Borberad Eternity Broccoli Grow Cup I'm super excited to be part of this competition again this year. The challenge is clear: to get the best out of the genetics while finding the perfect balance between nutrients and light management. For this cup, I consciously chose the photoperiodic Sticky Broccoli from Zamnesia over the auto variety to have full control over the vegetative phase and plant training. My goal is not just to raise a healthy plant, but to provoke the maximum amount of terpenes and resin production. Join me on this journey from seed to harvest! Strain Profile: Sticky Broccoli (Photoperiodic) To understand what I'm working towards, let's take a look at the details of this extraordinary strain. Feature Details Genetics Indica-dominant (Hybrid) Parent Strains Gorilla Glue x Broccoli Kush (Selection) Flowering Time 8 – 9 weeks Size (Indoor) 100 – 150 cm (strong stretch after switching) Yield Potential High / XL Color Spectrum Deep dark green with purple accents at cooler night temperatures Terpene Profile Earthy, musky with a distinct note of fresh pine resin and broccoli nuances Effect Strongly relaxing, body-focused ("Couch-Lock"), but with a clear, focused mind Week 1: Germination Week (Of course, there’s no fertilizer yet, but it needs to be entered for registration) Day 0.1 Here we go, quickly tossed the seeds in 1% H202 and just 15 hours later, they’re going into the easy plug. Day 0.8 and finally the little one is showing itself! We had already given up hope and were about to start a second one, but the little head is actually growing out of the soil. Day 0.9 and it still doesn’t really want to come out of the shell. Either it’s an extreme late bloomer or doomed to fail. Darwin sorts things out in the plant kingdom too. We’re giving a second little flower on the same path a chance to join the race. The fitter one gets to stay. Day 0.2 of the second seed and it breaks the surface. Day 0.3 Yes, it’s a little flower! Day 0.4 It’s getting a bit of osmosis water; the easy plug seems a bit dry. Day 0.5 Dry again! It’s time to move into the cube. Day 0.6 I've had seedlings that looked fitter, but it will still become a broccoli. Day 0.7 Progress is being made.

Borberad She's not really pretty, so we'll probably plant the 3rd seed and see if that one turns out prettier; in that case, we'll swap.

Borberad Seed 3 still hasn't shown anything by day 5. To ensure our germination process, we planted a comparison seed under the same conditions just to see if there's a systematic error. However, that one has already broken through the soil and has active cotyledons. So it can't be the process: Temp. constant at 25°C, humidity around 75-80% with Osmosis water through the Easyplug. The opening in the plug was loosened generously beforehand. We'll wait; for now, the little pretty plant has to hold up as a model. Maybe it will still crawl out. On day 6, the seed was dug out a bit; at least it has germinated and grown a bit. We'll wait and see if it wants to grow further. Day 7 No. 2 To keep moisture fluctuations low, it was placed in the larger cube, and to avoid algae formation like with No. 1, it was mulched with coconut.

Borberad Seeds 3 doesn't really want to either. So we're reluctantly continuing with the only little flower we have left. So let's quickly put it in the 3L pot.

Borberad Week 5 The little flower that we have left seems to have done well. It's always worth not giving up hope! Now it's going into the final 15L pot and off to bloom.

Happy Harvest Day!

Unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be this time. The little flower did its best. We think it was due to the transport. After a long think, we concluded: The shipping company delivered the package while it was lying on the air vent of the front windshield heater and handed it over nice and warm. So we couldn't honestly assess the plant. However, the lady with the initial difficulties really came into her own towards the end. Aside from the hermaphroditism of the flower, which might be attributed to too much stress as a seed, seedling, and young plant. Therefore, 10 stars.

@Turtleinweed, Thanks, Nr.2 is already showing prettier leaves right now. 🍀

Hey, don't you think there's a genetic issue? The leaves are weird at first. I have the same problem too.

Borberad commented6mo ago
@CRAIG971, Unfortunately, the first seed didn't germinate at all. The second one produced this little flower here (No. 1), maybe it's due to the algae that it looks like this. The third seed just germinated on day 6 and seems to be opening up further on day 7, but it's very slow. The "comparison seed, Baked in Hossegor" and even the Cherry Strudel that was started a bit later are already much further along. My impression: my three are at least not the fittest. It could be due to transport, batch, bad luck with these three seeds, and many other factors. In many other diaries, they look good.
