first grow. fucked the roots up but cant remember how. You will see the results in the next weeks. germed in coffee filter. direct in final container. Too much heat (heatwave). Too much light(also heatwave). didnt wet soil before planting in etc... noob mistakes as is tradition. Also bought the wrong soil for a beginner (canna terra pro plus)

So between d3 and d11 I fucked this guys' roots up. Resulting in stunted growth and all the damage you see on the leaves. Started PHing my water and keeping the substrate moist. However it is not drinking much and even keeping the substrate moist is resulting in drooping and general sadness on jacky's end. Still too hot outside, dear god...

so whenever watering this weakling it would fall over because the root system is such a ball of sadness. at d18 I started with nutes and since the soil is so depraved of nutes it seems that his is what jacky wanted(see d19) Im starting below the lowest specs regarding nutes because of its weak state I do not want to damage the roots further. I also spray the plants every week with canna cure and give them some garlic concentrate 1ml/1 to avoid bugs

look at that comeback story. I am seeing some lightening of the tips so I am keeping this one on a low nute diet. sometimes I dont give nutes sometimes I do. I just go by gut feeling, you know the 'pro' grower I am... Just a bit scared with this one because of its rough start :) Did a smell test on d24 and started to get a wiff when leaning in real close. got stronger at the end of the day. Haven't watered in a couple of days because the weatherhas turned. started LST. upped feeding

Leaf veins seem to be getting lighter or am i imagining things? Growing in canna terra pro+, with light feeding and ph water. (http://www.canna-uk.com/terra_professional_plus). Any tips regarding this semi soilless substrate since I seem to be having a harder time then the other

@Kenethica Hi there I think you need some supplemental calcium and magnesium I have also noticed some bites out of your bottom leaves which suggests insect damage. I would get some diatomaceous earth and sprinkle some around the plant and make a spray with the DE mixed with water for the leaves, this will eventually deter insects from eating your leaves and also add silica to your soil which helps build cell walls in the plant essentially making it stronger Hope this helps mate

still growing but slowed down again because of the shitty heat. also had a nute problem but got it fixed in a day by diluting the substrate with phd water. Continuing LST now that he is having some nice side branches. lowered nutes a bit looks like she is going into flower not sure though. she is in flower. huzzah

New week and officially in flower mode. The plant shot up like crazy. from 23cm to 38 in a a little over a week. ending this week with a 50/50 feed to accomodate the final stretch. next week full flower. plant showing some light spots again but the medium was flushed due to shower so i am guessing its due to that. We will see. I also see white fly trying but not liking the bio products. No sign of eggs just the occasional fly that lands and says:"nah, fam" pretty excited for the top.

second week of flower. not sure if the stretch is out of it but it switched to full nute I am betting on there still being enough in the ground for any remaining stretch. Continued with LST since the branches are still supple and easy to manipulate. Moved up higher on the stalk as well for the LST since the side branches were getting pretty long. Not sure if I should LST the ones at the top. they are about an inch long. Eventually didnt LST the top branches. smell is still very manageable.

Another week of flower. Still growing quite steadily in height. Weather was horrendous this week but should improve starting today. Buds still need fattening and overall she looks still very early in flowering stage. not much to do at this moment except monitoring and feeding. week done, buds are starting to grow fatter. cleared some old leaves.

weather is way better, fear of rot setting in is about 9 at this moment. She drinks just over a liter per day now but I think i am having some buildup in my substrate because some leaves were yellowing near the base. Mostly young ones. So i decided to hold off from any extra feed for a moment.

Was gone for a week, but someone took care of them <3. sooo the weather has been a pain in the ass recently because we are now approaching autumn the humidity and amount of dew in the evening night and morning has really ramped up. Fortunately the amount of rain and humidity during the day has been ok. No rot detected (smell/sight). The humidity during the evening night and morning does however bring out the snails and boy are they many... I moved jack because of it. Regarding feeding in my week of absence i stopped feeding jack nutes and flushed her because she was showing some yellowing of the leaves. However this has continued. Fan leaves keep yellowing but only the fan leaves. So now im just thinking this is rather normal since we are nearing the end of flowering stage? All the smaller leaves are fine. just every week there is 2 or so fan leaves that bite the dust. I have started nutes up again this week. Lets talk trichomes. Getting them in focus with a jewelers loop is a paint in the ass and I am still seeing lots of clear trichomes so this one is still good to go. So my plan now is to leave them as they are and just go with the weather. If it turns too sour I will just cut em. Id rather have less potent bud then rotten bud.

Top cola showing cloudy trichomes but some lower branches even still have white pistels. I think 1-2 weeks more. monitoring as we speak. Might have been the last time I fed her so I gave a little extra. She is starting the get really sticky and smelly. Weather is getting better again so thats a good thing.

Weather was on and off last week. plant is starting to get really sticky. Very lemony smell to it. Still no bugs. Found 2 small patches of budrot which i cut off. Started defoliating day by day. limited feeding at this moment because the weather next week is going to be shit. dont want to have to cut her down still in full feed. I am hoping to stretch another week or 2 atleast, but i don't think it will be possible. Am contemplating of moving her inside for the last 2-3 weeks and just use a 400w construction lamp I still have laying around. edit: the construction light is halogen and seems like a bad idea when looking it up. I also got a new guest over that eats those creepy crawlies who otherwise hurt my plant. Trying to keep him in the garden with some bits of catfood (not too much so he still wants those snails and such) EDIT: i moved the plant inside because the weather looks absolutely shit for the next 2 weeks and she isn't done yet. I made a ghetto setup with 4x36w FL light and some mylar I had laying around. IMO the plant gets a fair share of light this way and the temps + humidity is way better. Hope to keep her like this for another 2 weeks. So yeh. Growdiaries needs a hybrid light solution for chumps like me :')

Week 15. Harvest

Happy Harvest Day!

grow: for the abuse I put this plant through this plant was an absolute trooper. I fucked up the main root during transplant (hehe) from sprouting ground to final medium but with some love care and patience it came back to live. Eventually growing into a nice and pretty plant. The smell during flower was very noticeable. This is not stealth proof but no issue for a garden 20x20m. The plant has plenty resistance just dont start as late as me and I bet there would be nearly 0 mold issues. smoke: (I vape the flower in a pax 3) Tastes as indicated. At the beginning of harvest it was sharp now it is more rounded. Smoke harshness has also lowered very much after 2 weeks of curing. In the beginning I would get a bit of a raspy throat but now its all good. effect: light on your feet. uplifted. content. transitioning into a long lasting relaxed feeling. I like to combine it with the creamatinc in the evening. The creamatic is a bit more sedated/relaxed feeling. daysmoke: yes nighttimesmoke: also yes but dont expect it to put you to bed or make you a couchpotato.

I have not been able to update this diary because I was a lazy bum and very busy with private matters. But anyway. I moved the plant inside because I was having mold issues and the weather was just awful. whole week of nothing but 90% + humidity and rain. I made a ghetto setup with 4x 36w fluorescent lights and some mylar. I figured one more week and this will be good so no need for ventilation. WRONG I had a major mold outbreak in just 2 days. Had to cut a big chunk of my main cola. FML. still saved most of it so all good. Anyway, after adding ventilation I got it going for another week then I said fuck it and chopped her down. Dried her with root and all this time with the fan blowing on it trying to keep humidity under 60%. Left her for a little over week until twigs started snapping. Cut her all up. and cured her in pots with hygrometers and boveda 62% humi packs. I got about 30g dried out of it and the smell is very nice. Bonus tiny ball of resin So again some lessons were learned and I would like to be able to double the harvest next year.

@Germano,I checked yours, they look really great! im not sure my nutes are organic though. they have a bio line, maybe ill check those next time. Im now doing 1ml/1 might go higher if spots dont grow bigger on the tips.

@DILLIGAF, hi man, I'll definitely will get me some calmag tonight for her. I'll look into silica as well. Thx! The damage on the bottom leaves is my doing. I damaged her roots early on causing the weird growth. I spray once a week with canna cure and give them a garlic concentrate with the feeding to keep the bad guys away. I will however look into the DE. Never heard of it before. Might be a good alternative to the canna cure

@Kenethica, ah, dont do it by feeling, do it by feeeeeling lol, sorry man i'm in a good mood, forgot to link you about this : usually i'll suggest that folks use the lifting pot method : use this method to never overwater again ! www.youtube.com/watch cannazym is decent, i would even say it's their best product

@CRiSPrGrow, hi thx for the info. I will look into it tonight. I messed up it's roots as a seedling and stunted it indeed but it seems to have recovered a bit. Might look into that enzyme thing as well. Saw canna has it. As for the wet dry cycle currently I'm doing it by feeling the upper inches of the substrate then watering when needed. Often less than a litre. Has been 4 days since last watering because substrate stayed wet.

hey man... the soil looks really dry and the plant looks like that because the roots are unevenly refreshened with water.. go ahead and add some root growers and beneficial microbes. it really helps! good luck.
Kenethica
Kenethicacommented6 years ago
@MaryJaneUSA, Hi, yeh top cm is dry because of direct sunlight but i poke a finger in there every day and feel the weight to check the actual wetness. You are however correct with the uneven distribution of water. I corrected this since today. gonna add some more things to the water as soon as they arrive.
