Braindump: Cut down Medusa today, and now looking extra hard at seeds to keep an eye out for next week. There’ll be a couple of breeders at MJB who do funky looking phenotypes (Frisian Duck!), and now I’ve definitely figured out if I like growing (I do), I want to do some fun stuf in my coming grows. Obviously I’m also still aiming to be self sufficient in my weed needs, or weeds, if you will, but if you can’t get a little silly with things, what is the point even?

Braindump time: tested the Milky Way F1 and I’m pretty sure her watering issues are why she’s solidly underwhelming. Buds are thinner than I’d like, and there is very little nose to her even in a jar at storing humidity. If I were to guess, I underwatered too often during early flower, which dried out the top layer of substrate to the point of being a little hydrophobic. Preliminary 5/10, but that is mostly (maybe entirely) my fault. Medusa on the other hand is already more fragrant than any of the other 4 plants I’ve had in there were at this stage. Orange hard candy vibes. She’s also thirstier than any of my other plants have been, or maybe I’m getting the hang of reading the plant and substrate when it comes to water. (Or! Secret third option! I’m overwatering her and this will bite me in the ass in a few weeks.) Regardless, exactly a month from topping, and she’s looking lush. I’m seeing more and more trichome laden leaves around the flower sites, which I’m taking as a very good sign.

I kind of wish this had a more generic blog feature to braindump about growing and cannabis, but that may be the better parts of two decades on Tumblr speaking for me. But especially considering how beneficial an active blogosphere is to a hobby/craft/art community. Blogs help people share knowledge in a more long form way, making information accessible to the masses, without having to resort to a video format that was pushed purely because of a marketing decision. Knitting and crochet still have active blogospheres, where people share patterns, recommendations, and things they’ve learnt. Why not go for a format that stays (ish), rather than catchy five minute reels? /blogpost
