Seedling is doing well, came straight up out of the soil and took off growing like a champ. Was ready for a transplant pretty shortly after this pic. Under cfl on 18/6 light schedule.

Transplanted into 3 gallon pot with Bushdoctor Coco Loco. Soil is pretty hot as is so no feeding yet. Moved out of veg tent and into permanent home under DIY build. Dual QB 288. Still seems very happy and healthy. Lightly watering, no run off.

No new pic this week, got busy with the rest of the grow. Still looking great really putting on the size very quickly. I really like working with Autos. They just grow up so fast don't they. Excited to see this strain towards the end!

She was starting to take off vertically so she got her first LST this week. Growing very quickly had to LST again 2 days later. Started seeing pistols last week, Noticed early this week she is really starting to flower. Expecting her to start stretching soon. Very healthy plant, great genetics from Seedsman.

Getting some good bud formation this week. She didn't ever really seem to stretch much, maybe still to come idk. But she has super fat and jagged leaves! I love the pictures of this strain in catalog. I can't wait to see it for myself! Still top dressing with Happy Frog and just giving water and compost tea.

She got another top dressing early on this week. Changed ratio up to 50/50 all purpose/fruit and flower. Getting into week 3-4 of flower and really starting to get some good bud formation. I do have to say I didn't get near as much stretch from this strain as I was expecting. Last autos I grew it seemed as if the stretch was never going to stop. With this one I feel like I'm still waiting for it to start. I did LST only on this one, mostly to bend her into a good spot around bigger twins in tent with her. My other 2 plants in tent are about done so the Gelato will be getting some new roomies soon. Fed with a compost tea around the middle of the week just as a little pick me up. Other than that just organic dry amendments and water ph'd to 6.5-6.8.

This week was good. She's still just growing strong and healthy. She has some big fat indica looking leaves. Buds are starting to plump up and get dense. She developed a very sweet smell. I haven't quiet put my finger on it yet, it's different sweet than my other harvest. Starting to get glue level sticky. Top dressed this week with 1 tbs All purpose and 5 tbs fruit and flower. Brewed up a compost tea from my compost bin with couple tbs of molasses for a pick me up.

Update for 10/11 the plant really just looks healthy. I wish I had caught the stretch sooner so she would be more uniform. But overall she's growing right and looks really good. Just top dressing with Happy Frog Fertilizers and ph'd water from 6.5-6.8. In Coco Loco and getting compost tea about once a week or so.

Update for 10/19/19. Everything is still looking to be going just fine. Plant is healthy and happy. Hairs are beginning to turn red and buds are getting dense and fat. I think I'm going to top dress one more time. Based on where her pistols are at right now I think I've got enough time to feed once more and deplete it before she finishes up. I did notice some burnt tips after last feeding, I only waited 2 weeks between feedings as I should have waited 3-5. When top dressing it takes a couple times watering to notice any difference after. I also had a gnat problem return. Had this issue couple months ago. Ended up running a shop vac through the tent and sucking them up. I even sucked up the very top layer of soil hoping to get any eggs or gnats hiding. Been putting sticky traps down ever since and it had seemed to keep them at Bay. But I opened tent last night and it looks like they are making an attempt at a come back. Had to move some stuff around due to a problem in another tent so I ended up moving a couple photo periods in the tent with it. Had to switch lights back to 12/12 to get them flowering.

Update for 2 weeks. Been pretty busy lately and missed last week's update. Everything got moved around a little bit. Picked up a bigger 4x4 that is just waiting on the light. After it's finished this tent will run autos only. Nearing the end of growth for the Gelato O.G. I really just can't say enough about how easy it has been to manage. It has grown with ease and vigour since day one of seedling. The buds are really starting to plump and garden up hairs are beginning to turn red and curl in. It has developed a very sweet aroma and looks as if it was dusted with sugar. So far just from the perspective of growing it I would recommend it for ease. Will do a full smoke report after drying/curing. Not getting anymore top dressing, just ph'd water from 6.5-6.8 to flush it for harvest. This will be my first time doing a Gelato strain, but definitely not the last. Temps in new room are steady around 75, humidity is around 40%. As for now the gnat problem has been knocked down. The weather outside has been cold so I'm sure that helped.

Ending of week 12 with the Gelato O.G. from Seedsmen and she got her last drink of water on Thursday. Gonna give her another couple days to dry out and stick her in the dark. This plant was a learning experience with nutrients and dialing in a solid feeding schedule. I top dressed a bit to soon between feedings and saw some toxicity damage. Nothing to serious but did get some. I had a couple of issues with equipment and environment that caused me to have to pull her out during random hours. Didn't see any real problems from it but it definitely isn't recommended. Light schedule got changed couple times bc of it having to use this tent for my seedlings. So I don't really feel comfortable giving a full report on how things went and how I feel about growing this particular strain. I will definitely be doing another run without all the issues and give a better more detailed breakdown. It seemed pretty hardy, grew without stalling, germinated straight into soil, came up and took off. I do have to say she has been frosty ever since she started to flower but this last couple weeks she really put on some sugar. Frosty AF! Smells super sweet I'm anxious to give her a smoke test.

Night time smoke. Buds aren't just real dense but not airy either. This plant grew short well away from the light, around 24-30" above. Lights were also dimmed about halfway down. However I still got some fox tailing. Overall everything went ok.

The Gelato side of this stayed true to it's name in giving me a very short plant indoors. Growing came pretty easy however I feel like I missed something in getting the most out of the grow. Dry weight was only 33 grams. I got some discoloration in the leaves early on. I believe from a toxicity in my original compost blend I used in my tea. Part of my troubles with this grow came down to environment. I had several issues with temp and humidity Wich in the end forced me to have to build a new grow room before I could finish the harvest. So I ended up having to move this plant more than once resulting in stress and dramatic changes in environment. Everything is dialed in now but I feel it was to late to make a positive change in plant growth. Buds had a very sweet aroma much like a desert. Smoked very easy even only partly cured. I'm sure fully cured it will be a good smoke. So everything said mistakes, environment and all I'd say Gelato O.G. was pretty easy to grow. Picky about temps, rh and nutrients. One should pay attention and understand what the plant is asking for. I don't feel 100% confident in giving a full review as I did encounter several set backs. I would like to try again at a later date to give a better more confident opinion.

@Fruitgrower, I don't know about purple but I thought it definitely had some color but I didn't see any.

Looks really good! I Personally think by the time the plant is done stretching, which it looks like its forming buds and slowing the stretch) To go ahead and do a ratio of 75% flower and 25% all purpose Fert. the last time I amend with 50/50 is just before the plant takes off for the stretching phase. try that next time and see how you like it!

@TXCanna, Nice! that sounds about right
TXCanna
TXCannacommented5 years ago
@NattyMeds, this plants stretch was so minimal I hardly noticed it. I went a little more than 50/50 it was 4 tbs of fruit and flower and 2 tbs all purpose. Next feeding probably just give it 1 tbs all purpose and 5 tbs fruit and flower. Bag calls for 2 tbs per gallon pot size. My pots are 3 gallon.
