Candyland - Surprising Autoflower

birdmountain Unfortunately, Candyland #1 didn't make it and had to be sorted out, but #2 and #3 are very well-grown, strong plants. They feel very comfortable in the Lightmix soil and are developing beautiful, strong leaves. In good weather, they are already outside in the greenhouse during the day.

birdmountain The little pot was well-rooted, so this week it was transplanted into a larger pot with Allmix soil, which it has really appreciated. It's growing strong and fast, and it will need to be topped next week. So far, it's been delivering excellent performance.

I'm curious to see where the journey with her goes. The parameters seem to be right, and she stays outside all day since the cold east wind has lost its strength and the nights have also become warmer.

birdmountain Candyland is truly a vigorous Sativa, now standing at 52 cm tall, even though it has already been topped once. However, its internode spacing is also quite large. So, multiple toppings and maybe even some HST will be in order. I'm looking forward to transplanting it into the final pot next week after the Ice Saints.

birdmountain This is not the photoperiod plant that I bought according to the breeder. This is an AUTOFLOWER that is messing up my plans. According to the breeder, there is no Autoflower Candyland. I'm still not going to dispose of it because its scent on the main stem is promising. Either it was accidentally crossed with Ruderalis or it's a different strain. However, I would have preferred the photoperiod version of Candyland. It was just freshly repotted into a 5 l pot. The length growth has slowed down and the buds are already forming (apparently in the second week).

Despite the flowers, she has grown another 8 cm this week and the flower clusters have become longer. The only question is whether they will also gain in strength and width. Well, we'll see... birdmountain When I compare the buds to those from last week, the difference is very striking. They seem to have literally exploded, and the scent has also increased, although it's nothing special. Many elongated flower shoots are forming, with thick buds growing in layers. However, the leaf-to-bud ratio is very high. She has completed the third week of flowering, with four more to go. birdmountain I wonder how this could happen, because an autoflower doesn't come from a random fertilization of a cross between ruderalis and photoperiodic. Since the autoflowering gene is recessive, fast flowering variants appear in the first generation, and only in the second generation can an autoflower occur. In that respect, the breeder has a problem. He hasn't deemed it necessary to respond to my email about this. That's not good business practice. However, the Auto Candyland is currently without any special scent, the leaf ratio is way too high, and the buds are stacking, which makes them appear larger than they actually are. The breeder also included a Nicole Kush with the delivery, I'm considering whether I should plant it; I don't want to repeat such a failure. Thank you for your visit!

There hasn't been any mold in the buds, apparently the structure of the stacking buds is too open for that. She's gaining a bit of aroma, becoming somewhat lemony and spicy. birdmountain The Candyland, with its airy inflorescences, has come through the week in the polytunnel well, with temperatures reaching up to 39°C. At the start of the week, I pruned it into a poodle-like shape to maintain its airiness, so that it wouldn’t go mouldy whilst still in flower. I’ve managed to remove a few yellow leaves here and there, but fortunately haven’t spotted any mould spots. It doesn’t have a strong smell, but it is quite sticky. I’d say the trichome coverage on the leaves is the lowest I’ve seen so far, comparable to last year’s failed Auto Cinderella Jack. I’m giving it another one or two weeks until harvest. birdmountain This plant is giving me a headache. Is it really an autoflower or is it in too dark of a spot? The foil tent is shaded by the back wall and westward by hedges and bushes. It's positioned close to the back wall. Could it be that this location triggered an early flowering🤣 because Candyland reacts extremely sensitively to it? It has received a lot of water for its standards in the past week, and the black pot got very hot (white ones would be better at this time of year). I also think I can spot a few seeds, probably leftovers from a male Seven Freeze pollination. I still have to decide; let the seeds mature or harvest? 🤔 The flower buds seem to want to keep growing.
