Kind of lanky compared to the other two I'm growing, not as much side branching at the start of the week. The Blue dream is dominantly sativa and doesn't look as lanky as these two. Maybe they'll surprise me but if they stay smaller than the other two I don't expect much of them.
Small feed on day 15.
Noticed the meristem changing day 15, by day 17 have hairs and flowering has started. Very disappointed to be honest.
Showed first hairs day 16. Mildly disappointed with how skinny they looked when they started flowering. Lst'd day 20 to force light to reach the lower branches.
Switched to HPS bulb Day 21 so some pics might turn out more orange than others if my phone can't white balance right.
Gonna add some big bud in this week and next. Not sure how these nutrients will affect autos as I've heard they take less but seem to enjoy the regular veg nutes I gave them twice.
The one is stretching like mad, very nice shape however. Might actually be done on day 55-60 for that one. The shorter one is nice and green, coming along normally just not as stretchy or fast as the 7 gal.
Growing okay. Noticed some thrip nibble marks on my leaves. There were four thrips that I killed. The one is hairy, the other is just finished stretching. It's a little slower and I don't think the pot size had anything to do with it.
The plant in the 7 gallon pot has flowered nicely, nugs the size of golf balls starting to get covered in resin.
The plant in the 5-gallon has just started to catch up on flowers size about a week slower for that auto.
Watered with half strength nutes day 42, and watered down my leftovers and used it on day 44.
That was only the third time they got fed this whole grow
Gonna water the 7gal with just water now. Her "official" date is next Saturday, but i think it'll be 55 from flower, not from seed as is usually advertised for autos. The 5 gal will likely take another week over that. Likely both harvested by the end of the month.
end of week(day 54 night) edit: Added some nice macro shots with my nikon, look at the difference. slight bit of amber showing so techinally done! An auto that is techincally finished in 55 days! a wonderful northern lights that has fruity smell like a hemp plant, but with a sour tang to it! very impressed with how she grew. I really want to harvest on sunday(d56) but she has a lot of white hairs and although there is a touch of amber I think she'll plump up a bit if I leave her the whole week. There are spots I thought I had seeds but it was just flowers on flowers! Some foxtailing, but I'm gonna go ahead and say that was from last week when my dust cover raised temps to 30-31. Cleaned that, fixed some things d55 morning and temps are back to a healthy 25.
Gave her another half strength ferts d49. The measurements I give are per 5gallon pail of water, ends up about half strength.
Kinda boring smell, fruity like a hemp plant but she's filling out nicely.
right now my tents running a little warm during the day so I'm thinking of moving it to a better ventilated area.
Nope. Temps were a dirty dist cover on the carbon filter. Took it off and temps dropped two degrees. Time for a wash!
Day 56! One is done, one is very close. Gonna leave them til next weekend to get some amber on the one that's done and to let the other finish up.
The one that's done ended up finishing in 30* heat because of ventilation issues so you can notice some slight Foxtailing. the buds are NOT airy however, SO DENSE and flowers inside flowers (might be the foxtailing doing that). When it was hot in there the two NL smelled like feet. Now that the temps are cooler it's better; they were obviously losing terps to the heat.
Small thrip problem right now as well, with some other plants but I got some IPM going. Got some soil-mites to deal with the thrip larvae as they hatch and they also deal with soil gnats and hibernating spider mites so I'll have less flying annoyances after the mites start doing their job and start feeling at home. Went with Stratiolaelaps scimitus, mites that live in the soil to prevent more bugs from crawling on my plants and shitting in the bud and using IPM prevents having to use sprays like pesticides.
Healthy soil, healthy plants
Plants are doing great. I thought the 7gal would be more ready by now but you can see the difference in the macro shot from last week. Colours are changing a little as it's cold here and the room the tent is in gets down to 15-16c at night. The air is also dry af
This is great, cannabis loves low humidity and a good 10 degree difference in day/night temps in flowering.
Trichomes still cloudy and not as amber as I'd like
I like breaking out the nikon to check the trichomes every couple days. The look remarkably similar from seed which is awesome.
Nothing but water last week which doesn't really matter cuz it's in soil. Really wanted to harvest but my area wasn't ready. Likely Monday or Tuesday. Now that the one is done flowering she's starting to foxtail pretty bad the other should fatten up this week and be ready to chop next week.
the smell is a mix between tangy feet and wet dog but nice and sweet at the same time, very interesting.
D73, chopped the first on Monday, sitting in the drying tent at 59f and 59% humidity. Just perfect and right where I want it. Hope it doesn't take too long to dry because the others are all finishing up and I don't want to dry two different strains together. It mingles the flavours.
Started smaller than the others but finished first. There's always trade offs, but overall I'm happy with how thick this one ended up getting for being an auto and for tolerating a fair bit of abuse.
-1 star for smaller
-1 star for how the thrips seemed to like this one plant before I started ipm.
+1 star for being the fastest.
Will weigh and edit this in a week or so after I trim and dry weigh.
Trimmed up the first plant after 9 full days of drying. Ended up with 58 grams of good smokable product and 6 grams of Bud with dirt or perlite so I put them with the trim and stems to be made into butter for brownies.
From the second one I got 47 g of good bud, and I added the trimmings to the the same bag as the other in the freezer.
The room was filled with smells and my fingers smell like lemon and pepper, it's very nice.
This week went fast. It seemed like she didn't change much but she got some colours and a lot of Frost. Will harvest tomorrow and put in the tent with the other Northern lights to dry for the week.this one was a little slower than the other one and didn't look as fluffy, But it could be the lack of foxtails. This one's still just as big and looks even frostier.
Chopped day 78, which is 63? Days of flower. They both smell similar, kinda like sour milk or something.
