Gamfin I'm really exited to start yet another grow for the outdoor season. I have some FastBuds strains in my fridge and I chose Apple Strudel because I want to try some serious apple terpenes with a leaning on the sativa side of effects! I only heard great stuff about this strain.
I used the glass of water method for germination, as always. The seed opened after approximately 12 hours but I waited another day until I planted it in an EazyPod. The seed popped out of the EazyPod after just 24 hours.
The vegetation time starts for me when the support leafs are folded up and the first leafs show themselves.
Can't really talk about the genetic since FastBuds does not share what is in their crosses. Which is unfortunate and I do not like this approach because when it comes to breeding, everyone should be transparent so that we as growers and consumers know what to expect.
A strain that should be similar to this one is Apple Ztrudel from THCTitan (Robin Hood Seeds and Square One Genetics). That is Apple Fritter crossed with Runtz. So I guess that in Apple Strudel from FastBuds, Apple Fritter should also be part of since that cut is notorious for its sweet, sour apple terpenes.

Gamfin // Day 1
The little seedling opened itself up and looks healthy. Let's start this new adventure :)
I am going to plant it in the upcoming days into an 11L (3gal) pot with BioBizz Light Mix, because I still have it lying around here.
I pray for good and stable weather. My other outdoor plant (Z x Sherbanger AUTO) is really small because of the bad weather in her first 2 weeks of life. I hope that this plant will have more luck!
// Day 3
Planted her in the 11L (3gal) pot and watered it with 0.5L of water with root juice to moister the soil around the seedling.
// Day 4
Looks healthy. Is already part time in the sun, but with an humidity dome above her. Air is too dry for such a small seedling.
// Day 6
Got 0.5L of water with early nutrients. Good progress despite having bad weather for 2-3 days now.

She does a good job. She enjoyed her first 2 days outside. We had some sun so she was able to grow a little bit. Intensity was not strong, with is good in her stage. So I'm confident that she will develop beautifully in the upcoming weeks. The weather should be really nice.
// Day 9
Got 0.5L of water again.

Progress. Got her first nutrients yesterday, on day 13. Small and a little bit stretched but the weather is very nice so she should get enough sun. I think it's the absence of wind in the last days but she will be fine.
// Day 16
Got 2L of Water today with nutrients and a little top dress with light mix because the soil sunk a lot since planting her.
// Day 19
She starts to put energy into the side branches. Overall, she could be taller and grow faster. But I can only work with what the sun is gifting me.

I really do like her structure. She stays small with vigorous side branch growth. Quite the opposite to the Candy Fumez (AUTO) I am growing. Other than that, nothing really to share. Weather could be much better but that's just a gamble at this point.
// Day 25
Got 3L of water with nutrients today, pH in the range of 6.4.

She has really started to stretch a bit. At least a couple of cm in the last days which is a lot considering her small, bushy genetics.
She needs no training what so ever, the side branches are just getting along really nicely.

I'm baffled by her structure. This is the cleanest plant I have grown, very beautiful spacing when it comes to side braches. Beautiful length on them too and no flowering! 6 Weeks of veging for an autoflower is phenomenal. I cannot wait to see what she evolves into!

Got 3L on 41. Still no flowering, this plant is absolutely stunning and will be a monster for sure! The structure es absoluetely perfect. No training or defoiliation needed. I'm amazed by this genetics!
// Day 45
Got 3L again. It is very warm and sunny outside. 30+ degree celsius and sun all day. This will continue in the upcoming week, which is perfect for flowering!

Got 3L again. It's very warm, that's why she is drinking that much. The sun really does her work, she streteched enormously in the last 2 weeks. Flowering has begun!
Did some small lollipopping and defoliation today. No smell and trichomes yet. Very sativa leaning grow characteristics I would say, minus the vigorous side branching.

The plants are drinking a lot. Need to feed them every 2 days at least, with 3L. The sun hours are really kicking in. She is extremly vigorous and strechted a lot. It is the talltest plant I have grown, no doubt. Did some lollipopping by removing half of the bud sites on each side branch.
Other than that, there really is nothing to share. Because it's an outdoor grow, I have the usual problems with thripes and leaf mites but nothing extreme. Just removing them here and there and sprayed some leaf coat. That's probably why the infestation is not that serious.
// Day 61
This plant is absolutely insane. She thrives in the summer heat, her bud sites grew enourmously in the last 5 days. She is truly an monster and even tho I lollipopped her stems almost to the half, she will be the best yielder of all my grows FOR SURE. I hope that the lollipopping let's her grow very dense buds. So that not only the quantity will be insane but also the quality will be top notch.

Gamfin // Day 72
She is getting there. Buds slowly start to bulk up. But she still has a least 3 weeks in her pockets. What a long, fudging grow this is, especially for an autoflower plant. She is vigorous and enormous tho!
She got her first feeding since 4 days ago because the weather was bad for 2 days straight. Which means that she didn't drink as much as she normally does. I also kept her inside to not take any risks in flowering. By that I realised how much she reeeeeeeeeks. Like really, sometimes when you grow on the balcony you don't really get the stankyness from the plants since you have so many different smells ouside. But shit, when she was in my room for 2 days, she perfumed the whole apartment.
Otherwise, nothing really to share. Her progress is steady, it's simple cruising in this stage of cultivation.

Gamfin // Day 78
I put her inside. I know, that's cheating, but I do not care right now. The weather will be abyssymal in the next days and I do not want to keep her just in my room at the balcony door because she stinks amazing, but I can't let her stink up the apartment. And she is pretty late in flower, I really want her to work on the buds, let them thicken up and I just want to enjoy the outcome in the end. This grow is already incredibly long for an autoflower and she still needs 2-3 more weeks, when looking at her bud sites. I don't want to harvest trash buds after investing 3 to 4 months into a plant. If the weather is good again, she will be back outside. If the weather is trash with rain all day, I'll keep her in the tent.
My main concern is her bud development. The sites are huge but the calyxes are just not fattening up. You can see it in the pictures, they're very airy and overall not "sexy" looking, if you know what I mean. I hope that she finishes nicely since this grow went amazing so far. She is an absolute unit and I want her to finish perfectly. Let's see how she developes in the next 14 days. With 78 days, this plant is very old, but I've seen autoflowers getting harvested after 90 days or even 100 days. So I will just keep calm for now and I try to enjoy the last 2-3 weeks of her grow life.
// Day 83
She is bulking up nicely. Unfortunately, I needed to remove 1 headbud from a side stem because I saw spider mite webbing... I hate that. The other buds seem clean, in general does this strain have not many pests on it. But they managed to set up a little camp in there so I removed the whole top bud of the side branch.

Gamfin // Day 85
I started to give her only water + CalMag at the last watering. That was 3 days ago and today I gave her water + CalMag again. No nutrients anymore, she still has plenty, which you can see by her green leafs. And she is still drinking a lot, which means that she is not near to be done. No fade on her what so ever which is really sad, I was looking forward to some nice colours at the end of flower. It's day 85 already, she does not look ready at all. I'll give her 2 more weeks max., after that I just chop her down no matter how she looks. I go on vacation and want her to dry during that time. I cannot let her stay in the tent when I am gone so that's her last chance. Hopefully she finishes during the next 14 days.
For the ones who missed it: I removed a head bud from a side branch because of spider mites. I catch some here and there on the leafs but did not spot another camp yet. Hopefully it stays that way and they're not well hidden inside bud sites. That would be a catastrophe. I'll do a bud wash of course but I doubt that you can flush all their well hidden web-camps out, if more of them exist. Let's just hope that I am lucky this time.
// Day 88
Got 3L again, just plain water. No CalMag, no pH adjustment, just hard H20. She does not need anything anymore at this point of life.

Gamfin // Day 91
She is getting there. The buds ware not fattening up as much as I wanted to but her trichomes are almost all cloudy and a very low minority is amber. So I guess I give her 2-3 more days and cut her down on friday or saturday. This time I try out the bro science: Befor cutting, I'll let her stay in the dark for 48h. So maybe I turn off the lights tomorrow until friday and chop her down.
The bro science hypothesis is that the not ending darkness will give her a last stress which boosts trichome production.
|| Edit: I‘m not here for bro science, so I am not doing that shit
// Day 94
Those are the last videos and pictures from her.
I chopped her down today. Since I need to do a bud wash (spider mites, outdoor grow), I can't hang the plant whole. So I cut the stems into as big pieces as possible and washed them with deluted hydrogenperoxide. I hanged them into the tent and try to dry them as long as possible.
@Kirsten, thank you, I really appreciate the comfortation haha
It's fascinating how some autoflower plants can just need as long as photoperiodic plants
