Day 1 germinating seeds in peat pellets. Will transfer to a DWC hydro system after germination. First time growing! Day 2 set up DWC system, ph balanced, added nutrients for seedling stage. Just waiting for the seeds to pop out! Day 4 they finally popped out! the back left seed was growing on the side of the pot not in the soil so I had to dig a hole and move the super fragile seed. Hopefully it doesn’t die!!!! Day 6 it looks like the little guy is going to make it! He is actually bigger than the other seedling at this stage. I helped him shuck his seed so he is standing tall!

Day 8: Accidentally dropped the grow light on the poor seedlings. Bent 1 stem pretty badly. We will call it HST. 🤷‍♂️ I also dropped the grow light down the led is doing a great job dispersing heat and they seem to really like the light close. Will update daily this week. Intend to move one seedling to DWC bucket when my new light comes in. Other seedling that is bent I will let recover before moving into DWC bucket. Poor guy has had a tough life thus far. I transplanted the strong seedling into DWC bucket. I soaked the seedling in a cup of distilled water to remove the peat and then put it into the DWC bucket. I surrounded it with the clay pellets. I was worried at first but he has already straitened out and is looking ok thus far. If this didn’t kill it idk how people kill plants. I feel like they’ve been abused their whole lives 😂 Stay tuned.... A ton of growth between day 10 and day 12. In two days roots are through the net pot and the leaves have grown 1.5x. Going to transplant second seedling soon Transplanted the second one now. Made my DWC bucket, soaked the clay pebbles, soaked the seedling in ph balanced water to remove the soil, then I placed the root ball in the bottom and filled with pebbles. I put a lot more pebbles in to support this one because of how bent the stem was. Hoping he bounces back like the first one 🙏 Some yellowing is occurring on the first plant. Cal mag problem perhaps? I’m Unsure what’s causing it

I cannot figure out what is wrong with the plant. I have switched out the lighting and nutrients. Adjusted ph. Can not figure out what’s causing the wilting as well as the yellowing of leaves especially the underneath leaves. Please help!!!! Well after struggling to figure out the problem (and trying literally every potential problem) figures out my plant was “overwatered”. Drowning in water because it was too high! Noobies be aware. It’s possible. But she’s looking much better just 2 days after fixing the problem. Ton of growth last 2 days. Roots are starting to explode. Really excited for next week!

It’s been a very interesting last 10 days! 1 plant has just absolutely exploded in side. For the last 3 days it has doubled in growth every day. For the other plant.... it had root rot. I cleaned up the dead roots and I think she will make a full recovery. But the difference in size is incredible! I’m thinking about topping the one plant here soon. Whatcha guys think?

First day into week 5 I did a complete bucket change out for both plants. Plant is growing into a complete bush. Other plant is starting to catch up a little. Still learning the best way to tie down the plant as well as when/where to deforest. Got some unique photos today due to the white mold I found. I removed all the clay pebbles, replaced them with new ones, replaced the bucket with one I sterilized, added new nutes, and ordered a fungicide just in case. I’ve read to add hydrogen peroxide? Will this harm my plant, or effect the growth, and how should I add it/quantity. I.e spray the affected area or add to water? Thanks in advance for any help

Today on the clay pebbles i noticed mold is growing! How do I prevent this in the future, treat this best now, and what causes it?

Hi @BUD_DIES! My bet it that your bubbler is not strong enough, water should be in a perpetual movement with oxygen injections, do you inject air into you water? Is the water moving continuously in a random flow? How old is the pump/bubbler, have you been cleaning it recently? Also, I think you can raise the water level by a few inches, your rootmass should be entirely immerged into the solution. Hope this will help, keep us updated and happy growing!

Good week of growth. The mold is a thing of the past. I topped the smaller plant in 3 places it was growing too tall and not bush at all. Thinking about switching to flower either end of this week or next week.

Still battling a potassium deficiency. Not sure exactly why. I raised the temp of my tent by 5 degrees and I flushed the system. Been using fox farm nutrient schedule the entire way except for adding cal mag and hydrogen peroxide. Boosted the cha Ching and added an extra tablespoon of the base nutrients. But I’m still proud of the way this guy is looking 💪 🌱 💨 Mid week update! Got a new microscopic camera... so enjoy the view 😉

So yesterday was chop day! After getting a wet trim and most small buds pulled off the 2 plants are just under 1000gs. I’ve decided to do things a couple different ways for the dry. I’m going to do some buds in brown paper bags (older guy at the hydro store says it’s the only way he’s ever done it) and I also hung the rest up on some skirt racks I bought. I’m going to keep the lights off 100% for the first 3 days before I even check on them. I have a little hygrometer in a bag so I can check on the humidity through an app. Overall I’m really proud of the way this grow went. I made tons and tons of mistakes and this plant just kept on chugging along. I can’t wait to apply all of the knowledge I have learned in this one to my next grow (which I JUST started.) GSC round 2. Thanks for reading! I hope I can help someone else with their first grow through this diary. If you’re thinking about trying to grow just know I made tons of mistakes you just need to figure out the mistake and the plant will still reward you. (Don’t go cheap in lights either) I’ll update when the cure is done until then peace ✌️ and check out my next diary I will be starting real soon

So I figured it out! I had wayyyyy too much water in my DWC buckets. Roots actually starting growing back into clay pebbles. I drained out close to a gallon and disconnected the air hose so the medium could dry out. Plant is already looking so much better. I will post pics tomorrow

Also water level is at the net pot should it be higher?
robthegardenersteele

@@lilbp420, fair enough, my experience is that jiffy pots invite moulds and bugs. I've seen 4ft tall plants in 2inch net pots, roots swimming in water with nutes. No organics at all, strictly mineral, with the only issue being algae on the rockwool if it gets wet and spider mites at certain times of the year.. only pest control is some sticky traps and cold water sprays when bugs arise.. but to each their own. Cheers
lilbp420
lilbp420commented5 years ago
@robthegardenersteele, I think I will try that with autos some time soon. For my longer grows I'm thinking the 3inch might be on the small side. The purple haze I have going in a 5inch is quickly growing bigger than one of the my Super Lemon Haze and on pace to be much bigger. I use rapid routers or jiffy pots for planting then into the clay pebbles once they show up.
robthegardenersteele
robthegardenersteelecommented5 years ago
@@lilbp420, ever consider dropping down to 2" net pots for the duration? Plant stalks shouldn't exceed that size in an indoor deep water grow. Save a few bucks on rockwool too...

How are your roots looking? Is that 600W LED the actual draw from the wall or the "equivalent" rating? I would get the light closer. I use a very light feeding till I have a good set of roots.
lilbp420
lilbp420commented6 years ago
@BUD_DIES, I would cut the bloom food, and bring the light closer. I try for 200-400ppm at this size
BUD_DIES
BUD_DIEScommented6 years ago
@@lilbp420, it’s 180 actual draw. Also the roots are through the net pot but not vigorously. Think I back off nutrients for the week and see what happens?
robthegardenersteele
robthegardenersteelecommentedweek 56 years ago
Try rockwool instead of clay, smaller net pots, as the roots are in h2o, the pots are support, as well as add trellis to help with weight distribution. Mild peroxide solution can be used to sterilize immediately followed up with a triple rinse. But don't let it contact the plant at all if possible as peroxide will strip the protective waxy coating on the leaves and stems making it easier for pests and moulds to attack, same goes for the unprotected root hairs.. careful if you do.

@robthegardenersteele, well that was a far away problem! My biggest issue now is my patience! 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

@Stick, I actually have 2 air stones in the container and they were both brand new when placed in there. Air pump is also brand new. I have not been cleaning them however. The plant seems fine but my other plant just got the mold now too so I’m going to repeat the steps I did for the first bucket
