Skunky420 New grow of autoflowering strains! The seeds germinated directly in light mix Biobizz soil. They've been in the ground for two days and should start germinating in two days. They're currently in small pots containing only light mix and a little Mycotrex for germination. To select the plants I'll keep, I'll transplant them into their final pots no later than three days after germination, so as not to disrupt their growth. I plan to keep only 4 or 5 out of a maximum of 8, as that's enough for my personal use. However, with autoflowering varieties, I prefer to select only the most vigorous plants, which is why I'm germinating a few more. This grow will be done in light mix Biobizz soil enriched with the Biotabs range. Here's the mix I plan to use, knowing that I'll be watering exclusively with a mixture of reverse osmosis water and filtered tap water to maintain an electrical conductivity (EC) of approximately 0.4 throughout the entire grow cycle ⬇️ For a 20-liter container: 100 g of Startrex, 100 g of Silicium Flash, 10 g of Mycotrex. This grow will be done using the Biotabs water-only method. I also have Orgatrex, but I won't be using it this grow; I'm saving it for my next grow so I can compare the two methods and see which one I prefer. This is my first time using Biotabs, so I've spent the last two months studying their use and how to prepare a good substrate. I hope I don't make a mistake in the mixture I plan to make. There's also a "homemade" method for autoflowering plants that I found on Reddit, which involves underdosing the silicium flash but also using Orgatrex, but only adding the two tabs to the soil from the 4th week onwards. I don't plan to try it at the moment, but I still find it interesting, so I'm posting this here for BioTabs growers who might be interested ⬇️ www.reddit.com/r/MephHeads/comments/175hd5q/biotabs_grow_guide_for_autos_by_gr33nfi3ld/?tl=fr Update 25/04 ➡️ 5 out of 8 seeds have sprouted so far; I haven't checked which strains yet. The two Purple Punch Auto seeds are free sample seeds from 2024; perhaps they're too old. I'll see tomorrow.

Skunky420 ➡️ Day+2, so it will be 1 Purple Punch Auto, 3 Dosidos Auto and 1 Orange Apricot Glue XL Auto. Repotting using the Biotabs Water Only formula in the final 5 gallon pots for the Purple Punch Auto and the three Dosidos Auto, and in a 10 liter pot for the Orange Apricot Glue XL Auto. The seedlings have stretched upwards a bit. I'm still learning to control the light level of the AC Infinity humidity dome LEDs, and level 1 seems perfect for germination, but then I'll definitely need to increase it to level 2 or higher to prevent the seedlings from becoming leggy. The fans in the grow box are on low speed, which is keeping the seedlings moving, so I have no worries, they'll get stronger 💪🏻 Only the Orange Apricot Glue XL Auto, which is in the white pot in the center, hasn't quite finished emerging yet, but I'm giving it a chance anyway in a 10l pot. I've been surprised in the past by a auto seedling that looked like it had Down syndrome, but which later turned out to be a phenotype with incredible buds :) ➡️💧Watering with 1 gram of Bactrex per liter of water for each plant, followed by 500 ml of plain water for each plant, watering only in a circular motion around the base of the plants. I didn't adjust the pH of the water because by mixing the reverse osmosis water with filtered tap water, it already stabilizes at 6.8, which is normally low enough to allow the buffer to do its job in the soil. 27/04 ➡️ After taking the temperature with the AC Infinity Laser VPD thermometer, the seedlings' leaf temperature is 1°C cooler than the ambient air, and their leaf VPD is 0.1 lower. I'm now setting the VPD leaf temp offset to -1°C. 29/04 ➡️ I removed the Orange Apricot Glue XL Auto seedling from the tent; it was growing very weakly compared to the others and didn't tolerate the increased PPFD as well, so I prefer to leave space for just the four remaining plants. The other four are doing well, developing steadily. They're a bit leggy, but they've stopped stretching upwards and are now focusing on leaf growth. Adding clay pebbles to the surface of the soil, just to reduce the surface area for fungus gnats to lay their eggs. Not 100% effective, but it helps. The clay balls were rinsed with water before being placed on the surface. I regularly clean the tent floor with hydrogen peroxide, about every four days, and the clay pebbles also help to ensure that the fans disperse far fewer soil particles onto the ground. I try to keep the environment as clean as possible to avoid spider mites, especially during the first 15 days before I can apply a preventive neem oil foliar spray. Currently at 165 -175 PPFD/11-12 DLI

Skunky420 ➡️ Day+11, I was not at home for 5 days for work, so I couldn't increase the PPFD until I got back yesterday to reach 16 DLI. Their stems need a little strengthening, but that should improve with the increased PPFD and a bit more ventilation. I plan to insert the first tabs on Day+14. Currently at 230-240 PPFD/16 DLI 06/05 ➡️ Day+13, I added one Biotabs per pot today. They seem quite developed and will start getting hungry in a few days I think. I plan to apply a preventative neem oil spray (3 ml/l) tonight when the light is off. Currently at 240-260 PPFD

Skunky420 ➡️ Day+15, watering today with 1 liter of water per plant, using 1 g/L of Bactrex, CalMag, and Root Juice. I add approximately 4 ml/l of CalMag to raise the EC of the reverse osmosis water from 0.05 to 0.4, then the Root Juice and Bactrex bring the EC up to 0.58-0.6. The plants are growing vigorously and seem to be thriving after the first application of tabs two days ago. They also had their first preventive foliar spray with neem oil yesterday, just before lights out. Currently at 300-320 PPFD/20-22 DLI In one of the photos, you can see the reverse osmosis water system I use. If anyone's interested in the model number, it works great. I did, however, replace the 400ml "flow" cartridge with a 550ml one to increase the flow rate because my tap water is very hard, and it's recommended to extend the lifespan of the membrane and sediment filter. ➡️ Day+18, watering with 2 liters per plant using 4 ml/L of Root Juice, including 1.5 liters at the bottom of the pots to encourage root growth. Fungus gnats are a tough pest; I'm waiting for a nematode delivery. Currently at 365-385 PPFD

Skunky420 ➡️ Day+21, the plants all have their first visible pistils. I think they started their early flowering stretch a day or two ago, or they're about to start because they're growing faster and faster. A foliar spray with Boom-Boom spray was applied on day+19, and the second Biotabs was added to the substrate the same day (7 days after the first). As you can see, I've also added a blue sticky traps and other yellow sticky traps, and there was also a nematode treatment with the last watering on day+18. Since then, the fungus gnats population has decreased significantly, but I'm thinking of doing one last nematode treatment in a week to eliminate them completely. Currently at 420-436 PPFD/29-30 DLI ➡️ Day+25, the final preventive spray with neem oil will be applied after lights out today. Then, in 7-10 days, Koppert Swirski Ulti Mite and Swirski Ulti Mite Spical will be placed under the canopy to protect the plants throughout flowering. A light defoliation of just two large leaves per plant was done on day+22, simply to thin out the secondary branches below, but they grew back just as quickly within 48 hours. I plan a more significant defoliation towards the end of the stretch. I have limited experience with autoflowering plants, so I don't want to stress them too much before they've finished their initial flowering stretch. But given the speed at which it's growing, it's also quite possible that I'll have to lightly defoliate again before the end of the stretch if large leaves are shading some secondary branches too much, depending on the plant's structure. Currently at 460-480 PPFD

Bio PK 5-8 - Bio Tabs
Bio PK 5-8

Skunky420 ➡️ Day+30, the four plants received a second watering with nematodes on day+27, and also with Bactrex on day+26. Yesterday, I gave the two large Dosidos auto at the back their first watering with Bio PK 5-8, only 1 ml/L. I'm introducing it slowly because the plants are still in their stretch phase. They seem to have appreciated the Bio PK 5-8, so the other two plants (the Purple Punch auto at the bottom left and the small Dosidos auto) will also get their first dose of Bio PK 5-8 at the next watering. The third and smallest of the Dosidos auto is only at 500 PPFD because it's smaller than the others, so I'm going to look for something to raise it up a bit so it gets more light. Of the four I again removed just a few leaves from the bottom to improve airflow under the canopy, and also a second time 2 large leaves from the top to thin out the secondary branches. Next week I'll apply the first dose of PK booster compost tee; I plan to alternate it every other week with Bio PK 5-8. Currently at 580-620 PPFD/40-42 DLI

PK Booster Compost Tea - Bio Tabs
PK Booster Compost Tea
15 mll
Skunky420 ➡️ Day+35, this week, the plants will receive their first dose of PK Booster compost tea around next Tuesday or Wednesday, when the temperatures drop a bit. Otherwise, the water might be too hot before then with the current heatwave, since the tea needs to steep for 24 to 36 hours. On day+31, I made a mistake. I wanted to pinch the apex of the tallest Dosidos auto in the back left corner because it was growing much taller than the other plants and starting to get stressed from the light. But when I tried to bend it afterward (supercropping), I broke the apex. So I ended up topped it, but the plant recovered very well. Even though the yield might be slightly affected, the secondary branches immediately grew more vigorously (I applied a Boom Boom spray the day I topped it). Since then, it's been developing a triple main bud. At Day+32, I placed the Swirski Ulti mite and Ulti mite spical sachets under the canopy, and yesterday I also introduced about 10-15 Orius laevigatus predators which will take care of the adult thrips if there are any left, in combination with the sachets under the canopy which release predators which take care of the larvae. I noticed a few small spots on one of the Purple Punch Auto leaves a few days ago, but nothing too serious, and since then there haven't been any more bites on any of the leaves, so everything is under control for the moment. However, I'm staying vigilant with the heatwave, especially this weekend given the outside temperature (I've released the rest of the 500 Orius laevigatus box into the garden outside, so I'm waging war on thrips on all fronts, as well as any potential spider mites). Luckily, I'm managing to keep the temperature under control (between 25 and 26°C in the grow box with air conditioning on at certain times of the day). (The Purple Punch Auto is now in the bottom right of the photo; I swapped it with the small Dosidos Auto because it was too close to the larger Dosidos) In one of the photos, there's a height-adjustable camping stool I found at Aldi for €5 (I bought two), exactly what I needed to have a canopy at roughly the same height. Currently at 580-650 PPFD/40-45 DLI ➡️ Day+37, the plants finally received their first PK booster compost tea today after 28 hours of brewing. I was able to maintain the tea temperature between 23 and 23.5°C, so it worked well. 700ml per plant, with 5ml/L of Orgatrex, and 30 minutes before the end of the brewing cycle, I added a small spoon of Bactrex and Mycotrex to the tea. The Purple Punch Auto is less advanced in its flowering compared to the three Dosidos Auto. Towards the end of flowering, I'll see if I can postpone harvesting the Dosidos by a week or ten days to give the Purple Punch time to mature sufficiently. If the difference in maturity is too significant, then I might have to finish the Purple Punch outside, as the tent is the only place I can dry at the right temperature and humidity. Currently at 600-650 PPFD

Skunky420 ➡️ Day+42, the plants will receive their Bio PK 5-8 dose in two days. The Purple Punch Auto is taking its time but is starting to stop growing taller and is focusing on its flowers. The Dosidos Autos are superb. All four plants greatly appreciated the PK booster compost tea last Sunday. Currently at 750-850 PPFD ➡️ Day+47, some of the top leaves of the auto Dosidos were starting to develop very slight white stress spots on the leaf tips under 850 PPFD, so I reduced it to 700-750 PPFD/43-45 DLI, and 1 hour less light, I think this is their comfort zone without pushing them too hard (I don't use CO2). With the heat and despite the air conditioning and dehumidifier, it is difficult on some days to get below 55% humidity, the 4 plants received a preventative spray of Botryprot at J+45. A good defoliation was carried out on the Purple Punch Auto, focusing on the underside of the plant and also removing the lowest secondary branches that were receiving very little light. This was necessary as it was becoming very bushy, and I prefer to sacrifice a little yield to ensure all 4 plants have proper air circulation. There definitely wasn't room for five plants like on day one 😂

@Mrs_Larimar, and the Purple Punch Auto, which is in the bottom left of the photo of the four, is 24 hours ahead of the three Dosidos Auto since they sprouted. It was a free seed, but the genetics seem very strong too
