Maui Waui in Hydro (DWC)

MontanaManMedical She’s already looking very healthy, being just a day or so behind Blue Dream, which is in the same tent. I’m really excited to grow this one, as I’ve only had it as a concentrate in a vape pen, and that’s not the same experience as the flower, regardless of strain. This will be replacing Desfran when that’s finished in several weeks.

MontanaManMedical She’s responding well to the nutrients and looks happy and healthy. I’ve never grown this strain before, so I’m curious how she’ll grow compared to other Sativas that I’ve grown. I’m particularly curious about the smell.

MontanaManMedical She’s looking healthy, despite what appears to be a little bit of nutrient burn on the lower leaves. I think that I’ll temporarily lower the cal-mag for a week and see if that stops it from getting worse. Still, the new leaves look really healthy and the roots

MontanaManMedical The plant has recovered and is now looking a lot better. I’m removing the damaged leaves gradually as the plant replaces them with brand new ones. You can see the healthier leaves beginning to emerge from underneath the top leaves. I’m likely going to be vegging this plant for another 3 weeks or so, as I’m aiming for a larger plant. I feel more confident now that I’ve dealt with a 100% sativa and its stretching.

MontanaManMedical I’ve eliminated the nitrogen supplementation on this strain until she gets further along in veg, as apparently she’s sensitive to nutrient excesses in early veg. I’ve pruned most of the damaged leaves, but still have a few that I’ll take care of later. I’m holding her nutrients at the current levels until her growth accelerates.

MontanaManMedical She’s getting healthier, with growth accelerating despite all the leaves I’ve removed. I’ve lowered the nutrients a little for this week and, based upon how she responds, I might raise them next week. This plant seems sensitive, so I’ll tread carefully from here on out.

MontanaManMedical She continues to recover, with a MUCH healthier color to most of her new leaves. She’s getting 1 more week in veg before I put her in the flowering tent. I’m less concerned with yield on this strain and more about what I get. I’ve heard a lot about the terps from this strain. I’ve only had it as a concentrate, unfortunately, so this is a way to satisfy my curiosity, especially since Maui Waui isn’t widely available here as a flower.

MontanaManMedical I’ve eliminated the Cal-Mag supplement after seeing that my water is back up to 500ppm+, which should fix what little problems I’m still having with this plant, which is recovering nicely. I’ve left some of the nute-burned leaves on to handle what little remains of the excess. I’ve put it in the flowering tent, which is getting an upgrade of an additional air pump (3 total) and air stones to provide even more air and redundancy. It never hurts to plan for the worst.

MontanaManMedical She continues to grow, although there’s no real stretch or any signs of flowering on the plant as of yet. The newer growth looks healthy and I’m confident that I’ve gotten through the cal/mag excess caused by the once again hard water.

MontanaManMedical On Wednesday we were hit with the strongest wind storm that I’ve personally experienced in my 16+ years in Montana. I lost power for roughly 2 hours. My lights and inline fans are surge protected, but only my air pumps have battery backup, as larger UPS units are REALLY expensive and wouldn’t last that long anyway. After about 90 minutes my UPSs began chirping constantly, alerting me to the fact that they were low on battery power. Thinking quickly, I shut off the air pumps that were getting the 3 buckets in the veg tent ready for the next set of strains I’ll be growing, and dumped out the water. I quickly moved each plant from its feeding bucket to the empty bucket. I then smoked a hemp cone full of Desfrán as I waited for the power to be restored. Once it was, I quickly moved the plants back and began powering up the UPSs. Close call! While she’s beginning to stretch, it’s still not that much. I cut off a few more of the nutrient burned leaves, which improved the looks of the plant. I’m following the feeding chart the same as usual. We’ll see how well she does in the coming week. Hopefully the power outage bucket switch didn’t stress her out.
