So far so good!
Soil: 1 bag FoxFarm's Ocean Forest + 2 bags of FoxFarm's Happy Frog + 2lb dry coco choir.
Seeds: FastBud's Gorilla Glue started out under a 17 watt LED plant light (2 inches away) and FastBuds Blackberry was under a 65 watt CFL (4 inches away) for the first week.
Watered with 6.3 pH adjusted distilled water via drip method (1 cup each).
These babies are movin and groovin! I love these genetics so far FastBuds! The tightness of the Gorilla Glue nodes are superb. I literally can just sit at my closet door and stare at these beautiful specimens all day. I haven't really run into any issues so far except maintaining a proper humidity %. I placed a shallow medium black dish (to attract more light/heat) next to the plants and that seems to be working fine. I'm currently running them under 300 watts MH and will turn the dial to 400 watts once adequate leaf production/ increased photosynthesis surface area is reached.😊
Started some LST this week and they seem to be responding well. Hopefully they take off this week because they seem to be behind in size in comparison to other growers growing the same FB strains.
- Fed 1/8 tsp FoxFarm Grow Big at the beginning of the week
- Decreased the distance between the light and the plant tops
- LST the GG 2 days ago with some hemp string but recently replaced it with less abrasive soft plant wire.
- Ponytailed the BB for approximately 6-8 hours a day for the past 3 days to initiate side shooting.
- I'm gonna LST the BB tonight since the GG responded so well
These girls really took off this week! I fed them FoxFarm's Grow Big and Whole Foods Blackstrap Molasses at the beginning of the week and they really responded well. Pre-flowers are in and I'll be switching from Metal Halide to High Pressure Sodium tomorrow. I've been using a quarter filled bucket of water with a black water wicking shirt to keep the humidity around 50% and it seems to be working well.
Fed them with some FoxFarm's Big Bloom and Tiger Bloom earlier this week with a touch of molasses. I finished the last bit of LST in the beginning of the week to help spread their canopies out. The GG seems to be stunted in growth a little bit but I'm finding that to be a little common among-st other diaries I've come across around this time. She's just a little more finicky or hangry then the other girls, but we'll figure this beautiful complex girl out. She's very short coming in at 15 inches compared to BB who put on over 10 inches this week (21 inches tall). BB purples are starting to really show; she's so alluring. I hope you all enjoy the pics. Much love and feel free to leave any comments/ advice. I'm already so deeply immersed into this hobby halfway through the first grow. Shout out to FastBuds; the conception of Green Crack and Rhino Ryder Diary #2 starts next week!
HELLLPPPPP
So I have been having trouble with the GG and can't seem to cure her. I wanted to know if a more experienced grower could help identify the problem and what steps to take next. She is still putting on weight in flower and is currently in her 6th week. It looks to me like she is having a cal-mag problem from my research but I'm not confident. She's been a lot of fun to grow and I wouldn't want to lose her this far along, but her leaves from the bottom up (quickly) are turning yellow with brown spots as seen in the photo (is this normal?) Blackberry on the other hand is still rocking her socks off with no problems. Thanks for your time! This week will be updated Friday or Sunday.
Gorilla Glue (16 inches) has finally been showing some signs of recovery. She'll probably only go a couple more weeks following some flushing. I hope I can still get a quality over quantity on her. The blackberry (24 inches) did some crazy color morphing over the past 2 weeks; she looks like peak autumn.
Hey guys hope everyone is enjoying the holidays. Blackberry continues to shine without a hitch fingers crossed. Check out the vids and pics on gorilla glue please. Some of her calyxis seems to be turning brown. Is this normal around harvest? I was going to harvest her probably next week, but would take her head early if I had to since she's been an on going battle. Let me know what you guys think! Much love.
She's got about 1-2 weeks left according to the trichomes. I plan on cutting her down when she's about 10-20% amber. She continues to thrive and is fox-tailing well. I've never smelled anything fruitier. The smell of her makes your mouth salivate; just straight berries. I could grow only this strain for the rest of my life and be happy. She really turns vibrant with a nice long flush.
This is NOT a plant that I would recommend for a beginner she can demand much more attention without reciprocation, which was frustrating for my FIRST EVER grow (woohoo!). She is one that I have had a little bit of trouble growing and others on this site Ive researched have had trouble growing. She is a little more sensitive to nitrogen and other nutrients yet gulps cal-mag.
Harvested on Day 70 after a 2 week flush. I just took the colas off their hangers and cut them up into their individual buds. They were hanging for about 4-5 days and have been placed in their quart-sized wide-mouth mason jars to cure. Although Gorilla Glue took up 2 jars and Blackberry took up 4, their dry weight will probably be equal. Im finding the buds to be less dense and "airier" in comparison, but Im not one to harp on density.
