On the back of a reasonably successful 1st grow (photo period) I decided to go 'Auto' in my 2x2 boiler cupboard :(
Fast Buds and Barney's Farm were an obvious choice for my first Auto grow due to stability in genetics and plenty of advice on Grow Diaries. The GGG3 from Dr Krippling has me feeling sceptical.
Regular paper towel germ method with a touch of Rhizotonic and 3 of 4 seeds burst through the soil in 24 hours or less!
Day 5 and a drink of PH water with full dose 4m/l Rhizotonic to stimulate the roots. It's an organic additive not a nute so hoping for a good response.
Fast Buds recommend early doses of Cal Mag for the Zkittelz Auto and a heavier feeding regime - how early do we add Cal Mag and what strength nutes do we start at and go up to?

Hi @Cerebral! Considering you're growing in tiny containers, I would recommend to add Cal+Mag by the end of week 2. A slight dose each week should suffice but pay attention to the early signs and increase Cal+Mag intakes if your plant asks for it. Also, I would add some more soil up to the maximum height of the container, more roots more fruits 👍 Good luck in this journey, keep us updated and happy growing 👊
The biggest struggle this week has been keeping RH above 60% so damp towels and spray bottle have been in constant action.
Despite the rookie error of not planting into finals pots, the transplant went well and the girls responded happily after a feed showing great growth from days 9 to 14.
Using an infrared temp gun to monitor Leaf Surface Temp gives me peace of mind, my air temps around 27.7c while LST sits at 25.5c at 60% RH.
All plants topped between days 14 to 16 at 4th node when 5th node was present. Tangerine Dream showed no stall from topping the others showed half a day to a day stall from topping but bounced back impressively.
Ran nutes at around 75% and all seems good like they could have handled more. Tangerine Dream and Cream Cookies showing pistils.

The Boiler Cupboard Grow is continuing to go well despite some yellow new growth on Zkittlez because she's a hungry cow!
Hot temps and low humidity in UK have proved difficult to negotiate and water temp bit high for roots but flowering is kicking in nicely.

Things are progressing well and some nice aromas have begun to kick in!
The zkittlez is currently 11inches tall from soil, cream cookies is 17inches, tangerine dream 16inches tall and GGG3 is 15 inches, all are flowering well especially cream cookies and the excitement has now increased.
Nutes at 75% to 85%, only tangerine dream showing slight burn.

The scent from GGG3 is insane already, a strong dank cat piss aroma and both Cream Cookies and Zkittlez have their noticeable signature fragrance already, Tangerine Dream is growing amazing but no smell yet.
Started CANNA BOOST at full strength 4ml per litre and cut back on Rhizotonic down to half.
Completed a medium to light defoliation on day 40 and didn't notice any stalling on any of the girls.

The Cream Cookies is fattening up so much compared to the other 3! I am very impressed.
The stench coming from the GGG3 is similar to Chinese food that was thrown into the bin 3 days ago. No carbon filter is proving to be awkward.

How much are people typically defoliating per plant and when?
I have taken around a handful of leaves off each plant once at day 30 and again at day 49 and find light penetration is beginning to struggle again - can I defoliate again before harvest without affecting yield?
don't defoliate after 2 weeks of flower as it will affect the yield negatively. my self i wait till just before the bud is about to open as the stretch is almost over and remove any low down bud sites and any leafs that do not get good light. i will also remove any leafs that cover a bud site so that is can get good light. if you look at some of my older grows i have some pics of my defoliated plants to give you an idea.
note that is you are scroging you generally want to remove any leafs or bud sites that don't get above the net ( see week 6 of my mid ayahuasca grow )
It seemed like the girls had lost their pace a little, (although still far exceeding my expectations) so I changed the feeding schedule to every 3 days opposed to the original 4 days and continued to give 3L each.
I was honestly leaving it too long watering every 4 days as the pots were lighter than necessary.
All plants are happy and stinky my gaf out! The fast buds girls definitely need a heavier feeding regime simply because fat bitches need more food!

Week 9 and found seeds in all plants! No pictures necessary! I can only put it down to some form of stress!
I have found a few seeds in various locations on all plants but so far it doesn't seem that excessive.
What would you do in my situation? Harvest on schedule or ASAP
Hey cerebral. Sorry about the seeds. If you dont have any plants that are not affecred to worry about pollinating then I would continue to grow them to harvest time. Seeded bud isnt the end of the world. Still has potential to be great buds. What I do is inspect the plants closely every day and look for pollen sacs developing. You want to carefully pluck them off trying not to crush them and release pollen and prevent further pollination. Just stay on it daily and get them through until harvest. Hope this info helps. I'm pretty sure this is because of poor genetics from Dr Krippling Seeds as the GGG3 sprouted definite bollocks around 3 weeks ago which I carefully removed and examined. I obviously wasn't vigilant enough and should have burned the bitch!
Seems like harvest will be a seed fest but at least I won't have to buy weed!

I decided to call it a day on this seed fest and started flushing at week 10.
Despite the seeds all plants smell absolutely dank and appear to be finishing up well.
The Cream Cookies and Zkittlez are definitely the stars of this show for aroma, trichome formation and potential yield!
Touching the sugar leaves on the Zkittlez and smelling it literally overpowered me like a killer bong hit, this shit is nothing like I've smelled before!
1 love to Fast Buds for some sick genetics, I will definitely be a continuous customer!
Barney's Farm have been around for many many years and know a thing or two about genetics which clearly shows in their Tangerine Dream Auto.
She was by far the easiest to grow and was the tallest/largest plant for most of the grow - at one point she looked around 10 days infront of the other 3 plants.
Smell through flower was delicious like orange starburst candy, sweet and dank and the size of the colas were huge!
After a 7 day dry and 10 day cure in mason jars the result is a very well rounded smoke and high. The taste is subtle tangerine candy, sweet on the inhale and resinous on the exhale with a hashy vibe.
The effects are distinct giving a fast body high locking you to the couch but with enough of a head high to give you a good giggle watching a funny movie or some stand up comedy.
This is my girlfriend's favourite strain out of the 4 plants grown due to it's mild and easy smoke with strong effects. I am always searching for that strong taste, strong effect legendary strain so this Tangerine Dream Auto falls short for me.
This strain won't be making a return to my boiler cupboard but was simple to grow, gave a good yield and some good smokeable weed.
Overall it was worth the effort to grow but does not compare to the other 3 plants harvested. A good choice for beginners.
Let's ignore the fact this whore was the offender who grew big bollocks and seeded up the whole show! It can only be put down to weak genetics from Dr Krippling Seeds!
She grew weakest of the 4 plants from the start showing the slower production and thinner branches leaving me worried.
By the time flowering kicked in and the testicles showed up around 3 week of flower she had grown substantially becoming the tallest plant - probably something to do with the male hormones running riot.
At harvest time she had produced tight, long, sticky, stinky, gorgeous buds smelling like sweet lemon candy.
After the correct drying and curing regime the final smoke is one to relish and remember and definitely makes it into my top 10 strains!
The smell by now is a sweet kind of soapy citrus, lemon chewy candy with a slight baked undertone. Sweet and deep on the inhale staying lemony and dank and then slightly peppery on the exhale holding the sweetness.
Effects are delayed and creep up on you pretty much wiping you out after a fat joint, definitely an evening desert strain and works well to de-stress and/or minor pain relief.
A good strain overall and very pungent, grows easy but will not make another appearance in the boiler cupboard.
The hype from Dr Krippling says you get approx 80g bud per plant which i can't see is possible with this strain due to its short life.
Easy to grow and very nice buds, tasty and provides good a high but ultimately messed up my grow with seeds!
This is a very impressive strain showing the amazing genetics Fast Buds provide and more than lives up to the hype!
She grew well but needs a full strength feed per watering or deficiencies can show up quickly.
The smell while harvesting was chocolate but that switches to a strong dark berry fruit aroma soon after.
The final dried and cured outcome is killer! Super dense good looking nugs holding a very strong scent and taste like blackcurrant, citrus and aniseed!
The effects are noticeable before the first joint is finished. The head high appears quickly and strikes hard following through with an all over body relaxation.
This is an all time favourite of mine and an excellent evening smoke to help unwind after a long day or chill and watch a movie.
Loved growing this Zkittlez Auto from Fast Buds, it will definitely make another appearance in one of my future boiler cupboard grows.

Amazing! This has got to be one of the best autos available! From ease of growing to the dank, sweet and strong rich cookie taste, this is a 10/10 and will have a place in every auto grow I do.
She grows in a way that lets lots of light through the canopy giving big wide buds along each cola. The smell is a rich baked biscuit aroma fully living up to it's heritage.
The smoke is deep and sweet and not one for the beginner due to it's heavy handed effects. Chocolate and real cookie sweet baked flavours shine strongly with each hit.
The effects are perfect for anytime with happiness and giggles a definite along with a nice body relaxation that doesn't lock you down unless you overdo it!

This grow has urged me to go fully Fastbuds genetics for my next auto run, their strains are all strong smelling strong hitting and grow awesome as long ad you feed them well.
Grow diaries is the best place to learn, compare and improve on all aspects of growing bud and I'm so pleased I found it!

Usually tap water has enough cal mag. If your water source has less than 0.5 EC (250 PPM), then use cal mag or similar. My water has 25 PPM, so I give cal mag from the beginning
Can't believe it! Mould in 3 of 4 plants!!!!! Dirty bud rot!!!
Luckily i noticed it early while it's still white and whispy and removed all traces, around 5g to 7g per plant.
The rainy UK weather is a bitch! I've had more problems with this autoflower grow than my last 3 photo grows in the same space! Wtf?

Thanks @Stick, the advice is much appreciated, I've transplanted to 3gal fabric pots, my first mistake was failing to plant in final pots :( hope the shock is minimal!
The tap water in my area needed a slight bump of Cal Mag and a trace amount sufficed with a full dose of Rhizotonic that all plants seemed to enjoy, thanks @@Athos.
Leaf surface temp reads 25c while air temp is at 27.7c but only when RH is above 52%. If RH is below 52% then rapid overheating begins rising above 29c so with no humidifier it is proving to be a very hands on grow! Any advice is very welcome!
I'm using digital, mercury and infrared thermometers and air temps are accurate where 28c translates to 25.5 leaf surface temp but only when RH is at 52%+ humidity otherwise leaf temp is over 28c and rising, how do I manage this?
