Planning out the perpetual grow and starting the next round to fill the flower room.
Soaked the seeds in tap water for 24 hours in the dark then put the in peat pods. They had a bit of root when I put them in the pods. Placed the pods under a dome I bought at the dollar store. They took another three days to sprout.
Made my soil mix, used a mix 2 parts top soil, one part work casings, half part coco, half part peat, half part perlite. Took the seedlings and planted them in 0.5 liter styrofoam cups using my home brew soil mix.
This should be a 8 or 10 week vegetation and I will flip to flower when the room opens up.
This time I might micro top and LST, not convinced mainline brings more yield. I will know more when I harvest the Quick Critical.
Thanks for looking,
Cheers
Week went well. The little guys were streaching so I moved the lights down last week to 18" abd this seemed to stop it. Just moved them back up to 24".
More leaves are forming and I see curling. Did not ph the water, I guess I will start.
Watering a bit every day or every other day. Not really measuring, just a bit on the top of the cup when they are dry. Started adding very low dose of nutrients and they respond well.
I will leave them in the styrofoam cups for another week and then pot up to 2 gln.
Really looking forward to thw dark buds.
Thanks for looking.
Potted up mid week to 2 gln containers. I waited until the soil was dry and then did it. Roots looked good and timing was right.
Micro topped the plants after the fourth node. Well this did not go as planned. Three were mico topped and the fourth one was FIM, took off a lower leaf section too. An oh shit moment. Now that really was a FIM. Haha. This was the best looking one, still lots of time.
Increased the nutrients a bit, plants look mostly fine. One has crooked leaves and another has two odd colored leaves on the bottom. The seem dryed out. Been like this for a week. Not going to worry about it nobe of the other leaves are showing signs. Just watching it closely and see if it changes.
Thanks for looking.
Week number four complete and no problems, happy days. Starting to get some smell and I'm loving it.
Plants are growing good and just leaving thrm alone. I will wait until they are a bit bigger and start some LST. Right now I am thinking that will be the extent of my training on this run. I will bend the top branches till the bottoms catch up. Planning on a ten week veg cycle. Goal is eight tops. Also hoping to grow some taller plants this time, goal is 48" minimum.
Three of the four plants have dark veins in the leaves. Really looking forward to dark leaves and buds.
Thanks for looking.
Been leaving the plants alone for the best part. Just trimed the bottom few leaves as they won't amount to anything.
They keep growing and getting higher and bushier. Looking good. Mico topped three of rhem again, the forth I left alone. It seems to be droopy and shorter with lots of branches.
Potted up to 10 gln fabric pots. Used recycled soil then added some sheep manure and worm casings to the mix.
Had a bit of mag deficiency and added a seaweed foiler spray two times a week, it was an impulse thing. We will see where that goes. Also added a bit of molasses, again seemed like a good idea.
Thanks for looking
Still a bit of nutrient deficiency in one plant. Using seaweed foliar spray, seems to be clearing up.
Two other plants still drooping sometimes, think it is the same issue, nutrient related. I know it's not water or root bound. I will keep watching them closely.
Plants are filling out and getting bushier and getting ready to trim off unwanted growth.
Thanks for looking,
Cheers
Plants are filling out and really getting bushier. Did some mild trimming and some LST, trying to train the canopy. Been plucking off all the shoots, I figure they won't amount to much being on the bottom. Just letting it grow vertical.
I will veg for another couple of weeks then flip to 12/12. I first need space in the flower room.
Thanks for looking
Good overall growth this week, plants look healthy and bushy.
Did a bit of LST and the plant split at the topped location. This happened on my ASD grow too and no negative effects, so I'm not worried.
Added a couple more nutes to the mix and just increase the water volume. Now I am watering 4 liters every three days. I will watch this closely. I see a bit of leaf curl on the end and see some nute burn. I will know that for next time and will back off a bit. I think I will add new nutes more slowly and back off the grow nute a bit.
Waiting for the flower room to open up, they may get another week or so of veg. Another week of veg is a good thing.
Thanks for looking.
Cheers
Plants are growing good, the tallest is 24", then 23", 20 and 16".
Stoped micro topping all the shoots the begining of the week. These were low and I figure they won't amount to much any how. Going to let it grow out now getting ready for flower. Hoping toom will clear in the flower room this weekend, wouldn't bet on it though. Another week of veg is not bad.
Did a defoliation at the begining of the week, again hoping they will start flower this weekend. Took everything off except the top four or so fan leaves.
Took some pictures of the LST I tried, it ended up looking more like S & M. Haha. Patched them up with the kids pipe cleaners, seemed to work.
Really like the vigorous growth of the Black Dog strain, bery hearty too. These plants are the same size at nine weeks my Amherst Sour Diesel was at ten weeks. Both were stellar in veg.
Thanks for looking.
Cheers
Today is the end of week ten, last week of veg and put them in the flower room on the last day. Flower officially starts now. Happy days.
Did a few things differently, cut off everything low and hoping for a big stretch. Excited to see them stretch and bud out.
I will wait to the end of week three of flower before I defoliate. Seemed to me last time as soon as I defoliated they stopped growing. Not sure if it is related or they simply changed to bud building l.
They look big and good surrounding the Critical Mass CBD.
I will start gently opening them up to get the light in during the stretch.
Thanks for looking.
Moved them to the big boys room under the cobbs. Left the lights high for the first week so they adjust.
Kept with the veg nutrients this week, will switch next week.
A little bit of stretch going on this week. All
looking good.
Thanks for looking
Moved the last plant out of the flower room amd positioned the Black Dog plants under the lights. Added my Canadian Redneck version of the scrog and spread out the branches. The plants looked completely different after doing that. This should help immensely.
Backed off the veg nutrients a bit and added some bloom to the mix. I did veg nutrients for first week of bloom, then half veg and half bloom for this second week. Straight bloom nutrients for the remainder. I am hopingfor a bigger streach, I will see in the next week or two if this helps. I will keep using molasses.
Thanks for looking
The streach continued and growth was good. Bent the taller branches down for a semi uniform canopy. Buds are building and all is well.
With the warmer summer temperatures the room became a bit too hot and humidity was too high as well. Turned the A/C on and within a few hours the temp dropped down to 75 and humidity to 51%. Went away for the weekend so I will see what it is like when I get back.
I dropped the veg nutrients and am feeding bloom and cal-max with molasses.
Need to figure out and fine tune the whole temperature thing.
This coming week I will do a full leave strip. Once that is done I will fine tune the canopy.
Thanks for looking.
Did a defoliation at the begining of the week, this opens up the plant and gets all the light in to the bud site.
Buds are building good. The fan leaves look like a bit of magnesium deficiency, added the Cal-Max. Hopefully this will clear up fast.
Thanks for looking.
Plants seem to be growing ok, seeing some fade on the leaves. Not sure if this is a bit nutrient deficiency or not.
Plants are drying out faster than usual, probably the temperature. Struggling to get it lower anlong with the humidity. May need a dehumidifier and to crank the a/c.
Week seven of flower, temp is coming down and is good.
Buds really just started to fatten up. They are getting really frosty too. Getting faded leaves and some burnt and or dead ones too. One looks like it will finish in a couple of weeks, the others look like they might need more time.
Cheers!
All seeds sprouted, HSO seeds have been very good to me. The grow was good, a bit tougher though as I need to improve as a gardener. I have added a PH pen, this makes ph'n simple, quick and accurate. This is big.
I took a bunch of lower growth off before flower and yeild was less however the bud production was substantially better. I had lots of great tops. Maybe a bit too much, I think I have to find the happy medium.
I wet trimmed this time, fir several reasons, never doing that again. The plants dried in record time and are not as dense. I will know more in the weeks to come.
Had a tester, it was smooth and tasted good. I will wait for the cure and will post a smoke report then.
I have to say I will grow this again in the future.
Cheers.
