Arcadium Well finally outside and excited to get this diary going! Weather's unreal 17c, 9c nights, a bit of rain yesterday, only been 3 days since transplant and really taking off!
I've got 1 plant in the Hugelkultur and the other in a 10 gallon Air Pot. Really enjoying the Airpots this year!
Soil for airpot was home made compost, HP Pro Mix Soil, mushroom compost, sand, perlite, bone meal and a ton of Gaia Green and some lime. Premixed 3 weeks ago, dropped plants in 3d ago.
Trying a dual mainline for airpot, single main line for Hugel fits shape better. 3rd round of tops 2 days after transplant as they looked so good. Up to 16 now, should easily push 2 more before flower so 64? Will see. Will start compost teas next week, also added Rhino Skin and Diablo Max to this year's lineup. Weekly spray of lost coast and a few hours of drip.
Whole garden is really popping off these last few days! SUPER stoaked to get a great early start this year!! Hope everyone enjoys, last year's WAS great, I've REALLY been enjoying the hash, can't wait for some GG Hash this year!

Arcadium Hot dry week, 24c days, 5c lows, plants are settling in nicely. Airpot is doing incredible, this was home made soil tons of perlite, be interesting to see how it compares to the fully organic matter hugelkultur. Added some shade cloth around the airpot to keep the temps down.
First 90min of drip after transplant, should be every 5 days for now, last year in fabric pots I needed daily watering, will see where we end up come August. Gave a light dose of Diablo Maxx and Rhino Skin, compost teas next week and we should be into regular schedule.
Orb weaver spider hatchlings are everywhere! Had such a good population last year, must have triple this year, they did well. Set a whole cluster loose on my plant and they sure did handle the caterpillars! The one plant is underneath my 50ft cherry, so it gets tons of debris and caterpillars dropping down from it, spiders are my friends. They've since moved on to other surrounding areas, but a few have stuck it out.
No rain in the future, full sun, 24c daily, perfect growing weather!

Arcadium HOT wild heat wave roll through 30c. Had some minor yellow discoloration on the small one, maybe full does of silica +30c heatwave lockout?, didn't bother with PH, but she's still rolling through it.
4th round of topping on both, 32, one more before canopy is filled out and she'll go up. Then maybe one more top to even canopy out will see.
Some minor cattepilar damage, but I'm raising an army of Chickadees through nest boxes (bonus pics). A pair of chickadees can use 6000 to 9000 cattepilars to raise a brood to adults. Will hopefuy nab pics of the fledglings any day now, then will try and quickly clean out nest box and they're known to raise a second brood if the food is plenty, and it is
Compost tea tommorow, 5g bucket, 20ml fish / Kelp, 2 Tbsp molasses, aerated 24hr, then silica / diablo max 1/2 dose before watering.

Arcadium Cooled off this week, 4th top recovered nicely, 32 nodes all secured down, another top next week, 2 week recovery then I'll let it grow up, and maybe one more top before letting her ride it out. I'll add a scrog net to guide the vertical growth up, works well as I can start it low and just slide it up and she grows up.
Just drip irrigation 90min every 5 days, and a half dose of silica and diablo maxx, weekly LCPT spray and that's it for this week! Even the smaller plant looks incredibly healthy, loving life!
Caterpillar damage is bad, but they will disappear shortly and those damaged leaves won't even exist in a month anyways. This fall I'm going to try to wrap my massive cherry tree in sticky stuff to prevent the canker moths from crawling up laying eggs in the fall, will see if next year's caterpillars are better.

Arcadium Smooth sailing this week, caterpillars have slowed, they will burrow into the soil to pupate from now until first frost. Next year I'm going to put bands of sticky tangle foot around the cherry tree in Oct, canker moths will emerge in Nov and have no luck getting back into that tree to lay eggs for next year.
Top dress of a couple cups of home made compost with 20tbps of Gaia Green AP/PB, 70/30, 10tbps for smaller airpot.
Fungus gnatts are always annoying in my smaller pots. Airpots make it fun because now they go in the sides, trying shade cloth which I normally use anyways around the pot. Did some super cropping of the small plant as well, looking good, no signs of flower yet, but I'm sure the pots maxed soon so we'll see.
Witnessed the brood of Chickadees in my nest box take first flight, what a sight. Now I have a family of 7 eating those damn caterpillars.
Half dose of silica / diablo maxx, and some drip, weekly LCPT spray and that's a wrap.

Arcadium Hot, dry, couldn't of asked for better weather all week. 10g airpot started to flower, earlier then last year, should be excellent finishing weather. Super crop abuse from last week is recovering, height hasn't moved which is great, she'll be stackin in no time.
Canopy on the large one is developing nicely, super flat. I pulled the net out which helps to gently guide and redirect the canopy as it gets to max height, and adds some epic support in the later season when size and winds are a factor.
Just a shot of Monster Maxx, silica, 90min drip and weekly LCPT spray this week, smooth sailing.

Arcadium Smooth sailing this week, she's sure gaining height quickly now. Still using bud clips and using the net to guide leading nodes for even spacing, canopy is filling out nicely.
Made a quick compost tea, 20ml Kelp, 4tbsp epsom salts, 4tbsp molasses, ~2 cups home made compost, 4gallons of water, aerate 24hrs, use immediately.
10g airpot is into flower, much more thirsty, had to up the schedule to 90min drip every 4 days, maybe even 3 days, will see. Noticed some minor thrips, nothing major. She should gain another 2-3ft in the next month I'm sure!

Arcadium Cannopy filling out nicely. Using the odd bud clip here and there, using the net as well to even out the spacing. Height growing quick these days!
Top dress this week, Gaia Green AP/PB, mixed with compost and added some insect frass this time. Heavier on PB for 10g, heavier on AP for Hugel. Weekly silica and monster maxx as well, drip irrigation and weekly spray of LCPT.
Smaller 10g is flowering, slow starting, not sure she's fully made up her mind, drying out quickly though! Barely made it 3 days, heat wave for a few days, will have to boost the irrigation maybe 30mi each morning through it.

Arcadium Calm quiet week, hot, did some light defoliating, had to take out quite a few nodes that just couldn't keep up with the overall cannopy. Height gaining fast, she'll be over 6ft before she starts flowering that's for sure. Did some decent super cropping, nodes are still pretty small, so I went easy, overdid it on my 10g airpot but she rebounded fast, hard woody stems now.
Nothing but some silica, monster maxx, and drip irrigation this week. Smaller 10g maybe week 2 of flower, starting to pickup now, she's thirsty, 45min of drip every day to keep up, compost tea next week.

Arcadium Compost tea this week, came out great, hit both plants with it. Height still growing quickly, used another round of bud clips to try and keep it down and even out the cannopy. Did some minor cleanup, some nodes not keeping up and in general anything below the third or fourth node down pinched off. Cleaned up the bottom and inside, will continue to do so weekly. I've left some stragglers on the outside but they'll get a lot more light exposure and couldn't bring myself to hack them off.
Had some light rain and wind for a few days, but other then that perfect growing weather. Drip irrigation, Monster Maxx and silica as well as a weekly LCPT spray.

Arcadium Smooth sailing this week, little rain (8mm) wind, cooler temperatures but she's powering through it. Height control this year is much better, seems like the aggressive 64 cola manifold really spreads out the vertical growth. Pistils already! So she should stretch pretty aggressively over the next 2 weeks. I'd say pistils are showing a few weeks earlier then last year Blueberry Pie F1 Fast, which is great. Not sure if this sativa leaning hybrid will need a little more time though.
Did another top dress, upped by 50% from the last run, 30 tablespoons of Gaia Green 70% All Purpose / 30% Power Bloom. I mix my dry ammendments with around 6 cups of beautiful homemade compost before top dress and remulch with local hemlock bark mulch. I had to peel the drip irrigation hose out of the feeder roots which were wildly aggressive eating every bit of the last top dress. This is the first year I've been using Monster Maxx, super impressed.
So many soil creatures, thousands of millipedes breaking down every bit of that Gaia Green, compost and mulch. Found a massive mushroom at the base of the Hugel a few weeks ago, awesome indication of a thriving soil food web.
Light defoliating of the inside and bottom third, still removing any nodes below the top 3 and using bud clips to even out the cannopy.
10g airport still struggling to push into full flower, heights stopped, more and more pistils every day, and tightening of nodes, so she'll get there soon enough.
Drip irrigation, silica, monster maxx, and weekly spray of LCPT and that's a wrap!

Arcadium Weather all over the place the last week, high of 30c earlier, then highs of 15c and 15mm of rain overnight. Rain is welcome though, our whole area is heavily below average rain / drought this year.
Easy week, I keep shuffling up bud clips every week or 2 to help control height and even out cannopy. I'm letting her spill out the sides as much as possible to spread out her growth and open it up. I'll secure a trelis net maybe early / mid August once I know the stretch is over.
10g airpot is still struggling to push into full flower, stretch has subsided, but definitely not flowering as fast as last year when I used fabric pots. I gather she gets less of that "omg root bound" signal in these airpots then she does when she's maxed out fabric. All good though, just hate seeing her in such a long drawn out decision to flower haha.
The birds just love my top dress compost so much due to the epic number of bugs (worms, millipedes, etc) , more annoying then anything but they're constantly getting under the canopy removing mulch and pecking away at the feeder roots so I may toss down some bird netting.
Other then that she's absolutely beautiful, height is so much better this year, much more spread out, she really is beautiful.
Drip irrigation, silica, monster maxx and a weekly spray of LCPT after she dries up from this rain and that's a wrap for week 18.
@Seedsman, thanks! Hard parts over, looking great, super healthy very vigorous growth, she'll probably still top 8ft even with the manifold. I can't believe the 10g airpot is already flowering great genetics!
@Northern_Ent, Haha I have to keep reminding myself how early it actually is haha. Though I really honed my hash making last year so most of it will go straight to the freezer fresh. Maybe dry an LB for some flower Rosin, will see. Haven't tried Gorilla Gas before but it's supposed to be epic for bubble hash.
@Seedsman, thanks! Last year's Seedsman Blueberry Pie F1 Fast was FAST, super resilient, no pests, minor rot during 95+% humidity at the end but still pulled 2lb on 1 plant before end of Sept, great genetics! Last year's trim and waste was mulched into my Hugel in Oct to feed this year's grow.
growdiaries.com/diaries/265985-grow-journal-by-arcadium
@TuHermosaCaritaTHC, I'm on Vancouver Island, BC, Canada, 49th parallel. Pistils just popped, so maybe mid to late July for flower. I did Blueberry Pie F1 Fast last year, check my profile, same style grow, same Hugel, little more aggressive manifold this year, left the ties on longer, hopefully not as tall this year. That finished last week of Sept, but I pulled a bit early due to early cold wet fall. Pistils are few weeks sooner this year then last so fingers crossed! Here's last year's growdiaries.com/diaries/265985-grow-journal-by-arcadium
@Arcadium, Is your strain similar to Sweet Seeds F1 Fast Versions? I have some preflowers as well and I also live on 49N. I hope it starts flowering in august. Best!
@TuHermosaCaritaTHC, Yeah, they should be similar. Last year's F1 Fast didn't show pistils till late July and was still ready last week of Sept. Hoping Super El Ninio brings hot dry early fall.
