i was away from week 4 - 6, they have been only watered 3 times and sprayed couple of times, was also first time leaving them outside thru the night and strong winds.
Some more aggressive LST and first serious defoliation, they needed a week to really start growing again, then they exploded,
I live in Canary Islands which has amazing weather conditions - 350 sunny days per year - there was just 1 cloudy days since i started growing, no rain. I mist the plants every morning and evening. I germinated seeds on 3rd of May. As growing here is legal i am trying to be stealthy on my small balcony, and keep the plants low in heights. i am getting direct sunlight from noon to 7pm.
I am experimenting with low-stress training maybe in a bit more extreme way, its my first grow ever so i am just learning and go by the instinct. I decided to do so also because of the high winds we have here during the summers and with this shape, they are very resistant to wind, also i think the stems got really strong due to the constant movement because of the wind.
I am planning to control the feeding better after they go further into flower cycle - especially water i am guessing is not the right Ph, and changing to flowering fertiliser. I feed my plants 1x per week with both solutions, i need to water every second day, might also be because of the smart pots and constant wind.
I live 50m from the ocean with waves crashing on the beach, there is quite some humidity in the night, and i am worried about salt when the flowering starts. Should i be worried about it, what can i do?
The humidity is out of your control and their is nothing you can do outdoor to control the environmental factors unless you have a greenhouse with a ventilation system. With frequent watering and a good runoff you shouldn't have any issues with salts. I would bring the plants inside whenever you have rain that is expected. Only thing I would recommend is to defoliate to make sure you do not get bud rot and try growing strains that are mold resistant. I wish I had a problem like yours ;)
MONDAY: First week of flowering nutrients:
TUESDAY: Defoliated
THURSDAY: starting to feed with 2ml Top Bloom + 1ml Top Candy
Big One 1L sprayed + 2L water with Top Bloom
Plant Three - accidentally broke the top of the main stem while doing LST - be careful, don't do it when in a hurry!
It got bush again after less than a week, i think i am still waiting for the stretch, hope not too much.
Looks like the stretch is finally here, quite a lot of pistils but not yet actual buds.
This week i repeat Big one solution adding it thru watering, 10 days after i sprayed it. i also added Top bud to the mix.
The part of the plant where i broke by accident the top is experiencing wild growth in strength of a couple of branches bellow, they went from tiny and soft, to thick and not that flexible anymore in less than a week.
I have a hard time believing that those 4 are the same strain, or is there a chance with hybrids that genetics can defer? You can see it in the group pictures that bottom left plant looks much deferent, leaves are more Sativa like, also the color itself is a darker green, is the plant with broken-off top.
The stretch first started with this plant that had a bit of problems from the beginning, i was noticing some signs of deficiency but couldn't figure it out what exactly, leaves were a bit waxy and had the tips curled, also didn't bush out that much as others.
I used to water every 3-4 day till now, now i need to water every second day.
The stretch is getting noticeable now, still no real buds, but i am expecting to see a lot of development this week, they are full of white hairs.
Looks like the plant that i accidentally broke the top of the main stem off is the first to form buds, but it is the last to start the stretch. I am still thinking it is not the same strain, or a deferent ratio of genetics.
The plant that was struggling a bit thru the whole veg - had some waxy leaves always and they were banding on the edges, especially the lower small ones, is now leading the stretch race.
I notice a considerably higher demand for watering. I water them with 3L of water/ feed and after 2 days they are totally dry. I am feeding now 2 times per week.
On Sunday i defoliated and lolipopped, cutting off all the branches that fell behind with growth and not getting much light. I had to make more space for the airflow and light. Was not sure if it is the right time and how much to cut off, but everything looks great, they responded very well, strong growth right next day. They started to stretch, and one is way in front with flowering, not stretching that much. Finished the 30 day treatment with Big One fert. Hoping to see some nice development this week! Cheers!
Big transformation in 1 week, plants are covered with buds, they didnt get a lot of stretch, the buds are just stacked. I did a massive defoliation on Sunday, removing more or less all the fan leaves i could safetly cut off without damaging bud sites. A lot of light for all the buds.
Some problems start to occur. First all the leaves got their tips dry and they twist up, i thought its nute burn but supposedly its cal-mag deficiency, so i am adding it to my nutrients now. I also got attacked by caterpillars, i found a couple but recent bites looks like there is more. Search and destroy mode + BT.
Looks like buds are developing nicely, have some deficiency problems, supposedly lack of Cal Mag, i am adding it to the weekly schedule we see if it helps. PLant that used to be smallest, is now the biggest, it stretched the most, and is the last entering in flowering. The smell is getting noticable.
Looks like buds are forming nicely, getting volume slowly. I have problem with some deficiency, i started adding calmag last week, and lowered the nutes, no changes for now yet, all old leaves look horrible, new ones have the tip burned and twisted up. Starting to smell more, its noticable in the house, buds are really sticky if you touch it. I am guessing around 4 weeks till finish, the 4th plant probably later, is about 2 weeks behind, but is the biggest.
Buds are just stacked, interested to see if those are going to be all one big bud, it is easier to see it in the video i attached. Cheers!
So i focus on one plant now, because it will be the first to finish, others are behind 2-3 weeks i think. i found rot in a little bud, i think it got infected from some other plants or cactus i have, i removed them away as much as i can. How i noticed it: was one new very little sugar leaf i noticed is all brown and i wanted to pull it out, suprisingly it went out very easy and then i saw brown shit in the middle of the bud, just cut it off right away. Been checking them up every day and no new problems for now. i have been picking out remains of stems from the leaves i defoliated, seems like it could cause rot aswell.
I was away for 5 days, they got water one day in between, normal schedule every 2 days, strangely when i got back they were totally dry and showed sings of thirst and all the big leaves got very yellow. Not sure if this one is ready for harvest or no or i missed the harvest haha. Trics are mostly milky and some amber almost burnt maybe? Its confusing because the smell and sticky is almost gone, but it looks close to done.
Flush mode: one lady already flushed yesterday, 2 got their last feeding, and heading into flush when they get dry (2-3 days). One is a bit behind, going to feed for another week or two. Exciting times, lets see what we managed to grow for the first time! :)
Strain is very resistant to humidity, is what i was afraid the most, didnt hav emuch problems, i did had to cut off couple of buds due to bud rot, but nothing significant. harvest was biiiig, buds were unbelievably huge and very solid, at the end i got weed for the whole year. :) Sorry for delay of posting the results, better late than never, i had a lot of stuff to smoke and was too stoned to finish the diary. JOkes aside, i wanted to finish the diary and start a new one, i learned so much and i enjoy growing plants a lot!
