Bloombuster Germination. No locks or tricks involved. I take a seed, grab a non-transparent zip-lock bag, take two clean cotton pads, moisten the pads with clean mineral water, wring them out so they’re slightly damp and not dripping, place the seed between the pads, put all of this in the zip-lock envelope, and breathe my "carbon dioxide" into it, after which I close the envelope and send it to a dry, dark place with a room temperature of 23-24°C (like a cupboard or a drawer, for example).
Two days of waiting... on the third day, the seed sprouted and showed a root, time to "plant"! 👌
From my experience — I speed up the growth by helping the little plant first get rid of its helmet and kickstart full photosynthesis processes (I don’t recommend doing this yourself if you don’t have experience with "helmet removal" because careless and inaccurate actions can harm or, even worse, kill the future plant). With the help of two clean "toothpicks," I carefully remove the helmet from the sprout. I immediately plant it in a 1-liter peat pot with a "substrate-free" substrate, specifically "Ugro Pure Superior," which contains 80% pure coconut fiber, 5% perlite, 5% bat guano, 5% endomycorrhiza, and 5% biohumus. This substrate contains enough nutrients for 2 weeks of the sprout's life, but I plan to feed the little plant already in the second week of life, and it will eat very well — a prophecy 😇. Closer to the third or fourth week, I will transplant the little plant into a 30-liter "Smart Pot," but for now, we gather patience and just wait.
I water the first week without fertilizers, but with well "acidified" water, pH 5.5, PPM 200. Watering, as usual, at the beginning of the light cycle, and the cycle is set to 20/4.
I plan to grow a true ✊king💪 of Afghanistan. Af*KING*gooey.
Hail Selassie! Rastafari!

Bloombuster This week, I'm introducing the plant to nutrients. In the first weeks of life, the plant actively increases its root mass to avoid future shortages of moisture and nutrients. To stimulate root growth, I use G.H.E. Root Plus, and I’ll also use it for spraying the leaves before turning off the lights (foliar feeding) in the third week of vegetative growth. Watering with 150 ml of solution per day. The "compote" - which is the "solution" - I make with mineral nutrients from the same company - G.H.E. (Flora), but I use ph DOWN from another company - Growth Technology ph down, which contains 81% orthophosphoric acid (H3PO4) - a very aggressive substance! To "acidify" hard water with a pH of 8.3 down to 5.5 pH, it takes about 3 drops per liter, but with soft water 6.8<pH<7.5, it gets trickier - literally, just one drop per liter will bring the compote down to about 4 pH. I check the pH and ppm readings with electronic testers, calibrating them each time before mixing the compote.
In the second week, the plant has transformed, it’s grown a bit, and I already know that the transplant into 30 liters will happen next week (towards the end) - I’ve already picked a day according to the lunar calendar. Everything is going well, the plant is feeding and looks attractive. 👌

Bloombuster On the third week, the plant grew a bit, and by the end of the week, it was transplanted into a "Smart Pot" filled with 25 liters. I connected a drip irrigation system to prevent substrate washout (I made the irrigation system myself from a 10-liter tank and 5mm tubes). While in the previous weeks the plant was growing in "room" conditions inside a repurposed PC case, now it's in completely different conditions and it's a bit "chilly" for it; I will definitely address heating in the 4th week. In the third week, I started spraying the plant at the beginning of the night cycle - for foliar feeding, I give 3 milliliters of GHE Root Plus in 1 liter of clean water.
The lighting is also made by me - handmade) It includes an aluminum plate with heat sink fins and active cooling - two 120mm fans (900 rpm), the plate size is 12*40 centimeters, thickness about 2.5 millimeters. The LED matrices have a warm white glow from Citizen: 3500k(50w); 3000k(50w); 3000k(100w) - all matrices are connected to individual drivers from Mean Well - efficiency around 91-93%. At a distance of 80 centimeters from the plant, the lamp provides about 33000 lux (I’m attaching a photo of the lux meter readings), and the 90-degree glass lenses installed on the matrices played an important role in this. The plant handled the transplant well - it's developing, albeit slowly, in these conditions. 😊

Bloombuster By the 4th week, the air temperature issue has been resolved, but the humidity at this stage is not high enough. However, I'm not going to worry about it; genetics like Afghani can withstand a lot, not to mention some humidity 😎.
On day 25, I trimmed the top, and on day 28, I took off everything on the sides. The plant is quickly recovering from such mega-stress and continues to develop. The nutrient mix is a bit richer; I keep adding G.O. Root Plus for further rooting, and I'm also continuing the "foliar feeding" as soon as the lights go out. We're growing up, down, and sideways! 😁
The stem is increasing in diameter, and the remaining two branches will be its continuation and will soon reach impressive sizes 😇. After that, there will be another round of defoliation and topping of these still small branches. Everything is going well; let's keep moving forward! 👌

Bloombuster On the fifth week, the main branches have increased in diameter and the active growth phase has started, the compote is a bit "thicker", and the acidity is at the same level - 5.6ph. I tried bending the branches with LST - they don't really give in at this thickness, but I managed to slightly "spread" them. Each branch already has several pairs of branches with very short internodes of 1-1.5 cm, and we're growing further. Next week, a SCROG net will be installed, and we'll shape the Afghan into a green carpet, we'll perform defoliation, and most likely, in the same - 6th week, another "topping" of our main branches, but I might keep their tips. The leaves are very "fleshy" and dense. It's the last week of the plant's rooting, after which we won't add G.O. Root Plus to the watering, but will use it only for spraying the leaves when the lights are off - foliar feeding throughout the entire vegetative stage. The plant looks very attractive and healthy! Everything is going well 👌, we're gaining mass! 💪😇

Bloombuster Week 6 of veg has seriously highlighted the potential of Afgooey - it's developing really well, with very short internodes and very dense leaves, resembling more of a farmer's market salad - green meat! I'm really liking the pace of growth and green mass accumulation - I did some defoliation (removed 10 developed fan leaves), set up SCROG, and decided not to trim the side branches - I want to keep them, as I feel that the yield will be 10-20% higher with them anyway than if I trimmed them. The mix is a bit "thicker," slightly increasing the plant's nutrient uptake - I raised the solution's pH to 5.7.
I'm very satisfied with the chosen strain and already looking forward to pre-flower, but there's still 1-2 weeks to go, so I'm stocking up on patience and bending the plant under the net, spreading the internodes sideways, pushing the "fan leaves" down, and the young shoots up, closer to the light. I took a few photos with an open aperture - they turned out very mysterious, sharing the photos and impressions with you!
Thanks to everyone who stops by to read and appreciate! It means a lot to me! 👍

Bloombuster By the 7th week, the plant already has 24 secondary branches and 2 main colas, with a stem diameter of 3.5-4cm, lots of foliage, and a bunch of offshoots. The concentration of the mix is the same as in the 6th week, just in a larger volume. A characteristic smell has appeared in the box, and the humidity has increased by 5%, thanks to the fact that the little one is now mature and is breathing very actively, evaporating moisture from the surface of its leaves. The girl has already occupied almost the entire horizontal space of the box and will soon start filling the box vertically; just one more week and I’ll switch to flowering. This week, nothing too fancy - I bent the plant under the net, pushing the developed leaves down and the young shoots up - closer to the light. When the lamp is off - shower - foliar feeding with G.O. Root Plus. At the beginning of next week, I plan to do some defoliation, and by the end of the week, I’ll switch to pre-flowering in terms of light cycle and feeding. The plant is very well developed, has a dark green shade, especially at the tips of the leaves - it looks healthy and very attractive! 😇

Bloombuster Week 8 - the last week of the plant's vegetative stage and transition to pre-flowering, we're adding the growth stimulator Bio Bloom at 0.2ml/L. By the end of the week, I set the lighting to 16/8, feeding for pre-flowering - in the nutrient solution, we increase the concentration of phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, and sulfur. By the beginning of pre-flowering, the plant has 32 branches grown from two main colas. 💪
The plant is developing well and looks great! 👌

Bloombuster The plant has entered the phase of active pre-flowering, with flowering developing all over the bush. Lighting is 16/8. Watering is 2 liters/day. Partial defoliation was done at the beginning of week 57 and at the end of week 63, removing a total of 50 fan leaves - big leaves, the plant shows no visible stress and continues to grow actively, filling all available space. I'm trying to bend it under the net, increasing potential yield. The compost is more concentrated, we drink 2 liters a day, watering as usual at the beginning of the light cycle. The plant is very strong, with thick branches and a giant, wide, split trunk. At this stage, I'm very satisfied with the topping and mainlining techniques - the bush receives perfect lighting in all areas, with proper placement under the net. Moving forward - the King of Afghanistan will soon show its first flowers. 💪

Bloombuster Watering during flowering, the crown is formed - I'm giving vertical growth, I've significantly reduced the nitrogen concentration in the solution, and if it runs low, the plant will borrow it from the existing leaves. The thickness of the stem is 3 cm. Mineral Magic - I don't mix it with the solution, but sprinkle it in the watering spots, based on the volume of the solution, I sprinkle 0.4 grams per liter. So, when watering with 2.5 liters, I sprinkle 1 gram of Mineral Magic into the substrate. I've raised the lighting, there's 20 centimeters left to the ceiling of the tent. Next week, the plan is - defoliation, raising the net, LST, and removing unpromising branches. The plant looks happy - I'm satisfied! 😇

Bloombuster This week I had to work on the plant, removing 50 large leaves and 20 unpromising branches. On day 72 without watering - before bending on day 73, to avoid breaking the branches. I pinched all the runaway branches using the HST method, just without bending. The plant is very strong, recovers from stress very quickly, and continues to grow intensely on the same day, giving off a fruity smell. We drink 3 liters of compote a day 😇
Everything is going according to plan. 👌

Bloombuster At the beginning of the week, the plant was a bit down, I suspect it's a cal-mag deficiency since I'm using osmosis water. I lowered the pH, but the rust is progressing. In the middle of the week, there was a light defoliation of the middle leaf node, I didn't touch the leaves on top.
I think it could be a slight deficiency problem but being so far into flowering I wouldnt worry about deficiencies however 28 degrees is a bit warm and could be causing stress which will maybe reduce the final yields I'd say give it one more week but perhaps try to lower the temp somehow
Bloombuster Flushing for 4 days, just FloraKleen. After that - 3 days without light (72 hours) and I'm cutting. It has the smell of ripe mandarin, very sweet! 😅 Afgooey is ready for harvest! 👍👌

Bloombuster Very interesting journey to the harvest, I'm satisfied with the result and the effect of the harvest! The greedy king Afgooey was greedy all the way - devouring nutrients, drinking water, filling up space, demanding attention, and wanting more. In the end, he was a bit stingy with the yield, but every gram is worth the effort! The strong genetics of the plant showed its best side, I'm grateful to the entire Strain Hunters team for the opportunity to grow such plants and to the whole Green House Seeds team for their help in promoting such strains! 👏 A special thanks to the GD team for the chance to communicate and exchange information with other growers, for the contests, and for promoting the idea of farming! 👏 I'm very thankful to everyone who read my diary and supported me! 👏 Although the harvest isn't as big as I dreamed, it's still very good - 188 grams of buds and 6 grams of kief. 😇 👋
@Stoneymelony, Thank you, bro, for your kind words and wishes! If I have the opportunity in the next 6 months, I will definitely inform you! Glad to meet you! 👍
Wow, this is the best diary I've read so far. And the photos not only show love but I see them as art - these photos are so beautiful! This is art!
It may be a long time until the harvest, but it definitely seems worth it. Thank you for the great photos and for sharing your experience!
@Rambazamba, thank you so much, bro! I'm really glad that many people like it, I put a lot of effort into each photo and I really enjoy growing, improving my skills, sharing experiences, and reading such nice comments from you all! 👍 Thanks for noticing, big hug to you! 👋
@Bloombuster,
Sure thing.
With some, it's more about showing off how big everything is and not paying much attention to the photos.
I was already thinking about getting a camera to take nicer pictures.
I tried a lot of different ladies and every time I try to optimize something a bit - the focus is more on the ladies than on keeping the diary here :-)
Hi bro! 🤝 It blooms for a long time. Elevated levels of nitrogen in the soil. Leaves are too dark and glossy. This is due to the high level of nitrogen. Almost on the edge. Therefore, it is difficult to bloom.
100 bucks tip: don't feed Flora Grow anymore. Flora Micro already has nitrogen in it and there is more nitrogen than in Flora Grow.
Flora Grow: nitrogen in compounds (N) .. 3.0% (1.0% ammonia nitrogen, 2.0% nitrate nitrogen).
Flora Micro: Nitrogen in compounds (N) .. 5.0% (1.5% ammonia nitrogen, 3.5% nitrate nitrogen).
There is an unwritten law. Better less than more. Better underfeeding than overfeeding. Especially nitrogen in the pre-flow. There may be a blockage of phosphorus in the future. Generally try to feed 75% of the manufacturer’s dose. This applies to all fertilizers of the GHE line. Approximately 1ml / liter for Micro.
You have a beautiful plant. I hope everything will continue to be so. Good Luck! 🤜 🤛
@Master_weeda, thanks for the congratulations, bro! I'm really glad that my work was noticed and appreciated, I put a lot of effort and resources into showing other participants afgooey the way I grew it. 👌 Thanks again, bro! 👋 Hugs! 👋
@Bloombuster, thank you for your kind words. Dutch passion did make a blog about my dairie auto lemon kix, on their website so also verry happy over here, got some free seeds as well !!
@ACIDCHARLY, I’m going to “attach” it in every possible way, the main thing is that it doesn’t run away, let the tent tear 😄, today I cut off the top, photos will come a bit later with the 4th week. By the way, I’m growing with mycorrhiza for the second time - I immediately invested in a quality ready-made substrate - I don’t regret it one bit!
@Bloombuster, I had some glomus (from Rastea) somehow jump from the bag pot with the roots to a fallen leaf and devoured it....bwahaha....))) the raw mycorrhiza works unnoticed, but you can only chop the stems or use pruning shears for branches 😘
@Bloombuster, 8 weeks is definitely not short)) But it's really cool when you have the time and space.)) I have 3-4 weeks, but not much space. The longest was Orange Bud - 1.5 months. I wish you success, your approach is solid, I think you can convert it into a yield! I also love these genetics, because sometimes I suffer from spasmodic pain. I grew Afghan from World of Seeds a while ago.
@ACIDCHARLY, bro 0.36 square, under the whole height of about 1.5 meters in the box. Thank you, I will try to do “fire”, experience is. By the way, bro, I suffer from spasmatic pains for more than 20 years, only this helps to feel healthy and enjoy life! 😍
@Bloombuster, I have something similar in scale, but with HPS and supplemental lighting. The method is certainly interesting. Long Veg and working with the canopy. Cheers to our health!))
@Bloombuster, I have a bag of sugar leaves sitting in the freezer in a vacuum-sealed bag... I just can't find the time to break them up and sift through them )))
Hi, bro! 🤝 I wanted to warn you that you had a lot of nitrogen, but there were no claws and thought it was not critical yet. But apparently, nitrogen still blocked access to phosphorus. But then again, at this stage, this is not critical.
@Harmar, thank you, bro! but the manufacturer assumes the possibility of high doses and their plant withstands. Dark ends on the sheets - a feature of the variety, this is stated in the characteristics of the stretch. It's 19 weeks and the harvest. 😊
