Rose - spring 2026

heis0070 Popped a Rose seed from Irie Genetics a few weeks ago. The mom is a red Lebanese hash plant, so I’m hoping for a dumper to make rosin. It’s been a while since I’ve grown from a seed so I’m looking forward to something new. Seedling has been growing slowly in my cool basement the past week or two, but the tent opened up today so in she went into a much nicer environment.

heis0070 She’s looking much happier after a week in the warm humid tent instead of the cold dry basement. I’ll probably transplant into a bigger pot within the next week so I can start training.

heis0070 It was a busy week for this Rose plant. Started the week getting transplanted into her final 3 gallon pot filled with coco. I’ve placed the BluMat drip ring into place so the new roots grow around the spikes but I won’t turn it on for another week or two to allow the roots to fill in the pot better. A few days post transplant she was looking great so I decided to give her a good topping. I’m planning on mainlining or otherwise training pretty aggressively so I figured the less time wasted the better. A day or two post top, I added the landscaping wire to start training the main stalks to grow horizontal. She’s taking it all like a champ and looking good still.

heis0070 Slowly working on spreading the two mains apart horizontally as they grow. Pruned the big fans covering the new growth to give them more light. Otherwise just keeping on. She’s still filling in the pot with roots so I don’t have to water often yet.

heis0070 Using sticks ala the great Pirate Boarder Life as tie down points to keep the main and eventually lateral branches spread out and horizontal. An interesting phenomenon that I’m assuming is caused by the persistent lateral growth is that both of the main branches self topped this week, a few days apart. I will spread the new tops apart like other lateral branches. I decided to do a simpler mainline with only one top and using training to make the other branches in the mainline, but I can definitely see where topping would be a bit easier if not speedier.

heis0070 Side branches really started filling in this week. She’s growing well now and I’ll have to start thinking of how exactly I want to shape her.

heis0070 Rose seems to be a great cultivar for mainline training. The lateral branches have grown horizontally very easily and without stressing the plant. Growing into a large leafy ring. Some pretty skunky odors when defoliating. I’ve ordered a larger tent, which is where this plant will be flowering. Once the new plant arrives I’ll likely be moving her over and flipping to flower shortly thereafter.

heis0070 She’s getting big and bushy now. I’ve got a 2x4 tent coming in the next few days, and I will be putting Rose in there pretty quickly after it gets set up. I’ll probably spread the branches out a touch with a net, but we’ll see. This week just was just maintenance. Watering every three days at the moment and plucking lower nodes that are lower than I want growing.

heis0070 Got the new 2x4 tent in this week and immediately moved Rose on over and flipped the lights to 12-12. She’s been there for only two days now so nothing exciting is happening yet. Once she starts stretching more I’ll likely turn on the new under canopy lights and see how that goes. I did last minute pruning and defoliating a few days before flipping to give her a chance to be totally recovered for flower. She seems pretty healthy to me.

heis0070 First full week of flower went well. She is not stretching much at all so far. Tops started showing pistils the past two days. Watering every other day and feeding recharge once a week. Giving cal mag with every feed as she transitions to flower.

heis0070 Rose has the entire 4x2 to herself as her neighbor ended up throwing a bunch of intersex flowers and had to be removed before pollen could dust the whole tent. She’s making a bunch of nice buds currently and the structure and stacking are looking good. Tons of good tops from the main lining are present and the under canopy lights are already visibly helping develop the lower flowers on the edges of the plant. Not a ton of specific smells besides weed at this point.

heis0070 Stretch finished up, what little there was. This plant really did not stretch much at all. Flowers have begun stacking well, and there are lots of big developing colas. Since the branches stayed relatively squat, I’m not concerned about support later in flower without a trellis net. I was planning to use one but she never stretched enough to make it really worth while. She seems pretty dialed in at the moment so we’ll let her ride.

heis0070 We’re strongly in maintenance mode. Watering daily, supplementing with recharge once a week. Rotating her daily so that all of the under canopy growth gets exposure to the side lights. So far so good, under canopy buds are looking good and tops are getting thick!

heis0070 Summer heat has arrived in the tent. On top of that, I’ve upped my light to where it will peak for this grow (PPFD around 900-1000 across canopy) which isn’t helping the cause. Should be ok though, plant is still nice and stinky when the tent is opened up. I’ll start slowly decreasing the light intensity next week as well as feeding additional Canna PK per the feeding schedule and estimated finishing time for this plant (I’m guessing around 70 days or so). Otherwise this grow is just maintenance at this point. Watering daily and adding recharge once a week for now. I’ll cut the recharge soon as well.
