Going for a basic grow. Soil: Miracle Grow Potting Mix Water is from tap. Update Aug 7: Hello everyone, Going to try and keep the pictures up to date for you all. Will be taking a top and side view photo of the plant in the AM and PM. This is my first grow and want to stick to basics. Still debating if I want to get some nutes more geared towards cannabis or just stick to generic nutes from the local stores. I understand different nutes can bring different yields, but gardening has recently become a big part of my life. Experience is experience in my book, no such thing as good or bad experience. The updates will be short and to the point from here on out unless someone wants some info or has questions. May your gardens be forever fruitful. V/r, Mr_Mary_Jane Update Aug 10 Day 6: Seedling is starting to get speckled leaves. Not sure if there is a deficiency. Going to monitor. Since PM of day 3 the top of leaves have been speckled. Is this a deficiency? Doing research now. I did mist a couple times, could it be some leaf burn?

Hey this is from misting your plant. I dont ever spray anything on mine because it can cause issues. Residue can build up on the leaves and the water droplets can magnify the light and burn the plant especially under led. It will continue to grow well at this point though. And as far as your nutrients I recommend getting some maxigro and maxibloom. They are great stand alone nutrients and a lot cheaper than most quality nutrients. Hope this helps!

Will be posting updates/pictures daily! Aug 12: First day of week 2! She's doing great minus some misting burn, nothing major and she's recovering nicely. Will slowly start some nutrients this week, at least I would like to but will wait until she is ready. Aug 14: This northern lights auto is really starting to look awesome. Haven't given any nutrients yet. Waiting for a little more growth. Tomorrow I will update with a height measurement! Aug 16: Topped Thanks for stopping by! Sept 11 Update: As you can see she was under watered. I was very confused because I thought I over watered at first. She is back on track. Because of this nutrients have been delayed, but will be given on her next feeding. Sept 14 Update: I am in need of some serious help. On the 9th and 10th she was really thirsty so I gave her water (ph 6.5). She bounced back on the 11th but since then she has been getting worse. This morning I watered with 1 ml cal-mag, .5 ml tiger bloom, and 1 ml big bloom all per 2 gallons of water and when I did water her I only gave her 1 gallon. The tacoing of the leaves was due to a fan blowing on them, the fan has been adjusted. I am stuck because it is out of my hands at this point, I think. I have another plant I started with her and she is doing fine. I have treating them the same. I have a diary for her as well. Hoping some advise will help me get her back on track. Thank you!

My plant is getting worse. I watered on the 10th and she bounced back on the 11th from being under-watered. She then started showing signs of clawing, burnt tips and edges, and tacoing. She was doing great until this week. I gave her minimal nutrients today. Update in comments.

You have a small plant in a large pot. Auto flower plants don't like too much fertilizer. You used Miracle Grow Soil it already contains fertilizer. It tends to be heavy in nitrogen because nitrogen is cheap and makes some plants grow fast. If you keep it watered the concentration of fertilizer is essentially diluted. As the soil dries the concentration of fertilizer increases. Since water flows downhill the higher concentrations of fertilizer from the miracle grow are now near the middle and lower portions of the pot. This is where your young root system is still growing. I would stop using all fertilizer because you have more than enough already in the potting mix than you need. I would stick to plain water for the time being. She may not need any fertilizer until she's about mid bloom. If you are having trouble with when to water your pots buy an electronic digital moisture meter it will tell you how much moisture is in your pots at different depths.(Don't tell anyone but I use one all the time). You can also try to get used to lifting your pots to get a feel for the weight when they are drier and then again after watering. I would concentrate on how the new growth is looking the lower leaves are going to get a bit ugly over the next few weeks but she will grow a few more while she's blooming. Hope this helps.👍

Hey I'm a tell you you weren't supposed to stop using grow nutrients even in flower. At week 4 of flower you where supposed to lower the amount say half of what you where using. Then the last 3 weeks of flower u stop with nitrogen. Your leaves need this to stay green till harvest. And deferent strains feed differently that's why only one is showing this sign. The American pie doesn't need that much nitrogen to keep her green.

Finishing off her last week of nutrients. Will begin flushing her for her chop day. Maybe another week and a half. She is starting to put on a stronger smell.

Nov 11: Flushing from now until she is chopped. Looking at the next 5 to 10 days to chop. Checking with loupe daily. She has given me problems throughout her grow, my fault though. She is putting some weight on now and started to smell stronger.

My northern lights auto is doing the exact same thing yours is. Lets just say we know why seedsman is giving away NL A. freebies 😅 seems like they bred it with a very finicky ruderalis strain.

I think your pot size is okay but I definitely would not use the miracle grow soil for future Cannabis grows. It’s formulated for outdoor annual plants with a very short grow season therefore lots of Nitrogen. You might want to consider all organic dry amendments if you’re looking for a slow time release type fertilizer. I’ve been using Gaia Green all purpose and bloom and it works great. Just water when almost dry with water PH’d to 6.5-6.8 and you’re good to grow! You top dress once maybe twice after mixing your initial batch of soil/medium and just water- it’s that simple. Big plant/buds from what i’ve grown so far and i’m never going back to the bottled nutes, all the best growing forward!

@Momgrowsthechronic, I agree about the miracle grow. It is all I had at the time. I will take a look into Gaia Green. Thank you for the tip.

You can lower the lights to increase grow rate I got a 1000 watt led closer and u see mine at 2 weeks i did mess up and had it 6 inch above plant in beginning think that's what caused funny colors
Mr_Mary_Jane
Mr_Mary_Janecommented6 years ago
@Kokotokes, I lowered mine to about 20 inches. I'm going slowly not to cause too much stress. Really wanna do this right and be smart about. No making huge environment changes. Looks like you caught it in time to recover!

Looking good and good luck on your grow! Might want to cut back on misting , when watering your plants the feeding is for the roots and spraying the leaves can cause some damage. Luckily it is possible to recover from.

Mr_Mary_Janecommented6 years ago
@TheLonerStoner, Thank for the info. Yeah, I was only misting some of the floor and side walls and some mist got on them. I like the look as long as she's healthy. Thankfully I kinda figured that's what it was early on.

Thanks @Wicked_Stix for the insight. I learned not to mist, even when it's just the floors and walls. I appreciate the recommendation on the nutrients too!
