G3.2.26 - TerpyZ Fruit Trees

postpluves 27.06 It’s hot! It’s humid! It’s weather that makes you want to shut down anything that generates heat! And yet here we are, running a full grow tent in this heat. An uneventful week outside of the temperatures, which has also been a good moment to try the Rhizotonic tester I got at MJ. Good for plants suffering from heat stress? Don’t mind if I do! I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s helped. Leaf structure seems more textured than other plants I’ve grown, and the tips a little more deeply serrated, but that could just be wishful thinking. But, considering TerpyZ also mentions the potential for some classic leaf varieties in their copy I could be right

postpluves 06.07 Another uneventful week, but this time without complete documentation! Shame! Shame on me! That said, it’s easy goings with ms Fruity, and she’s got some of the biggest leaves on a plant this size I’ve seen so far. Obviously this may just be because she’s the first photo I’ve grown, and autos are built different. Coming back from my weekend out, her leaves are as big as my hand! Granted, I’ve got mini sized mitts, but the fact that N2 (two!) leaves are big enough to cover my entire hand does say something, I think. She’s also got a FUNKY odour going on. Tonsil stones (affectionate).

postpluves 12.07 A week that had me do the scariest thing I’ve done to a cannabis plant so far. I won’t lie, chopping down all the lush green to try some manifolding really did hurt my heart a little bit. That said, she seems to be bouncing back slowly, but god I feel impatient. All for the sake of learning something new though! A photo seemed like the perfect test subject for this, and with how well topping an auto went (2.1.26), I’m willing to give it a shot. Maybe I should have grown a photo regular style first, but I like a challenge, and I’m going to assume my other TerpyZ seeds might not be as amenable to manifolding (mutants incoming :3). Put the best looking cut offs in some water to try and root them. After all, this what photos are good for, propagation through cuttings! If they survive and root, that’d be great as I should be able to keep everything vegging until it’s all a good size. If they die, well… Learnt something new, I guess.

postpluves 17.07 Another week, another (this time less scary) trim. I guess now I’ve done that first trim down to the third node and clean her up, topping to third and taking out just the second seems like peanuts. Still scary, but fun to see, and isn’t the symmetry pleasing to look at? Coming weeks should be smooth sailing, as it’s just waiting for the plant to get to a size I’m happy with. Can’t wait to see the difference a (manifolded) photo makes!

postpluves 25.07 Not much going on this week. I’ve mostly just been tying her down and taking off side shoots. As this is my first photo, I’m not super sure how long to keep her like this, but considering stretch will double her height, I’m thinking of letting her run another week or two before the flip. Taking suckers off for the simple reason of everywhere I see plants with nakey stems, and if it helps my tomatoes focus on what they got going on instead of what could be, surely my weed plant will do the same, right?

postpluves 02.08 I’m still not quite sure how long to keep running a photoperiod in veg before flipping to flower, but all branches now have enough nodes that the bottom three can be cleared. In my head I had a rough timeline that suggested flipping either this coming week or the one after, but the first drastic cut’s tops have fonally rooted! I should probably plant and grow those out before flipping my one single tent to 12/12.

postpluves 07.08 Last week of vegetative state! Well… Probably. All eight branches have had the first three nodes remove, and have five nodes on top. About ready to get started on making some flowers, right? I guess I could keep her going for longer, but honestly, why wait? A potential bigger yield, but it’s good to set a baseline. My only issue is that the clone I took at the first manifold cut has finally rooted, and I intend to plant it in soil too. After all, two plants for the price of one. Issue is… There is only one tent. What do I do with the baby? Presumably she’d also start flowering if I flip to 12:12. All that said, time for baby girl to start growing up. Next week, flower week 1 :3

postpluves 15.08 A scorcher of a week, and probably as good a time as any to flip the lights to a slightly less intense schedule. I waffled a little about when to start, so ended up flipping her on Monday. In the meantime she’s seen a fair bit of growth, but not, as far as I’ve seenc any flower production. Things like that are a process, but I expect to be seeing them in the week ahead. Noticed once again that the plants prefer it when I sit and baby their watering versus here it is drink up, and I think next grow I might try bottom feeding. My main question about that one is evaporation to the air, but something to look into.

postpluves 23.08 Flowering has started! Or well, Sunday brough the first pistils, and by Friday we had some real starts of flowers in the tops, but honestly, I count flowering from the first sign of pistils. Still a lot of growth in height this past week, and it’s been a bit of a trial and error getting the light set right. Especially as Leia (4.2.26) is a little bit shorter, though not by much. Speaking of which… Damn, she’s starting to get BIG. Seeing plenty of leaves with 10+ fingers, and have even found a single 15 fingered leaf! Manifold still tight, watering has gone from 1L to 1.5L per watering, nutrients are fully switched to flower focused ones, weather’s cooling so the tent environmentals will be easier to manage… Now all we can do is wait.
