Welcome back everybody! I’ve got some good news. I’m so excited because Sensi Seeds asked me to test their new strains. The project is called Sensi Seeds Research, and they basically breeded some of their best strains with other ones, both new and old, and planned to release some of them in the future. They still don’t have a name, and they come just with a number and their lineage description. Our mission is to test them, and then find a suitable and interesting name for each. So, there are many autos, some high CBD feminized strains, and 4 high THC ones. In the end I asked to send me these 4, which are: Sensi #11: Blueberry x Afghani x Silver Haze Sensi #32: Silver Haze x Fire OG (OMGGGGGGG) Sensi #140: Chocolope x Hindu Kush Sensi #741: Sour Diesel x Afghani Sooooo, I planned a 4 plants grow in 9L Air Pots. I’ll mainline them in Nebula style in order to get 8 big colas each, and I think we’re gonna laugh here because some of them are more sativa than others, so just think about their stretch when flowering starts. As you may know the Silver Haze is favorite strain, so my hype for the Silver Haze x Fire OG is endless!!! SETTING It will be a soil grow. I’ll start with 1L Air Pots, then transplant to 3L ones, and finally to the 9L ones. Biobizz Light Mix for the germination and Canna Bio Terra Plus for the rest of the grow. For the germination I added a layer of Xtreme Gardening Mykos 1cm under the seeds, and but will use Mykos in every transplant too. I’ll be using Biomagno nutrients line, starting from 1/4 of strength from day 14 to day 28 (from sprout), increasing to 1/3 after day 28, and possibly 1/2 on very hungry plants. But I’ll go very soft because I don’t strains. Less is better, so I’ll always be able to add more if needed. I’ll try to water with osmotic water or rainwater only in order to avoid killing mycorrhizae and other organisms. I still have to figure out if I’ll use a pH meter and correct pH each time. I’d like to try without. I’ll grow in both veg and flower with my 600W Cree CXB3590 COB panel. I’ll use the same tent I’ve always used: Mammoth Pro 100, 1x1x2m (3.3x3.3x6.6ft). LET’S GO!!!!! Day 1 (April 10, 2019): Planted the seed directly into the soil. Day 6 (April 15, 2019): Sprout day! It’s been a little cold inside the grow box. Day 7 (April 16, 2019): Switched on the COB panel. Double-sun power!!

Sensi #741 is the most developed in terms of leaves and nodes, but for the moment she’s quite short compared to #32 and #140. Day 15 (April 24, 2019): I decreased light distance from 130 to 100cm. Some leaves are curled up because RH is low (around 40%) while temps are quite high (around 30C). Day 18 (April 27, 2019): First feed @ 0.5ml/L.

This is a very interesting week! After mainlining, I transplanted the lady into a 3L AirPot, adding 3 spoons of Mykos by Xtreme Gardening, 45g of BioMagno Algae and 5g of BioMagno Neem Flour. I uploaded a time-lapse video that shows the process. Then I fed her with the nutes you see above this comment, in 1L of water (actually, 750ml would be better). I hope you liked this week content! Day 28 (May 7, 2019): 0.5L of tap water with Activator @ 0.5ml/L and Rizostimo @ 1ml/L.

Oh shit! I think she's slowly fixing this calcium deficiency since I'm now always using tap water, but many leaves are affected and the look of the plant is terrible. By the way she's got the fastest growth rate: maybe a little too fast compared to her sisters. Since I'm aiming to have the same shape and final height for everyone, this could be a problem in the next weeks. By the way, next week I'll top to the new 2nd node and over the 3rd, in order to get the final 8 colas structure, and will integrate with some Biomassa (CalMag) @ 0.4 EC for 1/2 times. Day 34 (May 13, 2019): 0,5ml/L of Crescita, 1ml/L of Activator and Rizostimo in 750ml of tap water.

Whoa. What a fast growth pace for this strain. she definitely loved mainlining and I think that may be Sour D genes! I think I need to give more nutrients because she looks like too much light green. In the meantime, with some Biomassa (CalMag) @ 1ml/L, now she feels so much better and I can’t see CalMag deficiencies anymore. And she was the one with more CalMag problems. But even if she’s the biggest and most developed, I can barely see roots coming out from the bottom. She’s the opposite of the #11. I don’t know why! And that’s probably why she takes so long to suck all the water, compared to the others (#32 especially). Unfortunately this week I was busy and had to take the photos with my phone. Day 36 (May 15, 2019): Decreased light distance from 100cm to 70cm. Then 2nd node removed and topped over the 3rd one. Day 41 (May 20, 2019): Feed with Crescita and Activator: 0.5ml/L, Rizostimo and BioMassa: 1ml/L. ~750ml of water each.

This is the last (hard) training week! Next week I’ll transplant her into her final 9L pot, then wait a little, and then switch to 12/12. Day 43 (May 22, 2019): I bent down every branch because her growth rate is impressively fast compared to her sisters. Day 43 (May 22, 2019): Feed following the linked schedule. I added more roots stimulator because I’d like to create a better root base before the final transplant into the 9L AirPot. Day 49 (May 28, 2019): Heavy defoliation keeping only the last nodes, then fed following the same previous schedule.

Earlier this week I transplanted her into the 9L AirPot. Now that I don't have to train her anymore, I just need to wait until she's 40-50cm tall, and then I can switch to 12/12. In this project I'm aiming at 8 long colas for each plant.

She's quite short! Do you remember her in the first weeks? She was the ones running faster with long branches too. Now yes, she's got long horizontal branches, but she's growing slowly. She's the shortest of the group, and I have to be careful giving her nutes because she may not tolerate them. If you remember, some weeks ago, giving the same quantity of nutes of the others, I overfed her and all the tips of the leaves got yellow and white. Next will I'll try with a low dosage of base veg nutes. I'll switch to 12/12 as soon as Sensi #11 reaches 50cm, and I'm a little worried this #741 could not reach even 40cm by that day (which is the minimum height in order to get big long colas with mainlining). Fingers crossed!!!

Slooooow growth like always this week. Her leaves are soon small, but it's fun because they're basically very sativish leaves in a very small plant. Not something you see everyday. I think now she can handle nutes more easily too. I only had to wait for some more leaves development before adding nutes some weeks ago. I'm still forwarding by a constant trial and error with all of them by the way. This week I added nutes back, but just once, even because she doesn't tolerate them so much. Last week I had a big gnats infestation, but Mosquito Dunks worked like a charm. No one left! Niiiice!

This is her last veg week. Just a heavy defoliation before the switch to 12/12 that I'll make on the first day of week 12. At the beginning of the week applied some foliar B-52 and Nirvana @ 0.5ml/L, then some more after the big defoliation I did at the end of the week, this time inside the watering solution, @ 2ml/L. She finally grew up a little bit, and I'm not saying she reached her sister Sensi #11, but she definitely gained some real height. I called her "Sensi Zapdos" haha!

Flowering has started! How can't you love this plant (and pheno)? She's short, but has sativa leaves always pointing to the sky. This means she's always happy! I hope she will gift me with a wonderful smoke. I'm even thinking about taking some clones on around week 3, when I'll do the last big defoliation. She's quite compact, but develops many lower colas that come out from literally anywhere. This is amazing because I'm sure she will be FULL of flowers very soon. Wow I can't wait to see what happens on her! She also started showing the first primitive form of flowers at the end of this first week. What a satisfaction!!! This week I watered twice: the first time with flowering nutes by BioMagno @ 1ml/L, the second time with just B-52 and Nirvana from Advanced Nutrients. Just some experiments, so I can see how they react alternating different (but always good) food. I can tell you every one of them reacts to that B-52 + Nirvana cocktail by raising their leaves to the sky like they are praying, so yes, it's actually a very powerful cocktail!!

Took a while for this update because last week I lost my camera's battery charger. Finally we can see the first flowers! Everything good. I love how she's always praying to the sky, which is sign she's always happy. I called her "Zapdos", like the legendary Pokémon, because she has the same pattern with her leaves. She suffered in the first weeks because she apparently didn't need many nutes, but now she's loving them. Basically I'm alternating one time feed and one time just water. Always correcting pH to 6.5 before pouring the solution into the pot. I also spotted some trichomes around the flowers already. She seems to be so fast! I'll do a big defoliation by the end of this week.

There we go! I love weeks 3. They always remind me of the ScrOGs I did in the past... the first flowers, the end of the stretch period... plants finally pushing all the energy to their flowers: yeah baby!!!! Let's see what I can tell about "Zapdos". At the beginning of this week I did the last big defoliation. Many lower flowers were covered by fan leaves, so I removed them. I also got rid of some lower bud sites that would have never received enough light if I kept them. As you can see, everything is clearer now. Since last week she's gained 1cm only: this means her stretch has come to an end, and she can now put all her energies into flowers development. I'm alternating Biomassa and Florastimo, one week each. Biomassa has CalMag inside, Florastimo has some other good stuff like vitamins, amino acids and algae. Have you seen how many fungus gnats I've trapped? Fucking fuckers. Mosquito Dunks didn't work properly: it's better to use it by spraying it on every AirPot's hole, instead of using it inside the water solution.

Oops. Burned tips. Her leaves have been darker than her sisters' for long now, so I knew she didn’t need much food. But I definitely didn't expect her tips to get burned so easily. This is the reason why this week I gave only water. I started this journey with a personal favorite: Sensi #32. But this soon changed when I saw Sensi #741's "Zapdos structure". I literally fell in love for her. Her flowers smell like..... Peach! Red fruits! Tropical! Passion fruit! OH MY GOD. The only unknown is the effect. The point is that I can't lose this pheno. This is why, though we are on week 4, this week I took 3 clones from her. It's the second time I try doing this, and the first time I failed because they developed bud rot. It's true that clones are usually taken in veg, but I read this can be made in flowering too. If it works, new branches should come out from the flower, and will be horrible looking at first. But let's try this!! She's developing 8 big and dense colas. I expect them to be really big in the end, but I expect the same for the lower and smaller ones. As you can see those ones are frosty too. Wow, how can't you love this girl?

Oh my. Last week I was talking about N deficiency, but in reality she was perfect! The real big problem was my pH pen, that was broken, and when I thought I was giving a pH 6.5 solution to my plants, in reality the pH was a lot lower than that (maybe pH 4). That's why her leaves all started getting yellow! Runoff PPMs right now, after the feed, are 3100 lol. I decided not to flush her, but I'll give just water until that value decreases a little. Her flowers are bigger, and smell more and more, day after day, of fruit. I LOVE HER. But what a pity for those burned tips! I also have some updates on the clones. One of them created 1 single root, haha, but YAY, I'm so happy about it. That clone was fast! The other two are still there, but my fingers are crossed. There's a video of the clone after all the photos.

Week 7, big flowers and another big defoliation in order to get even bigger colas. You know how long it takes to clean up all those lower popcorn buds, right? Because I do, and this month I’ll not have any time to do that. So... I removed them. All of them. And kept just the bigger ones. As you can see, this lady is almost totally naked right now. Aw yeah! Her 8 main colas are already quite big, and this defoliation should make her focus only on them. One week left? Maybe two? I don’t think a lot more. I’ll be start checking trichomes very soon, and you too with the high quality photos I’m uploading. Stay tuned!

Argh... I hate those very light green leaves. Almost yellow. No, I don't like how she came to the final phase of this cycle. Yes, I had problems with my pH meter some weeks ago, but I've been giving everything right after that. It seems like she has some Fe deficiency, which causes the yellowing of leaves. Maybe she just needed more nutes... I don't know, but fuck. At the beginning of this week I fed for the last time after a water-only week, then on last day of the week I started flushing. I flushed with 30L of tap water (pH corrected to 6.5), that is around 3x times the capacity of the pot (9L). I got a runoff consisting in pH 7 and 525PPMs. I think this deficiency made her buds not to grow properly, and in fact at the moment they're not that big. Maybe they will fatten a little in the next two weeks, but I'm not that sure these leaves color will allow that. I also posted the clones photos. Two of them have rooted and they're looking good. They're kept under a 24/0 cheap light bulb (I think it's a 9W one). I'm alternating a foliar rooting solution with just water, being careful to never allow leaves to get too dry. I'll transplant them into soil as soon as they root a little more. See you next week!

FLUSH FLUSH FLUSH! I still can't figure out what happened here. N deficiency? Light burn? Wanted more nutes? It was too hot? That leaves are really embarrassing, and it seems like her buds are not growing anymore because she's lacking some food. At this time she's almost done, and her trichomes are all milky with some already amber. Almost time to harvest. Sneak peek time! Some days ago I tried a small sample. What can I say? Taking those clones was one of the best decisions of my life. Amazing high, like 70% on the head and 30% on the body. Will describe it better in my final review of course!

Week 20. Harvest

Happy Harvest Day!

9/10

This is the end of another great journey! Sensi #741, aka Sour Diesel x Afghani, is the first strain from Sensi Seeds Research I harvested and vaped. It soon became my favorite sativa to have deep and very focused introspection sessions. Yes, she wasn't very permissive with nutes and pH deficiencies, but I think the high is something so extraordinary you can easily accept a harder challenge to grow a plant like this. ----- HOW SHE GROWS ----- She grows quite fast in veg, while in flower she's not a super stretcher. Her leaves pointed up to the sky from the start to the end, and that's why I called her Zapdos (the legendary Pokémon). She creates a bushy structure with many colas here and there, but they are soft, airy, and get a lot smaller as soon as they're dried. She's very sensible to pH fluctuations, and this took me to some problems to the leaves in the final phase. Fortunately, buds weren't affected. Trimming her leaves is very hard and time consuming: small leaves like everywhere. A trim nightmare! ----- TASTE AND AROMA ----- The aroma is still hard to recognize after 3 weeks from the harvest, but I often smell something that reminds me of fruit and other herbs. I need to vape some more to define it better. ----- GENERAL EFFECT ----- Wow, wow, wow. This strain is amazing to explore the roots of your problems, and fix them. You can do this because the focus is incredibly sharp. When I smoke other sativa dominant strains (but also indicas), I usually lose a thought within seconds, and sometimes forget what I was thinking about a moment before. With this Sour Diesel x Afghani, this doesn't happen. You just start thinking about a specific problem, and explore it until you're satisfied. In general you're able to go deep and deep inside you. That's incredible, believe me, I'm super amazed by this strain. I also smoked this in a tech house party, and it allowed me to dance for 6 straight hours without even stopping once (4 joints in total divided with a friend). Definitely a very cool effect! ----- CONCLUSIONS ----- I love this strain. I wasn't sure what to expect with all the problems her leaves run into, but I got surprised. Really surprised. Imho this is the best feminized strain from Sensi Seeds Research!

@BlackOpsGrow, 11 weeks is not really that long. If you are doing a perpetual grow ( and have the room) you can veg for the same length of time as flower in another area. When the flower room opens up, move them to the room and then start more. It's definitely a process. The nice part is you always have plants in flower. Double the fun.

Hi buddy, can I throw a couple of questions? I see whan you planted the seeds, you didn't mix the Mykos with the soil, but just put a layer, what's the benefit from that instead of mixing it? After 20 days, was the 1L airpot already filled with roots? Thanks and keep on growing! :)
DaGroa
DaGroacommented6 years ago
@TOTEM, Sorry if I add that it's written on the bags to do so!!!! XD A part from jokes, you're right, the fungi need to "attach" to the roots the sooner the better, no need to spread 'em at the bottom of the pot. While growing and colonizing the mychorizzae will explore the whole pot looking for food anyway, and they protect themselves better from bad fungi/nematodes too when they're in greater number per cm2. I end up here, I sound too wiki! :D

Hey @HighestGrade! Well, I think it's more important to create as much contact as possible between roots and mycorrhizae, and that's why I create a layer of them just under the transplanted plant, instead of mixing it with the soil. Doing like this, mycorrhizae should allow roots to create a better "base" to start their stretch from. After 20 days, no, the airpot was not completely filled, but since her final pot will be the 9L ones, and I'll not keep her in veg forever, I needed to follow a transplant schedule that allowed her to live for some weeks in the 3L pot too. Just a matter of simplicity, and not optimization for sure! Stay safe =)

Looking great 👌🏼 i run 4 plants in 3 l air pots right now for the first Time and I wondered how the ladies would have been in 6 or 9 liter pots

Resin_Randycommented6 years ago
@TOTEM, yes as soon as this run is finished i‘ll switch to the 6l ! Maybe i‘ll put just one in a 12l AirPot and see what happens in a scrog still not sure about that 😅

@@Resin_Randy, I would say A LOT bigger! Why don’t you try with the 6L upgrade?

Hey man nice grow and mainline do you get a bigger yield by doing this? and what is your opinion about the tap water for myzzhroriza? What do you think when you gonna finish? and how do i like and follow this grow??? Good luck Peace!

TOTEMcommented6 years ago
Hey @TheCode, thanks for the compliment! Yeah, mainlining surely gives you better yields: you get 8-16-32 colas of the same size, where every one is being hit by light the same way of others’. Tap water for mycorrhizae is perfectly fine, but you MUST make chlorine evaporate before giving that to your plants. In practice, fill up a container with tap water and wait about 24-48h before using it. I’m about to flower this plant in about a week, so let’s say she will take between 8 and 11 weeks to end. In reality I don’t know because they’re experimental strains with not 100% defined flowering times. If you wanna follow the grow, just press the big green Follow button at the top of the page! Yo!!!!

Interesting what you are doing... Hopefully those deficiencies are better by next week. The Cal-Mag will definitely help.

Good luck bro, I will follow along for sure on this one. I've been looking over some of your diaries to learn more about your scrog technique. Hopefully I can do that with my Gelatos this time. Good luck and grow well 👌!

You are a hell of a pruner bro! These babies bend to your knees on command! LOL. I'm a newby, the newest of the newbies really and I'm very curious about the hard defoliation...I read opposed opinions about the pruning stress not being compensated by the increase in light and nutriments they get this way. You did it already? (stupid question maybe...) What's the difference (in % of crop) between NO defoliation and HARD defoliation?! Ever got any "casualties" cause of this stressy intervent? Or any crop loss or had to keep veg longer to give em time to recover? Beautiful must say...I'm drooling!!! 😋

@DaGroa, Haha, loved this comment! Well, I think we all should work to optimize the spaces we have. Letting them grow naturally with one big cola in the middle, and many smaller (4-5 times less) colas around will yield LESS than enlarging them as much as we can in order to create an even flat canopy. This is the biggest difference I noticed between pruning and not pruning. Sometimes it happens that after some hard stress like mainlining some nodes start growing not symmetric anymore (one branch grows 1 cm before the corresponding one on the other side), but that's not so bad in the end. So... I think training your plants will always yield more! I always suggest you to understand the basics of lollipopping, which means removing any lower branch which is not reached by light. I think you can find many informations on growweedeasy.com, especially in the tutorial section!
