Time to start a new grow.
My previous 3 grows (my entire grow experience, of any sort of plant) consisted of 2 x 100% Indica strains and 1 x 50/50 mixed strain.
This time I am going to be growing a Sativa dominant strain: Cinderella 99 from Female Seeds.
I got these seeds when I won 5th place in the January Diary of the Month contest. I really wish I had a garden / more grow space, such that I could also try out the two other strains I received.
For now, I will try C'99.
Monday:
Seeds have been put in between to plates with paper towels on Monday.
Wednesday:
Both seeds have cracked open, still waiting for the root to show.
Thursday:
Both seeds showed root, and was put into dirt. One of the seeds were kinda weird, in that it had two roots growing out of the shell.
Friday:
First seedling has breached the soil, and with a little surprise. The double tab root growing out of one of the seeds, seem to have been a sort of twin situation. As two seedlings have popped out of the dirt.
I am not sure if I should kill one of them. Two plants in one pot seem like a bad idea, and I am not sure I can separate them without ending up killing both seedlings.
Saturday:
I removed the secondary seedling today.
I removed some of the dirt from the top, around the two stems. Then carefully extracted the second seedling. It came out with no problems.
Thursday:
Last night, both seedlings looked fine.
When I checked on them this morning, one of the seedlings were suddenly growing sideways.
Both plants are directly under the light, the fan is blowing toward the back of the grow room, while the seedling was growing against the wind.
Both plants given 4 dl water.
Saturday:
Both plants given 4dl water.
Thursday:
The left one is a bit smaller than the right. I have like to try and force it to stretch a little, so I've raised the lights over the left plant only.
Given 5dl of water to both plants.
Lights were changed from Secret Jardin blue T-LED 26watt to Meizhi 300W LED, with a power draw of 55watt with the vegetation switch on only.
Monday:
Plants were topped.
Tuesday:
The larger plant was given 5dl water.
Wednesday:
The smaller plant was given 5dl water.
Thursday:
Plants were transplanted into 7L pots. Plants were watered after the transplant.
Will be doing one more transplant, to a final pot size of 12L.
Wednesday:
Both plants given 3l water
Sunday:
Changed light from 300W Meizhi to 600W Meizhi.
I was using 150watt with the previous light with both switches on. I am now using 180watt with just the vege switch.
I plan to switch to light to 12/12 with the start of next week.
Monday:
Gave 4.5l water to both plants.
Friday;
Gave 4.5l water to both plants.
I added a little bit of nutrients for this week.
The last transplant didn't add much additional dirt, and as a consequence probably not a lot of nutrients are left over in the pot as a whole.
Wednesday:
Gave 4.5l water to both plants.
Sunday:
Gave 4.5l water to both plants.
The new growth is looking kinda light greenish, upped the nutrients.
I have only previously grown indicas. From my experience, the indicas doubled in size doing the flower stretch; a 30cm plant would end up at 60-65cm.
I am currently growing satives, and where I read the indicas double in size doing the stretch, I've read that sativas like to triple in size.
As such, I have chosen to flip the switch to 12/12 schedule at 25cm tall, hoping that I will end up with a plant around 70cm tall.
My grow space would allow it to grow to 90cm, before running into problems with the light getting to close.
Thursday:
Gave 4.5l water to both plants.
Took off a lot of lower growth that will never see any light.
Highest point is 55cm now. Grown 20cm since the start of the week.
The branch in the front right corner seems to be stunted, while the rest of the two plants are growing fast, the front right corner is going no where.
I have added my secret jardin light to the right side of the grow room, hoping to add some light. I've also started to move the branches that hide the corner branch from the top light, hoping to give is some more food.
Monday:
Gave both plants 4.5l water.
The front right corner is still stunted. I took a closer look at it today, and noticed that the branch looked a bit weird.
There is some sort of mutation going on, where it is growing in a way that look like two branches grown together.
Friday:
Gave both plants 4.5l water.
The lower leafs were hanging at this point, while everything above the scrog line was looking beautifully. I think I will need to water after 3 days, instead of 4 days now.
I can not give more than 4.5l water, because that is the amount for which I receive 10-15% run off. My previous grows of indica strains, required watering a lot less frequently.
The highest point at the start of the week was 55cm, at the end of the week the highest point is not 70cm.
Tuesday:
Gave 4.5l water to both plants
Thursday:
I will be going away for the weekend, so I have had to give them another helping of water today, before I leave tomorrow.
Tuesday:
Gave 4.5l water to both plants
I waited an extra day because they looked fine Monday, and the dirt moisture meter showed that it was still above "dry". On Tuesday they looked absolutely miserable, branches falling over and leaves drooping.
Friday:
Gave 4.5l water to both plants, no nutrients in this one.
The leaves all over the two plants show slightly burned tips, since it is happening on lower leaves as well as upper, I believe I can exclude light burn as the problem. Which leaves nutrient burn as the possible culprit, hence no nutrients this feeding.
I watered early, because I will be gone Saturday, and I don't think waiting an extra day is a good idea, based on the appearance of the plants Tuesday.
Tuesday:
Gave 5l water to both plants.
The situation with the burnt leaf tips seem to have gotten worse on the top of the plants. More specifically the two branches that are 70cm tall, one of these also show signs of light bleaching. So I have to take back what I said last week, the problem actually do appear to be light burn. I have raised the light 5 cm, and we will see what happens.
I do find some contradictory information in regard to the light bleaching, where some websites have said that buds that exhibit light bleaching lose their potency, while others say that the white buds are actually more potent. Not sure who to trust on this, but I don't want to rest of the plant to suffer just to get a few white buds on the top.
Sunday:
Gave 4.5l water to both plants..
I came home late Saturday, and fell asleep before I could water. Thought it would be fine to do it early the next day, but slept a bit longer than I meant to and found the two plants in bad shape. I am not used to watering this often, and I think it is throwing me off my game, 1 day mean a hell of a lot more to a plant only doing 4 days between waterings, than a plant that goes 8 days between watering.
Monday:
I put up support because the branches obviously wouldn't recover them self if I just let them be fallen over.
Thursday:
Gave both plants 4.5l water.
Haven't taken down the support net, not sure if I should. Last time I grow a plant this way that grew to 65 cm it had problems keeping up at the end, so I would probably just need to put it back later if I took it down.
The upper leaves, those in the center and getting the most light, are losing their color. Since the problem seem to be worse nearest the light, I am going to believe the light is still a bit to bright for the plant. So I raised the light a few cm more.
Because of the deformed double branch in the front right corner, that won't get any light from the light above, I put up the light at the bottom. It might be a bit to lose to some of the lower hanging buds, but I can't really put it anywhere else if I want some light to the deformed branch.
Monday:
Gave 4.5l water to both plants.
Friday:
Gave 4.5l water to both plants. No nutrients.
Think this might be the last week with nutrients.
Trichomes are cloudy with some amber.
Tuesday:
Gave 4.5l water to both plants.
Going to give them 36 hours of darkness Thursday to Friday, and then harvest Friday.
Not sure if the weight I am using is accurate. It appear to not always update when it should.
Plant 1:
300g wet weight
Plant 2:
230g wet weight
Plant 1 & 2 loose stuff
70g wet weight
160g trimmings
I am really bad at curing it seems.
After three days of dry hanging, I cut up the buds and put them into mason jars, with boveda packs.
All jars initially showed a humidity around 70%. However, the first night I was burping them I fell asleep, and they ended up drying for the night before I closed the jars in the morning.
Seems this was enough to fuck it up, as every jar was showing a humidity of 62% after that. (Forced to 62% by the boveda packs).
After 2 months of being in the jars, the smell is still lacking. It seems a bit random which buds have a nice smell, and which smells like hay.
Wet weight might not be entirely accurate. the scale appear to not always update when it should.
Dry weight is measured with a different scale, and should be accurate.
Plant 1:
300g wet weight
72g dry weight
Plant 2:
230g wet weight
60.8g dry weight
Plant 1 & 2 loose stuff
70g wet weight
19.9g dry weight.
160g trimmings. Saved in the freezer, going to make butter or something when I get up to it.
