8.8.2019. - week 8 on the way, would like to see a bit more progress but they are going nicely. So apparently, deer really like to munch on the Dark Devil ๐ฟ๐ . "Fortunately" they only seem to be eating the leaves and not the buds, for now at least. We will try to install some wireless motion sensor lights to try and scare them away at night when they feast. So far tactics with urine in bottles, sweaty T-shirt and dog hairs didn't work, they are really used to humans. Of all the things I was afraid that would hurt our ladies, the least I expected were damn deer ๐ฉ
9.8.2019. - decided to give them only bloom nutes today, cutting down on nitrogen a bit. Deer still present.

So Dark Devil is showing some signs of N toxicity as far as I can tell. I have lowered her feeding to 1/3 of recommended, and then she just got plain pH water. When should I introduce nutes again and how much? Also should I flush her thoroughly beforehand?
I'd do plane water flush for a few days then resume that feeding schedule but at 1/4 strength to start they are weeds that can recover good just need that little TLC not to much that first week as she needs to recover ,lots will say return to 1/2 or 3/4 strength but I would think that to much for a recovering girl my two cents..cheers
@Sweet_Seeds, it is indeed ๐ she is doing great job protecting them ๐ช
Thanks! But hats off to you, awesome genetics you guys are breeding, she is really strong and healthy (not to mention the amazing colors ๐).
Will try to keep it that way ๐โ
Hows the LST going with them? Im not sure whether to do the same with at least one of my dark devils. Struggling too decide though as some people say its best too leave naturally while others say better with LST. Would be fun too try it out on one for an experiment though i think. Yours is looking very healthy and quiet tall for day 21 mine wasnt quiet at that point that soon. Started too flower end of week 4 beginning of week 5 but i have got one problem with one of the plants, it has loads of holes in all of the leaves which im not sure what has caused it.. Im guessing its bugs, possibly wind burn. Hopefully i can solve it as its my nicest one which has been infected. Good luck with the grow.
@Emery1991, Yes, I've seen your diary. ๐
This may be due to the weather. Many times, a very low relative humidity can cause them to change to this color. But it is also normal in the pistils that appear in the branches.
Search in google: cannabis flower. You can see that it is also normal to have brown pistils.
Sweet smokes!

@Sweet_Seeds, Did you check on my diary? I am pretty sure i was wrong thinking it was a hermie now. I cant spot any male flower on it either. What really had me worried was one of the plants pistils all went brown really early on ( I have pics on my diary ) I did some searching and one of the main reasons is pollination. I couldnt figure out how as i had no males so i assumed one of them was a hermie as it had a couple bits round the bud sites which i just couldnt make out. I did spray them all with cannacure around the bud sites as well the day before i noticed it happen. Two of them were completely fine though so i was confused why only one had the brown pistils on. I can see all the new pistils coming out on it seem too be white now though. Not sure 100% what caused this, whether it was nutes, environment, or pollen. I also crushed one of the calyx open with tweasers too try too find seeds but couldnt find any. Had some pest trouble with one of the plants, but its doing really well considering. So far i think these are great genetics and i think in the next couple of weeks there going too explode. Looking forward too it, as long as nothing too dramatic happens in the time being and we get a bit more sun they should be fine.
@Growdaddy420, Seems like a fairly easy and effective way to go about it, pretty straightforward as it should be. Hope everything is going well with your health, stay medicated! ๐ช :)
@DDude, I am very greatful for legalization.
To get your licence you need a perscription from a doctor and than you have to file for a grow licence from the government. Your prescription is issued as G's/day which determines how many plants you're allowed to grow. You can be indoor only, outdoor only or hybrid like I am. The more Indoor plants the more plants you're allowed. Outdoor only with my prescription is 10. Indoor only is 25. Plus the 4 recreational plants.
Ive always wanted to try a low THC high CBD strain, be interesting to isolate the difference between the two.
@Growdaddy420, Ah that sounds amazing, I'm really glad that Canada pushed in the right direction, let's hope that soon the rest of the world will follow!
Do you need some sort of a license to grow that many plants? Where I live it is only allowed (with a special license of course) to grow certain strains of hemp that have less than 0.2% thc, then again most of the EU is more or less the same I think. But there are some nice cbd strains that fall into that category that I would like to get my hands around.
Ahh, That's gutting about the deer.. Haha well random. You live in Canada or something? Not many wild deer around this area. We get lots of rabbits around here though as quiet a fair few years ago me and a few mates had a nice grow on in a spot we found a couple miles away from the house. Had too crawl under a load of gorse bushes and dig up a pile of the bushes in the middle of it too make the spot. Sort of made a little tunnel we had too close up every time we went there. Was a right mission. Then one of the days we went up and found a load of them had been eaten by rabbits and literally they left us a few stalks with a couple of leaves on lmao. But believe it or not most of them went on and survived and we put some wire around them and partly under the ground incase as well. Didnt have any more come for them and in the end they were some really nice plants and actually grew stronger i think because of the high stress. They didnt munch them all but most of them. They werent autos though. Fair play though ure plants are coming on nicely, there massive now. They should come on really well in the next few weeks. Might be a 13 week job though by the looks of things. Im not sure though, im not sure how much mine have left. They seem too be growing at different rates. I think 11 weeks should do it but for my smallest one the lower fan leaves are starting too yellow quiet alot now and i read somewhere that first sign of yellowing leaves usually means you have about 3 weeks or so left and when the smaller bud leaves start yellowing a bit then its ready too cut down. Good luck with the deer problem and the rest of the grow. ๐
@DDude,
Yeah, for sure. Not something i see very often. It sure does, i read yesterday that pineapple express is one of the mold resistant plants and we had a few of them up there and they didnt mold so that was cool.
Ahh thats good news, indeed. Bit of luck. ๐
It is delicious iver smoked some now ( it was fresh still ) But it actually was really tasty. I the smallest plant of mine show up with a bit of mold yesterday tried too take that bit off but checked again in couple of hours and one of the branches had it.. I decided too take her down when i could. But i was worried it may have spread too the others and then today i checked and the middle size one in the green pot had a tiny bit on one of the branches so i took that branch down and i am hoping i can get away with the next week or so. But it usually strikes in dark damp places so it will probably happen over night if it does. Be a shame too pull them all down early without even being able too flush them. Luckily im using organics and it shouldnt matter as much. But even still it does say on the feeding schedule too cut the flores out on the last week or 2.
Guess i just gotta wait it out and hope for the best now. Managed too salvage a little bit from the small one i pulled up. Looks like a quarter or maybe 10 grams worth, not alot but better than nothing. The other ones look more dense though so i think maybe 20 - 30 g a plant for them. I find its got quiet a citrus smell/taste. But the best time too smell and taste is after the curing process. Makes its truer flavours come out. Some of the hairs on the tops are browning now and leaves are beginning too yellow and die off, only a couple though. I think i will leave the surviving ones outside again tonight and see if i got more in the morning, if not i may try flushing them early and harvest at the end of the week or next week now.
I see what you mean by that flowery scent too it now, smells lovely.
@Emery1991, It's a bit strange to see them roaming around in a fairly urban area. Ye I can imagine, it gets really humid by the coast.
They haven't eaten anything in the past two days, so lets hope the tactic worked ๐
Haha I feel ya, I'm drooling all over them every time I go see them xD the smell of the Devil is amazing, mine has sort of a flowery scent to it, kinda like some laundry detergent. It's a bummer about the White Strawberries :/ unfortunately it happens from time to time... I'd also def want to try and grow it in a bigger container, next season is gonna be fun!
@DDude,
Haha, ok. xD Thats pretty cool, must be nice having the odd deer coming over too you. Yes, it sure was. :) Worked out really well in the end and it had alot of sun all hours of the day. Didnt think it would work so well because it was right next too the sea as well, thought the salt in the atmosphere would have a negative effect on them. But it didnt, although we did have a slight mould problem with some of the plants.
Thats fine if there only munching the leaves, thats the least of ure worries then. Thats great news, hopefully they get the gist then and dont come back for more.
Yeah northern lights is supposed too have one of the highest bud too leaf ratios as well, that should be nice.
Cheers, they are coming on really well now! ๐ I picked off a few of the calyx's yesterday and smoked them wet haha, couldnt resist myself. But i was impressed actually was really nice. Bet it will taste alot better once dried and cured though. xD Not long too go now. So glad i didnt pull that plant up which i thought hermied on me. The white strawberries from my other journal has gone full male though which im gutted about as it was a feminized seed too. But other than that im doing good. Yeah that one purple one which has gone purple too the leaves, it is beautiful. Looks like ure one is the same as well. I would defo grow this strain again i think it's a really nice strain. Only next time i would like too use 20 litre smart pots.
@Cannibalgardens, it should be getting at least 5-6 hrs of direct sunlight, so I don't have much worries about that. Pests and bugs on the other hand...
Are you using organics, or chemical nutrients? If there chemical nutes you defo should be careful with them as they effect them instantaneous from what i gather but with organic nutes they are slow release and is hard to overdose with them. I went for organics partly for this reason as there easier for beginners from what i've read. I'm doing roughly half the recommended dose with them and havent had any problems yet. Your leaves are very dark green for sure which is a sign of the nitrogen toxicity. Looks good though keep it up. There coming along nicely now. Got more nodes and look taller than mine were at that point, Not sure if one of mine hermied on me and i think one of them might be pollenated as all the pistils have gone brown very early on.. I hope this is not the case as i dont want a seedy stash. I think ive delayed my bloom nutes a little long as well still havent started with them yet and week 6 in 2 days.. Also with organics they take about a week too be able too use them which is the slight problem with organics. There us positives and negatives with either.. I think i will introduce half bloom half veg nutes week 6 then transition too full bloom nutes week 7.
@DDude, Thought i'd give the organics a go, took me a while too decide though too be fair.
Yeah i am not 100% there nannas yet, i'm beginning too wander if it's because i've been giving too much nitrogen and havent switched too bloom nutes yet that it's just chucking out a load of foliage, i just gave them some flores mixed with vega today. But they could well be nannas still just don't see them looking like any of the pics i have found on google. Although on one part of it it looks like i can see a yellow dot inside it which looks like it could be pollen.. But im sure i'd be seeing some balls on it haha. They take a while too mature as well before they open up.. Im sure it is still too early for that too happen. I did spray the whole of all the plants with cannacure the other day as well and am not sure if that affected the pistils on one plant as they have all gone brown.. Or maybe that was overfed i dont know.. Possibilites are endless it seems. It says too use cannacure all the way through until harvest spraying both sides of all the leaves but it is impossible too not hit the buds as well.. Which i assume when young shouldnt be too bad as rot is more common with thick dense nuggets. The one i am unsure about if its hermie looked the same before i did the LST though and also noticed some slugs have munched a few holes in the leaves too. I am trying too hold on to it until i can really make my mind up if it is a hermie or not before i pull it as it is the nicest one i got. Trouble is i might end up messing up all 3 of them which would be a right shame as i was looking forward too trying these very much. Are you sure this is hermie? I dont have much experience so i am not sure. All i can do is hope for now. xD It's also been very windy here so that could be more stress too. Thing is as well is that its only one plant which pistils have gone brown which could be pollination where if the hermie affected that one it surely would have effected itself and the other plant too? Been searching the web for hours on all this and been giving me a headache lmao. Stressful stuff indeed. When one thing goes wrong it all happens.
@Emery1991, I'm using chemical nutrients, you're right that didn't cross my mind... Will be more careful in the future, and will definitly check out some organic fertilizers!
I've checked your new photos, I'm afraid those do look like nanners :/ something must have really stressed her out to do go hermie like that. I just hope it's not bad genetics, maybe you could talk to @Sweet_Seeds ? I'm sure the genetics are good though, just ask for advice. I would suggest removing her immediately, so you dont risk pollinating the rest. Is it the one you dicided to LST? Which is looking really good btw ๐ช
It's a bummer man I feel ya, had a hermie once at the end of flower, luckily spotted it on time. Where there any environmental stressors other than those nasty bugs that could have triggered it?
@Sweet_Seeds, It has been taken care of, lets hope they won't be coming back! It sure is, they have drooled all over her, same as I did ๐๐ Cheers!
@Gratefuldead, Tnx Mate! I'll do my best to make the spot tip-top for the ladies. I've heard that human urine actually works quite well to keep animals away, can't hurt anyone if I try ๐ As for the snails those might be though, but I have some things planned. Also gonna get some nematodes ๐ช
@Gratefuldead, it sure is a bummer :/ Rain is coming to the balkans today, gonna be a shitty weather for a few days so I'll have to keep the ladies inside. If you can put them under some lights, they won't mind :)
