KnightRider Hey Cannafam,
Welcome to my Mexican Quarters Diary 😊
I first tried this strain about 25 years ago after a friend of mine grew it in a cupboard under a SMH bulb, the space was half the size of my tent and still to this day im not sure how he didn't burn the house down with the heat! Some strains leave an impression on you and i remember this strain being really happy with big fuzzy/bloodshot eyes. Shes been on my to do list for a long time and hopefully she'll be as i remember!
Il be growing 4 small plants with the plan being a fairly short veg time amd then flower.
Ive had the seeds for a while so they had a good soaking in great white and then planted straight into plagron royal mix, 3 came up ok but the 4th didnt and i gently had a dig last night. Somehow shed curled up poped her casing which had gone onto the end of the taproot, i very gently removed the casing and placed the curled root about 1mm into the soil and dripped some water on, i think she'll be ok but we'll see.
PPFD is at 300 with a DLI of 22 and VPD currently at 0.93.
Lets see how these gals do, lets grow 😁💚

KnightRider Hey Cannafam Happy Friday,
My Mexican girls have had a good start this week 3 have just started their second set of leaves and the 4th survived her strangulation and is gonna make it, she may not catch up but we'll see how she goes overall 😊
Ive struggled a bit with low humidity this week and a wet cloth has been in tent to help keep it up, Vpd is currently 1.07 so a bit high. Ive also dialled back the light slightly and their now ar 250ppfd and 18 DLi as there were a few signs of stress at the beginning of the week, but these gals are happy now.
Thats all for now, thanks for stoppin by 😊✌️

KnightRider Hey Cannafam Happy Friday,
My Mexican gals had a fairly good week and have put on another couple of leaf sets and looking a nice lush green, the 4th which im calling stumpy 😊 is doing ok but theres no way she'll be catching up to her sisters unless when i start feeding i starve them and feed her 🤔 Ive not fed amything yet as theres plenty in the Royal mix to keep them going but will probably start soon.
Environment has been all over the place this week with VPD between 0.89 - 1.3 due to high outside temps and humidity swings, ive still got the wet cloth in the tent to keep humidity up and VPD is currently at 1.08. Ive brought the light height up for better coverage and were still at 250 ppfd with a DLI of 18 although im gonna start increasing this now their more established.
Theyre now starting to take off more and im thinking maybe another week in Veg before flipping into flower, but il guestimate how much theyre gonna stretch at the end of next week before doing so.
Thats all from me for now, thanks for stopping by 😊✌️

KnightRider Hey Cannafam
Sorry for the late update but its been a bit hectic this end.
I flipped these gals over to flower midweek and things went downhill from there, one of the bigger ones i had noticed what looked like a little verigation earlier in the week and i didn't think much of it as a nice little quirk but she then developed marking on leaves almost like the tissue had been stripped internally and she completely wilted(pictured) It then became apparent that i had a really aggresive bug or a virus might be present. The plant directly in front of her then followed suit pretty soon after. The_Club_7 kindly pointed out for me that this looked like HPVd 🙏 Both plants were removed and destroyed.
Everything was then taken out of the tent and has been cleaned with the tent also. Unfortunately both plants shared a drip tray with one of the others so it may be the case that they have to go as well, but i hope not ☹️🤞🤞🤞
On a more positive note growth on the two gals left has been good with the tallest at 11 inches and the plant that was smallest a little shorter, shes nearly caught up! The remaining gals have also had their first feed with alga bloom and trace ahd light has been increased to 540 PPFD with a DLI of 23 and when flowering commences proper il turn the side lighting on as well.
Thats all from me for now, thanks for stoppin by ✌️💚

KnightRider Hey Cannafam,
Its been a busy week for my Mexican gals, theyve been stretching away and pumping out leaves. Although i was unhappy at scrapping two of them its probably worked out for the best as ive really struggled with humidity this week and the dehumidifier has been on 24/7 and this is part of the reason i normally only run one plant in the cupboard thesedays.
The plant at the front of the tent is the one that started life well behind but somehow shes caught up and the same height as her sister 😊 The one as the back of the tent was quite bushy and i stripped out the mid section of fan leaves to let some light in, both have had two feeds this week but the one at the back is drinking twice as much water. Im also exceptionally pleased as it looks like both are gonna be ok and will not need to be culled 😁
No pistils yet the smell has increased slightly, i know its more of a waiting game but i haven't run photoperiods for a long time and this alone makes me a bit edgey.
Ive also started running the sidelighta at level 1 abd theyre getting 100ppfd from the side and 700ppfd from the top, il monitor and adjust as necessary based on how they react, thats all from me for now, thanks for stopping by 😊✌️

KnightRider Hey Cannafam Happy Weekend,
Well my Mexican Gals are properly in flower now and their pistils have started coming through 😊
Ive dailled back the lights as i did notice some scalloping of their up leaves and some signs of light stress on their tips at the beginning of the week and have adjusted things, they are now getttimg 300 ppfd from the main light and ive turned up the side lights to level 5 so they are also getting 300 ppfd from the sides.
This only my 2nd grow using side lights in flower but i quite like the lower wrap around effect rather than just giving everything from the top. I think both have finished stretching now, or at least i hope so as they've grpwn significantly in size and ive moved the main light to the top of the tent!
The gal i had defoliated has had a little more taken due to bushiness and the other plant ive left alone as she was more open, il just leaf tuck, use lst if needed. Also the plant which has been left alone is actually the one that started life much smaller after nearly chokin on her seed case, shes now actually slightly taller then her sister, u go girl 😁
Its been another week of battling humidity due to the weather outside which has been in the 90s and the dehumidifier has been working overtime, the environment has not been where id like it, but i am controlling as much as possible.
Two feeds for these gals this week one with flowering nutes and one with calmag and so far so good theyreboth lookin happy n healthy 😊
Thats all from me for now, thanks for stoppin by ✌️💚

KnightRider Hey Cannafam Happy Weekend 😊
My Mexican gals have had a hot week in the tent/cupboard. We've had some really hot days here in the UK with temps reaching 30c and remaining hot at night in the 20s. As a result things have been hot in the tent too and ive dailed the side lighting back to level 3 to stop things going over the 30c mark.
VPD is currently at 1.48 but has been swinging in the range of 1.1 = 1.6 and the dehumidifier has been going 24/7.
Despite the swings my gals are looking pretty happy and have got taller, the one that started life strangling herself was actually touching the light, her stem was to inflexable to bend, so applying a little pressure between thumb and for finger the tissue inside was softend and ive gently bent her top down away from the light and she seems ok. Il need to figure out how to support her thou should she become top heavy. The short veg time is a good call with this strain if growing upwards with no other training!
Flower development is coming along slowly but surely and but got a long way to go and pistils are looking vibrant. Both gals have had two feeds this week and im watering to a heavy run off due to the small pots, they have then drunk evrrything back up by the morning. So far so good and im enjoying watchin these gals develop 😊
Thats all from me this week, thanks for stoppin by ✌️💚

KnightRider Hey Cannafam Happy Weekend,
My gals have had a bit of a tricksy week, the largest of the two started showing magnesium deficiency at the beginning of the week and is lookin a bit unhappy and her sister also has the beginnings of it also. I think i caused lock out by giving too much food so both have been flushed and given a dose of calmag with trace and great white, hopefully this will help and il start a reduced feed next week.
Growth wise flowering is continuing ok and its nice to see the structure of the erb grown straight up 😊 Although i had bent one plant down away from the light, she fought her way up again and so further bending was necessary, maybe i should have gone further but i was worried about snapping the top off of her. Pistils are still looking vibrant and happy and ive managed to keep environment a bit better this week with VPD averaging 1.2. Now that temps and humidity have dropped a bit side lighting has gone back to half power.
Thats all from me for now, thanks for stopping by 😊✌️

KnightRider Hey Cannafam 💚
Its been a mixed week im the tent for my gals. lets start with the low and end up high, mmmmmmmm high 😃
The environment has been a real challenge again this week as were having another heatwave and although humidity has come down temps have shot up further and ive struggled to keep the tent under 30c, again the side lighting has been kept fown on level 3 to keep heat down so they are on about 300ppfd from above and 150 ppfd from the sides currently, extraction has been turned up but tbh its not making much difference as the tent is in a cupboard. I have started opening the doors when the lights are on at night but as the bedroom last night was still 27c with the windows open!(yes i haven't slept). VPD has also been whey above where i want it also ranging from 1.5 - 1.7 all week. The magnedium def has progressed so no feed this week and im gonna flush again before anything else as they are locked out and theres no point to keep chuckin calmag at them.
Now on the highs, flowering is coming along well and ive now supercropped the top of the second plant as the other one seemed to respond, its the first time i've tried this so quite interesting to see how it turns out but flowers on top are looking tasty. Buds also have allot more substance this week and are looking good 😊 Smell is also increasing and theres some lovely citrus notes coming out.
Thats all for now thanks for stopping by 😊✌️

KnightRider Hey Cannafam Happy Weekend,
Well my Mexican Gals have had a mixed week.
After flushing them i checked Ph and its currently sitting at the top end on 7, theyve been given a light feed at the beginning of the week, as i noticed a bit of burn as well on a couple of leaves, however theres has been more yellowing and ive trimmed away some of the affected ones.
The environment has been a bit better temp wise which has allowed me to turn up the side lights to 6 and shes now gettin a bit more what she needs light wise 300 ppfd from the top and 350 from the sides but its still been to hot overall for flowering but shes had a couple of weeks with low light due to the high tempretures in my house. VPD has been in the range of 1.44 - 1.6 for the week.
Her Buds are comin along and now look as if they have substance also they have some good frost as well, the two tops of the plants are also developing nicely and are chunkin up 😊
Shes also started to smell a little more this week and when open the tent you kinda delicate lemon with spicy undertones, the smell is pleasant but not overpowering and this strain seems well suited to discreet indoor growing.
These gals are struggling a bit but overall doing ok, im just gonna try to keep environment as consistant as possible with light feed and tlc.
Thats all from me this week, thanks for stopping by 😊✌️

KnightRider Hey Cannafam Happy Weekend,
My Mexican gals have had a better week overall. Ive just got a new phone after my trusty Samsung died after 7 years, sorry if the pics are a bit haphazard but still gettin used to the camera on this one and also GD is throwing out errors when i try to upload pics of the second plant, il try again tomorrow 🙁
Although yellowing has continued ive just been taking low and slow with feeding and they look a bit happier.
Pistils on the buds have started turning brown and development is continuing with more building up. The head of the first plant is looking nice and chunky with a nice frost. The second plants head is also building and the weight has pulled her down further, im watching the stem on this one as its not got much thicker and she may need additional support!
The environment has been roughly the same with tempreture about 27ish all week and Vpd at 1.4 -1.6 and ive kept lighting at the same levels.
These gals have still got some way to go but their flowers are lookin good, thats all from me this week, thanks for stopping by 😊✌️

KnightRider Hey Cannafam Happy Weekend,
My Mexican girls have had an ok week this week.
There has been more yellowing of leaves but theyre ok im just takin it slow and steady with them till the end. Environment has been more favorable between 1.24-1.44 and thing are coming along.
Theres been just one light feed with the bloom and calmag. Their buds look like theyre starting to mature a little faster now which im glad of as i currently only have CBD bud in stock currently and im getting restless for her flowers. Theres been a bit of bulking and top of the taller plant is looking good, the shorter plant has a smaller head which is still building but her lower buds are bigger than her sisters.
Smell has increased this week but only a little, this strain has a very managable smell and with tent open dosent stink the room out, just a nice kinda spicy lemon smell which is very pleasing.
Despite my earlier mistakes with feeding these gals are still doin good 😊
Thats all from me this week, thanks for stopping by 😊✌️

KnightRider Hey Cannafam Happy Weekend,
My Mexican girls are comin on slowly but surely this week.
Theres been a couple of the lower secondry leaves lost but yellowing has definitely slowed further, buds are continuing to develop and the lower ones on the shorter plant are definitely lookin a bit more meaty and the the main head of her has had a bit more development. The taller of the plants lower buds aren't as big but also are lookin a bit more solid and the head of that plant is lookin fab and has some nice frost forming.
Ive increased the side lighting a bit more this week and theyre now getting about 400ppfd from the side and 300ppfd from the top, Vpd has been in the range of 1.4-1.6.
Smell has increased again this week and i've had to turn up extraction, however the smell is still quite manageable and not invasive to the roo. when the tent is open. Feed wise just a bit of calmag and plain watering and il be givjng another very light feed soon, still keepin it low and slow with these gals.
Thats all from me this week, thanks for stopping by 😊✌️
Hey, regarding your leaves, just add a spoonful of dolomite lime, or you can also get some castor bean husk ash. Anyway, it's just a tip. In any case, happy growing!
@KnightRider, don't worry, it doesn't damage your substrate and it will provide for dolomitic lime calcium and magnesium a teaspoon from the time of potting 3 weeks later a tablespoon and when you enter flowering a new tablespoon.
For the castor shell ash, it is only used for flowering because of calcium and magnesium and phosphorus and potassium.
I posted a photo on my journals this week 3 photos where there are the different natural products that I use you will see if you want to see of course I'm not here to change your way of cultivating but if I can help you gain in yield well here I wish you a good evening and good cannabis cultivation
