DerFredlFesl Soooo, since the lovely folks sent me a replacement cutting but my first one has somewhat recovered, I thought we’d start a little project on my windowsill over the summer. I’d like to let her chill in the new pot for another week and then start with the LST training. I have to say I didn’t weigh the Bio Tabs nutrients this time and just dumped a bit of everything into the soil. I think I’ll have to figure out the best way to feed the lady in the coming months anyway :D I’m really curious to see what will happen here on my south side.

Did my cutting turn hermaphrodite? That shouldn't really happen if the light is consistently at 16 hours, right?

Hey there. I’ll try to respond as best as I can. The 16-hour cycle: In theory, 16 hours of light is enough to keep a plant in the vegetative phase. However, if the mother plant was already very mature or if it experienced stress before cloning, it may sometimes show "pre-flowers." What you see in the photo: Looking closely at the nodes (the axils of the branches), what you see looks more like stipules (the small green spikes that are perfectly normal) or female pre-flowers (pistils) than "male bells." The stress of cloning: Cloning is intense stress. Sometimes, the plant reacts by showing early sexual signs, but that doesn’t mean it has become "herma." My checkpoints: The shape of the organs: If they are small balls hanging by a little thread (like a mini banana or a bell), it’s male. If it’s a small teardrop shape with two white hairs (pistils) coming out, it’s a female that’s a bit stressed, but nothing serious. Light pollution: Even with 16 hours of light, if you have light leaks during the 8 hours of night or if your timer is acting up, the plant can panic and "herm." 16 hours is a bit limited for some sensitive varieties; I often prefer to stick with 18 hours to ensure they stay in "growth" mode. The origin of the cutting: If the mother plant had a genetic tendency toward hermaphroditism, the cutting will do the same under the slightest stress. In summary: No immediate panic. At this stage, I don’t see any obvious "balls" in the photo. It’s probably just a reaction to stress or early female pre-flowers. Keep an eye on it over the next few days... I hope I could help you. Have a good evening!

DerFredlFesl As the weather here slowly gets nicer and sunnier, I think next Sunday will be the day I put her on the windowsill. From May on, she'll have the pleasure of being outside with the herbs. I'm really curious to see where the journey with her will go and how a plant behaves with just sun and wind :D

DerFredlFesl So the good Pink Honey is doing splendidly. I'm really considering putting her in the tent in the middle of next month and then sending her into flowering. But I've also planted a few cuttings after I properly defoliated yesterday. Let's see what I decide on.

DerFredlFesl So I have now placed the good lady in my tent and defoliated her well at the bottom again. I’m curious to see how big she will get in that pot. I think I will hang the net a bit lower tomorrow. Today at 12 PM the light will also go out for the first time for 12 hours. The new tent 80x80x180 is set up and I think my new lamp (sanlight EVO 4-80 1.5) will arrive by the end of next week.

Grow Questions

DerFredlFeslstarted grow question 2mo ago
So, since I don't want to make the same mistake again, I'll ask instead :D Once the stretch is over in about two weeks, I should cut out everything that's growing under my net, right?
Solved

GreenHobbitanswered grow question 2mo ago
Exactly. I usually do this 1-2 weeks before the flowering stage, then the plant has time to recover. After the stretch, I normally clean up thoroughly under the net again. Anything that didn't make it up and would later only produce popcorn buds gets removed. This way, the energy goes into the main stems and the air can circulate better. It's important not to take out too much at once. The less stress, the less recovery time your plant will need.

DerFredlFesl I'm so curious about what's going to happen here. The stretch is progressing very slowly, but I think that's due to the 12L pots. I'll wait until the end of week three and then properly remove the small flower clusters down below.

DerFredlFesl I'm now also getting light spots on the upper leaves. Could it be that my humidifier is broken and I have too little humidity in the tent? The humidity is around 40% with the lights on. According to the internet, it would be due to the low humidity. With a bit of luck, the problem will be solved in two to three days. I'm very curious to see if the good lady will recover a bit then.

DerFredlFesl The good lady is getting worse every week... Trichomes are slowly turning milky, I hope she lasts another week or two. Then the harvest would at least be at a good time.

Unfortunately, I had some powdery mildew on the leaves. The duck was now on day 45, there could have been a bit more in it. But better safe than sorry, and a large part of the trichomes were already amber-colored.

DerFredlFesl Unfortunately, it's being harvested again at just under 33 degrees, but that's just how summer is. I'm really looking forward to the smoking results, the smell is already very nice, and I'm curious about how it will affect me; it should still stand for another two weeks under optimal conditions.
