Week 1, concluding the first week of vegetating, Spliff.
Hi(gh) guys! One big plusside about the new growtechnique is that there is a lot of space left inside my tent. And because next to my Scroggmaster 450, I also have a Scroggmaster 360, it’s not difficult to try and take profit from that facts. With the current B.B’s it looks like I’m able to book some nice results, so this round I’ll try to further build on that.
I will give these Spliff baby's much TLC and hope to deliver on those budporn photo’s in a few months!
Please tune in on Sundays to see the progress,
Grtz, Budcrack ;-)
Week 2, concluding the second week of vegetating:
Hi(gh) Guys,
Doing fine over here. There’s a little bit of damage to the set of first serated leaves, this is due to the plastic bottle’s they had over them for a almost a full week. The metabolism kickstarts that way, all right, but sticking to the side of the bottles damages the leaves. Got to find a better solution for that, soon.
Let’s see how the’d grown next week, see you then?
;-) Grtz, Budcrack ;-)
Week 3, concluding the third week of vegetating:
Hi(gh) Guys,
Better late then never… Busy, busy week! Doing ok for the third week, plant A has a nice shape to work with, plant B is a little short. The leaves are drooping, I think because they got a shower one hour ago. When they grow a little bit bigger they must look much more promising then they do now, but I guess they need a bit more time. And I’m sure everything will be A-ok!
I look forward to see you next week,
;-) Grtz, Budcrack ;-)
Week 4, concluding the fourth week of vegetating:
Hi(gh) Guys,
There you have it! Didn’t I say it? Two proud little plants, just as planned. Ok, they don’t grow as amazing as those Honey Cream’s do, but for a 4 week old plant they look great! There is no doubt in my mind that I’m going to enjoy some nice little walks over the surface of the moon in a couple of weeks, wait and see ;-)
I look forward to see you next week,
;-) Grtz, Budcrack ;-)
Week 5, concluding the fifth week of vegetating:
Hi(gh) Guys,
This strain grows more like an OG, stretching the internodes and not showing much activity inside the beginning branches. Well, that stretching is put to a halt because they are also topped. Also are the lowest branches, matching the early leaves removed. Each plant now has 8 remaining side branches, which I hope are going to stretch much further the upcoming week.
I look forward to see you next week,
;-) Grtz, Budcrack ;-)
Week 6, concluding the sixt week of vegetating:
Hi(gh) Guys,
This long internode became a problem with both plants. I’d chose to lose that part and go along with two plants with 6 branches per plant, but with perfect size. This shows that not every strain is the best match for my growing method. Luckily there are two perfect sized plants left after the corrections resulting in very nice base for training these plants. Best match would be a strain that grows lots of branches from the get go, instead of stretching from it.
I look forward to see you next week,
;-) Grtz, Budcrack ;-)
Week 7, concluding the seventh week of vegetating:
Hi(gh) Guys,
This weekend the Moonwalkers where in need of another tie-down. After before trying to tie with wool, I came across 4mm thick plant tie. Only this has a thick soft flexible outside. This works great! Another problem solved. The idea is to fill the entire top surface of the plant pot with thick buds, so first all the branches need to reach the edge of the pot, there they need to grow up for a little bit. After that, the lower branches need to grow past the upper ones. So the grow-tips from the upper branches need to be prevented, temporarily, to grow further. Here I will use wool again to ponytail the grow-tips, because there I better not try to use plant tie.
When all branches are at the same height, and they are strong enough to support themselves, and the plants stopped stretching and started flowering, then the mainline-adapters can go. What is left to do after that is to position the branches to where you want them. I found out that placing tension using Nico-rolls (yo-yo’s) on them for only 24 hours locks the branches in that position. So within a few days you can adjust the position everything to your taste. So, by the time they are into flowering all the above things supposed to be done.
It looks great, they are beginning to release a really nice scent. Beautiful shaped leaves and thick side-branching, this all looks promising and I hope to turn it into another successful grow.
I look forward to see you next week,
;-) Grtz, Budcrack ;-)
Week 8 concluding the eight week of vegetating:
Hi(gh) Guys,
So, almost catching up with my week reports, here the last update. Pony-tailing time! I’d tied down the grow-tips that can wait for the rest to catch up. When every branch reaches the desired level I will remove the wool again. The tips from the pony-tailed branches can spread open again, so then I use an extra piece of wool to close it. Some leaves that were previously pony-tailed can stay a little wrinkly. But the method is fairly low-stress, and really works. The Moonwalkers look very promising. I hope they don’t stretch to much going into flowering but that has to wait for a couple of days.
I look forward to see you next week,
;-) Grtz, Budcrack ;-)
Week 9 concluding the ninth week of vegetating:
Hi(gh) Guys,
Ponytails removed, the lower branches did grow quite a bit. The Moonwalkers get a bit more space than the strain from my other diary, so there is no need for them to fit within the space from the top of the pot. There are also quite a few offshoots from the main branches, which I’m going to leave on them. I’m planning on removing underdeveloped branches who don’t get enough light, but for now everything looks good.
I’m going to switch them to 12/12 tonight. The moonwalkers stay under the blue LED’s for two weeks. Last grow it looked to me that this helps to speed up the entire schedule a bit, and I think I’d read something about that too. But also the slightly warmer conditions above the other lamp speed up metabolism. It could help a bit, but since the moonwalkers need 9 weeks flowering time, and the other grow only needs 6 or 7 weeks, there will at least be 2 weeks during flushing that the moonwalkers are alone in the tent.
I look forward to see you next week,
;-) Grtz, Budcrack ;-)
Week 10 concluding the tenth week of vegetating:
Hi(gh) Guys,
The Moon Walkers got their haircut a day later than the Honey’s, only they are now on 12/12 for a full week and they show flowering. But also for them I’m going to count flowering by the coming of next week.
These girls are going to be a problem since they grow like bamboo. It’s going to take some creativity to keep them in check to be able to fit into the upperdecker position. We’ll just see how this goes…
I look forward to see you next week,
;-) Grtz, Budcrack ;-)
Week 11 concluding the eleventh week of vegetating:
**Update 9 june - MW1 grow's like bamboo, yesterday adjusted the height and this morning she'd grow against the lamp again. Well, if it can't go with the plan, the plan has to change as it goes. This means for MW1 i'd remove all the fan leaves to stop stretching any further. The beginning bud's will grow their own leaves to grow bud from.
I did some minor adjustments to MW2, but i hope it won't grow against the lamp also. Tomorrow flowering is official, so i hope they stop growing soon and focus on delicious medicine ;-)
Hi(gh) Guys,
Last vegetating week, next week flowering! Actually, the Moonwalkers are already into flowering. But I hardly ever need less time to finish properly, so those couple of days are no biggie on the long run. So I’m going to count flowering together with my other grow, starting from Monday it’s the first week of flowering for both.
Now these stretchy ladies are a bit of a challenge to keep in check, but I managed to so far. At one point while tying down the main branches the whole thing measured up to almost a meter, and was shaped like a bow. Now where a week further and it’s shaped like a harp. This week the main grow tips grew against the lamp a few times, happy stretching! And that’s genetic stretching, sure not the lights to blame. But I’d tie the branches down every time. Also removed unwanted branches and leave. To get rid of the length of some secondary branches, I’d tie them into hoops against each other. All in all I’d manage to get this far, and maybe tying down the main branches again won’t be a problem. Let’s see how the stretching goes next week, and if that stalls I can put them on top of my other grow, proper upperdecking! ;-p
I look forward to see you next week,
;-) Grtz, Budcrack ;-)
Week 12 concluding the first week of flowering:
Hi(gh) Guys,
Tweaking the height must now be coming to an end. Next time, if I have a strain like this again, I think I know a better way to be able to keep the monster in check. For now I succeeded in collapsing the plant into an compacter size. That is, if you spot branches with a small piece of plastic straw, tied with two pieces of plant tie, then you know what happened!
They are taking their new position as the first genuine upperdecker-project after the trial last grow. These past two week where interesting. Doing thing always seems to make me realize better ways, nice to make progress.
I look forward to see you next week,
;-) Grtz, Budcrack ;-)
Week 13 concluding the second week of flowering:
Hi(gh) Guys,
Yesterday (23th of June), an heatwave started and it looks that it stays at least for a week. For the neighbors downstairs (the Honey’s) temperature is under control. Keeping temperature down, at least below 30 degrees, is not possible. But remember, last time I’d notice some unexpected effects from their unholy position; The entire cycle seemed to shorten for at least two weeks earlier, probably due to temperature causing a higher working metabolism. Also last plant stayed underneath the blue grow lights for two weeks longer. This time they stayed for almost 2,5 week, at least until I was done with the others. The upperdecker’s get 250ml of water without nutrients every day, apart from the normal nutrients and watering. Sitting on top of the other lamp the roots are also warmer than normal. There is extra cooling from two high-output computer-fan’s, but they need the extra water to survive. This is the first heatwave while growing this way, so time will tell how this plays out.
I look forward to see you next week,
;-) Grtz, Budcrack ;-)
Week 14 concluding the third week of flowering:
Hi(gh) Guys,
Well, the heatwave actually was a heat-day, luckily for Mary-Jane. But you’ll know how it is, better safe than sorry! The Moonwalkers are doing fine, for the upcoming week I’ll remove the support on the other plants, but I must see that the moonwalkers are able to support themselves before doing the same. Because of the heavy training on these plants they probably need a little support to keep in shape, but I’ll see what I can do. Also curious if the kinked branches are healed underneath the pieces of plastic-straw.
At least they now just look very good! And because they have a little while before harvest I think the bud can grow nice and fat. I hope the nice strong smell translates into a nice taste.
I look forward to see you next week,
;-) Grtz, Budcrack ;-)
Week 15 concluding the fourth week of flowering:
Hi(gh) Guys,
This’s going to be a diary the way they should be. Not much to report, everything fine. These plants smell really strong, and they need at least 5 more weeks to finish. There are nice buds already and I think by the end the buds are awesome, nice one Spliff seeds! Can’t wait to put on those moon boots!
Last report I’d make some comments on what’s to come, I expect the Moonwalkers to be ready around the eleventh of August, maybe a bit longer.
I look forward to see you next week,
;-) Grtz, Budcrack ;-)
Week 16 concluding the fifth week of flowering:
Hi(gh) Guys,
This week I’d make 3 different photo moments, and last Sunday also some pictures of the trichomes. Although I’d made the photos on Sunday, my schedule didn’t allow the post to be updated until today, so sorry for the late update!
These are smelly buggers! If you’d only brush past them with your hand a strong odor releases. And they still need four weeks to finish, so I’ll expect the smell to become even stronger. My carbon filter already had a cycle before this one, and the smell is notable outside the tent. Luckily they don’t produce the strong smell all day, but in the morning it’s definitely the strongest.
When the Honey’s finish, the Moonwalkers have the tent for their own. Then they can land again on solid ground, ditching their upperdecker position. But it’s really cool to grow vertically!
I look forward to see you next week,
;-) Grtz, Budcrack ;-)
Week 17 concluding the sixth week of flowering:
Hi(gh) Guys,
Trichs! This cycle moves fast! Three weeks to harvest, yesterday mixed my last can of nutrients for the upcoming 2 weeks. I’m planning on flushing for a good week and then harvest.
There’s two 5 liter can’s left for 1,5 week of feeding the last of which contains a dose of Ultimate PK. This product lasts even longer than the C4 because you only use it a short amount of time. I now have maybe a fifth bottle left. The Vitalize is the most costly product, with 250ml costing almost 50 euro’s, but you only need a small amount each time. The Mills C4 is now empty, I’d had a 500ml bottle but I must say that it last a good number of rounds. It must have been 7 rounds within the 80x80cm tent. Next round I’ll be testing Green Buzz Liquids, so there is no need to open a new bottle of C4 for the upcoming round. So I’d moved all of the Mills into the fridge upstairs, that way it lasts longer. Do shake every other week then to prevent a film forming on the bottom.
The last two weeks I’d pushed the Moonwalkers with the nutrients, but they take it well. The buds started fattening up and that’s a real good sign. Compared to last week’s trichomes, they’re luckily producing allot more resins now. Broke of a little bud last week, so I’ll get to have a sneak preview soon, can’t wait! ;-)
I look forward to see you next week,
;-) Grtz, Budcrack ;-)
Hi(gh) Guys,
Magic Mushrooms!! That is, they appeared like magic in the pot. This is the first time mushrooms popped up, in the other pot popped also one. What does it mean?
Two week’s left, in theory because I’ll let the trichs decide. This upcoming week I’ll push some more with the nutrients, I’d maybe made a bit too much but I needed to empty the C4, and there is a final dose of Ultimate PK included. Last week (next week) flushing and harvesting at the end of it.
And did I mention Europe was flooded with absurd high temperatures this week? That was fun since my little Homebox S is at the attic, and there was virtually no wind and the temperature outside reached more than 40 degrees (Celcius) a couple of days. Today everything is back to normal, but I was busy with bottles of ice to try and cool the plants a little bit.
MW1 is the best pheno not only judged by the trichomes, but also the heavy stinkiness and the thick buds growing on top of course. MW2’s production is slightly less but certainly not bad. Really curious what these two Moonwalkers will yield in the end since they can fatten up a lot more in two weeks.
I’d got too sample a little bud from MW1 that broke off. The taste and effect is certainly there, I’ll guess this is a nice strain to put on a nightcap and start counting little sheep-clouds. ;-)
I look forward to see you next week,
;-) Grtz, Budcrack ;-p
Week 19 concluding the eight week of flowering:
Hi(gh) Guys,
Moonwalker Kush goes through flowering in 63 days, but I think that they’re going to need a week extra. Today they got their last nutrient solution, also emptying the last container I’d premade two weeks ago (and saved inside the fridge). I’ll let them dry out for the upcoming couple of days, and then I’ll start flushing. Next weekend I’ll check again on the trichomes, but for now there’s too much clear ones and too few amber ones. I’ll wait until they’re potency is at the highest, I’m already waiting so long, so another week is no problem!
Since the plants moved down a level, I’d use some of the yoyo’s to support a couple of buds that grew too heavy and where hanging like apples. Hence the strange shape of the plant.
I look forward to see you next week,
;-) Grtz, Budcrack ;-)
Week 20 concluding the ninth week of flowering:
Hi(gh) Guys,
I’m really lucky this summer! The temperature is very stable this week, and apart from one hefty heatwave a few weeks back, the rest of the summer was a bit of a dud! Not good for sunbathing, very good for urban agricultural activities. That at least is what made me decide to skip my planned two month retirement and steam on to the next project, that’s already is three weeks on the way. Time to make room in my tent.
The moonwalkers are going steady. Last Tuesday flushing started. I’d had to make some adjustments since the bud is getting so heavy that some branches started hanging of so much that they could knack. The big buds from MW1 were already hanging from the yoyo-rolls, they look gorgeous! The top leave’s bleached for a big part, this is not due to shortages or reaching the end of the cycle, but due to the time they stood very close to the lamp. The bud isn’t affected by it but this strain is sensitive to heat or light stress. Other than that this strain produces very odorous sticky heavy tasty buds! Yummy!
The trichomes are just right now, all white and coloring amber on some parts. They have another three days to ripen, and then it’s done. I look forward to a nice harvest and i look forward to see you back for the harvest report, and my new project is also online,
;-) Grtz, Budcrack ;-)
This concludes the Spliff’s Seeds Moon Walker Kush grow with a very nice harvest. This is actually my second Spliff’s Seeds grow. Back in 2015 I didn’t had the skill, but Spliff’s Strawberry Cough was the first plant I’d grow ever back then resulting in produce that wasn’t usable. The Moon Walkers are luckily very usable! I had lots of fun collapsing the plant with a lot of training into a more compact shape to fit the ‘upperdecker’ position. It was the first time for me doing something like that, and while there is room for improvement next time, it was very educational. The Moon Walkers reacted good to training and the end product is very resinous and odorous, the bud grows into small foxtails glistening with resin. Thanks to everyone supporting my work and special thanks to Spliff’s Seeds for this great strain. My next grow is already online, growing Larry Bird Kush from Zamnesia. Please come back for the Strain’s final report and dry weight! Grtz, Budcrack ;-)
