Day 25 - Increased light intensity from 40% to 50% - Continued LST on all plants - Watered "EM-1" with very small amount of Remo nutrient water (that was left in the watering can from yesterday) - Removed one of the other "test strain" plants from tent to make room for rearranged "Early Miss". - Sealed exhaust fan to carbon filter connection. - Warmer outside temperature and higher light intensity require exhaust fan speed to be increased from 20% to 40% to control tent temperature. Day 26 - Reduced light intensity to 40% for first 6hrs, then back to 50% - Minor LST adjustments to all plants - Leaf tucking on all plants - Watered lightly with 6.4 pH-adjusted garden tap water Day 27 - Reduced light intensity to 45% - LST and leaf tucking on all plants - Watered moderately with 25% strength nutrient solution, pH adjusted to 6.2 Day 28 - Flowering noticeable - Maintained light intensity at 45%, 20/4 schedule. - Leaf tucking on all plants, LST on "EM-2". - The leaves of "EM-1" are looking a little discolored. Not sure if it's from light stress (50% intensity seemed a bit too much) or from pH or nutes or...???

Day 50: - "EM-2" brown/rust spots are worsening. Increased Remo Nutrients "MagNifiCal" during feeding. - Moved "EM-2" to center position, where light intensity is lower. - Watered with plain garden tap water today but added some "Cal-Mag Spike". Water pH'd to 6.5. Day 51: - No water - "EM-2" brown/rust spots worsening. - Added Gaia Green Bloom 2-8-4 dry amendments to plants "EM-2" and "EM-3b". Mixed 4tbsp into top of soil, watered lightly with pH 6.5 garden tap water. **IF ANYONE KNOWS WHAT'S UP WITH THE BROWN SPOTS, PLEASE LET ME KNOW!** I'm treating it as either Calcium deficiency or light burn... but i'm almost certain it's not light burn, as the spots are on upper and lower portions of the plant. Day 52: - Watered with 60% recommended Remo Nutrient flowering combo. Day 53: - No water - Light defoliation to under-side of plants. Day 54: - No water Day 55: - Watered with 60% recommended dose of nutrients. - Lowered lights-on temperature from 78F to 75F. - Lowered lights-off temperature from 72F to 68F. - Increased de-humidification during lights off to try and maintain 50% RH. Without dehumidification, RH climbs to 70+% RH! - "EM-2" plant still increasing signs of nutrient deficiency. So far it doesn't seem to have affected the buds, only the leaves.

Brown/rust spots have been increasing on one of my 3 plants. Appearing on upper and lower, newer and older leaves. Does not appear to be a light/heat issue. Treating it as possible Cal def by increasing cal-mag nutes.

hey there , calcium was the symptom but light stress was the culprit i'm afraid, you gotta lower your lights to around 30cm (max) - 40cm (min) it seems close, but in fact that's pretty normal, that plus a regular regimen of cal mag and the problem should stop spreading almost immediately. Hope this helps ! 🚀

Day 55: - Flushed "EM-2" with approximately 4 gallons of pH 6.2 water. Runoff was coming out at pH 6.5 and only a slight amber colour to it. - Watered "EM-1" and "EM-3b" lightly with pH 6.2 water. Day 56: - No water Day 57: - Temperature in tent rose to 86F for about 30 mins when my A/C didn't turn on at the right time. - "EM-2" is really looking bad. Not sure if i should cut my losses and plan to cut her this weekend...?? - Watered with 60-70% recommended strength of Remo Nutrients. - I'm thinking this might be my last feeding and that i'll start a 7-10 day flush with plain, pH'd tap water. - Noticing some amber trichs on "EM-1" but not on "EM-2" or "EM-3b". - Under microscope, seeing mostly cloudy and some clear trichs. Day 58: - No real change to "EM-2"... not improving but not getting worse. - Watered "EM-1" and "EM-3b" with 60% nutrient solution. Watered "EM-2" with a 10-20% nutrient solution. Day 59: - "EM-2"'s brown spots are a little browner, a little crisper... but no new brown spots are appearing. - No water Day 60 - Watered all plants with pH 6.3 tap water - "EM-2" not improving but not getting worse.

Day 64: - Watering only with de-chlorinated tap water, pH'd to between 6.2 to 6.5. - "EM-2" is still a mess, with brown, dried, curled leaves, but luckily the buds have developed well and the issue remains only in the leaves. - Trichome production has really exploded over the past few days, as has the smell. - "EM-2" has a very berry smell to it, more so than the other two. - Lights-on temperatures: 72-75F - Lights-off temperatures: 65-69F Day 65: - No water Day 66: - Watered with tap water, pH'd to 6.5 - Light defoliation to "EM-2" to clean up brown/dead leaves Day 67: - Will probably be the last day of light for these girls. I'll be giving them 48hrs of darkness, without water, before chopping. - Temp (lights on): 75F - Temp (lights off): 62-68F - RH: 45-60% (mostly around 52-54%)

Overall, i'm very satisfied with the grow up to this point. First time growing indoors and first time growing autos but i definitely learned a lot and hope to do even better next run! I'm definitely looking forward to updating on the smell and taste of the cured buds. They look amazing already! Update: - Buds have been curing now for about 7 weeks and the moisture content is mostly stable around 62-63% RH. - Flavour and quality of smoke has increased greatly. - I wouldn't want to have given it any less than 6 weeks but i will likely give it the full 3 months that i had originally planned.

Day 69: HARVEST! - After 48 hours complete darkness, and with the soil completely dry, the time to chop was upon us! - My girl wet-trimmed "EM-2" and did a great job getting rid of all the brown leaves, which had started affecting the sugar leaves pretty badly too. She hung individual branches on coat hangers. - "EM-1" and "EM-3b" were chopped and hung as entire plants. - Removed light and the 2 circulating fans from the tent, hanging 2 plants up high, and one below. - A/C unit still connected to the tent, providing a gentle breeze coming in at the bottom. - Exhaust fan was reduced to 30%, providing just enough air flow to maintain negative pressure and provide a steady movement of air around the plants. - Temp: 65F - RH: 60-65% Day 73 (drying day 4) - "EM-2" has dried to where the buds are crispy, yet pliable. Trimmed buds from branches and put into jars, with the tops left off. - "EM-2" has come out at 89 grams and was the smaller of the 3 plants. Day 78 - Just finished trimming and putting into jars "EM-1" and "EM-3b". - Those 2 plants spent 9 days drying. - "EM-1" came in at 74g - "EM-3b" unfortunately ended up with pretty airy buds and i'd say about half the weight ended up just going into our trim bag, which we'll use for hash. The buds were very sticky with trichs but just not enough density for me to be happy with. - "EM-3b" weighed in at 54g of smoke-able buds. In total, we have 217 grams of buds curing. We have about 100 grams of trim, including larf, sugar leaves and buds that were just too airy for me to want to keep.

Hi @VanCplGrows! Nice ladies in there 😍 I'm thinking more of a Phosphorous deficiency, considering you're giving loads of nutrients, I think your plants had enough Calcium and Magnesium. My bet is that you're having salts buildup in your medium, because of an intense feeding schedule and probably a lack of runoff, your rootmass is flooded with old nutrients, and is unable to manage nutrients intakes anymore (lockout leading to deficiencies). In this situation I would flush the medium with tap water buffered at pH 6.2, then help the medium to dry by putting a small fan blowing a continuous breeze on the container's surface. Once almost dry, see how this goes, and probably give it a good meal with Phosphorous and Potassium. Affected leaves won't recover but the new ones should be healthy. Hope this will help, keep us updated and happy growing! 👊

VanCplGrowscommented6 years ago
Hey @Stick, thanks for the message. Ya, i've sort of started focusing more on the phosphorous rather than Cal-Mag. My feeding schedule for most of the grow has actually been pretty light. I usually feed 2-3 times per week and only with 30% of the recommended dose. It's only been this past week that i've increased the nutrients. When feeding, i typically only water just until run off starts. When watering with plain pH'd tap water, i tend to water fairly heavily and the run off comes through relatively clear. I've tried to maintain the idea that under-feeding is better than over-feeding but since i don't have a proper EC meter, only a pH meter, it's hard to truly know what's coming out. I figure this will probably be my last week of feeding, then will do a 1 week flush, so not a ton of time for me to turn things around but i'll keep your advice in mind to try and avoid any future problems. Much appreciated! 👍
