck!

@CoastGrower, it took 5 days for me, although I potted them in germination pots instead of between papers. Have patience :)

I hope they will get ready in 3 weeks but I doubt it.. can’t somebody you trust burp uour jars? Always sad to harvest to soon. Good luck 👍

@SlimShimey, that wouln’t be ideal.. rather harvest to soon than no harvest at all.

@CoastGrower, I problem could find someone but I don’t want to put that burden on anyone. It also means I’d have to move it all out of my house halfway the drying period probably
