CannaArchive Method: Direct to soil Medium / Pot Size: Seeds were planted directly into 1 L pots filled with BioBizz Light Mix (peat-free) mixed with worm humus. Environment: Temperature: ~24 ยฐC (supported by a small heating mat underneath) Humidity: maintained with a humidity dome for the first 4 days Light cycle: 18/6 Light intensity: ~300 PPFD. โ˜€๏ธ Watering: Lightly watered after planting to keep the medium evenly moist. ๐Ÿ’ง No CalMag or additional inputs were used at this stage. Observations: Both seeds broke through the soil after 4 days without any issues. ๐ŸŒฑ Seed shells fell off naturally, and both seedlings emerged evenly and healthy. So far, both plants look very similar in structure and vigor. ๐Ÿ™‚ Notes: A smooth and uncomplicated germination week. Direct sowing into soil worked perfectly, and both California Octane seedlings are off to a strong and stable start. ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ’ช

CannaArchive Both plants are now about 7 days above soil and establishing their early vegetative structure.๐ŸŒฟ They currently show 2 fully developed nodes with the 3rd node forming. Light cycle remains 18/6 at ~300 PPFD with stable temperatures around 24โ€“26ยฐC. Watering is done with approx. 200 ml RO water + Advanced Nutrients CalMag per plant, based on pot weight.๐Ÿ’ง The full 1L pot is evenly moistened each time. Early phenotypic differences are already visible.๐Ÿ‘€ One plant stays compact at~4 cm while the other shows stronger vertical growth at~9 cm. Despite the height difference, both plants display healthy green coloration with no visible deficiencies. Internodal spacing is appropriate for this stage and leaves are slightly praying upwards towards the light.โ˜€๏ธ Stems are proportional to plant size. Air circulation is maintained above canopy level without direct airflow hitting the seedlings to avoid unnecessary stress ๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ Overall a clean, healthy and promising first vegetative week with early signs of phenotypic variation.๐ŸŠ๐Ÿ”ฅ Excited to see how these two develop!

CannaArchive This week remained fairly calm in terms of plant work, with the main focus on watering and observing development ๐ŸŒฟ The plants were watered with ~300 ml water + BioBizz CalMag, and received 1x Orgatrex during the week. Toward the end of the week the lowest leaves began to show slight yellowing, which indicated that the plants had outgrown their small containers and were ready for transplant. Both plants were transplanted into their 15L final pots at the end of the week. The root systems looked very healthy and well developed, clearly visible when removing them from the previous pots. The new soil mix consists of: โ€ข BioBizz Light Mix โ€ข Worm humus โ€ข Perlite โ€ข A small amount of coco coir The medium was amended with BioTabs and Silicium Flash, and Orgatrex was added to activate soil biology. Additionally, mycorrhiza was applied around the planting hole and directly on the root zone to support root colonization and nutrient uptake. โ€ข Height approx. ~13 cm โ€ข 4 developed nodes with the 5th forming โ€ข Both phenotypes currently very similar in size and structure Light intensity remained at ~400 PPFD under 18/6 โ˜€๏ธ Topping is planned once the plants have fully recovered from the transplant and resume strong vegetative growth. Overall this week marked the transition into the final containers and sets the foundation for stronger growth in the coming weeks ๐ŸŠ๐Ÿ”ฅ

CannaArchive This week focused on structural training and continued vegetative growth ๐ŸŒฟ Both plants were topped above the 5th node to promote a flatter and more controlled canopy. The topping was handled well by both plants, with no visible stress and continued steady growth. โ€ข Topped above the 5th internode โœ‚๏ธ โ€ข Structure beginning to spread out โ€ข Preparing for a more even canopy before flip During the topping, a few leaves were removed that were either blocking light or sitting in shaded lower areas. This process was repeated again about 5 days later to improve light penetration without causing excessive stress. Feeding this week: โ€ข 1x Greenhouse Bio Enhancer โ€ข Otherwise water + Advanced Nutrients CalMag ๐Ÿ’ง Environmental conditions remained stable: โ€ข ~25ยฐC temperature โ€ข ~60% RH ๐ŸŒก๏ธ Clear phenotypic differences are now developing: โ€ข Pheno #1 shows a broader, more lateral growth pattern โ€ข Pheno #2 grows more vertically and stretches upward Both plants responded very well to topping and continue to develop strong structure going into the final vegetative week. CannaArchive This week was all about preparing the plants for the transition into flowering ๐ŸŒฟ Both plants have now fully recovered from earlier stress and are showing strong, healthy vegetative growth. โ€ข Height approx. ~40 cm โ€ข Both plants compact and well structured โ€ข Canopy remains even across main branches Clear phenotypic differences are visible: โ€ข Pheno #1 grows broader with well-developed side branches and a more even canopy โ€ข Pheno #2 shows slightly more vertical growth but remains compact overall Light intensity was increased to ~600 PPFD under 18/6 โ˜€๏ธ Both plants are responding well, staying compact with tight internodal spacing. Watering remains stable in the 15L pots: โ€ข Watered based on pot weight ๐Ÿ’ง โ€ข Advanced Nutrients CalMag only this week Environmental conditions: โ€ข ~25ยฐC temperature โ€ข ~60% RH ๐ŸŒก๏ธ Leaves are a healthy green with no signs of deficiencies. The plants remained very compact, with tight node spacing and strong structure throughout the canopy. Light defoliation was performed throughout the week โœ‚๏ธ Leaves blocking lower growth or shading important sites were selectively removed to improve light penetration and airflow. Overall the plants are in excellent condition going into the next phase. Structure is set, canopy is even, and nothing is holding them back from a smooth transition into flower ๐ŸŒธ๐Ÿ”ฅ Flip to 12/12 is planned for the following week.

CannaArchive This week marked the official transition into flower as the light cycle was switched to 12/12 ๐ŸŒธ Both plants entered the flowering phase in very healthy condition with strong structure and an even canopy built during veg. โ€ข Flip to 12/12 completed โ€ข Plants remained compact and bushy โ€ข Strong branching structure established before flower Despite the lighting change, both plants still showed mostly vegetative growth characteristics throughout the week. Stretch had not fully started yet and no visible pistils appeared by the end of the week, which was somewhat surprising but not concerning at this stage. Phenotypic differences continued becoming clearer: โ€ข Pheno #1 remained broader and bushier with a very even canopy โ€ข Pheno #2 stayed slightly taller with a more vertical structure Light intensity was increased to: โ€ข ~700 PPFD โ˜€๏ธ Watering remained consistent โ€ข Watered every 2โ€“3 days based on pot weight ๐Ÿ’ง Feeding this week: โ€ข 1x BioTabs Bio PK โ€ข Otherwise RO water + Advanced Nutrients CalMag Environmental conditions stayed stable: โ€ข ~25ยฐC temperature โ€ข ~60% RH ๐ŸŒก๏ธ Light defoliation from previous weeks continued paying off, with good airflow and light penetration throughout the canopy. Both plants appear healthy, vibrant green and fully prepared for the upcoming stretch phase. Overall this week served as the transition period between vegetative growth and flowering, with the plants slowly preparing internally for the explosive stretch expected in the following weeks ๐ŸŠ๐Ÿ”ฅ

CannaArchive The California Octanes really started settling into the flowering transition this week ๐ŸŒฑโœจ Even though they still visually lean heavily toward veg growth, the stretch has clearly started. The plants became much denser, side branches pushed upward aggressively and the overall structure is developing into very bushy canopies ๐Ÿ”ฅ PPFD was increased to around 850 and both plants are responding very well so far โ˜€๏ธ The leaves stayed healthy and relaxed with no major signs of stress. Especially the bright lime-green new growth shows how active and vigorous they currently are ๐Ÿ’š Water consumption also increased slightly this week, with watering now happening roughly every 60 hours ๐Ÿ’ง Their thirst is slowly ramping up together with the stronger lighting and faster growth. Feeding stayed intentionally light this week: โ€ข 1x Orgatrex ๐ŸŒฟ โ€ข 1x Green House Bio Enhancer ๐Ÿ„ โ€ข otherwise only water ๐Ÿ’ง No real training or defoliation was done this week in order to keep stress as low as possible during transition ๐Ÿ™Œ Only some very small positioning adjustments were made where needed. Overall both phenotypes look extremely healthy and vigorous ๐Ÿš€ The larger plant is already building a wide and even canopy while the more compact phenotype is catching up nicely as well. A very clean and stable transition week so far ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ”ฅ

CannaArchive ๐ŸŒธ Week 3 | Flower (13.06.2026 โ€“ 19.06.2026) Unfortunately this week didn't go as planned. One of the two Orange Octane plants turned out to be a heavy hermaphrodite and had to be removed from the tent to protect the rest of the grow.๐Ÿ˜ž It was definitely disappointing, but I'd rather lose one plant than risk pollinating the entire room.๐ŸŒฑ The remaining Orange Octane continued flowering without any issues. Stretch is slowing down now and the canopy is filling with healthy bud sites. The structure looks very promising and she has developed several strong tops that are already stacking nicely. Despite losing one plant, I'm happy with how the survivor is progressing and I'm looking forward to seeing what she can produce over the coming weeks.๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŒฑ ๐Ÿ’ง Feeding -4 L every ~3 days -RO water + CalMag - ๐ŸŒก๏ธ Environment - 25ยฐC - 60% RH Training No additional training was done this week. After removing the hermaphrodite, I focused on keeping the remaining plant healthy and letting her fully concentrate on flower development. She responded very well and continues to build a nice, even canopy with plenty of flowering sites.๐Ÿ’š

CannaArchive Despite losing one of the two Orange Octane plants to hermaphroditism last week, the remaining plant had a very solid week of flowering. ๐ŸŒฑ She handled the situation well and continued putting all of her energy into flower production without showing any signs of slowing down. The stretch is now mostly over and the canopy has settled into a nice shape. Buds have started stacking noticeably across all main branches and are beginning to connect into larger colas. Trichome production has also increased significantly this week, with the sugar leaves already becoming visibly frosty. The aroma is still fairly mild but is slowly developing towards a hazy profile. ๐Ÿ’ง Feeding 4 L every 2โ€“3 days RO water + CalMag 1ร— Bio PK (BioTabs) ๐ŸŒก๏ธ Environment ๐ŸŒก๏ธ 25ยฐC ๐Ÿ’ง 58% RH ๐Ÿ’ก ~1000 PPFD ๐ŸŒธ Flower Development No training or defoliation was necessary this week, allowing the plant to focus entirely on flower development. Buds are swelling steadily and resin production is ramping up nicely. Even though the smell is still relatively subtle, the first hazy notes are becoming noticeable and the remaining plant looks healthy and well on track for the coming weeks.๐Ÿš€๐Ÿ’š

CannaArchive Orange Octane had another excellent week of flowering and continues to impress with her overall development. ๐ŸŒฑ The buds have noticeably increased in size over the last seven days, with nearly every branch now carrying well-developed flower sites covered in fresh white pistils. Calyxes are beginning to swell, giving the plant a much fuller appearance while maintaining an open structure that allows for good airflow and light penetration. One of the biggest improvements this week is the resin production. The sugar leaves have become heavily coated in trichomes and the buds are taking on a noticeably frosty appearance. The aroma is still relatively subtle but is slowly becoming more pronounced, with the first hazy notes continuing to develop.๐Ÿ€ ๐Ÿ’ง Feeding 4 L every 2โ€“3 days RO water + CalMag 1ร— Orgatrex (BioTabs) 1ร— Bio PK (BioTabs) ๐ŸŒก๏ธ Environment ๐ŸŒก๏ธ 25ยฐC ๐Ÿ’ง 58% RH ๐Ÿ’ก ~1000 PPFD ๐ŸŒธ Flower Development No training or defoliation was necessary this week, allowing the plant to dedicate all of her energy to flower production. Buds continue stacking nicely across the canopy and resin production has increased dramatically, covering the sugar leaves with a thick layer of trichomes. The terpene profile is still developing, but the light Haze-like aroma is becoming more noticeable each day. Overall, Orange Octane remains healthy, vigorous, and on track for an impressive finish over the coming weeks. ๐ŸŠโ„๏ธ

CannaArchive Orange Octane had another fantastic week and is now entering the stage where the flowers are rapidly gaining density and weight. ๐ŸŒฑ Compared to last week, the buds have visibly swollen, with the main colas becoming much thicker while the lower flower sites continue filling in beautifully. The overall structure has remained compact and balanced, and despite the increasing weight of the flowers, the branches are still supporting themselves well. ๐Ÿ’ช The biggest highlight this week is undoubtedly the resin production. โ„๏ธ Nearly every sugar leaf is now completely coated in trichomes, giving the entire plant a frosted appearance. The buds are becoming incredibly sticky, and resin coverage has increased noticeably compared to Week 5. More pistils are beginning to turn orange while plenty of fresh white hairs continue to emerge, showing that the plant is still actively stacking flowers and has more bulking to do. ๐ŸŒธโœจ ๐Ÿ’ง Feeding ๐Ÿ’ฆ 4 L every 2โ€“3 days ๐Ÿ’ง RO water + CalMag ๐ŸŒบ 1ร— BioTabs Bio PK ๐ŸŒก๏ธ Environment ๐ŸŒก๏ธ 24ยฐC ๐Ÿ’ง 55% RH ๐Ÿ’ก Slightly above 1000 PPFD ๐ŸŒธ Flower Developmen No training was performed this week apart from removing the occasional leaf where necessary. โœ‚๏ธ This allowed the plant to dedicate all of her energy to flower production. The buds have become noticeably denser and even more resinous, while the canopy remains open enough for excellent airflow and light penetration. โ˜€๏ธ The aroma has also taken another step forward. Alongside the familiar Haze profile, a pleasant sweetness has started to develop, creating a much more complex terpene profile every time the tent is opened.๐ŸŒฟ With outstanding trichome production, steadily swelling flowers, and healthy overall development, Orange Octane is looking better every week and appears to be on track for an excellent finish. ๐ŸŒฑ

CannaArchive The final week before harvest has arrived, and Orange Octane finished strong. ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ”ฅ Over the last few days the buds packed on even more weight, becoming noticeably denser and firmer than the week before. The main colas are now rock solid and completely coated in thick layers of resin, giving the entire plant a frosty white appearance.โ„๏ธโœจ Trichome development is right where I wanted it to be, with almost all heads turning cloudy and the first amber trichomes beginning to appear. The aroma has intensified considerably while keeping the same terpene profile, a sweet scent backed by those unmistakable hazy notes that became more pronounced every day. ๐Ÿฌ๐ŸŒซ๏ธ ๐Ÿ’ง Feeding 4 L every 2โ€“3 days RO water + CalMag 1ร— Orgatrex 1ร— Bio Enhancer ๐ŸŒก๏ธ Environment ๐ŸŒก๏ธ 24ยฐC ๐Ÿ’ง 55% RH ๐Ÿ’ก Just over 1000 PPFD ๐ŸŒธ Flower Development No training or defoliation was carried out during the final week, allowing the plant to focus entirely on finishing. ๐ŸŒฑ The natural fade became more visible as the fan leaves transitioned from green into yellow and purple tones, showing that she was nearing the end of her life cycle. ๐Ÿ‚ The calyxes continued to swell, giving the buds a much tighter and chunkier appearance than before. Resin production reached another level, covering nearly every sugar leaf and making the flowers incredibly sticky. โ„๏ธ๐Ÿ’Ž With cloudy trichomes dominating and the first amber heads appearing, she entered the perfect harvest window. Looking at her now, I'm really happy with how this remaining Orange Octane finished after losing her sister earlier in flower. Orange Octane was an absolute pleasure to grow. She stayed compact and easy to manage while producing a surprising amount of dense, chunky and extremely frosty flowers. ๏ธ The resin production was definitely one of the highlights, together with the beautiful purple fade toward the end. The aroma became very intense during late flower, with a sweet profile combined with a noticeable Haze character. She caused basically no problems throughout the entire run and responded very well to my setup. After around 9 days of drying, the buds already look and smell very promising. ๐Ÿซ™ Overall, beautiful genetics, great flower quality and an uncomplicated grow from start to finish. Easy 9/10 for Orange Octane.

CannaArchive Orange Octane has officially reached the end of her journey, and overall this was a really straightforward and enjoyable grow. ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŠ She never caused any major problems and remained easy to handle throughout the cycle, which made the entire run pretty relaxed from start to finish. Before harvest she was given 48 hours of complete darkness. After that, the whole plant was cut and hung to dry for just under 9 days. The drying process went smoothly as well, without any issues worth mentioning. Visually, Iโ€™m very happy with how she finished. The plant developed a beautiful compact structure with a surprisingly large number of well-sized tops. ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ’ช Looking at her shortly before harvest, the canopy was absolutely packed with flowers despite the relatively compact overall size of the plant. The buds themselves turned out dense, chunky and extremely resinous. โ„๏ธ๐Ÿ’Ž Especially toward the end, the trichome coverage became one of the strongest characteristics of this plant. The sugar leaves were almost completely covered, while the flowers developed some beautiful purple and darker tones mixed with the remaining green. ๐Ÿ’œ๐ŸŒฟ At harvest, almost all of the trichomes had turned cloudy with the first amber heads appearing, which was exactly the window I was looking for. ๐Ÿ”ฌ The final fade also looked great, with the leaves transitioning through yellow, bronze and purple shades as she finished. The aroma became noticeably stronger during the final weeks. ๐ŸŠ๐Ÿ”ฅ The profile itself remained consistent: sweet notes combined with a distinctive Haze character. Toward harvest it didn't really change direction anymore it simply became considerably more intense. Overall, Orange Octane was a very uncomplicated plant to grow. ๐ŸŒฑโœ… She responded well throughout the cycle, produced a lot of beautiful frosty tops and required very little intervention toward the end. Considering how compact she remained, I'm especially pleased with the amount and quality of flower she managed to produce. Now that the roughly 9-day drying period is finished, the next step is curing. ?๐ŸŠ Only after some proper curing will I be able to give the final verdict on the aroma, flavor, effects and overall quality, but based purely on the grow and how these flowers look going into the jars, I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what Orange Octane has to offer. ๐Ÿ”ฅโ„๏ธ๐ŸŠ

Hello, beautiful plants! Is that oven accessories or where can I find such cool grid things? ๐Ÿ˜น I find Drainmaster absurdly expensive and have also been thinking about what simple alternatives there are.

@Kushycat, to be honest, I bought 3x to test them and I find them ridiculously expensive for what they are... what can I say, they do exactly the same thing as the saucer and with the saucer (it's a simple grid/metal pot saucer, you just have to check the size) ๐Ÿ˜‚

@CannaArchive, Most stuff is totally overpriced just because it says "Grow" on it. ๐Ÿ˜น Thanks, I'll keep an eye out for something like that!

@cultivars, Thank you! ๐ŸŒฑ It was definitely disappointing, but the remaining plant is doing really well so far. Hopefully she'll finish strong! ๐Ÿ’š

Looks great so far! Did you have any issues or flush the soil before? I'm doing my first grow(s) with the Biobizz Light PeatFree + Perlite as well and always got an EC of 2mS/cm as the first drain despite only using tap water (0.4mS/cm), thought was a bit weird but I'm just a noob, so... ๐Ÿ˜“

CannaArchive commented3mo ago
@kaeba, Thanks ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐ŸŒฑ To be honest, I didnโ€™t do any runoff EC tests myself during this grow since I was mainly experimenting with the BioBizz Light PeatFree on my California Octane run and focused more on overall plant health and organic feeding. I also grow organically with BioTabs, microbes and worm castings, so I try not to chase runoff numbers too much. As long as the plants look healthy and youโ€™re not seeing burnt tips, clawing or other stress signs, I honestly wouldnโ€™t overthink the runoff EC too much in an organic setup ๐Ÿ‘
