Selkot We're expecting a scorching summer here in northwestern Europe, so I figured I'd try my luck with a small outdoor run 😎 I received several free seeds from Fast Buds, so I decided to pop a 1-pack of Strawberry Gorilla. I picked up a small €20 greenhouse and went with a fabric pot filled with a homemade garden mix: 70% orchid potting mix, 15% clay pebbles, and 15% all-purpose potting soil. Germination in a peat pellet only took 3 days. That small layer of inert peat will act as a buffer between the seedling and the substrate during the first couple of weeks. For now, she's getting nothing but plain water with a little Voodoo. So far, she seems to be adapting really well. After the first 7 days, I haven't seen any signs of early nutrient burn. For pest control, I'm keeping things nature-based: companion planting with cherry tomatoes and basil, both of which help repel different kinds of pests. And of course, a few sticky traps for the more adventurous visitors 😏

Selkot . A good first week The little one has adapted well to the substrate, simple but well-draining, and has started stretching upward, now reaching 8 cm The Northern European sun isnt as intense as it is in other regions, so the stem has stretched a little more than Id like. However, the forecast calls for plenty of clear skies over the next few days, so I'll expose her to a bit more sunlight and wind to help strengthen the stem. She's still doing just fine with Voodoo alone. Ive got another week or two before I start considering a more complete feeding schedule.

Selkot As planned, the little one spent the entire week outside the greenhouse. It did her a world of good! The stem has thickened without stretching too much, the leaves have broadened, and she's drinking a bit more water. On the last day, I started a light feeding with All-in-One and Sugar Royal. With another week of sunny weather in the forecast here, I think she's about to kick her growth into high gear.

Selkot 17 cm tall and 4 well-developed nodes: time for the topping. Even outdoors, I like to keep control over my plant's structure, so I'm shaping it into a cross with four main colas. The goal is to keep it discreet, wide, and not too tall, encouraging the development of four large buds and a few secondary ones rather than a single dominant cola stretching endlessly toward the light. Even if the summer stays warm, daylight hours will only continue to decrease, so I need to prepare for the end of the cycle when sunlight will no longer be abundant. So far, everything is going perfectly: daytime temperatures are still above 30°C, the nights aren't too cool, and there are no signs of pests. Hopefully, the tomatoes and basil growing nearby will help protect it from some of them until harvest.
