Ramires Tag 1: Today, the last seed has also found its way out of the soil. The Gelato Mint is an indica-dominant strain that grows about 80 to 100 cm tall, requires a flowering time of 8 to 9 weeks until harvest, and has a THC content of 28%. As with the Hindu Kush and Afghani, I want to top this one after the 2nd node and switch to 12:12 1 to 2 weeks later.

Ramires Tag 8: She's growing pretty well, but she's also getting some "dry leathery" leaves. I think I might have mixed in too much fertilizer when preparing the soil, since this is happening with all the plants and they were grown more or less at the same time. Let's wait and see how it goes.

Ramires Tag 15: The gelato is really taking off. It is only 10 cm tall, but it is starting to form the side shoots of the third node. That's why I topped it. Otherwise, it has lush green foliage. Thanks to the SF nematodes that I added during the seedling phase, unwanted guests are not an issue😀

Ramires Tag 25: She's doing really well. Rich green, good growth, and no signs of deficiency. Today, all 6 shoots were bent down. I won't be doing another topping with her. Since the Afghani and the Skywalker aren't quite ready yet, I'll wait about 2 - 3 more weeks before switching to 12:12.

Ramires Tag 29: she's growing happily without any signs of deficiency or impairment. I bent her down again with some LST and removed a few old leaves that weren't getting much light anymore. Since there were some fungus gnats flying around in the tent, I used nematodes on all three plants.

Ramires Tag 43: She's growing happily without any signs of problems. I looked at a sugar leaf under the microscope. There are relatively few trichomes visible, and almost all of them are milky. It could possibly be a CBD plant. A growmie had a similar case. It's still exciting! 😁

Ramires Tag 50: My beautiful unknown has really stepped it up and put a lot of energy into trichome development and bud growth. She's also emitting a light aroma, but I can't quite place it yet. For better ventilation, I had to remove a few leaves again. The trichomes are about half cloudy and clear.

Ramires Tag 57: She's still going strong, my beauty. The stretch seems to be over since she's only grown 2 cm in height. But she's putting all her energy into the buds, which are getting thicker and plumper. The smell is getting stronger too, though I can't quite place it—maybe a bit lemony, but also spicy/earthy or piney? The trichomes are becoming milky, and the first ones are taking on an amber/lilac appearance.

Ramires Tag 63: She continues to put her energy into the development of the buds. Maybe it's just an illusion, but it looks like the top sugar leaves are getting a very slight purple touch. The trichomes are getting milkier, with amber ones only appearing here and there. I estimate that she still needs about two weeks until the harvest time is reached.

Ramires Tag 70: The buds are getting bigger and plumper, and the purple coloring is also increasing. I checked with 00 Seeds, and they only have one autoflower with purple buds in their lineup, which is the Bubbas Gift. The trichomes are getting more milky, and several are amber-colored. The top fan leaves are turning brown at the tips, and the clusters are "fading" slightly and are light green. I think in one to two weeks it will be ready for harvest.
The grow was quite relaxed, without any problems or issues. A good strain for beginners. However, it wasn't a Gelato Mint as described on the label, but a Bubbas Gift Auto.

Ramires Tag 76: "The End of the Road", today is harvest day. With its coloring and the ratio of clear, cloudy, and amber trichomes, it signals that it's time to say goodbye. The grow went pretty smoothly, even though it wasn't the Gelato Mint. But it doesn't matter at all with how amazing it looks. I only removed the large leaves and trimmed some shoots to prevent any waterlogging and mold. The beauty is now hanging upside down in the basement on the drying rack at 16.3°C with a dehumidifier set to 55% RH.
I think in 8 - 10 days it will be ready for the dry trim. After that, it will cure for 14 days with ventilation twice a day for about 20 minutes, and then into the good old mason jars.
After 8 days of drying, the branches snapped, and it was trim day. It took about 2 hours to clean all the buds, but there’s something slightly meditative about preparing the flowers for curing. It was definitely worth it. We're more than satisfied with the 79g of buds and 21g of trim leftovers. A slightly sweet and floral scent wafted up to us, though not very intense.
Info about the first smoke will follow in about 14 days.
