PapaTerps Big Z - Wizard Trees
SUMMER is upon us and grows that were started around March are a week or so away from harvest - so that means I'll have an empty tent pretty soon! So I've decided to start another grow for this Summer and into Autumn.
I've selected Big Z by Wizard Trees for this grow, I've chosen her for her high quality Zkittlez genetics (aka Wizzy) and her spiced candy flavours! I will be vegging her for about 7 weeks and I will be using a mixture of growing techniques which I have used before, including topping with some low stress training. You're all more than welcome to follow along, I will try to detail my process without overloading each week with too much Information!
Day 1 (16/06)
- Seed dropped into a small metal screw tin filled with RO Tap water pH'd to 6.3 and stored in a dark warm room - she will remain here until the seed pops and a taproot appears; I will check the progress of the seed every ~12 hours.
Day 2
- The seed has already popped and a taproot has appeared, so I've filled a small 0.3L paper starter pot with some All-Mix and dropped the seed in!
Day 3
- The seedling has already appeared from the soil, with her two starter leaves already searching for light.
Day 5
- She has a nice long stem and her first leaves have started to develop ๐๐ป

๐ฟ Watered every three days with 2L of RO water, with nutrients mixed individually and in order, finally I ph'd the solution to 6.3. I have upped her Fish-Mix and Acti-Vera nutrients to promote growth and plant health!
โ๏ธ I've removed two of her top most fan leaves to improve light penetration to the lower nodes, this will encourage lower stem growth.
๐ฑ Week 2 of Veg, and shes working on developing her root system in her new pot, stretching and strengthening her main stem as well as producing lower side stems ๐ช๐ป She is by far the largest plant in this grow, she's a beast! This one may be a candidate for multiple toppings!๐๐ป

โ๏ธ I've removed a couple of her lower fan leaves to improve airflow and I've also topped her main stem to allow the lower stems to grow up and form a consistent canopy ๐ช๐ป
๐ฑ Week 3 of Veg, she recovered quickly from her first topping and has started to grow out her lower stems and supporting fan leaves! She has impressed me with her growth so far - I have at least another four weeks of veg planned for her, so shes going to be massive when I switch over to 12/12!!

โ๏ธ Great week for this one, she recovered well after her topping and immediately started stretching and developing new growth! I've lollipopped her to help with airflow and to encourage her to grow upwards, but other than that, she's just been left to do her thing ๐ช๐ป
๐ฑ Week 4 of Veg and she is rocketing, developing her stems and bud sites! I moved her into my new 5x5 tent with the G1000 light this week and she has responded well to it; she has more light and space to grow! She has another 3-4 weeks of veg left, so she might require another round of topping to ensure she doesn't outgrow the tent! But other than that, she's 10/10 so far!

๐ฟ Watered every four days with 3L of RO water, with nutrients mixed individually, in order and then finally, I ph'd the solution to 6.3. I've reduced her root nutrient as she no longer requires it and increased her CalMag because some of the plants were showing signs of magnesium deficiency. From next feeding, I will start to introduce her bloom nutrients.
โ๏ธ I've given her a good pre-flower defoliation and I've lollipopped her up to about where her first topping occured. Her canopy has naturally kept and even enough height after the toppings, so I haven't had to train her so far! She will be left alone now until her stretch phase of flower has completed.
๐ฑ Week 5 of Veg and 52 days from seed, shes had a fantastic veg never looked bothered by any topping or defoliation I gave her, she has also developed big thick stems, and has grown pistils around all of her bud sites, so she is ready for flower! Another week or so to go, but she's ready ๐๐ป

๐ฟ Watered every three days this week, with 3L of RO water, with nutrients mixed individually, in order and then finally, I ph'd the solution to 6.3. I've switch out her veg nutrients now for bloom nutrients; these volumes will slowly be increased over the next couple of weeks depending on her needs.
โ๏ธ No work on her this week, I don't usually defoliate or train my girls during the first and second week of bloom because I want to reduce as much stress as possible.
๐ธ She has reached maturity, has big strong lateral stems, a nice even canopy with no signs of deficiencies or illnesses, so she is ready for the 12 switch. I gradually reduced her light schedule over the last five days until she hit the 12 hour schedule today, so today is her first day "in bloom"! She should start her stretch pretty soon, so she'll be left to grow for the next couple of weeks.

โ๏ธ No work on her this week, I tend to leave my girls alone during the first and second week of bloom.
๐ธ Week 2 of bloom and she's trucking along just like the other girls, she's stretching well and her budsites have begun to show flower! I'll soon have to start managing the odour, as the tent begins to fill with that beautiful scent ๐๐ผ

๐ธ She has finished her stretch and remained relatively small compared to the other plants in the tent, but is big enough to not require any assistance. She has now switched her focus over to developing her flower, which absolutely stinks; a beautiful fruity scent that fills the tent and the room! I've attached the carbon filter to reduce the smell, but something tells me that'll only work for so long... Other than that, she looks strong and healthy ๐ช๐ป
โ๏ธ I've lollipopped her again, removing all leaves stems and budsites below the top 6 nodes from the canopy - these lower branches won't develop into anything and will more than likely cause problems later down the line. I've also removed a couple of the larger fan leaves from her center, to improve airflow and light penetration ๐ช๐ป
๐ง Watered every three days with 4L of RO water, with nutrients mixed individually, in order and then finally, I pH'd the solution to 6.3. I've increased some of her nutrients and added the AlgaMix as a precaution to any temperature fluctuating that might occur this time of year.

๐ธ Another great week for this girl, her structure reminds me of the Holy Snow I grew at the start of this year, nice even canopy with an almost perfect distance between each main budsites. She has a colourful flower, with a delicious candy scent that make you feel like you're in a candy shop! She should start bulking over the next week or so, so I'm excited to see where she goes from here! All the girls have been moved into the Spider Farmer 8x4, because the 5x5 and 4x2 were too difficult to manage ๐๐ป
