The Tropical Ice Cream One

SundancerS The little Tropical Ice Cream One didn't have the most relaxed start in life right after germination. While we were still busy getting the grow tent back to a biologically pure state after the last lady, she had to share the light with the automatics. The light phase was about as optimal as a vacation in an airport parking lot, but the little one took it surprisingly well. Despite the early stress program, she seems vital so far, grows cleanly, and is pleasantly low-maintenance. This week, she finally got to move into her new summer residence and seems to have settled in right away. The first thoughts about training are already swirling around in the grower's mind, but we need to hold ourselves back this time to be able to participate in the USA Genetics 2026 Contest with a finished lady. So far, she's doing exactly what we hoped: growing healthily, looking good, and acting like everything is completely normal. We're extremely excited about the coming weeks and, of course, hope for a development that's as delicious as the name sounds. Ice Cream in summer? We'll take it. 😎

SundancerS The young Tropical Ice Cream One has really developed nicely this week. It's forming strong baby shoots and already pushing out pleasantly fat leaves, which is why we decided: time for the first topping. The bottom two shoots had to pack their bags right away, and now we're focusing on the second and third nodes. So the plan is definitely looking more stable than some weather forecasts. Right now, it still seems a bit small and lost in the tent, almost like someone who accidentally showed up too early at an adult party. But we know the game well enough by now: first, look innocent, and suddenly take over the whole room. Also, this time we're back to using organic fertilizer from BioBizz. After all, the little one shouldn't just grow, but also get a bit of wellness in the process. So far, she looks healthy and strong. We're already looking forward to the next few weeks and are curious to see how the lady develops further. 😘

SundancerS The young Tropical Ice Cream One has surprisingly handled the tropical temperatures in the tent quite well. After topping last week, the remaining four shoots have stood up nicely. From the neatly trained plant, a little curly head has emerged again within a few days, clearly having its own ideas about order. Yesterday, LST was on the agenda. Unfortunately, our inner training monk had too much coffee and not enough patience again. During the FIMing, one shoot was treated a bit too enthusiastically and snapped. We tried to save the patient, but as seen in the last picture, the branch decided to retire early. But as every grower eventually learns: A broken branch is not the end of the world. The plant is healthy, continues to grow cheerfully, and will probably forgive us for the little slip-up faster than we forgive ourselves. Now it can take a breather and show what else it has in store. 😕

SundancerS This week was more of a training marathon than a grow for the Tropical Ice Cream One. After the accident with the lost main stem, our grow monk had to completely change his tactics. The remaining three main stems were topped and realigned so that the lady looks somewhat aesthetic again. Additionally, she had to give up some of the large leaves, otherwise, the light would have been too short. She looks a bit worn out, but that will sort itself out. The structure looks strong, the stems are standing cleanly, and the plant overall appears quite fit. So far, she has handled all the changes remarkably calmly, almost as if she knows that everything will be beautiful again afterward. After all, she comes from the "paradise" (aka paradise seeds ;-P). 👍

SundancerS The Tropical Ice Cream One is looking its best this week. Strong, rich green, healthy growth, and a canopy that has become so dense that you could probably park a small car underneath it. Of course, we couldn't just leave it like that! The plant was pulled down firmly and realigned. Oh dear... Now the tent wall is much closer than expected. ;-) After losing a main stem a few weeks ago, the side branches that were meant to fill the gap have more than closed it and are providing a wonderfully even structure. In the next few days, it will be sent into flowering. Not only because it looks ready for it, but also because our tent doesn't grow indefinitely upwards. Some of the current branches probably won't make it all the way to harvest either. But that's part of it. First, we build, then we sort. So far, it's handling everything we throw at it. Healthy, vibrant, and surprisingly calm for a plant that's regularly redecorated by an overly motivated grower. 😍

SundancerS The Tropical Ice Cream One has really stepped it up this week and was close to falling back into its old curly head mode. From the carefully arranged Caesar crown, there was hardly anything visible from above. So it was time to "strap" it into the SCROG net. The threading went smoothly, the shoots are still nice and flexible and can be distributed excellently. The view of the stem is clear again, and we now have all the possibilities to stretch the plant evenly across the entire tent area. Whether all the current shoots will be allowed to stay until harvest will show in the coming weeks. It's also slowly ramping up in terms of scent, especially when working on it. After the first week under 12/12, the first pre-flowers are unmistakable. The Tropical Ice Cream One looks healthy, strong, and seems to have just been waiting for the starting signal to bloom. Now it gets exciting, because in the next few weeks, we'll see how good our training plan really was.

SundancerS After the Tropical Ice Cream One moved into the SCROG net last week, she got to take a breather this week. Even our training Monk surprisingly held back and kept his fingers still. The plan is the same as it was with the Permanent Marker. A second SCROG net will later ensure an even flowering area. We've had really good experiences with this technique. The heatwave from last week took a toll on her a bit, but overall she handled everything like a champ. The pre-flowering is now clearly visible, and for the past few days, she’s been getting the flowering nutrients from BioBizz. So far, everything is running completely smoothly. The plant continues to grow cleanly, and the soil is developing beautifully. Thanks to the microorganisms and soil enhancers, the earth is now looking really "rich." In the next few days, she'll get her new SCROG net that we treated ourselves to at the Mary Jane. We're excited to see how the lady will unfold in it. 😍

SundancerS German version below. This week was all about training for The Tropical Ice Cream One. After having great success with a second SCROG net on our Permanent Marker, we decided to use the same approach for this grow. We picked up a new SCROG system at Mary Jane, and this week it finally got its first real job. Setting up the net was the easy part. The real work started afterwards. Branch by branch, we carefully tucked every shoot into the second net and repositioned it. Our goal was to create an even canopy so every future bud site receives as much light as possible and can develop to its full potential. It took several hours of patience, but the result was definitely worth the effort. The height difference across the entire canopy is currently only 2 centimeters. That is exactly what we aim for when building an even SCROG canopy. Now it is time to keep our hands off and let her do the rest. She handled the training exceptionally well and can now settle into her new shape over the next few days. We are excited to see how the second SCROG net will influence flower development and yield during the coming weeks. After all the stress from the training session, she was rewarded with an extra serving of Bio Heaven and Acti Vera as a little treat. 😁 ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Diese Woche stand bei der The Tropical Ice Cream One ganz im Zeichen des Trainings. Nachdem wir mit der Permanent Marker sehr gute Erfahrungen mit einem zweiten SCROG Netz gemacht haben, wollten wir dieses Konzept auch bei dieser Pflanze umsetzen. Auf der Mary Jane haben wir uns dafür ein neues SCROG System gegönnt, das nun endlich zum Einsatz kam.Der Aufbau war schnell erledigt, die eigentliche Arbeit begann aber erst danach. Trieb für Trieb wurde vorsichtig in das zweite Netz eingefädelt und neu ausgerichtet. Ziel war es, eine möglichst gleichmäßige Verteilung der zukünftigen Blüten zu erreichen, damit jede ausreichend Licht bekommt und sich optimal entwickeln kann.Das hat einige Stunden Geduld gekostet, aber das Ergebnis spricht für sich. Der Höhenunterschied über die gesamte Zeltfläche beträgt aktuell gerade einmal zwei Zentimeter. Genau so stellen wir uns ein gleichmäßig trainiertes Blütendach vor. Jetzt heißt es erstmal Finger weg und wachsen lassen. Die Pflanze hat das Training hervorragend mitgemacht und darf sich in den nächsten Tagen in ihrer neuen Form entfalten. Wir sind gespannt, wie sich das zusätzliche SCROG Netz in den kommenden Blütewochen auf Ertrag und Blütenentwicklung auswirken wird. Nach dem Stress des Trainings hat sie eine extra Portion Bio Heaven und Activera als kleines "Leckerlie" bekommen. 😁

SundancerS Our TICO (The Tropical Ice Cream One) had a pretty rough week. First came the high temperatures, then the humidity, and just to make things even more interesting, she also had to go through an intense training session. Still, she didn't complain and simply carried on like a champ. The second trellis net has already proven its worth. The branches are growing in every direction, but the buds are now back at an even canopy, even if the view from above looks more like creative chaos than a perfectly organized SCROG. In the end, we achieved exactly what we were aiming for: every bud site is getting an equal share of the light. Her leaves are a rich, healthy green, showing that she handled the training without missing a beat. The buds are now noticeably bulking up, making us even more excited for the weeks ahead. We'd still like to see a bit more stretch, though, as she's looking a little compact despite her excellent progress. We're looking forward to seeing how she develops over the next few days and weeks. 😁

SundancerS *German version below. The Tropical Ice Cream One (TICO) had a fairly relaxed week. She held back on vertical growth, which is most likely a result of the SCROG training. It seems the training kept her a bit busier than expected, but in return she continues to maintain a beautifully even canopy, exactly what we were aiming for. We did make one small mistake, though. We underestimated her water demand. On two occasions, the substrate became a little too dry because TICO is now drinking significantly more than we expected. We've since adjusted our watering routine, and she seems to be taking it in stride. Her leaves are a rich, healthy green, the plant looks vigorous overall, and the buds continue to develop evenly. Now we're eagerly waiting for the stretch. A few extra inches would fit our plan perfectly, and we're confident that TICO still has plenty left to show. After all, the quiet weeks are just as much a part of a successful grow as the spectacular ones. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Die Tropical Ice Cream One (TICO) hatte diese Woche einen eher entspannten Verlauf. Beim Höhenwachstum hat sie sich bewusst zurückgehalten, was vermutlich auch mit dem SCROG zusammenhängt. Das Training scheint sie etwas mehr beschäftigt zu haben als erwartet, dafür präsentiert sie aber weiterhin ein schön gleichmäßiges Blütendach, genau so, wie wir es uns erhofft hatten. Einen kleinen Fehler haben wir allerdings gemacht: Wir haben ihren Wasserbedarf unterschätzt. Gleich zweimal wurde das Substrat etwas zu trocken, weil die TICO inzwischen deutlich mehr trinkt, als wir ihr zugetraut haben. Das haben wir inzwischen angepasst. Die Blätter sind kräftig grün, die Pflanze wirkt insgesamt gesund und die Blüten entwickeln sich gleichmäßig weiter. Jetzt warten wir gespannt auf den Stretch. Ein paar zusätzliche Zentimeter würden perfekt in unseren Plan passen und wir sind zuversichtlich, dass die TICO noch nicht ihr letztes Wort gesprochen hat. Die ruhigen Wochen gehören schließlich genauso zu einem erfolgreichen Grow wie die spektakulären. 😎

SundancerS Week 5 of flowering is now behind our Tropical Ice Cream One (TICO), and she's staying true to herself. There hasn't been much vertical growth this week. Either she's saving her stretch for later, or she's already reached her final height. We're still hopeful that she'll surprise us with a few extra inches before she's done. We rearranged the buds in the SCROG net once again to give each flower site enough space and to create a more even canopy for optimal light distribution. Our young lady also seems to be getting more comfortable with the SCROG. At first, she looked a little unsure about the whole setup, but she's gradually settling in and finding her place. The buds are noticeably bulking up now and are already incredibly sticky, which is always a great sign that resin production is kicking into high gear. We also topped up the pot with several liters of fresh soil, as she's done an impressive job filling out and consuming the existing substrate. Now all eyes are on the weather forecast. The next few days are expected to bring some intense heat, and we're hoping TICO handles the high temperatures just as well as she has every challenge so far. At this point, she looks healthy, vigorous, and full of potential, and we're excited to see what the coming weeks have in store. 👽

SundancerS German version below :) The TICO finally seems to have settled into the SCROG, even though the start was a bit bumpy. After five weeks of flowering, we're fairly certain that there won't be much more stretching. Because of that, we decided to make a small adjustment to the upper SCROG net. A few bud sites had already started developing below the screen, which wasn't part of the plan. Now the buds have a bit more room, receive better light exposure, and, most importantly, benefit from improved airflow. We're holding off on any aggressive lollipopping below the net for now. TICO appears to be a little more sensitive to stress than some of our other plants, and we don't want to push her unnecessarily at this stage. Even without any major interventions, she's progressing nicely. We like her overall structure, she looks healthy, and she's steadily building more flower mass week after week. One of the most interesting changes has been her aroma. Early on, she had a floral scent that reminded us of lilac. Now it has evolved into a much fresher and more complex profile. It's definitely getting us excited for the weeks ahead, and we're curious to see what other aromas will develop as she matures. Then came one of those moments you can only laugh about afterwards. Despite all our experience, we somehow realized five weeks into flower that we had forgotten to switch on the bloom spectrum on our grow light. Oops... that's what happens when things get a little too hectic. Fortunately, TICO doesn't seem to have held that little mistake against us. The buds are now incredibly sticky and covered in resin, which is always a great sign. Rearranging them in the SCROG made the canopy a little less even than before, but we're confident we'll have everything leveled out again over the next few days. A few very hot days are still ahead of us, but we're optimistic that TICO will handle them just as well as every other challenge so far. Overall, we're really happy with her progress and can't wait to see what she'll show us next week. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Die TICO scheint sich inzwischen mit dem SCROG arrangiert zu haben, auch wenn der Start etwas holprig war. Nach fünf Blütewochen ist für uns inzwischen klar, dass wohl kein großer Stretch mehr kommen wird. Deshalb haben wir beschlossen, ihr mit dem oberen SCROG-Netz etwas entgegenzukommen. Unter dem Netz hatten sich bereits einige Blüten gebildet, die wir dort eigentlich gar nicht haben möchten. Jetzt stehen die Buds wieder etwas freier, bekommen mehr Licht und vor allem eine bessere Luftzirkulation. Mit dem radikalen Lollipopping unterhalb des Netzes warten wir allerdings noch. Die TICO reagiert auf Stress etwas sensibler als andere Pflanzen und wir möchten sie in dieser Phase nicht unnötig aus dem Konzept bringen. Auch ohne weitere große Eingriffe entwickelt sie sich sehr ordentlich. Die Struktur gefällt uns, sie wirkt gesund und baut ihre Blüten Woche für Woche kontinuierlich weiter aus. Besonders spannend finden wir die Veränderung des Aromas. Anfangs erinnerte der Duft eher an blumige Fliedernoten, inzwischen ist daraus ein deutlich frischeres und komplexeres Profil geworden. Das macht definitiv Lust auf die kommenden Wochen und wir sind gespannt, welche Nuancen noch dazukommen. Und dann kam der Moment, über den man im Nachhinein nur noch lachen kann. Trotz aller Routine ist uns tatsächlich erst nach fünf Blütewochen aufgefallen, dass wir vergessen hatten, das Blütespektrum unserer Lampe zu aktivieren. Eieiei... manchmal ist der Alltag eben hektischer als einem lieb ist. Zum Glück scheint die TICO uns diesen Patzer nicht übel genommen zu haben. Die Buds sind mittlerweile richtig klebrig und fühlen sich beim Anfassen schon schön harzig an. Durch das Umverteilen im SCROG ist das Blütendach zwar nicht mehr ganz so gleichmäßig wie zuvor, aber das bekommen wir in den nächsten Tagen sicher wieder sauber ausgerichtet. Jetzt stehen erst einmal ein paar heiße Tage bevor. Wir sind aber guter Dinge, dass die TICO auch diese Herausforderung meistert. Insgesamt sind wir mit ihrer Entwicklung sehr zufrieden und freuen uns schon darauf, was sie uns in der nächsten Woche zeigen wird.
