Hi there! My mission for this grow is to check if my coastal climate will allow me to grow outdoors through winter. If not, I'll be testing if I can squeeze in a short grow with a small harvest while I can before next outdoor season. This is my first year growing, all outdoors. I have had a few successful harvests already and now want to improve my techniques. I grow all my plants from seed, or clones from plant started by seed. I grow a little different using the Kratky method for a more passive grow. I only add water when necessary or when adding nutrients. This week the first seedling popped out of three seeds planted. Germination from rockwool cubes. All three seeds are Durban Poison (regular).

How about water temp as hydro outdoor? No air pump? As you are outdoor, take care not to spread pollen all over your city, many outdoor grows may get pollinized by you.

@Psilocubensis, Yeah, the white piping is actually what I built for my first hydro grow ever. I wanted to make a veggie rack with lettuce, it was my attempt at an NFT system, but it didn't quite turn out that way. It's just a recirculating hydro system powered by a pond pump and gravity. Had too many issues with that system and later stumbled on the kratky method. After growing veggies this way successfully, I wanted to try growing cannabis that way. I'm actually pretty new to consuming and growing it. Actually one of the reasons I love the kratky method is to observe the root growth, it's pretty neat to see. I'll make a point to post some pics off the roots. And another reason is because kratky is almost just like growing in soil, except you don't even have to water it. Just kind of set up the container and forget about it for a few months. One of the benefits of keeping diaries like this is it forces me to check my plants every week. Otherwise I might forget to. I do find that sticking to a nutrient schedule gets much better growth too.

@KratkyGrow, Just now I realized it's kratky! (I always read "krakty", first time i write down and realize that) If it hadn't reached yourself it won't reach neighbors... Sure i'll follow, i love to see people "petting" cannabis different from theses who only grows to chop. How about those plants on white tube? They are kratky too? Tell me more about your experiences on krakty... I wish I could grow hydro, I just ordered everything to start it, but now I realize how I like soil ... But still, hydro is for me the most beautiful process of root grow...

@Psilocubensis, I don't generally measure the water temp. I have a really temperate climate so I'm not too worried about it going to low or high. Mostly though I'm just testing in the cooler weather with less sun how stuff will grow. I use the kratky method of hydroponics. Hasn't really caught on for growing cannabis, but it has a lot of benefit. Sort of set it and forget it. No power requirements or anything, technically it's got to be the most efficient way to grow. But I don't expect I'll ever get the same kind of yield as someone who puts more control in. Such as air stone or even light control, and water temp control. My ultimate goal though, is to grow top quality bud with this kratky method, feel free to follow along in my quest. These males are set up in an atrium area (only the top is open, walls on all sides, and I just installed some clear roof paneling) so there shouldn't be too much potential for pollen spread. I admit though I haven't given much thought to pollinating others plants, but using this separation I have previously grown females and males and not had an issue with my females getting pollinated, so I hope I'm not spreading it to any unknown fellow neighbor growers.

Hey, so I just wanna confirm that these males grew from ILGM seeds sold as feminized? I know they don’t sell “regular” seeds anymore, just feminized.. just not sure if they may have sold regular seeds in the past Thanks!
