WEEK 7
Day 43 Have decided to start watering daily to run-off using nutrient strengths based oin the EC value for the solution. For instance, I have downloaded a coco growing guide which gives recommended EC ranges for the plants based on their stage of growth. So for this stage now, early flowering, I will be aiming for an EC of nutrient solution of between 1.5 and 2.0 (this takes into account my water EC which is 0.4
Day 44 Fed plants with a solution with EC=1.3, PH=5.6,m Temp=20c, Volume given to plants = 15L (1.6L each(, Runoff EC=1.2, Runoff volume = 6.5L = 720ml (approx 50% runoff).
Day 45 -
Day 46 -
Day 47 - Fed plants with an EC aim of 1.7 and a PH aim of 5.9. Mixed in nutrients at a 42% strength and got a solution with EC 1.63, PH=6.0, Temp=14c, Volume given 21L (2,1L each) Run off EC=1.2, Runoff Volume=7.5L (0.83L each = 33%).
Day 48' Fed plants with leftover 9L of nutrient from day 47, diluted with 9L of tap water for a PH of 6.0 and an EC of 1.9
Day 49 Fed plants with an EC aim of 1.4 and a PH aim of 5.,9, Mixed in a 35% nutrient contrentraction, This made 30L of nutrient with an EC of 1.5, PH=6.2, Temp=17c produced. A volume of 15L was given to the 9 plants (1.6L each with nominal runoff that had a EC around 1.0
END OF WEEK 9 - well I have to say I've been seeing droop several hours before and after the light cycle starts even since I allowed the plants to go 3 full days with any water culminating in their first major droop on day 34. That situation effecfed different plants in different ways. It seems like the younger plants got stunted and yellowed off the most, and seemed the most impacted. Those that were closer to flowering stage seemed to take a hit, but overall have taken less of a stunting than the younger plants, and it feels like these younger plants have been taking longer to get back to an optimal growth rate. They are indeed still showing a lighter green coloring in their leaves but given the rapid jump into flowering of the originally more advance plants, these younger ones now that they are returning to their previous vegatative growth rates may well continue to veg up and out, and overtake the originally more advanced plants.
The plants have continued to recover well since the dry out, and several are heavily into flower. Some continue to grow slower than the others and at this stage I really have no idea how these plants will go over their full 12 week growth span. Given the great looking potential yield from my untrained gorilla glue grow, I am wondering what if any advantage my training of these p[ants has had as far as the final yield goes. Maybe I started the LST to late at day 32, but it was my first time ever. I will be interested to see how these Zkittles go, it will definitely influence any future use of training with Autoflower strains of plants. All this aside I think my move to daily waterings was something I should have been doing since the first big watering. I feel like it is definitely a better choice than periodic watering based on how dry the pot is.
Hey there!
Wow what a complete diary so far and it's only week 1!=)
We definitely will follow along to see how your Zkittlez Auto progresses!
Let us know if you need anything and Enjoy Growing Faster π
@Fast_Buds, Thank you guys, it's an honour to have you watch along. If you get a chance to look at my other concurrent Gorilla Glue diary (it's at day 44) and have any recommendations I'd really appreciate it, I'm still quite new to this and it's been a bit of a rough ride for my Gorillas so far. Thank you!
@ProfessorSkiSlopes,
It's a lovely idea mate! I try to add as much info as I can but reading yours shows I most def can do much better :D
And you're right, it would actually have helped a lot if more details/data were added, specially in the beginning!
@ivik80, Thank you!! I'm writing my diary with the main thought that I want it to be the sort of diary that would have been the most help to me starting my grows. I read heaps of other diaries but nobody really seemed to put the time into describing their full setup or even mentioning what light they were using, and so I keep this in focus while I design and fill out my diary. Hopefully more people will start doing the same, and it can accelerate everyone's success! I'm also making a point now to put down all the bad and the good, and every watering and every detail I can think of. After having two catastrophes with my Gorilla Glue grow, I've found the more detail I can jam into my diary, the more chance I have of using it to help identify exactly what I did or what circumstances led to it.
looking real nice in week 4 there...I just got mine in yesterday....they are coming up on their 1st 24hrs...one seed shell gone already all the others are getting ready to shed theirs....I SURE HOPE I CAN GET THESE BABIES HUMMING....BUT so far so good for my 1st time ever growing...they are all showing strong signs so far....a little nervous...dont want to under or over water the seedlings...I will be getting my diary up next week....like I said I'm just under day one complete right now....but germination was 100% and they were ready in 36 hours from the dunk....had one leader it was over an inch in germination and one that was a bit shorter at only a half inch....but they all seem to be poking through....I'LL KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR GROW....they look fantastic in your week 4 photos...hope I can get mine to look that pretty....always remember to KEEP POPP'IN
;~]
@ProfessorSkiSlopes, FYI..i switched to CYCO....figured why not I have better stuff MIGHT AS WELL USE IT....and I think it has made a significant improvement since yesterday.....I noticed more girth since I did the 50% CYCO watering yesterday....50% WAS TO CHECK THE TDA/PPM.....it was only at 448.....so I am going to do modify it a little bit....ADD MORE OF EVERYTHING BUT THE SILICA....my PH was a tad higher then I want it after the mix it was 6.45....so I need to drop that a bit....hopefully my concoction will work....im starting in 6.0 R/O water.....so pretty even mix as it comes...I dont have the SUPA STICKY though right now or the RYZME both are not part of the 12 pack grow kit.....they might bring the solution to that 6.0? im looking for....BUT I THINK I MADE A GOOD CHOICE BY DECIDING TO FINISH WITH CYCO....that is our little secret and I will continue to say I am using what I have used on this diary.....SHHHHHHHHH
@ProfessorSkiSlopes, that is crazy....yeah I really like their line up....they seem to fill everything in pretty well....I have to buy the SUPA STCIKY as that does not come with the kit....and my kit has the SUGAR RUSH but not the GROW XL...which I hear if you dont have the room dont use it...but its supposed to really shoot plants up toward the roof...BUT IS VERY ACIDIC...so Ph is a issue you have to watch if you use the GROW XL...outdoors GROW XL is a must....CYCO IS THE ONLY PHARMACUTICAL GRADE GUARNTEED ZERO CONTAMINANTS IN THE NUTRIENYS OUT THERE...and lets be honest URANIUM IS ORGANIC...Organic has turned into a SPAM WORD to charge more for products...people who hate GMO's say here try this watermelon ITS SEEDLESS... no one complains about GMO watermelon...if we didnt genetically modify WEED it would have 5% THC at best...
@@Wilson_McNugget, Wow, that is a wild co-incidence, would you believe, I was actually looking (for the first time) at the CYCO nutrient line up at one of my local suppliers websites at pretty much exactly the same time you sent this message. SPOOKY. I mean, seriously SPOOKY. Crazy! Good luck on your grow, and congratulations on getting the free nutrients!!
Sweet, you wonβt run out of Zkittlez anytime soon... hope you have a filter cause I have two and they smell very strong but its a nice sweet smell. Good grow!
@GreenHouseLab, You were right, these plants were smelly from way earlier than the Gorilla Glue I grew, it was still a surprise to notice it so early. And now its positively saturates the air with some sort of terpine humidity that you can almost taste, as well as smell. Deeply pungent in the olfactory organ no doubts :)
@GreenHouseLab, Thank you! Yep I've got a carbon filter on hand, I took it off while the plant were still young and not smelling, to save the life of the filter, but I'll be attaching it to the ventilation fan as soon as I notice any odour in the tent... I can't wait to see what all the fuss is about, Fastbuds really talked up Zkittles on their website, I can't say I've ever come across weed that smells like candy, but I'm keen to find out what its like!
Awesome grow!!! I growing this my next round in 2 weeks seeing this really inspires me to pick this strain, I'm going a different route and using rockwool cubes I have 10 zkittlez seeds so I have enough to mess around with different ways to grow see what's best
@Chuckd502113, Cheers for that! I found the Zkittles to be a really great plant to grow. They love all the light, water and nutrient you can give them, and they grow crazy well. They are a beautiful smoke as well... I'll keep an eye out for your grow!!
@@Wilson_McNugget, Thank you very much for the kind words :) I have to admit, I've caught myself thinking the same thing a few times lately, I'm about to post week 9 & 10 photos tonight, the buds have started to really fill out now.
@Short_N_stockY, Hi there.. yep, I reckon its worth filling up all the space with plants, to get the biggest yield. I've not tried scrog. Since I'm doing coco, I'm taking the plants out of the tent everyday to water them, so I can't really put in a screen... That said, the plants seem to have stopt growing up and out, and seem like they will pretty much in bud thickening mode from now on., so hopefully the spacing as it is will do from here on...
Just harvested a Northern Lights Auto and got 63.2 grams with no training or anything. Looks Like your off to a wonderful start I wish you much success with you grow !!!!
@ClubRiot, Thank you very much!! Hopefully I have everything dialed in and I don't do anything massively silly, although I'm aware my practical experience is minimal, so I will just "do my best" and we will see how it all goes!
@GanjaFarmar, Thank you very much! I'm excited to see how this grow goes too. I have another diary using an almost identical setup with Gorilla Glue, but I already managed to have a near catastrophe so I'm really hoping I've got things nailed down this time for a solidly good grow. Cross fingers!
Looking good ... Just got done harvesting a Northern Lights Auto & a AK-49 Auto myself. I wish you the same success.Good luck with the rest of your grow
@ProfessorSkiSlopes,true very true alot of the pictures don't do justice for the hardwork put into it but the better quality pictures help ...but ya just harvest lol
@Cannibalgardens, Thank you!! I appreciate the feedback. This was my first attempt at taking higher quality photographs of the plants. Until now I've just used the grow light as a single light source, and just set the camera to "Auto" mode. Going with multiple light sources, draped background, camera on tripod and manual settings was a full evenings work, so I can't see myself doing it for every week, but for Harvest week, I think I will continue doing it, and seeing how much better I can get my photographs. It's surprisingly difficult to get photographs to do justice to cannabis plants, but I'm sure with practice they will get better.
@ProfessorSkiSlopes, well that's a nice chunk of weight compared to your last grow. You're obviously putting in hard work and identifying issues while learning from mistakes so you'll have this dialed in and well on your way in no time. Thanks for sharing and G'luck on the lemon AK, so a new journey begins!! π΄π΄ππππ
@OhcanaDAbiz, Thank you very much! It's really nice getting that sort of feedback :) I'm feeling pretty good about this grow. I think I'm finally starting to get a bit of a handle on the whole process, and I even though I did have some issues, they were much more quickly identified and remedied than before, and it really showed it the final harvest total. My last harvest was 22 ounces, and this one is almost dry, and looks like it will be 27-30 ounces.. I can see room for improvement in the training (or lack thereof) and in the feeding cycles, also a few tweaks to the temp & humidity. I am about to put down 9 Lemon AK, so I will be keen to see how they go in comparison to the Zkittles!
Crazy looking buds ive got some fast_buds coming myself and i cant wait to pop that first seed .being a newbie makes me want this kind of set up when ive got more then one harvest under my belt .cheers
@ProfessorSkiSlopes,very sound advice appreciate it eveyone ive talked to has been so nice and helpfull ... My diarys could use more detail hard to find the time most days ..
@Cannibalgardens, Goodluck with your first grow. Congratulations on taking on the challenge. I hope my diaries are helpful to you. My best advice would be to make your diary as detailed and complete as possible. That way, even if nobody else helps, you can review your own grow and you'll have a good chance that the answer to your issue is somewhere in your diary. Cheers!
Hey ProfessorSkislopes, i was looking at some auto Zkittelz grow dairies and i was very suprissed when i saw the profile pic, Maybe i'm mistake myself but you talked to me on FB in RQS english yesterday about better Photo gorilla then auto and post a nice pic 2 of a nice bud? Maybe same pic idk. Very nice profile pic by the way, i loved that movie. Also your setup looks very nice and clean. I impressed how detailed your grows are, something to learn there as well. I like the aprouch. I do the Fastbud Zkittelz myself with a diffrent approuch. I like to see my auto as big as i can get it. Happy growing Prof
@ProfessorSkiSlopes, oke no problem bro, the guy uses the same profile pic seems.I did only 2 plants in my 1.20 by 1.20. i have only 2 lights of 120 watts but quality lights. next time i was thinking of doing 4 maybe in 11 liter pots, because the Zkittelz auto is a 1.80 meter plant, it is in a 19 liter fabric pot and i have a glueberry OG auto by dutch passion also in 19 liters. She grew even bigger and in the end i had to tie her down because my tent is only 2 meters. I'm very impressed about the fastbud Zkittelz, those buds are growing so big π i keep on following you, its nice to see where your going. Happy growing ππ
@StoneyMelony, Hey there, no it wasn't me talking to you on FB... ? Thank you for the positive comments on my setup. I've done my best to keep it as clean and aa optimised as I possibly can. My goal is to simply get the highest yield possible from a 1.2m by 1.2m space in under 3 months. I'm still learning, but 9 plants in 11.5L pots seems to me to be the best option to fill the entire tent space. I personally would rather grow 2 plants in larger pots, for the thrill of getting the biggest possible plant, but I'm not sure I could get the same yield... This summer I might try putting some Fastbuds seedlings outdoors in 50 Litre pots and see how big they can go.
