CanuckVetGrwr Missed the first 2 week posts as I was busy with home renos, being a dad, and other life obstacles but i was able to start the process of the indoor season yay! I germinate two different strains one is northern lights, and the other is white widow. Both sprouted with 3 days, they were then transferred to jiffy pot into a humidity dome for the first week then moved into soil cups with seedling soil/perlite mix. 2nd week they grew fine, and seem healthy as seen in the pictures label week 2. 3rd week continues to grow but W W has some slight tip burn that maybe due to me switching out the lights and a little to close but seems to be fine now. Still not ready to be transplanted to 1 gal homes yet maybe weekn4. They will be grown in a 2x4 tent under 2x300w led lights no vegetaion or floweing options here. I may replace them with my new 180w electric sky later on but I'll see how they do under the 2x300w first. My medium is canna professional plus which I've never used before will I need to add fertilizer to this like worm castings? Or will it be fine with on it's own and perlite? I just want to.make sure they are not out into hot medium. So thanks to anyone putting in some advice. Here's to the indoor season! Yay!

Must Provide Nutrients from the Beginning – Coco coir is an inert growing medium with no inherent nutritional value, so growers must provide nutrients and manage pH throughout the grow. Cannabis plants grown in coco coir tends to need more calcium compared to other growing mediums, so usually a standard “Cal-Mag” supplement is needed to make sure plants get all the calcium they need. These contain calcium as well as magnesium (which is needed for your plant to be able to use the calcium properly). So I would start at 1/8 strength and work to 1/3 max of manufacturer recommendation.

Canna Terra is mostly a peat based organic soil mix peat is naturally acidic they add lime to correct the ph it also contains a starter charge of nutrients good for about one weeks of the seedlings life. Canna recommends using their Terra line of nutrients along with their feeding chart. Since not everyone counts their weeks the same way and you are starting/ending week 3? you should be able to start with 1/4 strength nutrients to play it safe. If they respond well after a few feedings by showing some nice healthy growth I would slowly increase the nutrients. The biggest issue with seedlings and young plants is keeping the soil too wet so allow them to dry a bit before they are watered/fed again. If re-potting them in the future i would recommend adding some extra perlite to the mix to allow for better drainage. If you would like to amend the soil with earthworm castings to add some beneficial microbes to your soil etc that's fine but not needed if your going to be using additional liquid fertilizers to feed them. Some grower will use a so called super soil to keep things on the organic side if that's what your looking for.Hope this helps👍

There is nothing but lime to make a good ph fluctuation issue occurs 👍 so I really discourage you to go that way except if you want to have a lot of problems because lime is temporary flowing the ph but the effect is lasting very fast : buy a liquid or a dry ph down product. Your soil is a good soil but not a super soil so you'll need to feed even if it's only the half of the recommended dosages BUT during at least 2 weeks or 3 your plants will be fine with only water as the medium will bring fresh nutrients ( later you will have to bring more by feeding )

CanuckVetGrwr The WW and NL were transplanted on day 24 which was 24 Sept 19. Their new homes are 1 gal pots with a soiless recipe which is the following- 2 parts canna professional plus 2 parts worm castings 1.5 parts perlite 1/4 bone meal from Big Bud Juice an all natural Canadian company which I'll be using their liquid feed also all natural. Day 24- 24 Sept 19 transplanting has taken place into 1 gal pots. Day 26- 26 Sept 19 they seem to be responding well to their new homes. Day 29- 29 Sept 19 you can see they have recovered very well, and loving their new homes!! These are photos so I'll be doing some LST, and topping this grow to improve my experience on these techniques as I would like to try mainline later in other growd. I'm happy with where they are at this stage! Thanks for stopping, and here's to the indoor grow season.

CanuckVetGrwr Overall the last week has been very good to White widow, and Northern lights they grown alot both in height, and width. You can see two sets of pictures with a tape measure. I took pictures pre feeding after they woke up, and post feeding exactly 48hrs after to show what a good nutrient feeding can do to you little plants to help them along. I also did it for my own curious mind to note it for future grows😊 They are drinking about a cup 250ml of water every other day. All temps, humidity, air circulation is on point, and drain off the PH sits at around 6.4 so happy with that. Next feeding I'll introduce some Cal Mag as some have said they need it due to the medium I'm.using so I'll start at the quarter strength and monitor them after to see how they respond. On day 32 and day 34 there was over an 1.3" growth both in height and width. Very cool to see. I did top them and begin LST on day 36 as they are ready to start being and forming to get the most outta the space in the tent. So in the end all is well with the plants and they like their new companion a bonsai tree as they love the same environment! Happy growing everyone!

Sorry I meant 1/4 strength to 1/2. The other was for autos.

@DankGardener, Ok awesome. I had no idea about them needing the Cal. I shall add it to their feeding ritual each week. At 1/4 strength and pay attention to seeing if they need more. Will I need to do this tell the end I.e harvest time? Or just during vegetation period? Thanks again!

@Philindicus, Thanks alot. Maybe what I meant was can I make my own soil recipe I.e 2 parts canna, 2 parts worm castings and 1 part perlite. Right now they are just in a basic seedling soil with some extra perlite for drainage. I give them a slight drink every couple days but I make sure the medium of course is dry.

Really nice work with the transplanting mate 👍 It looks like they are loving their new homes and once they get established I'm confident we will see a growth explosion 🤗 Good luck my friend, let's see what you can do 👊 All the best ✌️ Mark..

@DinafemSeeds, Thanks very much mark! They have exploded big time after the transplant, and a good natural feeding. The pictures show how much they grew in just 48hrs. Already loving your seeds! Cannot wait to keep trying new ones as time goes on! Thanks for the support on my grow and will continue to update the diary! Cheers from a Canadian grower!
