26 The Godfather

Northern_Ent May 2 Day 1: looking forward to the Godfather’s offer. May 6 Day 5: looking good with both seedlings doing fine.On heat mat and under cover to keep humidity up.

Northern_Ent May 10 Day 9: looking good enough. Godfather is one of the more vigorous seedlings this year. Raised the soil level after pics. May 13 Day 12: both seedlings are doing great, but one is showing a more reddish stem. I think that is due to lack of P for the plant and means the other plant might handle cold weather a bit better. P deficiency shows up when it is too cold for the plant.

Northern_Ent May 16 Day 15: both seedlings are going strong. May 21 Day 20: still cool but will transplant in a day or two. Will have to choose which one to keep.

Northern_Ent May 23 Day 22: transplant day. Looking good. Half strength soluble seaweed extract to water in. May 26 Day 25: lazy compost tea. May 27: foliar spray in morning using Extreme Blend. Keeping plants misted during the day to make up for low humidity.

Northern_Ent May 30 Day 29: Godfather is doing alright. We’ll see some fast vegetative growth soon. May 31: rain day. June 1: rain day and another one tomorrow. Happy to get the moisture to minimize fire season but it is quite cool at about 10 C so not much plant growth. June 4: still cool but the rain has stopped. Definitely happy for the moisture.

Northern_Ent June 6 Day 36: last week was cool and rainy so growth was slow. Everything will start growing quickly soon with warmer temperatures and direct sunlight. Foliar spray with Extreme Blend this morning. June 7 Day 37: first topping done for the manifold. Did a compost tea that day too I think. June 12: seems like a lot of ragin this spring so I have not been watering. Did foliar spray of Extreme Blend. Also, note that for all my grows I use malt vinegar for pH and (I suppose) amino acids. Also Dr Bronners Peppermint Soap as a ‘wetting agent’ which just means that it is lowering surface tension of the water.

Northern_Ent June 13: It has been a cool and kind of rainy spring but she looks ready to take off now with slightly warmer temperatures and long sunlight hours around the solstice. June 17: missed a day in the photos but it looks like fast growth is happening now. June 18: more rain. Did a foliar spray in the morning with Extreme Blend and Dr Bronners Peppermint Soap. The soap lowers the surface tension of the water allows it to better penetrate the leaf. The smell supposedly helps keep pests away too.

Northern_Ent June 20 Day 50: looking good. It’s been cool and rainy most days this spring and she’s a bit small for her age but she will get a lot bigger in the next 4-5 weeks. June 23: morning foliar spray with Extreme Blend and potassium silicate. Lots of rain this month so no watering being done. Removed two inner fan leaves that were blocking sunlight.

Northern_Ent June 28: rainiest June on record but average temperatures. Godfather OG is behind schedule because of the weather but is doing fine. July 1: Happy Canada Day 🇨🇦 Adjusted scrog net. Using a net with paper clips onto the edge of the grow bag is the easiest way to get the shape I want for the manifold. Looking good. Starting another compost tea for use tomorrow. There has been so much rain that I haven’t been watering and the only added nutrients are by foliar spray. That is working, but she will like the tea tomorrow. July 2: compost tea in morning and sunny all day adds up to a big vegetative growth day. Only 2-3 weeks until I have to start force flowering.

Northern_Ent July 4: topped again to create 16 growth tips which will yield a 16 cola manifold. She hasn’t handled cool overnight temperatures quite as well as PGC or GC but she is doing well enough. She will like the warmer weather for the next two months. July 6: loose Scrog net layers work great and this is now my preferred method. Did Extreme Blend and slightly weak dose of Plagron’s Green Sensation (0-8-9) as the plants were showing deficiencies that looked to be due to K and P. Plant’s look better after that. July 7: fast growth is happening and she’s now at 21 inches. Long sunny days now so there will be fast growth for another week or two before force flowering. July 10: new growth is a bit yellow so did a foliar spray of Epsom salts and also included potassium silicate. Potassium is useful of course, but the silicate toughens the stems and can help to survive heatwaves, wind, etc.

Northern_Ent July 11: hail storm went through and did some damage. She will recover but it is a setback. Big fan leaves were shedded but the small leaves and growth tips are fine. July 13: watered with molasses and Monster Maxx. Did foliar spray in morning with kelp extract and Extreme Blend and some Epsom salts all to help with recovery after the nasty hail storm. July 15: removed some more of the damaged fan leaves after a few days of recovery.

Northern_Ent July 18: still recovering from the hail storm 7 days ago, but looking good. Start force flowering tonight. That means in the dark garage at 9 pm, a few seconds of 730 nm far red light to initiate ‘dark mode’ 2 h faster, and then out of garage at 7 am. So I get 10 +2 or 12 h of darkness in a ‘26 h’ day. Great trick if you have daily access to your flowering plants. July 19: added second layer of scrog net. Watered with a compost tea this morning.
