My first time working with Humbolt seeds, I'm really looking forward to the crop. After opening and leaving in glass fully submerged for 6.5 hours, I then placed in some damp tissue in a food container in my boiler cupboard which sits nice around 22-24c. Around 20 hours later and my ladies have cracked and ready to be put in my pre soaked root root cubes (pre soaked cubes in 3ml/l of formulex). I started off with a 150w CFL but got convinced by one of my pals to get an LED so rather then taking the CFL light down on day 5 I just put my LED inconjuction. By day 7 my little ladies was ready to be potted the medium I'm using is mills DNA coco & cork also I mixed in some charge by eco thrive (20ml/l coco). I really hope my dairy helps anybody that decides to choose this strain, also shout out to Humbolt Seed Company.

Slightly behind on my diary as I have had some personal issues. But I increased the feed this week to 2/3 strength and introduced 1/2 strength vitalize, still not really much to comment on just letting them do there thang.

Again majority of the week just waiting for them to reach there 5-6 nodes ready for main-lining. I introduce vitalize in moderation started of half strength at the beginning of the week finished the week off on day 27 and 28 with full strength. Day 23. I noticed a problem with 2 or 3 leaves with a few weird holes and marks I've never encountered before... hmmm... I think I did find out the problem I think it was a problem with my ph down is 86% phosphoric acid and I have really hard water and tap water reading 7.6, I switched to Dutch pro grow Ph down which is 38% nitric acid. I would of used mills grow ph down but for some reason they down sell it in our cultivation shops, it's the same as mills anyways I think we will see if this solves the problem 1.0. Day 27. I stripped the bottom two nodes off to see how the react to stress. Day 28. They seem to be perfectly fine so I went ahead and topped them at there 4th node, I did want to go down to the 3rd but I didnt know how they would take it. The back right I had a little accident when topping as the bud sites were so small on the 4th node and I may have lost one... ooops, so this forced me to make the decision on taking this lady down to the third node as you can see on the pictures. I gave them there first run off feed today around 900ml through each pot and removed the excess from the bottom. Thanks for reading.

Had a bit of a week this week with training potting arms snapping repairing then randomly just giving up! But... I felt like I was having a bit of a stall to my growth, so I had an idea as I am not familiar to familiar with the mills range I added half strength of CANNA Rhizotonic to just one feed on day 32, dont know if it was just coincidence or timing but i went from having no roots out the bottom to having them fingering the bottom of my pots you can see on day 33. I'm also retraining my braches every other day to achieve the desired shape of my babies. As you can see I have re-potted them this week from 4l pots to 20l airpots still running the 400w MH alongside with the 600w (GROW) LED. Thanks for reading, Happy Growing!

Still not happy with the rate of growth at the beginning of the week I dont know if it's the Mills Nutrients or the strain but by far the slowest plants I've witnessed. Just for this week I introduced a serving of B-52 for my little ladies aswell as upping A+B to 2ml/L. Not really much to comment on this week removed a few massive fan leaves which I thought where unnecessarily big for the size of the plants but by the end of this week I'm actually starting to see some growth day by day. Thanks for ready and Happy Growing!

Soo! Eventful week in the tent as I think I I have discovered a lot of my problems with slow growth. So I purchased an EC meter at the beginning of the week and decided to test my run off (rookie mistake this was the first run off since the air pot transfer) and it's fair to say my EC was EXTREMELY fu**ing high... like 3.6 high so this week the first flush I did quarter strength feed I got the run off down to 2.8 then next flush it came down to 2.2 at half strength and the last flush was half strength with an introduction to terpinator and the run off came down to 1.6. It's fair to say I have notice a incredible difference in growth I really want to switch over this week but I'm going to let the plants recover and flick the next week. Little bit worried about space but I love a challenge. Also been a bit of an expensive week as my carbon filter final packed up so I treat myself to a new ram air (6inch) Happy growing!

So this week I have been defoliating the big fan leaves shading the undergrowth in order to promote lower internodes. I hoped to get the EC in my run off lower to give them a nice flush before giving them flowering nutes. At the beginning of the week I was still feeding with an EC of 1.2 and run off was down to between 1.3 and 1.5 and there is clear signs of nute burns on some of my leaves and all the new growth is very light green. So I'm going to flick them at the beginning of next week. Happy growing! 👊👍

First signs of pre flowers appeard 5 days after flicking everything is all good bearing ec run off is a little high 2.3 - 2.5 so I'm going to give them a half strength feed to flush them out again these ladies just dont seem to be has hungry as I would like them to be. But onwards and upwards I'm excited to see where they are next week, but until next time, Happy Growing! 👊👍

This week has been a really good week for me, Growth ✅ Run off ✅ Temperature ✅ Humidity ✅ I am started to do a feed cycle of feed - feed - flush As I am watering evey 3 days should work out to a flush every 9 days Day 78 I started to defoliate underneath the scrogg to increase air flow underneath the canopy Each day I increased the amount I removed working my way up slowly until I had removed majority of the leaves that wasnt receiving sufficient light and was restricting airflow in between all my bud sites by Day 83 I had finished removing all that I will be removing other then huge fan leaves coving/shading areas in upcoming weeks, thanks for reading my diary👊😁 Happy Growing Guys!

Hey Dr. You have a little bit of excess in potassium from what I see. The little browning on the leaves and the burned tips on your pistils are a sign of this. I believe it is the terpinator but cannot say for sure. I would cut it out of the feeding schedule and that should stop the damage from spreading. Your nutrients are pretty much complete without it. Best of luck

So I had a touch decision to make and after talking to a few people I think I'm going to persevere. So the front right plant has started to turn hermathradite, But I have only seen a few pollen sacks forming so I have carefully remover them with sterile tweezers if any more start to form I might be forced to remove her from the tent. The reason I made the decision to persevere is the buds look so nice already so I'm going to let them grow a little longer before I make any rational decisions, I cant bring myself to admit defeat just yet so I will try not to waste any of my efforts. Still I'm a little disappointed but what can you do about it So it's been a hell of a week but we will see if my perseverance pays off. I would like to thank larimar massively for taking time to help and advise me. Happy Growing

What a week, So I did a run off test end of last week and they was really high, but I would like to address the DNA Mills cork as I am using this in just one pot (A) to try it out I used 3/4 (B) to my normal coco in another pot 50:50 (C) in another at a 1/4 (D) then when just my normal coco mix ( E) and I havent seen much difference other then the retention of water... UNTILL NOW. So evaluating all my reading I have from run off this is how it WAS sitting running water with an EC 0.7 Ms/cm A - 2.4 Ms/cm B - 2.3 Ms/cm C - 2.0 Ms/cm D - 1.9 Ms/cm E - 1.5 Ms/cm So my conclusion is that I dont like the cork maybe I'm using it wrong somehow I dont know but in my experience, it seems to be grabbing hold of all the salts and not letting go, so this week I ran litres and litres of water through them to bring them down I can only get A down to 1.4 Ms/cm and am struggling to get it any further down does anyone have any suggestions. As for the deficiency I was supposed to I produce the PK booster beginning of this week and couldn't with the run off being so high, well that's what I'm hoping anyways 😂. Plant A doesn't seem to be swelling like the rest (front left in pictures) I'm hoping this is down to genetics if anyone else has any thought I'd love to hear them. Thanks for dropping in and reading, Happy Growing! 👊👍

This week I have started to feed 3 of my gals as 2 of them the run off is still high. Other then that it has been another good week of growth starting to get some weight on buds leaning over buds I think it's time to order some yoyo's. As for the hermie issue a few weeks back I'm starting to see a couple of my flowers exploding with seeds but I have had a good look around and didnt find anything so I dont know if this is from early days kr not but one of them flowers is packing even with having being polinated... still I am a little disappointed. Leaves. Tips - Burnt
likes
souljasam
souljasamanswered grow question 5 years ago
If things are turning white that would seem like light bleaching to me. Usually, if it is from nutes the burning starts at the tips and works its way in but stays brown for the most part. Are the affected leaves at the bottom or top or all over the plants? I see 1 pic where there is a bud that has leaves with burnt tips and chlorosis of the leaf material between the veins. The burnt tips are likely from the prior overfeeding. Chlorosis can happen from lights being too close or a nutrient deficiency/excess. I would start by watering until you get runoff next time you have to water. Check the ph of your runoff and make sure it is still within the normal range. If it isn't then I would do a heavy flush of the medium to reset the ph levels and clean out any built-up salts. Also, having read your last weeks entry, I would skip the end of grow flush that a lot of growers like to do. It is a pure BS bro-science that doesn't actually do anything. My bud and I did grows at the same time and he flushed while I didn't. The end products wound up tasting and smoking exactly the same. I yielded a bit more, but that was likely because I used a better light. Think about what flushing does. It makes the plant use the nutes in its leaves to grow the buds. So the nutes are moving from the leaves to the buds. That means you aren't actually lowering the nute content of the buds by much if anything. Also, consider that there are some nutes that cannot be moved from the leaves. That means the buds aren't getting everything they need to develop properly and is likely hurting your yields by a small amount. There was even a study done last year that tested flushed vs unflushed buds and found a 5% or less difference in nute content between the 2 groups. So in the end, if you want a good smoke, make sure you are slowly dring your buds and jarring them up before they get too dry so they can cure. The dry and cure is the most important part of the process for breaking down the chlorophyll in the buds and creating a smooth smoke.

First week of flush on the way with no where near as much swelling as I hoped, after last weeks question I decided to raise my light another 4 inches to reduce the burning seems to have helped but I'm not quite sure (it was already pretty bad), the EC of my run off varies between 1.4 and 1.8 by the end of the week, next week I am planning to use straight PH'd water however some one has got me questioning my self. Finished the last week of flushing WOO! and its harvest time! I put them in 48 hours of darkness on Wednesday ready to crop for saturday, I will do a proper harvest report next week when I have them ready to go into curing jars along with some pictures and a full report, but I will add this some of the smells I was getting whilst trimming where unreal smells like pine, citrus, beef and a really faint sweet smell I cant put my finger on... I'm not saying that's 100% what it smells like but it smells similar to wild garlic. Well these b*tches took 14 long hours( could of done it quicker but we made a day of it ) all bud is trimmed and primed for drying then curing. Happy Growing 👊👍

Happy Harvest Day!

So these had about 12 days to dry but within them 12 days after about 7 I started having some testers because I'm so Impatient i needed to know how badly the buds was 'infected' with seeds and it wasnt to bad at all, I will expand on this, but if you are adding the weights up in the lectures and spot a discrepancy it's because I smoked a handfull and gave an oz to my mother for medicinal purposes she has MS (multiplesclorosis), and says it helps with her muscle spasms, so all good! As for daytime/nightime smoke... night time smoke for sure! I must add it is a silent creeper! ,you can smoke this and feel fine quite uplifted and focused on the other hand after about 20-40 minutes on the couch, you become the couch and just makes you feel so relaxed that you dont want to move, then it becomes sleepy. Smells was unreal when harvesting some really strong pine and beefy smells along with some smell I cannot put a finger on a friend said wild garlic but I'm convinced as for taste it tastes like citrusy berries it's actually really pleasant hit in a blunt. As for growing I was advised it was going to be slow, very finicky and guess what it was! One of my ladies I ended up calling my bonsai tree was so fragile just kept snapping everywhere.. next was the deficiencies I mean I know I'm not no expert on feeding but I have never encountered so many different deficiencies it could be to do with the fact I have never used mills before but following there feeding schedule still managed to get many deficiencies so I dont know I'm.running mills next time round just to see if it was this strain that didnt get enough of what they needed from the mills range Ignore the wet weight I forgot to weight it. Update: finished making my press for my dry sift to make my hash ended up with just shy of 14g

This strain gave me mixed emotions all the way through... what a learning curve. But it was so resilient to every training technique I used. It just did not slow it down also had very little gnats it was all a pleasure to grow untill I discovered that one of my plants hermied on me, nearly decided to cut it all down 3 weeks into flower but luckily after speaking to fellow growers on here, shout out to mrs larimar, I was convinced not to worry and would still have some quality fruits and there was no point in cutting it out because of 1% male. Any how I dealt with it was spraying the pollen sacks to stop the pollen becoming air bourne and picked them out with some tweezers luckily there was only 3 sacks but the damage was already done. How ever these ladies powered on through even with multiple deficiencies towards the back end I didnt feel the need to spend more money on this crop and save for the next one. I am almost definitely going to try this strain out one more time to see how good the sweet sensimilla is at it's full potential! P.s. dyslexia makes this even harder to write😂 so apologies if I didnt expand enough any questions just hit me up! And as always Happy Growing!👍👊 Just finished making my press at work for my dry sift check out the photos.

they look beautiful, and just give afuck to those few pollensacks, as we are talked in worst case you got seeds . But those plants be always smokeablel. Just look for the following days after new sacks...... i would have bee a shame to kill them all because of 2 percent male shes still 98 percent a girl and will give you alot of delight moments the colours ( autumn.Leaves) she shows are just asign of getting closer to the end, its regulat and nothing to fear

@DrGreenThumb95, good luck, I am following your diary, When all flowers are pollinated there wont be many white hairs, most turn red after pollination. (in my experience) white hairs are still fertile calyx waiting on pollen. Experts please correct me if I am wrong on that, just from experience. Peace man, lovely garden.

@Mrs_Larimar, I agree there @DrGreenThumb95 , if she only has a few pollen saks, that is what I think is close to the original mom genes, just a few sacks, doesnt make any more. A problem hermie will make balls all the way up the stalk, on new flowers and bud sites, that is the type I cull. Your plants look beautiful.

Very nice scrog. Keep tucking those plants until about 3-4 weeks into flowering and you'll have a very solid flat canopy. Good luck!

Looking very good. well i think its just genetics that one plant is slower, or she get a different amount of light or she dont like the wind... or anything else

DrGreenThumb95commented6 years ago
@Mrs_Larimar, thanks for the input il try and isolate these variables

Thanks for sharing your journey with these ladies! Love your setup big time! I've got a question for you about the screen or scrog. When you set it up the plants will grow through themselves it seems so you dont have to bend them into a spot correct? Sorry for the high Jack brother, newbie and learning still. Cannot wait to seem them flower up!! Looking healthy.
DrGreenThumb95
DrGreenThumb95commented6 years ago
@CanuckVetGrwr, your not the only one that cant wait brother Haha! And the comment about the set up if you could actually see the state of the tent 😂 I need a new one it's a handmedown and all the seems have burst all taped up for light leek etc. 😂 But on the matter of the net no I move them and bend them to where I want the to be until I flick them any questions man fire me a message I'm fairly new to it all too.

I know light leaks can cause hermi
DrGreenThumb95
DrGreenThumb95commented6 years ago
@Kin_G, cheers for your ideas dude! I dont think light leak is the issue but I'm getting a new tent after this one anyways so that should completely eliminate that possibility And like you was saying about the moon I've always thought this to
Kin_G
Kin_Gcommented6 years ago
@DrGreenThumb95, Would just like to clarify/add. I honestly think thay In terms of light leak, light leaking out of your tent should be more of a concern than into. I always think of how I can mimmick nature, obviously not with harsh temp changes and such. In nature the moon can shine up well enough for me to see at night. I also barely ever "see" total darkness at night outdoors. Just my mind though.
DrGreenThumb95
DrGreenThumb95commented6 years ago
@Kin_G, I dont think that's my problem as the tent is sat in a dark room during the day and no one goes near the room when the light are of, thanks for the Input though👊👍

Good choice then if you can watch and manage her it always gives you tough decisions growing this girl.. dam decisions
DrGreenThumb95
DrGreenThumb95commented6 years ago
@Cannibalgardens, massive killer but as suggested I'm going to keep a close eye on them and if the pollen sacks started getting out of control I'm going to have to pull her/him to stop the damage to the rest but just my luck that the plant with the biggest juicest buds on is hermathradatic, but mad respect and love to everyone who helped with my decisions 👊
