Germination

kyle463 First time grow. Looked at loads of YouTube videos and diaries. Best find was probably the understanding the guides on lights and nutrition is aimed and Photos and not autos. So made some adjustments with the help of GPT and cross referencing with other diaries. I am not sure how this will go but I am interested on learning the skill so I can eventually start growing well. I'm hoping to get it to the finish at least, with some buds XD Germination - Left the seed floating in water, dark cupboard. In less than two days the seed had opened with a tiny route starting to pop out. - Pre saturated the Bio Bizz light mix with water, left for about 3 / 4 hours and then planted the seed directly - on the 2nd day we had a little sprout popping out the soil Set up remarks: - I have enough equipment for success I just need to use it correctly. Will be getting a exhaust fan soon, probably during veg in prep for flower. - Decided to grow in winter so I can control the temperature better. Inside the tent it is a consistent 22 / 23 C and it is close to a window. So when i get to flower and dry I will be able to open the window and drop the temperature to where I need it to be. - Tent is only 120 high, so if I do well I will need to LST which I will do regardless but lets see how big or small we can get

kyle463 Coming up to week one and had some light issues. Nothing to bad so far though. Plant stretch so not enough light and you can see it was reaching. Increased and slowly started to settle. I am finding my adjustment using and phone Par meter and making small changes daily with the light. I think I am now at the right point. Watering - 250ml of plain water with cal mag 0.3 per L (as I'm using soft water). 4 days after the seed was planted. And once more 3 days after that same water amounts. Soil is currently moist and starting to dry out but I think that will last another 2 days. Lets see. lets see how it goes but did stretch a bit!

kyle463 So this week was good, There were again a few minor issues but they were simple to solve. Growth has been speeding up and I think LH 1 is getting its first 5 leaf. Update from last week: I had a spare seed and planted it 4 days after the 1st plant appeared. Interestingly it grew to the same hight fairly quickly and is now growing it leaves out. Light: This was always an issue as I only had a LUX meeting. LUX does work but the internet readings dont always relate to results on your plant so I have given up on matching what was advised and adjusted to the plants reaction XD. I now use Photon app with the light diffuser. I am currently sitting and 160 / 180 PPFD and the plants seem to work well there. - So as you can see there was some small leaf curl. - I had it at 240 and it was just to much for them, lowered it to 200, still some curl and then went down to 160 and ended up at 170 / 180. This has been there for the last few days the curling is disappearing and the plants are showing new growth every day at a faster rate. Water: RO water is being used with 0.3 ml per L CalMag right now. I have kept the soil dryer than anything else and watered when it was mostly dry and that seems to be working well. I am considering using Bio Bizz Grow on LH1 but I will wait until the next feed. The plant is still green. not dark green anymore so I think it may be time to give is 1/4 dose of the advised and see how it reacts. The Week to come: I will be on holiday for 4 days. I think they should be okay as they have been needing water from 3 / 4 days. So I have just watered them now and will be crossing my fingers for when I come back. I have also soak the bottom of the soil with a quick bottom feed. Very small area but I want some moister down there so the roots can search for it and grow down. Issue to solve: The plant may of dried to much or could of been the top soil I added to keep strength in the stems when they initially stretch. The soil when watered did not saturate and stayed dry. I googled it and will give it a very small light watering a second time before I go just to make sure the roots are is moist before I Leave. The plant is looking healthy so not 100% sure but I know I need to fix this for the full Veg stag when full watering is required. LH 1 - Seed popped 1st Feb - 14 days old LH 2 - Seed popped 6th Feb - 8 days old

kyle463 Week 3 Overall Comments: The trip away was successful. I watered the plants before leaving and came back to a lot of growth. LH1 is clearly in the vegetative stage, and LH2 is just about to enter it. I’m now adjusting both lighting and watering schedules to match the veg phase. I’ll also introduce BioBizz Grow with LH1’s next feed. Light: I’ve increased light intensity from 150 PPFD to 280 PPFD gradually over several days. The plants are showing no signs of stress (no praying or tacoing), so I will continue increasing the intensity to find their optimal level. They’re performing well, but I want to ensure they’re being fully optimised. Watering: Watering demand has been lower than expected. After being away for four days, the plants still needed an additional day before requiring water. I believe this is due to the lights not yet being at full intensity, which should change as I continue increasing PPFD. I’ll do the next feed from the bottom and prepare the AC Infinity self-watering pots, as I think they’re nearly ready for them. Plant Status: LH1 – 19 days old – 17 cm high LH2 – 14 days old – 15 cm high

kyle463 Weekly Grow Summary This has been another very positive week. The plants appear to be entering the very early stages of flowering. Leaves look healthy overall, with new nodes forming daily and bud sites beginning to stretch and reach upward. Stem development is strong — they are now thick and sturdy, which made LST slightly more challenging than expected. LST: I attempted LST on LH1, though likely a bit later than ideal due to stem strength. To reduce stress, I waited until the plant softened slightly (natural droop) before bending. A 45° bend was applied first, followed by watering, and the plant recovered quickly, turning back toward the light within a few hours. Three days later, I increased the bend to roughly 90°, with a similarly positive response. Leaf tucking temporarily made the fan leaves look slightly sad, but bud sites are now stretching above the canopy and pointing upward, which is encouraging. For LH2, I plan to let it grow naturally for comparison and only remove fan leaves later in flower if they block bud sites. I want to avoid slowing the stretch phase unnecessarily. Nutrition I noticed newer leaves showing a slightly brighter green tone, which suggested mild nitrogen demand. After introducing light nutrients, the color corrected fairly quickly. I will gradually increase feeding over the coming weeks as flowering progresses. Watering Water demand has noticeably increased. Previously watering every 4–5 days, the pots are now drying within 2–3 days. This aligns with the transition from late veg into early flower. I am now providing approximately 1 litre per watering with light grow nutrients and monitoring closely to avoid over- or underwatering during this transition phase. Lighting Current light intensity is around 330 PPFD. I have been increasing it gradually each day, and the plants are responding well. Since these autos have shown sensitivity to stronger light in the past, I am taking a cautious approach. The plan is to reach ~500 PPFD by full flower and then slowly push higher while watching for signs of stress (e.g., clawing or light burn). Environment & Equipment The Mars Hydro ventilation and carbon filter setup has significantly improved humidity control and eliminated odor buildup in the room. The plants have started producing a noticeably sweet aroma, indicating early flower development, but the filtration is effectively managing the smell. Overall Assessment - Healthy structure and vigorous growth - Early flower stretch clearly underway - Successful late LST on LH1 with good recovery - Increased water uptake consistent with growth stage - Nutrient response positive after mild nitrogen addition - Environmental control improved with new ventilation and filter Overall, the plants appear stable, responsive, and progressing well into early flowering.

kyle463 Overview: I have now entered the stretch phase, with pistils and some bud sites beginning to form. I’m not entirely sure whether this still counts as the end of veg or the start of flower, but it is definitely the pre-flower stage rather than full flowering. This week was interesting again. It ended successfully, but I had to make a few adjustments and play catch-up once more. I reacted a little slowly to the plants moving into the stretch phase, which caused some magnesium issues. Fortunately, I spotted it fairly early. I changed my watering approach from letting the pot go completely dry to watering based on the weight of the pot and checking that the top 2–3 cm of soil is starting to dry out. The plants are now drying out much faster and needing water every 1–2 days. Because of this rapid growth phase, they were not receiving enough nutrients for the speed of growth — the plant has now almost doubled in size. The first time I missed this change, the plants started to droop and looked unhappy. I was able to resolve it quickly, and they have perked up and started growing rapidly again. The photos included are from today (the day I’m making this post). Water: To achieve a slight runoff, I am currently watering around 2L of water per plant. I am still feeding once a week, but watering every 2–3 days, checking daily as the drying time increased quite rapidly over just a few days. I don’t want to miss the window again and cause further issues. Right now, I think watering will be required every 1–2 days. From the last watering, it has been about 24 hours and the pots are already close to needing water again. I expect they will likely need watering tomorrow. Nutrients: I have moved from lightly feeding to feeding more appropriately for this stage. I have increased CalMag as I am using soft water, and to support the stretch phase I am giving 1.5 ml per litre of Grow nutrients. I still think this might not be quite enough, as the plants are green but a lighter shade of green. This is actually a good sign, as it suggests the autos are hungry and able to take more nutrients. From most of the videos and reading I had done, I was expecting autos to require less feeding, but it seems during the stretch phase they can handle closer to the full recommended dose. I think giving the full advised 2 ml per litre could be appropriate for this plant. Next week, as I am starting to see what looks like early bud stacking, I will begin introducing Bloom nutrients and gradually reduce the nitrogen. LH1: This plant has been trained with LST. It has worked well and I can see around nine bud sites developing nicely. Because of the LST, I believe it has fallen slightly behind LH2. It is still progressing and growing well, but the pistils appeared later on this plant than on LH2 (which did not receive LST). LH2: Pistils and bud sites are forming quickly and strongly on this plant. No LST has been applied, but I can still see around nine bud sites stretching towards the top of the canopy. Interestingly, LH2 actually has a flatter canopy than LH1, which I was not expecting. Summary: Moving into the coming week, I plan to react more closely to what the plant is telling me. It feels like the plants are currently in a transition phase, and while I know what to do in theory, recognising the exact stage sometimes happens slightly later than ideal. That said, this has been great experience. I think on my next grow I will feel much more confident making adjustments before issues develop rather than reacting afterwards. I will be when I think the stretch is over, removing some of the yellow / block leaves. Overall, I still think this will turn out to be a good grow, even if there were a few learning moments along the way.

kyle463 Overview: This week has been successful. I resolved some of the earlier magnesium issues, and the browning has not spread further. The next adjustment will be introducing Bloom and Top to the nutrient mix. I have already started Bloom, and in the next feed I will add Top while reducing Grow/Nitrogen. Even though LH1 still looks slightly nitrogen and magnesium hungry, it is progressing. Interestingly, LH1 is behind LH2 in development, which I believe is due to the LST performed on LH1 earlier. Bud stacking has started and overall the plants are looking healthy and moving in the right direction. LH1 is also a lighter shade of green. After increasing the nutrients slightly, I’m hoping the colour will return to a healthier shade. However, I don’t want to push it too hard since the plant is still growing quickly and progressing well, so ... don't fix what isn't broken ? Watering: Watered again with 2L per plant, but I may increase this to around 2.5L as I’m not getting as much runoff as expected. Watering frequency is now roughly every two days. LST: No new LST this week. I only spread the colas slightly on LH2 because it was becoming very dense. I also performed some defoliation—removing large fan leaves that were covering bud sites and trimming lower growth. This should improve airflow and allow the plant to focus its energy on the main buds. Overall, I’m happy with the progress so far and hope to keep things moving in the right direction.
