This is my Northern Light Auto, I made a new diarie because I want to enter newbie of the month. She’s been growing strong(isch) for the sh&tty weather we’ve been having here. I did some low stress training. The goal is to have a spiral like plant with strong branches. Never did low stress training on a outdoor plant but all will be fine I think. She has a little burn/brown spot of one of her leaves.. is that because the soil is to rich in nutrients? If you guys/girls have some pointers please shoot

I posted some pics of the leaf issues (brown spots on the sides of the leaves) I’m having.. could someone tell me what the problem is? I don’t give them any nutrients but the soil is pre furtilized for 1 month. Thanks in advance

It seems she got light nutrition burns, bot nothing you should be worried about. As she grows she can handle this.

Hello to all. She has grown a bit but developed a lot of new leaves so I think the grow will really start now. There are some white hairs already so she’s showing pre-bloom. Most of the new leaves are growing in a strange way, the leaves are curly.. anybody knows why this is happening? I still bring my plants inside during the night because it’s still not warm enough. Start to give really light nutrients because the leaves are very light green so with some veg nutrients she will get her deep green color back I hope. Anybody with tips and tricks? Pleadr shoot. Thanks and keep on growing.

Hello all She’s growing pretty good now, woul have liked her a bit bigger:). The sidebranches are getting big and strong because of the LS training. And with weather getting warmer it can only go better. The prebloom is getting more and more visable AND smellable. Some leaves are getting eaten by bugs so I’m going to spray some BIO insectecide for fruit and vegtables. Is this safe to use? And how much do I need to use? Thanks for stopping by, feel free to leave a comment.

Day 46 Hello to all. She’s growing really good now.. many strong sidebranches that are competing to become the biggest (love it). This is 1 of the most fun strains to grow! The pre-bloom is changing into real bloom. I hope she’s going to stretch a bit so the tops have some space to grow so they become big colas! Any remarks? Shoot. Thanks for stopping by. Peace

Hi all (day 53 Northern Light) She is growing like crazy.. she filled her whole 25L pot and she’s still growing. Every day when I low stress her branches the newly opened spots fill in with budsights so I’m happy :) I have 16 main bud sights on this little plant. I gave some plagron vita race for the first time and she seems to like it. I have some tiny black flies in my soil, I ordered some bio stuff to kill them and the larves but the deliveryguy didn’t bring it so I hope they will deliver it on monday. Thanks for stopping by and feel free to comment. 👍 Happy sunday.

I would like to defoliate some leaves that are blocking bud sites. I would cut max 10% of the leaves. I would do that once the nugs are really noticable (2-3weeks into flowering) Do you think this is going to stress her out? And do you really gain much if you cut those fanleave

She looks good and healthy, so if you did I don't think it would stress her out much. For outdoors, I wouldn't defoliate unless it was getting extremely out of control. If I were you, I would keep on rocking with the LST. 👊 Good luck and happy growing!

(Day 60 Northern Light Auto RQS) Hi all. The plant is 42cm and I think most grow is out of her. She created sidebranches on her sidebranches, that’s a first time for me, so that means more budsites 🤔. Weather is going to be cold (16C) and rainy the next 7 days, thank god I made a shelter. Today we had crazy winds but because she’s low it was safe. I hope the budsites will stretch a little bit more so they can become nice mini colas sticking over the many many leaves. Should I pull some fanleaves? In my opinion all is going well. If you have any tips for the beginning fase of flower please tell me (I’m a newb) Thanks for stopping here feel free to comment! 🖖

Day 67 Northern light Auto RQS Hi all The plant is still growing 😳. Thought she would have stopped but no, another 7 - 8 cm in 7 days. You guys think she’s going to grow even more? I broke one of her sidebranches but it was only a little crack so I ducktaped it and ater 2 days the branch looks as strong as before. The sidebranches that are growing on my sidebranches are producing many extra bud-sites. Weather has been bad but this week it will be sunny most of the time and around 20C in the shade. I take the plant inside every evening so she’s never colder than 15C. And give 1 to 1.5 hours of extra led light (only 2X16W). I’m having big hopes for this one because she’s so bushy with many budsites. Any tips and or tricks? Please gimme :) Thanks for reading my diary, feel free to check out my other diary. Happy sunday! Hi all! (Day 74 northern light auto) All has been going great! I just love this plant and the shape it got.. I gave some green sensation from plagron but yesterday I have red that you need to start giving it on week 3 of bloom but I gave it at 2 weeks hope it doesn’t mess her up. She got some yellow leaves on the bottom of the plant but that’s normal so no stress. This week we are having a heatwave, temp will go to 36degrees celcious. I’m going to give her enough water and will hope she doesn’t get heat stress. Should I put her in full shade during the warmest hours of the day or is it better to leave her in the full sun?? She totally stopped her grow, Thank god she stretched a bit so all budsites are nice little towers. I have taken a pic with an ice tea can next to it so you can see how tall the buds are. It’s the first time I grow a plant with LST so I have no idea how much this plant will harvest. How much would you guess this plant will harvest? My guess would be 50 grams.. what’s your guess? Nothing can be won if you guess the right weight 😂 Thanks for checking out this diary. Feel free to comment or to check out my other diary (moby dick xxl auto) Peace to all! It’s over, it’s all over. I found mildew.. it’s the first time ever that i got this. 1 branches was heavily infected and I stressed like a MF. I have cut the branche off and cut every stem branch and leaf that was infected. I asked google what to do it and it told me I needed to spray 1 part milk and 9 parts water.. so I did. Now I read that you cant do it during flower and I’m in flower.. So I think she’s done for.. Anybody have experience with this milk spraying thing? Or if you have tips for me on how to safe the plant.. but like I said I think the milk/water on the buds is going to ruin it.

Day 87 Northern Light Auto. Hi all. I still have the mildew problem but it stays managable so every day I go have a look and whipe off the tiny small white spots. I’m Thinking of cutting her early but as long it’s not getting to bad I want to let her mature. Once I cut her I will was the whole plant with Hydrogen Peroxide mixed with normal water. Otherwise she seems happy, buds aren’t getting crazy fat because of the stress I gave her. Started to flush her about a week ago, going to try and give her another week to fatten up a bit. Anybody experience with washing buds with hydrogen peroxide? Jorge cervantes does it everytime with an outdoor grow, and he knows a lot about growing cannabis. Still I’m shitting bricks to do it lol Peace all.

She grew really good but 2 weeks ago I found powdery mildew.. tried to manage it but didn’t want to loose my whole harvest so I harvested 2 weeks early. The trichomes where milky so it’s not the end of the world. Because of the small mildew spots I washed my whole plant with h202 9 parts water 1 part h202. Now they are drying once I have the final weight I will update this. Update: The buds are getting more dense during the drying. And they give me a nice buzz. I Use cannabis for my MS and this strain loosens up my muscels like the best! Taste isn’t the best I had but they still need to cure so it’s only going to get better. Because of the mildew i got a bit scared and wanted to dry them faster than normal. Normally i try to get at least 1 week but now it was ready for the jar in 5 days. The wash worked great, it’s really smooth to inhale even without a cure. And there is ZERO sign of mildew. Now waiting for my bubble hash bags and try to get the maximume out of the plant, I saved all the trim and hoping on some quality hash.

It’s a shame mildew got to this plant. I harvested her at least 2 weeks to early. Buds are a bit airy but the taste and high are great. I ordered some Ica-o-later bags to make some bubblehash with the smallest buds and trim. Thanks for checking out my diary!

@CoastGrower Curled or rippled leaves suggest over watering, and that could account for the nitrogen deficiency exhibited by the pale color. Get an $8 moisture meter, and let the soil reach the moist/dry border before watering again. Late in flower, let her get truly dry for a day or two before watering. I don’t really get the widespread popularity of autos, but in your case the Ruderalis gene has strengthened her against cold weather. Leave ‘em be. Plants don’t like to be moved around. Ruderalis grows naturally near the arctic. She can take 50o nights. Adding a heat wrap to keep the roots a bit warmer will speed growth. Or just set out flagstones to warm up in the sun and place the pots atop them for the night. That will help a little Best wishes for the harvest of your dreams! Keep at it!!

@growdoctordc, what you say makes sence :) I’fI move them I will make sure they always face the same to the same direction.
growdoctordc
growdoctordccommented6 years ago
@CoastGrower, It is standard practice to give plants as much direct sun as possible, and I have always stood by that concept. But a few things we don’t conpletely understand are in play. Plants are stationary creatures in nature. If you move their pots around maybe they ‘’feel’ disoriented, which could result in stress that slows growth. At least be conscious of the cardinal directions when you move them - meaning don’t turn them around at all. Whatever faces west still faces West after you move it. Make sense? I know I have some esoteric ideas about plants that can never be proven. As for direct full sun, I have a friend who grows on his roof, surrounded by trees. His plants get dappled sunlight only. They truly qualify as shade grown. The plants are big bushes and the calyxes are huge and resin filled. Cannabis adapts to ANY and ALL conditions. Even better if you can breed your own seeds, and grow them again and then again. Each generation does better with its relocalization. Eventually you have a landrace strain - a strain originally from another part of the world, that has fully adapted to its local conditions. Enjoy!

CoastGrowercommented6 years ago
@growdoctordc, thanks for the tips. I didn’t gave them water for 5 days and this morning I gave 0.3L. The soil was pretty dry, top 3 cm bonedry. Isn’t it better to move them around so they get the most sun? I move them 3 times a day so they get 12 hours of direct sunshine a day. I grow autoflowers because of the climate.. years ago I used normal seeds but every time I lost so much because of toprot.. these Will bloom when the sun is out the most. I have a Kalini Asia with my mother that’s not a autoflower, wanted to try it 1 more time. Thanks for the tip, goingto buy a thing to check the moist in the soil just to be sure.

you cancelled your question while I think I gave you the right solution to your wrong problem dude ?…. not a nice attitude in my opinion… i maintain it is most probalby white cochineal wich done that because i already had this…. if it was mildew your stem around will not healthy like i told you… I thought you'd be happy to know that you can Always do a good Harvest .. i explained you by chat that is simple to kill by inspecting regulary most early in Morning or later evenning...and i give you info on a product you can find on my main page that you can use even in flowering time….link of white cochineal….but if you are sure of your problem why asking ? ---------------- Man, take our time to help others growers is based on the notion of a virtuous circle in a sense ….be careful if you break it because in the future pppl like me may not come to help you anymore…👍 like i said there is Always a litle possibility i was wrong but i tried to show you and at distance it's not so easy sometimes
the_curious_grower
the_curious_growercommentedweek 126 years ago
@Coastgrower, as seen on the pictures i would say it is mildew. it does not look like cochineal since as far as i know those are insects. you could treat your plant by mixing 100 ml milk, 900 ml water and four teaspoons of natriumcarbonate. and yes your plant is already flowering, but the precautions of using this mix on a flowering plant are morely about the milk on fat cola's which might get a musty smell. so go easy on it and best is to use skim milk. another mixture could be two teaspoons of biological appel cider vinegar, half a teaspoons of natriumbicarbonate with 1 liter of water. hopefully it will be all right mate!

@@@Anonnabis, when she sprouted and had the first 2 sets of ‘real leaves’ I bend her to 45 degrees so the sidebranches get more sun.. then when the branches get longer I train them. And I tuck leaves under the branches so all the sidebranches get the most sun as possible. It’s the first time that I have been doing it and I think I will never stop. I rather have 20 uniform nugs and not 1 massive cola. Thanks for your comment.

@Windowgrow, I have red somewhere that the wind helps them to grow strong branches. Also I take them inside every evening around 9 (someties earlier if the weather is really shitty) and put them under 16W led lights till 10.30 next to the windom. I think that helped the plant to get bushy. Now I hope all buds are going to fatten up and get really dense. Tomorrow I will do an update, she’s grown a bit more 😀.

100 growers will give you a 100 different answers. Defoliation is a controversial topic; the best advice is to try it and make your own mind about it. I tried defoliation and although it did not hurt the yield, I noticed no advantage to it. I pluck leaves that are about to fall and get off with barely a tug and that's it.

Nice genetic I will grow this auto this season too. The brown spot on the leaf isn't a big issue I think it could be any kind of stress ... little nute burn or did you transplant her recently? Than maybe its a little transplant shock. I dont think that the soil is to rich in nutrients because she looks kind of light green to me and not as dark green as she could when she gets fed perfectly. But oudoors it is difficult to provide the perfect enviroment so don't worry! Keep Growing! 👍
