Not surprisingly she produced 12 zips of highly resinous delicious bud. The flowers are very loose bud completely covered in trichomes. I much prefer buds like this as they are less prone to bud problems plus they are easy to vape. I was not looking too forward to the strong pine taste, however I was in for a big surprise. The strong pine smell gives way to a much more subtle flavour with apricot and caramel overtones, and it's not even cured yet. She's similar in a way to the Short Stuff Pink Grapefruit but this one Is very clearly pine. The stone is clear and cerebral, and the branches are very thin and sativa like.
To get the most out of this she required lots and lots of pruning as well as defoliating. As I did not top her I had to spend even more time just pulling the side branches away from the main stem to give her a bit of air. Fortunately just when she was ready, the weather became unseasonably dry with RH at 40% otherwise I could not have let her go so long. In the end it was only 18 weeks but it felt longer.
She has immediately shot up the list to my favourite smoke yet. I'll be looking forward to the challenge of growing her, but this time I'll top her and keep the size down to a more manageable 8 zips hopefully. She is a wonderful smoke to blend with a Kush as well. I really like this smoke. Although growing her was a royal pain in the ass. I can see why not many people have much success with her. She seemed very prone to leave problems which I do not have, but I just ignored them because I defoliate anyway, whereas a lot of people would get worried and think it's a nute problem and fuck around, but really I know everything is fine as long as the roots are good.
I've already done a quick test run on the rosin and it's very smooth and light. This would be an excellent strain to press.
I’m growing the same strain outdoor. Mine grows really slow compared to yours :) I’m hoping on sunny weather but it’s cloudy and cold..
Good luck with your grow!
@Freddd, I always tell myself I’m going to leave them alone and then I find myself bending or topping them. She’s looking good and will probably explode any day!
@ThatoneAKguy, yes this is just behind Think Big as my fastest strongest plant yet. I have decided that I'm going to let her grow naturally. First time for me.
Nice looking plant .... I just got done harvesting a Northern Lights Auto and a AK-49 Auto myself, now awaiting harvest for my White Widow Auto, check them out if you can, I wish you success with rest of your grow and ...... HAPPY GROWING !!!!
@Blameitontheboogie, Welcome to the grow, I guarantee it will interesting. This is a replacement bean for a glueberry that didn't make it, it's a freebie but from what I read it looks like it's gonna be fun, I think I'm gonna have three pairs of main nodes for this one not sure. I'm currently exploring the peculiar characteristics of my large pot plus shallow water culture, which is explained on my earlier grows. So far I"m beginning to work out that the way I grow them they have to be topped or they remain stunted. Weird. I'm developing some new ideas in my Three In a Pot, diary. I may apply what I learn from that to this one.
Man this is exactly what you want out of an auto!!! The longer you can get them to PROPERLY veg the better your end result is! My amnesia haze xxl was a 6 weeker. She looks like I wished mine had and Mark is dead on. One of the things I’ve learned is that topping on quite a few auto strains seems to trigger early flowering. Looking great!
Nice job Freddd, nice fade. Man, I wish I had your patience, I never seem to get any fade on my plants. I don't see any dried up pistols on your plants, do you wait till they disappear before harvesting?
@SHAMMYDOG, Some seem to fade some don't. Like my current Blackberry probably won't go yellow, but the buds have come up very fast. With regards to flushing, it's not important at all. Personally my belief and I reckon the science would back me up, but I don't think flushing makes any difference. But the purpose of the way I like to do things is to eliminate all variable, so the only variables come from the plant itself. I reckon it would take me another year of doing this before I was prepared to experiment.
As you can see I do not use anything except standard GH, and the same environment, with no additives, yet every plant is very different. I think the biggest problem that many people have is thinking they have a nutrient problem when they don't. Then they end up on forum clinics fixing non existent problems.
Using a simply hydro like I have set up virtually guarantees a decent result for the home grower. My RH is usually erratic and I don't have exhaust. And my take on nutrients is that GH know what they are doing so why should there be a problem.
@Freddd,. "Fade" (might be old hippie slang, lol) is the nature yellowing of the leaves at the end of its cycle. Hey freddd... You might have covered this before, but do believe in a day or two flush in hydro? Thanks. As for my diaries... Still a little paranoid about posting here in the states. In one state your fine, in another they will give you ten years. Guess which one I'am in. Freddd, thanks for all your posts. I am, a Freddd disciple.
I do see a lot of Moby Dick XXL grows but they tend to be mainly in soil or coco. So a hydro grow is super cool to see and I know Moby Dick XXL auto is going to grow perfect in this type of system 👍
Good luck with the grow my friend. Your of to a super start 👌
All the best ✌️
Mark..
@Freddd, Perfect mate 👍
Your keeping on top of the bending and training really well 👌
Can't wait to see how this hard work pays of when you enter flower mode 👍
Thanks for this week's update mate. I'll drop back in on the next 👊
All the best ✌️
Mark..
@Freddd, In general with Autos I like to let them grow natural with no topping but I do use a lot of LST (Low Stress Training)👍
As for size with enough light Moby Dick XXL Auto can get quite large mate 👊
Going to be very cool to watch her develope over the coming week's 👌
All the best ✌️
Mark..
@Freddd, She should be entering full bloom anyday now buddy and we can't wait to see how she performs 👍
Nice work on the defoliation and done at the perfect time. Now that extra energy can be used by the remaing plant 👌
Keep the updates coming my friend 👊
All the best ✌️
Mark..
@DinafemSeeds, cheers Mark, 7 week update coming later today! This bushiness is going to be a bit of a challenge but all seems to be going well so far.
@Hemposapien, Hi, I've been away for a while but I'm back and will be uploading a new two in a pot grow next week. The only think I can think why it took so long is that, this is the first plant I did not top. It just kept throwing up masses of thin spindly branches and I had to keep chopping a lot off to make some space. It was very frustrating, but in the end, the result was quite good, excellent for pressing. The time they take depends on how they grow, I've found that a good hydro will make them grow longer maying not start flowering for six weeks where they might grow smaller in dirt and start flowering at 4 weeks. You really have to take the suggested times with a grain of salt.
@SHAMMYDOG, I used to use rockwool, it's good for cuttings, but for seedlings it's the eazyplug, or anything like them. It's just like the paper towel but better. The most important thing is cover them and place them in a nice even temperature about 22C
By the look of things your transitioning into bloom mode👍
Your going to get some vertical stretch over the next 14 day's. Then the flower show will begin 👌
Looking good in here 👍
All the best ✌️
