Pretty neat site! Well, this is my first grow in an actual tent. Before, I've grown and harvested out of an oddly shaped closet with poor yields due to poor ventilation and over zealous feeding (I'm still a bit green.. pun intended! Lol). I have here 3 auto fems. Two are fast buds; GSC and WCOG, and Dr. Krppling's bubba'yum. They're in a 4x4 gorilla grow tent lite, 5 galllon air pots with fox farm ocean forest mixed in with worm castings, dolomite lime and perlite. I've also got a 6inch exhaust fan/carbon filter and a humidifier going. I'm loving the concept of this site and am excited to get input/advice from you guys!
UPDATE 10/26/2017 - Day 17 Need some opinions!
I've watered the the plants every 4 days consistently, with distilled water pH'ed to 6.7-6.8. RH 41-62%, and temps at 66-75 degrees Fahrenheit. The WCOG seems to show a lighter green color on one of its leaves, after googling it.. TMV, anybody agree or think of any other possibilites? Also GSC is showing some slight discoloration.. The bubba'yum seems to be the only normal one.
Soil is F.F.O.F. mixed with worm castings, dolomite lime, and perlite. Also the light was initially 28 inches and later I raised the light to 30 inches. I've lowered it back down to 28 inches.
I've watered the ladies 3 times already, every 3-4 days with water pH'ed to 6.7-6.8. So far they're doing fine, minus the fact that I almost lost the GSC girl. I noticed that the edges of all the leaves had a slight curling upwards to try to shade parts of their own leaves; I've raised the P600 up from 28 inches up to 30inches. They're doing much better. I've also added a clip on fan and have been trying to keep my Rhumidity consistently at around 40-60%. Any ideas on a humidifier that is automated? And has a bigger reservoir? I work out of town and have to leave them alone for 3 days out if the week. Currently contemplating a SensorPush hydrometer meter with a WiFi Gateway to monitor the environment while I'm gone. My lady gets annoyed when I call to not just say I love her.. but to ask her to check what the RH and Temps are 😹🙄😰 lol
Started supplementing the girls with 1.25ml of CaMg plus in distilled water pH'ed to 6.55, Recently bought a pH meter from Apera Imatruments for accuracy. As I stated before, I thought maybe the WCOG had a case of TMV. I'm sure I'm just being a hypochondriac; she seems to just be needing a bit of the supplement. I started them with a quarter of the recommended amount and plan on increasing it by a quarter every other watering. Other than that, they've been growing! 🎃
So, two of three plants are drooping after I had given them a little more volume of feeding about 4 days ago. I checked their soil wetness with my finger and it was dry, so today; I fed them water pH'ed to 6.51 with 3ml of CaMg and I have now introduced nutes to the solution, 1.25ml of FF Tiger Bloom all per gallon of distilled water. I fed them a meager 300ml just to start them back to regular watering schedule and hopefully they'll recover.. any thoughts?? Advice, opinions?
Happy growing fellow cultivators! ✌️
So I'm at week 5, 1st "official" week of flowering. All ladies have been fed with distilled water with CaMg(4ml/gallon) pH'ed to 6.63. I've finally have gotten the temps and humidity controlled to more than desirable levels. Before, the Platinum P600 at full capacity, had the grow tent up to 81-84 degrees and humidity would fluctuate from 38-41%.. no bueno. The fix? Portable A/C. Now my temps max out at 77, with the low at 71. The RH consistently at 50-55%. With RH reaching 58% with lights off. I highly recommend a portable unit if you have temp problems, instead of running the house A/C 24/7.
The only problematic girl I'm having is the GSC. She was delayed from seedling and is still delayed a bit but she's shooting out pistils, and getting over a small nute burn. I'll have to tread lightly with her. WCOG stretched out considerably, and doesn't have the branching I'd like, Im assuming pheno variance is causing her to grow like she is.. aside from possibly not having enough light for herself. I'm saving up cash to purchase an additional P600..soon though.
And lastly, bubba'yum is growing nicely, she's smelling a bit like pink bubble gum and diesel.
Cheers fellow cultivators ✌️
Week 6, things are going well. Winter weather is finally hitting us, and dry air is becoming an issue. Having trouble with controlling the RH. But alas, the girls will be alright I've fed all plants a gallon of distilled H20 pH'ed to 6.50, with 4ml of Ca/Mg and 1ml of FF Tiger Bloom to avoid nute burn. Last time I had fed with 1.25ml and that seemed to be too much. Happy 🦃 day fellow cultivators! ✌️
Alright, so this week has been a bit slow... with the thanksgiving time off I've been looking at all the girls and having Weinstein-type thoughts.. I know, too soon, and too dark lol but all jokes aside, the girls have been getting denser, I've fed them with some nutes earlier this week and today (Sunday) I only fed them pH'ed (6.60) distilled water with 5ml of CaMg as to not nute burn them.. I've got some predictions as to when to chop them down. I'm anxiously awaiting to give you fellows a smoke report, been abstaining from the herb until I can smoke my own. Have a good week fellow cultivators! 🙌✌️
Alright, so it's getting closer and closer to harvest time for at least two of the girls. Bubba'yum and WCOG. GSC is definitely going to be last. Unfortunately, I won't be harvesting as much as I had hoped for. Undoubtedly the cause is lack of light. With only a p600 by Platinum LED, the grow space isn't at optimal level. Soon though, I hope to have an additional light to really take advantage and get the most of the girls (future ones). Well this week I've fed with only pH'ed water (6.5) with 5ml of CaMg. I'm not trying to stress them out with a lot of nutes and cause burn and lock out blah blah THIS close to harvest.. anyways, have a great week fellow cultivators! ✌️🙌
Alright, so about 3 days ago I fed all the plants distilled water pH'ed to 6.45 and 5ml of CalMg. I was going to commence flushing bubba'yum and WCOG, but after inspecting WCOG, I deemed her not ready.. she still has a lot of new pistils sprouting and not many are brown.. as for bubba'yum, she has about 40% brown pistils. I fed her 3ml of distilled water pH'ed to 6.4 with 10ml of Clearex by Botanicare, she'll be chopped on Friday after filming for the December video contest 😜 And finally GSC, she's coming along nicely after babying her for sometime now she's looking hungrier and getting fatter. Fed GSC and WCOG a liter of pH'ed distilled water with 5ml of CaMg and 4.25ml of TigerBloom. The time for harvest is getting near and I'm salivating at the thought of finally getting to smoke, and this harvest looks to be the best I've ever grown, yet! 🙌 Anyways, holler at me if you have any input! I definitely enjoy speaking to you fellow cultivators out there! Peace ✌️ brothers and sisters! Have great week! 👐🙌
Alright ladies and gents, finished shooting the last scenes for my Christmas video contest 😅 I had a couple of divas on set, and you'll see who I'm talking about.. lol
Alright; all three girls are getting ready for chop, it has been a lovely time and I've been patient, but I also wanted to make sure that I'm harvesting at the correct time. I purchased a jewel loupe off of Amazon and to my surprise all three girls had amber trichromes mixed with milky trichs. I went ahead and fed lightly and will be harvesting by day 75. I'll update with pictures of the trimmed flower before hanging. Blessing fellow cultivators! 🙌✌️
Edit:12-18-2017
I've finally uploaded my contest video, I really hope to win, and hope you all enjoy! 😸
Let's see... I messed up by keeping the light too close to the plant, possibly messed up by not germinating the seed before sticking in the root cube.. idk, oh and also not having enough light. Will be making adjustments for the next run. I'll be updating this entry in 2 weeks
EDIT:
1/14/2018
She was easy to grow, yielded me a small amount of dense nugs.
I'll be updating this entry in 2 weeks, bubba'yum was harvested on 12/22/2017 day 75. Like I stated earlier, some mistakes were made. She's one of the smallest I've ever grown but she's also the densest. 12/25/2017
EDIT:
1/14/2018
The two weeks are up, managed to harvest some dense nugs. Not as much as I wanted though. The smoke is gentle and the high doesn't cause much of a couch lock feeling. Definitely a nice wake/bake strain or evening strain. Won't be growing again though. I definitely want something with more branching and more stable genetics.
Smoke report will be updated in two weeks.
EDIT:
1/14/2018
Alright, final report on the growth. I definitely would like to grow more of this strain in he future. The particular scent on this strain was what is considered to be "Dank" 😂 strong piney/diesel smell. If only more branching and taller plant would be nice. A possible sign that genetics on this strain aren't the strongest or stable. Idk quality harvest though!
Alright, just like Bubba'yum, WCOG was harvested on day 75. This one in particular grew just one main stem. Possibly due to not germinating the seed, the light being too close yatta yatta yatta.. I'll be updating this in 2 weeks.
EDIT:
1/14/2018
So this has been my smallest yielding plant. But her buds are top quality bud size and density. The smoke is pine/wood undertone flavored and hits hard with strong couchlock if too much is smoked. Otherwise it's a nice evening smoke.
Alright; I harvested WCOG and Bubba'yum on day 75, I will be updating with the harvest report in about two weeks. I was going to harvest GSC but she seemed like she had another week or two left to go. Lessons I've learned; don't keep the light too close to plants, and have enough light for all the plants in the 4x4 tent.
Alas, you live and you learn
Alright, slow week, I've been flushing the GSC for about two weeks. I'm glad I didn't cut her down about 2 weeks ago, she's definitely gotten fatter and more resinous. She'll be trimmed and hung up to dry on Thursday! 👏
Well I didn't think she would make it, much less produce as much as she did. She ended up yielding the most out of the rest of the girls. Definitely could have fed more, she densed up towards the end and was pungent with a citrus tone. Her flowers ended up turning purple due to my temps dropping at night towards the end of her life.
As for the smoke;
This is a pretty good strain that had me relaxed and happy after smoking half a gram, after finishing the rest it had me really relaxed and sleepy.
Update: the cure went well for all strains. I used boveda packs in jars and burped.
Other than that, she's filled up nicely and even has some purple in her flowers.. could be environmental issues, it has gotten colder..
This is my kind company if I do say so myself. Most definitely some fat buds from these girls. I can't wait to see how they finish up in a couple of weeks. I'm excited to see how it all turns out. I send you my best wishes buddy. Cheers!
@DabCrab, I definitely have COB research on my mind, that's definitely the future in lighting. I think if i educate myself on building one and what exact specifications are optimal I'd save myself so much money. But first thing is first.. I have to get at least half your level at growing before I can venture into another hobby altogether lol Have a good one bro! I'll definitely follow and take pointers from ya! ✌️🙌
@EdsterGrows, That sounds pretty great actually. I've got 4 viparspectra 300 watt (136 actual watts) LED's that I think work pretty well for vegging. They aren't exactly good flowering lights but I think they work fairly well regardless. They can put out .5 to .75 grams per watt if you really push them so it's kinda decent. Right now I'm flowering under a custom built Cree COB LED I built from Rapid LED. It's a real show stopper. If you find you want to change things up I think COB's are the future. Though it sounds like you are killing it with the platinum LED's already so no need for that. I'll be patiently waiting to see the harvest report and hear how the smoke report is. Best wishes buddy. Cheers!
@DabCrab, I definitely share your same sentiment bro! I've been abstaining from purchasing herb from my usual street pharmacist so that I truly can enjoy the fruits of my labor. As for the company Platinum LED, they're really a stand up group of guys. 5 year warranty, upper-mid level/borderline high level LEDs and above exceptional customer service and warranty. If money were no issue I would have gone for the Black dog LED, but two of the P600 would still be 400 cheaper than their light I was wanting. I'm very happy with the LED, but another one would be perfect for my 4x4. Thanks again for stopping by bro! Smoke report is coming sooooon 😄
@JesusPapers, thank you fellow cultivator. It's my first real setup in which I can control the environment. So far so good. Any and all tips are welcomed. Thank you for stopping by! 👐
Thank you @Squirrel_Master, I checked out your monster harvest of 20oz. That is definitely a goal of mine! 🙏 After this grow, I'm looking at trying my hand at photos. Possibly from the guys out in Cali, Ocean Grown genetics.
Wow, that's a goal of mine too!! Must have confused my diary with another though. I just had a harvest of just over four ounces, which I thought was decent lol... 20oz though!
I've not seen much from Ocean Grown, I'll have to check them out.
@Fun_Growin, awesome man, lots of patience on your part! 👌
I wish I had enough space to have different tents going for flowering and vegging. Instead I looked up the manufacturers specs. And made some measurements of my tent/canopy space and figured 3 plants won't be as over zealous and I'd give the girls a chance to get as much light as they need without them fighting for it. The P600
Is rated to be equivalent to an 800 watt HPS, but only pulling 345w from the wall, it's a great light but I'm sure the hps equivalency is a bit of a reach.. which is why I'm trying only 3 this time around as opposed to 5 in a smaller space (dumb idea on my part). I'm confident that the set up will at LEAST yield me more than 6 ounces.
I've only grown autos, but eventually I'd like to grow some photos and try different techniques to get bigger yields. I'm digging the ocean grown genetics, but I'd like to get better before dropping 120 on 10 regular seeds lol
@EdsterGrows,
I have a 400w T5 veg
My first 4-5 weeks Flower are 380w HTG LED pulls like 315w at wall, at 4foot away,
Once the 4x4 is full and light dosent reach the floor
Put in my KIND 600w LED pulls like 380w at wall, I strap it to the roof of my 7 foot tent, and I try to train my plants not to get over 3 foot from the ground so I still have 3-4 foot for my light...
EVERY light is differant, and matching the canopy to the light is the trick as far as I can tell, like I mentioned I killed a few grows before I figured it out, then I abondend my DWC and went Soil, so I'm dialing that now but got my light under control finally..
LEDs are very focused light, as the pant gets bigger it can take more... but untill she is big and bushy mine get scared 👍🏻
@Fun_Growin, what kind of LEDs are you using? Definitely do a neem oil spray for the soil/grow medium and cayenne pepper/soap mix for foliage spray. I had zero problems with bugs.. but I sure as hell stunted or caused crazy stretching to my ladies because I didn't know how important air ventilation was.. literally had only a portable a/c recirculating old ass air. That caused a domino effect of issues. But thanks man, i appreciate it, I'll most definitely be following your grows. Any wisdom is good wisdom when it comes to horticulture 👍
It's Day 4, all of the ladies have sprouted
WCOG and GSC both have helmets, the bubba'yum doesn't. They're all doing a little Baby Groot dance 💃🏽 lol
Projected harvest date is Dec 14 (9 weeks)
