It’s end of week 1 for this seedling. It germinated quickly and is growing well in the tent. The only issue so far is that one of its first leaves appears to have suffered some sort of set back causing it to droop badly even thought it’s still living. A tiny white patch where the leaf joins the stem. A fungus of some sort maybe? Hopefully not an issue that will continue.
Week 2 and the Think Different girly is off to a running start, growing so very quickly. Just gentle tickling of PH’d water and feed solution and all seems to be well.
Vigorous growth and a surprisingly healthy smell from a 3 week old plant. Keeping the HID down to 250w to not use too much power and fan time but give it blasts of 400w for an hour or two most days. I think the strong growth may be due to the CO2 bag that’s been hanging in the tent from the beginning.
She’s getting leafy now with a good strong stem. Leaves look fine, nice even green with just minor curling up at edges and all tips are shiny and darker green.
Temps nominal.
Smell at this point is stronger from than the first grow last year.
Big stretch this week with buds beginning to fill out nicely. Some minor signs of nitrogen toxicity but it’s under control with just PH’d water being added. Trying to not over feed her.
The weather was cooler at the begining of the week so she got treated to some 400w light for 3 days and loved it but later in the week the rising air temp and humidity made it harder to keep the air temp in the tent in a comfortable zone just below 30 degrees Centigrade so the light was turned down to 250w again.
I made a mistake this week with the nutrients so and had to flush the plant before serious Nute burn set in. She seems to be ok now though there is clawing on a few leaves. Recovery was quick after flushing, the leaves seemed to lose that deeper green and became paler and the tips still show some signs from too much nitrogen. There’s some very faint yellow patches on many leaves which is a concern.
Buds seem to be filling out nicely although my mistake will no doubt have some effect on yield and the time she takes to finish.
Lessons learned....
I did some defoliation, taking many of the bigger fan leaves off, just one or two every other day.
Signs of what’s a I think is a Magnesium deficiency on some leaves which is slowly spreading so I have added some magnesium sulphate to supplement what’s already in the base nutrients.
The pace of this girl has not slowed one bit!
The buds are filling out quickly with the main cola being the most impressive.
There has been a lingering magnesium deficiency over the last 10 days which I have found out online is most likely due to the Biobizz light mix. No problem, I will just amend the feed with magnesium for the rest of the grow.
The plant is hungry so I upped my ppms. She will take higher ppms than I intended giving. Some yellowing leaves at the bottom were taken off as well as 90% of the leaves showing the magnesium deficiency.
The vigour and speed she has progressed with has made me plan on growing more of Dutch Passions Autoflowers. So many to choose from but I think Auto Ultimate. I might just grow another Think Different and get it right.
There has been major swelling in the main cola and in all the other main buds over the last few days.
The temperature in the tent is kept between 20 and 28 degrees Centigrade and the light is moved well away. It was quite cool and wet outside for the time of year but then warmed and dried up so I turned the light down to 250w where I’ll leave it until harvest.
Judging by the trichomes and pistils, the Harvest can only be two weeks away at most but I’m not in any hurry.
The smell is strong now, sweet and citrus like. Beautiful.
I’ll tail off the nutrients this week and reduce the light schedule as the weather is going to be quite warm outside over the next 7 days. The tent is in an outbuilding which is not insulated so it’s a minor challenge to keep the temp inside the tent regulated.
She is almost ready to cut down. Over 50% of the trichomes are cloudy and a little under half of the pistils have turned colour.
She’s been given only ph’d water for the last 7 days.
I’d like to leave her another week at least but I’ve got to get her hung and dried to start curing.
I quick dried some frosty looking popcorn bud and it is strong. Really happy with this plant and I highly recommend it for beginners.
Definitely quite strong. Not harsh or grassy.
Should be lovely when it’s cured fully.
This TD was impressive for how quickly she grew.
I’m very pleased with how easy she has been to grow and forgiving of my mistakes. I quite like what I see with Dutch Passion and I’ll definitely grow a TD again but I’ll adjust the PPMs to be lower next time.
Looking really good, man!
I have three Automatics in my diary in week three now.
If you have the time please check it out and comment what you think about it :)
Nice weekend!
Great grow bro, she looked very healthy towards harvest! I have just chopped down my Lemon Zkittlez, I was wondering how many days did you hang them in the tent for?
