Day 29. Freed her from tie downs. Hung the scrog net and now she's there. I'm seeing the precursor to pre-flowers if there's such a thing. New growth is getting dense, and leaf tips are hard to discern as such...they look like pistils at first glance. But I'm fairly certain that they'll be green.
Day 34. Week 5 coming to a close. Im not entirely happy with the large spacing ok the scrog net, so I ordered another with 1 inch squares. QB288 should be here Monday. The coming few weeks should be interesting... Im gonna have to put in some work to mount the quantum boards on each side of my COB, and get the second layer trellis in place. After that, I think my canopy penetration will improve greatly. I think then the light will reach the stuff that would otherwise become larfy butter material.
I also started paying attention to VPD this week...that meant, in practice, dropping RH from 75 to 55%. VPD is important! If you're reading this, check it out of your not familiar. The difference was noticeable.
Day 35. This wraps up week 5. Tangie's killin it. Supplemental light should arrive tomorrow, so I'm letting the canopy fill out.
@Avital, I don't think you could hurt then with this technique unless you're brutal or leave it in too long. But mine grew so much despite the ponytail that it would've come out anyway after 1.5 days.
It's really low stress. Try it out! :)
@Avital, thanks for checking out my diary and asking!
Ponytailing is a *very* temporary technique. There's more about it on AFN, but basically the idea is to tie the top couple of fans *and* apical meristem which in turn exposes the lower nodes.
You can't really leave the ponytail in tho...because the top growth will force it's way out of the tie *or* you'll wind up inadvertently topping. Don't get scared of it tho. It really is less stress than bending and tying down. You just have to re-tie it daily until your satisfied with the under-nodes' growth.
Pruning fans would have a similar effect (exposure downstairs), but I'm not ready to prune.
@Fast_Buds, happy to oblige! The first Gorilla Glue was a complete dud, but the second took. Fingers crossed that it looks as nice as the Tangie'matic!
