New tent, new grow, lets start this off with a couple of simple strains. I got the Northern lights as a freebee while ordering some other seeds and figured it would be a nice classic to try as an auto and to just grow.
This is is a new setup for me and is a dive into indoor growing.
Sorry for the poor quality pictures. I was not actually intending on doing a diary and most of these were of the quality reserved for Instagram (shameless plug @flavorchasing). Regardless I still document the grow and take pictures here and there.
This was a week of me getting new fans, heaters, humidifiers and trying to figure out how it all works together and then getting everything dialed in. Saw a single bug in the tent, freaked and added some Aptus dislike this week as a "just in case". I also found a bunch of old phones and set them up as web cams. I can now watch my grow remotely!!!
Starting to get into my groove with this week. It kind of flew by me and I had a few times where I watered the plants with regular water. I have stopped doing this as the PH here is 8.4 roughly for tap water and biobizz is self correcting to 6.4-6.7 so instead of this constant battle im just going to nute every time.
Continuing the LST with this to keep her in line with another plant I have growing. She is super easy to train but her just being bushy makes watering a pain and she just looks short and stocky. Over-all she is a happy and healthy looking plant
Got a TDS meter at the end of this week. This lady is also in full on flower!!! I just love seeing the pistols, I am also catching a small bit of smell during a small period when the lights come on!
She is starting to spread out and even out well. I dont think she is to great for LST, or at least she should be started a bit towards the end middle of week 3 or the end even. She grows short and bushy.
Received and installed Quantum board to replace my viparspec LED.
Using the vipar now to help with vegging seedlings.
The plant is loving life having a whole tent to herself. However that will change once I pop a few more seeds. The smell is to be expect, sandalwood and piney earth, after week 7 she is not really stinking it up however that is expected of this strain. Earlier in this week I pulled her open a bit more to expose her to the lights and get some penetration into her lower bud sites. I will adjust my soil mixture after this run because there is simply to much perilite. Between her drinking and the absorption, the drying out is a tad to fast for my liking. 🙌
This is pretty much a copy paste week of week 6. Continued flowering and some slight stacking of current flowers. She has pretty much stopped veg growth completely.
She is drinking a lot, however that is mostly due to random Hot weather and random humidity more than the lights. I will also like to take the time to thank the heat output of LED, or at least the lack of. This simple trait is making this grow super easy for a summer.
The quantum board is killer. The plants never prayed with the old light regardless of how close it was. This QB can be say 80CM and the leaves will still raise up! 💪👹
She is starting to thicken up. Drinking a ton of water as well and she has been put on full dose of Top-Max since she is starting to pump out trichomes and stacking at the flowering sites. Lets help her shall we? Had a couple of really awesome days in terms of weather, just not so much for the plants.
I recon she has 3 more weeks though for dank dark nugs. I'll keep this week updated with a few more photos but the data is pretty much set.
We are getting into the swing of our summer so the days are a little warmer and the tent, due to its location falls victim to the high temps. Raised the lights to help combat higher tent temps.
Pretty straight forward week. She is stacking well and the usual temps have returned. I did start to notice the effects of the heat on the tops and reducing trichs. Overall the plant has been fine and drinking like a pro, I have removed her nutrients and am letting her fade out.
I would say all the trichs are cloudy now and we are just waiting for her to finish her cycle and ripen a little bit. Towards the end of the week I did notice a little bit of a last thickening of the bud sites and she was starting to fade faster. We had one day where the temp got pretty high and I wanted to adjust a few things so took the plants outside of a few hours since we have direct sunshine at the moment. Used the time to install the 2nd light after our heat waves and clean the tent. Just Watering her now.
Not impressed with the trichome production of the plant. The smell is also not to over powering and im not sure to knock it up to the strain in general since its known to be like this or the breeder since the overall genetics are weak for a strain that has been around since the 90s.
This will prob be my last grow and harvest of a zamnesia strain.
Initially ran this plant as a way to get dial in my tent and setup while coming to grasp with tent growing in general. Since its an autoflower the growing was easy. However this is a very commercial seed bank and the quality you get is in line with that. Now i'm moving, getting a larger setup, and going to run more genetics. Zamnesia will not be a part of that.
