Versize First time posting on growdiaries. Thoroughly excited. This is my second grow. But I would.say my first grow was a real success so eager to try this next one. I'm in week 5 already and will write up more weeks the next evenings. Jack Herer was my favourite strain when I started smoking about 15 years ago. So I probably never have had real Sensi Jack. But I sure remeber a very typical Hazey taste with a lot of pine and lime. So this will be a nostalgic grow for me. I have heard all the bad things about Sensi, but this is the closest to OG Jack I hope. But there sure aren't a lot of finished diaries on this one. I'll be hoping to add at least one.

Versize Week 1 veg. Steadily growing. Giving small amounts of water daily. The 2 small pots are in the grow cabinet I made. The heater turns on with the GGS system if it gets to chilly. Very chilly weather for beginning of summer. Lots of humidity though. So that's nice for this phase. In the tent next to it this is less desirable where the autoflowers are finishing out and we want low humidity.

Versize These ladies are starting fast. Incredible growth for just 7 days. Transplant in the 3 liter pot went smooth. Always using Great White. No nutrients in the water. Just CalMag and Power roots to get to about 200 ppm in RO. I then gave them a whole bunch of water before leaving for the weekend to experience Mary Jane Berlin. Was definitely awesome. Risky move with the water, but had to (I thought). So I basically soaked the soil and also put the pots on plates with water on it. Well, that paid off. The plants looked great when I returned 4 days later. But the soil was still quite wet. 😅 You live and you learn. Topped at the end of this week.

Versize I didn't take many photos this week, I see. The photos are from the beginning of the week. The photos in the next diary are almost seven days later. I also saw in the photos that I think I already topped it off at the end of week 4. The plant is recovering well from this this week. Growth is steady! So I'll add some photos of some outdoor plants that I'm also growing this year. They're in local compost, mixed with worm castings and some supermix. I never water them. They're very close to the groundwater there.

Versize Training is in full flow now. Being in the tent daily. Bending. Twisting. Taking some leaves sometimes. Watering every 2/3 days. The Plagron Terra Grow soil - I find - holds to much water. The 20 Liter pots often need 4 liters to get proper runoff. I also find runoff to be way to high already but maybe that's because I didn't water to runoff the first week in the big pot. Definitely will keep giving low notes with proper runoff till that is in check. Definitely cool and wet lately so I have been running the dehumidifier in veg. 😅 Helps bring up temp in the lung room.

Versize After topping all the outer main branches one more time I leave the Training for what it is now. Maybe already regret training it a bit too much. Constantly see that my plants are very short. But have gotten great yield per square meter on the laat grow so height isn't everything of course. The next one or maybe two weeks I will give the plants some time to grow all the shoots up, before flipping it to 12/12.

Versize I have honestly learned my lesson. I have officially trained to much. Feel very silly. Now I am doing daily defoliations and also cutting out branches that aren't going to make it to the top, but also are just in excess. I counted over 36 colas per plant, so 72 colas in a 2 by 4 tent. So in this 7 days I switched to 12/12. The Jack Herer has definitely begun her infamous stretch now. Growing over 2 cm in height per day now. Bud sites are appearing all over.

Versize Was away on vacation this week. Luckily got some help this week. Plants drink a incredible amount. I don't have much experience but I feel like the Plagron Growmix almost holds water too well. Giving 6 liters (per pot) every 2 days now. Removed some branches.

Versize Very hot end of the week. Running the dehumidifier and airconditioning over 12 hours a day. Definitely have never used as much energy in one week. Don't even want to know. Over 15 kWh's a day for sure. I did another defoliation and also removed even more branches. Also did a sort of bud lollipop and took ook everything that was still under the net. Some small buds and some leaves that were sill there. Also had to do this earlier. But this is a learning process. The plants are really stretching now. Buds are forming with many quite long white hairs on both. Also start to notice the differences between the two pheno's. The left plant doesn't need as much nutrients as the right one. Also the one on the right has to dark leaves. Very green, almost a little blueish. I definitely did way to much plant training. I have now learned that doesn't reward you with anything other than wasted time, and effort. I'm struggling a LOT with humidity. Also in normal weeks. My exhaust fan is running 24/7 and the dehumidifier is also running quite a bit. That does work (a bit) but I fear that'll be to hot when entering the later weeks of flower. Definitely the biggest struggle in sea climate part of Europe. Low outdoor humidity over here is 55%, and basically every night 100%. On average RH outside is over 65% during the day.

Versize These ladies are really starting to look very nice and getting more smell now. I can't say it's very distinct yet, but quite the smell when you open the tent. I have to say, the canopy looks awesome. I will do the occasional small defoliation of about 10 leaves on the 2 plants in total. I am also starting to see signs of windburn on the plants but moving air though out the whole plant is how I prevented all mold in my last grow when I didn't even have the dehumidifier yet. I have even ordered 2 more clipfans to cool my light in my other grow cabinet and 1 for under the plants in this tent. Started with the Green Sensation this week 💚 So far I haven't really tried other brands, but the simplicity and effectiveness of all Plagron products is great.

Versize Absolutely nothing to see here. I'm just watering every 2 or 3 days. This week I have even watered 2 times with a little bigger interval, and very low ec because leaf tips are burning and runoff EC was high despite being low on input. Watered 2 times with 0,8 EC this week with just enzyme, power buds and some calmag. Plants seem very happy.

Versize I feel like the Jack Herer isn't a heavy feeder perse. And I'm really starting to have big issues with finishing/harvestimg/drying situation. I'll write about it here, but will also ask a question with the post. I have two very different pheno's. The one on the right clearly is the indica leaning variant that finishes in UNDER 60 days. It is basically ready for harvest. But the other plant on the other hand isn't even close to being done. I guess that can go at least 3 more weeks. I've read about partial harvest where you cut the top half of the plant of, but then I still have to create a cardboard drying box or something because I don't have a spare ventilated tent/closet. Both have plants growing in them now.

I have 2 totally different pheno's in one tent. My other room is also occupied. One plant is ready for harvest. Other need like 3 weeks, at least! Should I build some cardboard dry box, or dry in the tent. What would you guys do in a situation like this?

That's one of the things about growing indoors that can be slightly overlooked. at least with outdoor grows by the time its harvest, conditions, at least in my area are near perfect for drying and you could do it just about anywhere that's dark. I think its something that should be factored in and expressed more by the industry. I'm lucky to had a decent sized shed I can utilize with window AC, portable heater, Humidifier and dehumidifier, I can dial it in near perfect.60 is slightly too cold in my opiion. 65 yeild great results too, even up into 70,but much high than that you really run the risk of loosing potency and flavor. The only problem is its my studio/main chilling area, and i have to endure the cold for 2 weeks straight. Add a staggered harvest and i may as well move to Antarctica. So I feel the pain. I'm thinking about building a dedicated drying shed or soothing down the road. the box is not a terrible idea. May people hang dry then cure in paper bags. as long as buds are not touching sides of box and you have gentle airflow. I kind of like drying in my spare tents when available for keeping the buds clean from dust and dirt and things. I've never had mold be an issue drying in my tents, but i could see how it cold cause some issues.

Make the box to make it closed. Put a weak fan in the box. Sunlight should not penetrate into the box. Put the box on the bottom of the box, on the floor of the box. In the place where the small wind passes. On the boxing floor, the temperature should not be very high. It is better to dry at temperatures not exceeding 20 degrees and with humidity in the range of 40%-55% Timely digest and follow the foci of possible mold. After drying = Send the entire crop to a span with the pokes of the Beads or Integra for several months with periodic ventilation. Good luck

Yes, absolutely harvest individual plants when they are ready. whether you use a tent, a carboard box or some mesh racks hung in a room... controlling temp, rh and keeping it dark are the only 3 concerns. A circulation fan is good, too, but never point directly at the buds. I'm not a fan of small enclosed places while drying. Just adds risk of mold and usually causes a breeze across the bods to maintain a good RH. They can be good options once the buds have dried a few days or more... mid-60s F / 60% RH ... do your best maintaining that and it won't matter much about the rest. If you put them into a sealed container too fast, RH will spike in the container. The outside of buds will feel soft, again -- moisture evaporates off the surface of buds faster than the internal moisture being pulled to the surface. Given how i do things, i find i need about 24h beyond when the outside of buds feel dry and when i put them into containers. Simply take them out if they exhibit signs of elevated moisture in the sealed container. Repeat until buds stop exhibiting that excess moisture. There are so many variables, that it's better to understand the cause and effect rather than exact suggestions so you can adjust how you dry, when you seal up etc. A slow, cool, dark dry will do the best. might take a few experiences to get a procedure down that avoids putting wet buds into jars etc. A dust cover is fine.. but completely boxed up or in a tent is unnecessary but might be convenient. i just use and old tent frame with no canvas in a cool room. humidifier moves enough air to keep climate consistent for me.
