3/26 Hello and welcome to my grow diary. I will be growing Black Sugar by Seedsman. THC on this strain is known to be greater than 20%. The genes come from Critical x LA OG x Black Dominica. I’ve always had amazing results with Seedsman. I am growing 2 plants. They will be in grown in 3 gal coco coir. I will be using regular Advanced Nutrients ph perfect trio. During vegetation, I will be using a 125W viparsepctra. During flowering, I will increase it to 250W. I plan on vegetating for about 4-5 weeks. Wish me luck ✌️✌️✌️
4/2 Slow start for her, unfortunately, I had to let go of the other one because she was growing slowly. I am debating if I want to grow her in a 2x2x4 micro scrog grow in a 3 gal air pot or if I should grow her among the other 2 Green Gelato plants DWC in a 4x4x7. Currently they are getting 2x50w COB light and a small ventilation fan attached on the top of the grow tent. Today i've given her first dose of nutrients with some beneficial microbes.
4/3 So I decided that I will do a micro grow series on the side with this plant. She will be growing in a 24in x 24in x 48in grow tent. I will use 125W initially during vegetation and then add 2x50W COB lights during flowering (they will be put below the canopy). I've transplanted the baby into a 3 gal Air Pot (it'll stay till the end) and put a 125W Viparspectra in the grow tent and removed the 2x50 COB (it'll be back once I put the plant into flowering).
4/8 Welcome back guys! We have transitioned her into a 3 gal air pot. I know she will grow slowly initially but I am okay with that. Again, this is a micro/experimental grow. I am really loving Seedsman's genetics because they seemed to grow very well and have hardened genetics.
4/10 Gave RO water and elevated the PPM to 500.
4/16 Good week, she's picking up in growth. I've topped her once and now LST. I plan to vegetate her for about 2-3 more weeks before switching to 12/12 and adding another 100W (to the walls) LED. Temperature is holding amazingly, still 75F during the day with 45%RH. She's loving the nutrient strength at 500PPM at this time. I've watered her today. She takes about a gallon when it's dry but this is about once every week, when the top soil gets dry.
4/23 Good week. I gave some feeding now today and hoped the ppm to 550 and defoliate her. I’ve been training her vigorously and I think I will put her into flowering in about a week or so.
4/30 Hello folks! Good week! She's growing flawlessly. I am thinking about flowering her next week after a final defoliation. I fed her with nutrients today. Once I put her into 12/12, I will use scrog net to further train them.
5/6/19 Final defoliation, watering, and light schedule switched to 12/12 today. I switched the light to R300 Viparspectra as well to boost growth during flowering by using more red spectrum. Strict scrogging and LST will be implemented from now on. Other than that, she looks really really healthy.
5/8 moved some stuff around, I changed my mind and am now using a 200 w crew/cob led light in a 2x4x5 grow tent.
When you guys turn the plants into flowering, do you guys continue to tuck the plants under the scrog net during the stretch or do you let it just grow vertically? Thanks!
I'd adjust them vertically. Open the canopy up by pulling branches away from each other. Everything looks on point to date. 👍 Don't really need to tuck anything away. Being that you are in the first week of flower you could also still selectively defoliate the plant until around week 5 to increase the bud sites. Looks great 👌
5/13/19 Smooth week for the last 7 days. I kinda changed things around a little bit. I ended using a 200W LED COB/CREE lights in a 2x4x5ft grow tent. I also made a DIY scrog screen perfect for her size. You can make 2 of these for less than 30 dollars from amazon. Every day I've been tucking these branches under to distribute an even canopy and I think it's going quite well. I am debating if I should defoliate her just once more before she fully focuses on flowering. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks!
5/20/19 Hello and welcome back. Man! She smells so good! She finally showed her pistils this week (thank the Lord). SCROG net is doing its job very well and I am happy with that. I think I will continue to tuck these branches down for another week and I will stop along with a final defoliation (haven't fully decided yet). I am growing Beets, Carrots, and Green onions in the garden.
5/27/19 I defoliated and lollipopped the plant today quite heavily and this will be the last time doing so. She looks kinda sad from it and I am sad a bit sad too. I also watered her today as well. Other than that, I am happy to say that I see no nutrient deficits nor toxicity as of yet.
6/3/19 Smooth week and no issues reported. I believe she's done stretching and is now focused on budding. I hope I make this right. I love the flat canopy and I don't even need a scrog net anymore which is amazing. I've upped her nutrients by 50 ppm, from 500 to 550. Indoor temp remains great at 78F during the day and 74F at night.
6/10/19 Smooth week, no problems. I am feeding her once or twice a week, she drinks about 1 gallon to 1.5 gallons of water. She is very bushy and compact, which is exactly what I was looking for initially. I took the SCROG net off as she is done with stretching a long time ago. Home stretch from here hopefully. Thanks for watching!
6/18/19 Hello and welcome back. She is getting more frosty day by day! I love how I trained her, I think this is the best training yet small plant I've ever grown. She also smells really really dank and pungent. I've stopped defoliating her and have been tucking the small fan leaves downward away from the bud sites. Water wise; I am having to water her about once every five to seven days but each watering, she drinks about 1.5 to 2.0 gallons of water. That is a lot. Welp, I hope it's worth it. The way it's looking, I'll be able to score about 2-3 oz. I will flower her about 2-3 weeks and then will harvest.
6/25 Things are looking very well. The buds are thickening and the trichomes are glittering. They STINK! I gave 1 gallon water/nute feeding today and this will be my last feeding. I will flower one more week and then start flushing the plant.
7/1/19 Today officially marks the 8 week since I switched this baby into flowering. Let me tell you, this girl straight up smells like Gorilla Glue, but I mean the actual GLUE! Not the PLANT. It was extremely pungent and sweet but the smell hit me and made me lightheaded initially, it kinda made me somewhat nauseous. I am not sure if that is a good thing or not lol. Starting today, I will flush her initially using FloraKleen with 2 gallons of RO water.
7/3/19 Flushed her with 5 gallons of RO water at 25 PPM with FloraKleen @ 10ml/gallon.
7/6/19 Final 48 hours in the darkness.
7/7/19 These are the last pictures I've taken before chopping them down. She was so fun to grow and I wonder what the yield would be. I am thinking about 2 oz at the most, hopefully. When I decided to take some pictures, our cats decided to come and join us. They really like cannabis leaves for some reason. At least I know that the animals are willing to eat it and are okay afterwards, telling me cannabis is safe to consume haha. I will be chopping them down tonight but will take me about another week for drying and final weight.
7/12/19 This was my first extreme micro grow. She was not even 8 inches tall. She had an even canopy which is exactly what I've wanted. I've learned a lot about LST and SCROG during this grow and I've also learned how to lock in my nutrients right.
The plant was very easy to grow and she handled whatever nutes or training I've thrown at her. Very impressed with the smell and resistance to heat (avg 79-80F). Total weight was 42.2 grams. Taste report to follow
