Still battling a potassium deficiency. Not sure exactly why. I raised the temp of my tent by 5 degrees and I flushed the system. Been using fox farm nutrient schedule the entire way except for adding cal mag and hydrogen peroxide. Boosted the cha Ching and added an extra tablespoon of the base nutrients. But I’m still proud of the way this guy is looking 💪 🌱 💨 Mid week update! Got a new microscopic camera... so enjoy the view 😉

Today on the clay pebbles i noticed mold is growing! How do I prevent this in the future, treat this best now, and what causes it?

Hi @BUD_DIES! My bet it that your bubbler is not strong enough, water should be in a perpetual movement with oxygen injections, do you inject air into you water? Is the water moving continuously in a random flow? How old is the pump/bubbler, have you been cleaning it recently? Also, I think you can raise the water level by a few inches, your rootmass should be entirely immerged into the solution. Hope this will help, keep us updated and happy growing!

So I figured it out! I had wayyyyy too much water in my DWC buckets. Roots actually starting growing back into clay pebbles. I drained out close to a gallon and disconnected the air hose so the medium could dry out. Plant is already looking so much better. I will post pics tomorrow

@QQNPK, I think that’s caused by the P deficiency 🤦‍♂️ But thanks!

Also water level is at the net pot should it be higher?

@@lilbp420, fair enough, my experience is that jiffy pots invite moulds and bugs. I've seen 4ft tall plants in 2inch net pots, roots swimming in water with nutes. No organics at all, strictly mineral, with the only issue being algae on the rockwool if it gets wet and spider mites at certain times of the year.. only pest control is some sticky traps and cold water sprays when bugs arise.. but to each their own. Cheers

@robthegardenersteele, I think I will try that with autos some time soon. For my longer grows I'm thinking the 3inch might be on the small side. The purple haze I have going in a 5inch is quickly growing bigger than one of the my Super Lemon Haze and on pace to be much bigger. I use rapid routers or jiffy pots for planting then into the clay pebbles once they show up.

@@lilbp420, ever consider dropping down to 2" net pots for the duration? Plant stalks shouldn't exceed that size in an indoor deep water grow. Save a few bucks on rockwool too...

How are your roots looking? Is that 600W LED the actual draw from the wall or the "equivalent" rating? I would get the light closer. I use a very light feeding till I have a good set of roots.

@BUD_DIES, I would cut the bloom food, and bring the light closer. I try for 200-400ppm at this size

@@lilbp420, it’s 180 actual draw. Also the roots are through the net pot but not vigorously. Think I back off nutrients for the week and see what happens?

Try rockwool instead of clay, smaller net pots, as the roots are in h2o, the pots are support, as well as add trellis to help with weight distribution. Mild peroxide solution can be used to sterilize immediately followed up with a triple rinse. But don't let it contact the plant at all if possible as peroxide will strip the protective waxy coating on the leaves and stems making it easier for pests and moulds to attack, same goes for the unprotected root hairs.. careful if you do.

@robthegardenersteele, well that was a far away problem! My biggest issue now is my patience! 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

@Stick, I actually have 2 air stones in the container and they were both brand new when placed in there. Air pump is also brand new. I have not been cleaning them however. The plant seems fine but my other plant just got the mold now too so I’m going to repeat the steps I did for the first bucket
