Welcome back everybody! I’ve got some good news.
I’m so excited because Sensi Seeds asked me to test their new strains. The project is called Sensi Seeds Research, and they basically breeded some of their best strains with other ones, both new and old, and planned to release some of them in the future. They still don’t have a name, and they come just with a number and their lineage description. Our mission is to test them, and then find a suitable and interesting name for each.
So, there are many autos, some high CBD feminized strains, and 4 high THC ones. In the end I asked to send me these 4, which are:
Sensi #11: Blueberry x Afghani x Silver Haze
Sensi #32: Silver Haze x Fire OG (OMGGGGGGG)
Sensi #140: Chocolope x Hindu Kush
Sensi #741: Sour Diesel x Afghani
Sooooo, I planned a 4 plants grow in 9L Air Pots. I’ll mainline them in Nebula style in order to get 8 big colas each, and I think we’re gonna laugh here because some of them are more sativa than others, so just think about their stretch when flowering starts. As you may know the Silver Haze is favorite strain, so my hype for the Silver Haze x Fire OG is endless!!!
SETTING
It will be a soil grow. I’ll start with 1L Air Pots, then transplant to 3L ones, and finally to the 9L ones. Biobizz Light Mix for the germination and Canna Bio Terra Plus for the rest of the grow. For the germination I added a layer of Xtreme Gardening Mykos 1cm under the seeds, and but will use Mykos in every transplant too.
I’ll be using Biomagno nutrients line, starting from 1/4 of strength from day 14 to day 28 (from sprout), increasing to 1/3 after day 28, and possibly 1/2 on very hungry plants. But I’ll go very soft because I don’t strains. Less is better, so I’ll always be able to add more if needed.
I’ll try to water with osmotic water or rainwater only in order to avoid killing mycorrhizae and other organisms. I still have to figure out if I’ll use a pH meter and correct pH each time. I’d like to try without.
I’ll grow in both veg and flower with my 600W Cree CXB3590 COB panel.
I’ll use the same tent I’ve always used: Mammoth Pro 100, 1x1x2m (3.3x3.3x6.6ft).
LET’S GO!!!!!
Day 1 (April 10, 2019): Planted the seed directly into the soil.
Day 6 (April 15, 2019): Sprout day! It’s been a little cold inside the grow box.
Day 7 (April 16, 2019): Switched on the COB panel. Double-sun power!!
Sensi #32 is growing well. She’s the tallest of the 4, and sometimes she sweats too (there’s a photo that shows this)! 💦
Day 15 (April 24, 2019): I decreased light distance from 130 to 100cm. Some leaves are curled up because RH is low (around 40%) while temps are quite high (around 30C).
Day 18 (April 27, 2019): First feed @ 0.5ml/L.
This is a very interesting week!
After mainlining, I transplanted the lady into a 3L AirPot, adding 3 spoons of Mykos by Xtreme Gardening, 45g of BioMagno Algae and 5g of BioMagno Neem Flour. I uploaded a time-lapse video that shows the process.
Then I fed her with the nutes you see above this comment, in 1L of water (actually, 750ml would be better).
I hope you liked this week content!
Day 28 (May 7, 2019): 0.5L of tap water with Activator @ 0.5ml/L and Rizostimo @ 1ml/L.
Wow I love how she's growing. My super personal favorite between the 4. Next week I'll top to the new 2nd node and over the 3rd, in order to get the final 8 colas structure.
Day 34 (May 13, 2019): 0,5ml/L of Crescita, 1ml/L of Activator and Rizostimo in 750ml of tap water.
Slow growth this week. I guess she didn’t like mainlining at all. I think I need to give more nutrients because she looks like too much light green. In the meantime, with some Biomassa (CalMag) @ 1ml/L, now she feels so much better and I can’t see CalMag deficiencies anymore.
She’s very bushy and healthy. She’s my favorite. I love her. She doesn’t have so many roots coming out from the bottom like the #11, but it’s impressive to see how fast she sucks all the water you give her. 😅
Unfortunately this week I was busy and had to take the photos with my phone.
Day 36 (May 15, 2019): Decreased light distance from 100cm to 70cm.
Day 39 (May 18, 2019): 2nd node removed and topped over the 3rd one.
Day 41 (May 20, 2019): Feed with Crescita and Activator: 0.5ml/L, Rizostimo and BioMassa: 1ml/L. ~750ml of water each.
This is the last (hard) training week! Next week I’ll transplant her into her final 9L pot, then wait a little, and finally switch to 12/12.
Day 45 (May 24, 2019): I bent down almost every branch, then fed following the linked schedule. I added more roots stimulator because I’d like to create a better root base before the final transplant into the 9L AirPot.
Day 49 (May 28, 2019): Heavy defoliation keeping only the last nodes, then fed following the same previous schedule.
Earlier this week I transplanted her into the 9L AirPot. Now that I don't have to train her anymore, I just need to wait until she's 40-50cm tall, and then I can switch to 12/12. In this project I'm aiming at 8 long colas for each plant.
She has a wonderful, harmonic and symmetric shape at the moment. She's quite compact, which is not a bad thing. But you know, this is Silver Haze x Fire OG. I mean... I remember the Silver Haze stretch, so I wouldn't be surprised if she started stretching like a wild sativa. But since I didn't give any nutes since the transplant day, next week I'm gonna give her some! I just started giving some silica because in the room it's quite hot and this could help her survive in this environment. I have a big fungus gnats infestation, and I'm waiting to receive a pack of Mosquito Dunks by Summit, which should be super powerful to destroy those fuckers. By the way I took some interesting photos of some glomus (intraradices?) coming out of the bottom of the AirPot. Beneficial fungi for the roots! This is a sign everything is running smooth out there. See you soon fellas!
Silver Haze x Fire OG is really on fire!! She's beautiful with a structure of a hot chick, but..... what about that leaf in the photo? She's been developing these mutations on some leaves, and they're not that sexy. There's like 1 or 2 on every big branch. That apart, she's looking and doing fine. She loves nutes too. What a satisfaction! This week I added nutes back, but just once. Last week I had a big gnats infestation, but Mosquito Dunks worked like a charm. No one left! Niiiice!
This is her last veg week. Just a heavy defoliation before the switch to 12/12 that I'll make on the first day of week 12. At the beginning of the week applied some foliar B-52 and Nirvana @ 0.5ml/L, then some more after the big defoliation I did at the end of the week, this time inside the watering solution, @ 2ml/L. She's stretched a lot this week!
Flowering has started! This week she started her flowering stretch: from 46cm to 58cm. Not so aggressive, but she's developing really well. On day 84 (end of the week) I spotted the first flowers: they're still in a primitive form, but I love that they're there already. The only bad thing about this strain is that mutation that keeps repeating on some leaves. Also, mainling shape for her degenerated a little because some branches have been pressed against the wall for too long.
This week I watered twice: the first time with flowering nutes by BioMagno @ 1ml/L, the second time with just B-52 and Nirvana from Advanced Nutrients. Just some experiments, so I can see how they react alternating different (but always good) food.
I can tell you every one of them reacts to that B-52 + Nirvana cocktail by raising their leaves to the sky like they are praying, so yes, it's actually a very powerful cocktail!!
Took a while for this update because last week I lost my camera's battery charger. Finally we can see the first flowers! Everything good, she's still stretching, and she loves these organic nutrients. Someone on IG supposed that leaves mutation could be tobacco mosaic virus (TMV), but I think it's just a mutation because it's not spreading around the plant, and to the other plants. I'll do a big defoliation by the end of this week.
There we go! I love weeks 3. They always remind me of the ScrOGs I did in the past... the first flowers, the end of the stretch period... plants finally pushing all the energy to their flowers: yeah baby!!!!
At the beginning of this week I did the last big defoliation. Many lower flowers were covered by fan leaves, so I removed them. I also got rid of some lower bud sites that would have never received enough light if I kept them. As you can see, everything is clearer now. Unfortunately I didn't get the circular shape I wanted with her: one of the main branches has been growing with a different, slower pace, so now it's shorter. Since last week she's gained 4cm only: this means her stretch is coming to an end, and she can now put all her energies into flowers development.
I'm alternating Biomassa and Florastimo, one week each. Biomassa has CalMag inside, Florastimo has some other good stuff like vitamins, amino acids and algae.
Have you seen how many fungus gnats I've trapped? Fucking fuckers. Mosquito Dunks didn't work properly: it's better to use it by spraying it on every AirPot's hole, instead of using it inside the water solution.
This week I made a total mess with nutes, basically using a lot more than needed. The biggest mistake was with Big Bud, which increased PPMs like crazy (other than being the only one inorganic in my solution). Result: burned tips. My pH pen also did some damage because it wasn't properly calibrated. Lol. I'm already trying to fix everything.
In reality this is not a bad move, because I'm also here to test the strains. For example, Sensi #140, which seemed to be more sensible to nutes than others, this time appreciated this crazy mixture and not even one tip was burned.
Her flowers are slowly fattening. The smell is quite different from the Silver Haze's original one: that one was fruity, this one is more dank.
Oh my. Last week I was talking about N deficiency, but in reality she was perfect!
The real big problem was my pH pen, that was broken, and when I thought I was giving a pH 6.5 solution to my plants, in reality the pH was a lot lower than that (maybe pH 4). That's why her leaves all started getting yellow!
Runoff PPMs right now, after the feed, are 3280 lol. I decided not to flush her, but I'll give just water until that value decreases a little. Her flowers are bigger, and also smell dank. Like I said last week, definitely not the fruity smell I remember from the Silver Haze.
A few weeks ago I fixed the LST structure, but I possibly pulled too hard and destroyed the main base of the plant! There are two photos showing you this. But she didn't even notice it. Niiice!
Week 7, big flowers and another big defoliation in order to get even bigger colas. You know how long it takes to clean up all those lower popcorn buds, right? Because I do, and this month I’ll not have any time to do that. So... I removed them. All of them. And kept just the bigger ones.
As you can see, this lady is almost totally naked right now. Aw yeah!
Her 8 main colas are already quite big, and this defoliation should make her focus only on them. One week left? Maybe two? I don’t think a lot more. I’ll be start checking trichomes very soon, and you too with the high quality photos I’m uploading. Stay tuned!
For a moment last week I thought her buds could be at the max size they could reach, but this week I can say that thought was wrong. She finally started fattening up her main colas, and the smell is changing too, shifting from dank, to a more fruity smell that I love. And it finally reminds me of Silver Haze. This makes me so much happy!
At the beginning of this week I fed for the last time after a water-only week, then on last day of the week I started flushing. I flushed with 30L of tap water (pH corrected to 6.5), that is around 3x times the capacity of the pot (9L). I got a runoff consisting in ph 6.7 and 710PPMs.
I'm really curious to see how much more her colas will grow before I chop them down. Trichomes are mostly milky, but she will take a little more, possibly two weeks. See you next week to discover something new!
FLUSH FLUSH FLUSH!
Buds are big, but I don't think they've reached the max size. Trichomes are on the way to get 100% milky, but I want some amber too before harvest. Let's wait a little more!
This is last week for this super sativa hybrid! Trichomes are on spot (all milky and some amber). Many yellow leaves are getting crispy and dry, so she's saying she's ready. Yay! I chose not to try a sample bud because I felt like I needed to wait until she's dried and cured properly. I think I can do this!
