These girls really put on a show and put out a large, potent yield w/ big, fluffy buds. It felt effortless and I would grow this again, 100%. Heavy Caryo and Mercene making both girls very, very pungent. Happy with the genetics, the grow and the end game. All in all a winner for me and my needs. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a classic indie w/ high resin production, that'll put you down and help you relax, eat and sleep. Big thumbs up for this strain and the genetics: 1: *Update* After 10 day cure, buds are becoming noticeably sweeter smelling and tasting. Very nice.

Reviews. Nutrient
Honestly, GHE is a hell of a product, it served me very well and this is a non-bias review of the actual nutrients. It's relatively pricey but it did a great job and carried the girls very well. However, I will be moving on from GHE to another, more planet friendly company. There is still product left and will be used up or given away, but this is the end for me and GHE purchases. Oh, the pH down is low rated because it's a bare bones liquid that they ask far too much for. Floralicious and Diamond nectar are quality but also over-priced.
Love it. No issues at all with Botanicare yet. Wouldn't hesitate to pick up more of their line. Pricey product, but one bottle looks like it'll carry me through 4-5 grows.
Wanted to rate 4.5 so I averaged it with a 4 and 5. I'm starting to really like Emerald Harvest. I started using both these additives later then recommended and I have nothing to compare them too, but they did visibly work and put out the results they advertise. After grow #3 I'll have a much firmer grasp on their functionality. I do recommend, though, the King Kola is pricey and the doses are high...
Whether or not you believe in flushing, if you have excess salts you need to drop, this works. There is no doubt that Flawless will drop your ppm's quickly and proof of that can be found in all 3 of my diaries. 5/5 for sure. It does what it's supposed to do, doesn't require much and isn't crazy expensive.

Welcome to the End Everyone! Holy smokes, that's the ball game folks. This was a great ride and both girls gave me far more then I could have imagined. All the changes to methods and techniques, all the changes to nutrients and supplement additions, and the inclusion of the SF-2000 has made for two very large and heavy yielding girls. It isn't and can never be perfect, but growing these two was a very rewarding and satisfying journey. Now we're at the end, they have given me their fruit, taught me new lessons and been a treat to have around.😃 **Let's get to the numbers:**(Note: LARF and milled flower weights were halved when calculating final totals in the "Outcome" portion of this entry. I do not personally count excess LARF and milled flower as whole bud. This is only a personal preference. The numbers listed below are the full numbers weighed, but are different/higher then the final "Outcome") Northern Lights #1: -Whole bud- 98 grams (3.5 ounces) -Milled Flower- 52 grams (1.86 ounces) Northern Lights #2 -Whole Bud- 88 grams (3.14 ounces) -Milled Flower- 49 grams (1.75 ounces) Totals: -Whole Bud- 186 grams (6.64 ounces) -Milled Flower- 101 grams (3.60 ounces) NL #1, Jar #1- 35 Grams (1.25 ounce) NL #1, Jar #2- 30 Grams (1.07 ounce) NL #1, Jar #3- 33 Grams (1.17 ounce) NL #2, Jar #1- 30 Grams (1.07 ounce) NL #2, Jar #2- 29 Grams (1.03 ounce) NL #2, Jar #3- 29 Grams (1.03 ounce) NL #1, Milled Flower, Jar #1- 43 Grams (1.53 ounce) NL #2, Milled Flower, Jar #2- 40 Grams (1.42 ounce) NL #1 & #2, Milled Flower, Jar #3-18 Grams (.64 ounce) YES! Yes a hundred times, man. I couldn't be happier to see these massive numbers, especially at this quality and potency. It's always about quality, first and foremost, but I was looking to seriously up my yield in order to really carry myself and my needs. It seemed to have paid off/worked and these plants average yield is triple that of a single GG#4 from grow #1. Unbelievable😃. Bonus; the tent and all equipment has been paid off after this haul and half of this grow was money in the bank. From here on out, just power and supplies (as needed) and it's all money in the bank. The feeling of not being dependent on tonnes of sub-par medicinal or recreational cannabis is a huge relief. Table of Contents: Week #1- Full Equipment Lists week #7- Keeping Notes and Records Week #10- Low RH, Cold Weather and Cheap/Free Remedies Week #12- Praying and "Soil Priming" Week #13- Pruning and Defo in Flower. The 'Myth' Week #16- Flushing Experiment and Procedure Week #17- Flushing Update #1 & #2 Week #18- Final Flushing Notes and Final Thoughts **Grow #1 Vs. Grow #2** Long story short, in Grow #1 I was really hesitant to push the envelope in any way. I used a basic Nutrient Trio and Cal-Mag. I didn't do anything but what the schedule told me and I usually only applied 3/4's of the recommended dose. I was walking on egg shells and scared to hurt/kill them. They continued to look healthy and put out a great product, but it was clear that a lot of changes had to be made. The yield wasn't there and if I was to grow my own, to carry me and my family between grows, I needed to up these numbers, man. This was my mission and I made a lot of those changes. Below are most all the methods/techniques/nutrients/additives/equipment used to increase these numbers over my first go. 1. Nutrients/Supplements/Additives Grow #1: -Standard GHE Flora Series Trio & Cal/Mag 0-0-2 by manufacture's recommended doses, or less Grow #2: -Standard GHE Flora Series Trio & Cal/Mag 0-0-2 at full dose, advanced schedule -Introduction of Humic/Fulvic Acids (Diamond Nectar), Molasses (Floralicious Plus), Potassium Silicate (Sturdy Stock), a PK Booster (King Kola), Root Stim #1 (n/a) and Gaia Green 2-16-0 Bone Meal 2. Medium Grow #1: -First 3 gallons, Fox Farm's Ocean Forest. Last 2 Gallons, Dutch Treat w/ perlite conditioner (Soil was under conditioned and had high water retention) Grow #2: -All 5 gallons a 50/50 mix of Canna Terra (Peat moss for aeration) and Dutch Treat w/ 1:10 ratio of perlite added. (Sorry could breath, feeds could be applied faster and water logging was no longer an issue) 3. Lighting Grow #1: -Single 245 Watt, Blurple LED by Phlizon. (Specs in week #1 of this diary) Grow #2: -Addition of Spider Farmer-2000 Quantum Board LED for vegetation and both the SF and Blurple used in tandem for Bloom. (Larger output, higher PPFD rating and adequate footprint) 4. Environment Grow #1: -Held an almost constant 70% RH and 26-28 degree Celsius in Veg and 50% RH and 24-26 degrees Celsius in Bloom -Light cycle held at 24/0 for the entire grow Grow #2: -Held an almost constant 55-60% RH and 24-26 degrees Celsius in Veg and 30-45% RH and 21-24 degrees Celsius -Light cycle at 24/0 for seedlings and moved down to 20/4 roughly 3 weeks into Veg. 5. Training Grow #1: -Topped multiple sections, trained out, ran out of room and by the end they were not very sturdy and needed to be propped up with ribbon/yoyos Grow #2: -Topped the main once and once only. All other tops accomplished w/ LST. Additional bamboo sticks and strapping were planned ahead of time and by end game they carried themselves very well even with far more weight then the first go. 6. Trimming/Pruning Grow #1: -Did very little trimming, pruning or Defo. Was uncertain and this was more of a natural grow. Many, many tops with finite product on each Grow #2: -Planned for 8-10 Mains, max and pruned to accomplish this. I was not as hesitant to prune and defo as needed to help larger cola sites flourish. Achieved the 8-10 tops on both. Less LARF, easier trimming, more product, big win😃 So! That's the end of er'. I'd like to thank EVERYONE that has supported this project and helped me along at every little step...or misstep. There's too many to name individually and I'm positive if I attempted too, I would miss some very key people. So instead, if you're in the thread down below or you've checked in to help in PM, whether it was just to say hello, give a thumbs up or advice, I appreciate's allllll of you and I wouldn't have these successes without you. Glasses up to all of you. On a special note, there is someone I'd like to specifically call out and thank for all they have done for me. @Mrs_Larimar has been a beacon of knowledge, advice and a positive attitude in my grow experience. The large majority of changes I made (*see above) were from her direct guidance. So, just the biggest frigging thank you to you, Mrs_Larimar. I see her all over this site helping other new comers, ushering them into a lifelong and rewarding hobby/passion. I don't know where she finds the time....but Cheers to that: 1: Thank you all. I truly appreciate everything you've done for me and taught me. There's a lot more to know and a far ways to go, but with the solid set of contacts I've made on here, I'm positive my future endeavors will be fruitful. I feel like I have a great inner circle of like-minded people and I'm not going anywhere😊. Cheers everyone.

So, I'm getting an upgrade! Moving from the blurple LED to the spider farm sf1000 or sf2000. For those of you that own this lighting series what would you recommend for a 4x4x6.5' tent with four plants. Is the core spread in the sf1000 adequate or is the 2000 what I want? Thanks!

Hi , the 1000 is great for 2x2, the 200o is recommended for 2x4 and the sf 4000 for 5x5... so i would go with 2 times the SF-2000...... in my opinion its better to have 2lights you are more floexible then.....https://www.ebay.de/itm/233373782657 Less Light for such a big tent may be not enough for flower. for vegetation one light should be enough butafter that You need another Sf-200 to get good results

This question isn't related to this specific grow. I'm hoping to find someone who knows how and/or about grafting/splicing cannabis plants and if it's feasible. Where would I even start if I would like to pursue a project like this??? Non-Google responses please!

Hi Jinks I grown up in a village and my grand dad used to have vine yards. Exactly what he did was using the big root system and the strongest branches from new growth of the grape. Planted another type in it to spread two types off grape from one big main root system. And this is a close way some grapes have been modified and probably still modified today. He looked for similar sized branches for a mum and the baby. He used just cutting the branches at 45 degrees angle and tide up both ends mum and baby with electrical tape and with extra 2 support sticks along both Baby and mum where they are connected, with tape again in 2/3 weeks you should have all one branch. For humidity and warmth to be kept inside he put around cloth and moisture it little daily. That's a 80s method and I don't see a reason it won't work on Photoperiod Marijuana. Hope this helps and good luck with grafting some beauty. Happy Growing

What's a good way too fast dry cannabis samples (used for testing impurities) without totally destroying the bud? Any methods besides microwave or oven! Thanks all!👌

Sometimes I pull off a sample bud and place it next to a small fan on low. Unless it's a really dense bud you can usually have it dried in about 24 hours. It wont have the smooth flavor that cured bud will have but it does the job. Another option is water curing. I documented my water curing on my cherry bomb diary. I did 7 days but have read accounts of people getting great results from a 3 day soak. The water cured buds dry super fast too so you can have them ready to smoke in 4 days.

If your PlantS are praying... its the best you can get, it means they are in very good constitutuion and feeding....// worst thing is hanging leaves, standing horizontal is good. Praying is perfect......................................... Be prepared for 2 or 3 more weeks of stretch, that means she has needs in Nitrogen P.s. how many fingers do the Leaves have=?

@Mrs_Larimar, indeed this is true. They look healthy. Thanks for the input. I think there is a name in botany for that praying, I mean, when it is not bleaching... but I forgot. =)

@amazongrow, you always have to look on the whole picture. In jinks case shes healthy and well fed. If a plant is close to the light, prays and leaves are cupping and belaching the top leaves its bad...... the plant has a few things to say whant is good for her and what is bad. you have to look for the whole plant... and the envoirement JInks plants are healthy,,, ists just the new grow that is lighter.... he got 9 fingered leaves too thats a very good sign. i just want to say you got to look on everything not just the praying
amazongrow

@Mrs_Larimar, isn't praying and yellowing of new top leaves a sign of too much light? "The leaves closest to the light may appear much more pale than the rest of the plant, and tips may turn yellow." - https://www.growweedeasy.com/cannabis-plant-problems/light-burn Just wondering. Im up with the same here. Got the lights down.

@MovingOn, Wow, this comment is a month old😬. OOPS! Sorry man. I 100% agree man. I like showcasing those eff up's too. Gives ammo to others to hopefully! avoid the same mistakes. And let's be honest (and you were) we're not the greatest, lol. It's a life long endeavor that will have plenty of speed bumps and I feel it's best to be up front about it. I think my entries are probably a bit too long... but I know for a fact it has helped some people and that was the whole point😊. Cheers man and thank you for your kind words. Keep spreading the word and sharing to the extent you do👊

@JinksyGrows, haha, woohoo! That makes me glad because that is my intention - to pass on to others a way of teaching. It isn't that I think I'm the greatest, I think I am far far far away from the greatest. I just think that it is important to pass on all the information we know to each other, and even more important to pass on the ways to relay the information effectively. That's also why I like to keep my errors in the journals too, my mistakes help others avoid them.

@MovingOn, I had no idea this comment was here buddy. Apologies! And thank you Phil... Don't know if you know this, but I was watching your grows from the very beginning and it was your thorough documentation that attracted me there. I was super new and needed to read through thorough processes in order to refine on my end. You are kinda the inspiration for how and why I write my entries dude, for real😀. So, this compliment here means a lot. It appears I accomplished what I set out to do, since it was yourself I had been emulating. Thank you Phil. You're a gem buddy.

OMG! Your not going to flush? It's your grow brother. You can read 100 opinions they will be different. If they can't prove through high tech lab results as to heavy metal and nutrient contents of the buds your smoking it's all a bunch of stoner opinions. You will notice during the later stages of bloom your plants slow down how many nutrients they are using from your soil. Personally I check my runoff every week and adjust feedings or waterings. Seems like most nutrient manufacturers taper down nutrient ppm during the last stages of bloom. Once you in the ripening stage it's simply just waiting for your buds to get to a point that meets your taste. Some growers using all organics nutes claim no need to flush. Coco and hydro very little flushing is needed. To accurately make a judgement call on the flush no flush deal you would need to use clones and a number of plants including a control group all growing under exact conditions. If not it's just opinions. A lot of commercial growers don't flush or cure it's all about weight and cranking out as many harvests as possible. Go to Oregon Department of Agriculture web site and look up your nutrients to see what your pouring in your pots you may change your mind when your done. I guess do what ever works best for you.
Philindicus
Philindicus
@JinksyGrows, try this link. http://oda.state.or.us/dbs/heavy_metal/search.lasso you will be surprised whats in or not in your nutrients. A lot of nute companies don't list a lot of stuff that's in their products like plant growth regulators but it's in there. Even some companies advertising beneficial Bacteria counts/ Mycos and species are coming up way short.
JinksyGrows
JinksyGrows
@Philindicus, Howdy Phil. Thank you for stopping by and for the information. I 100% agree with you that this will not be a definitive test of whether to flush or not to flush. I'm hoping this will be the beginning of a much larger experiment in terms or when/what and how to flush, while maintaining plant health, potencies and yields. This is just kinda my little test to prove some things to myself, good or bad. I have a contingency plan in place to test and save the girls just in case my notions (or accumulated salts) are too high and my short flush window too short. The way I will be testing these two girls will be laid out in Week 16, just before I start the process and schedule I've chosen to put them on. Multiple reads and tests will be taken from both throughout this process to show differences in PPM fluctuations and/or pH changes in the soil. The main goal now, is not to give a hard "Yes" or "No" on whether or not to flush, but rather the parameters and conditions behind the reasons why we "Should" or "Shouldn't" consider it. The issue is the "Black and white" of it all. But nothing about Cannabis growing (I've found) is so simple. There are always outside sources, schedules, types of nutrients used, mediums, etc.. that can/will effect the final product. This experiment pertains to only two plants that have received the exact feedings, dosing and schedule from day one of germination and will only cover their specific conditions, standing alone, as two plants. It will not reflect a hard "yes or no" answer to the question or cover any one else's specific circumstances. I will lay it all out, numbers and all, then perform this tiny test and see what happens. I will NOT be making any claims or statements about flushing, to either discourage or promote it. I will only show my results and have the community consider the idea of experimenting with their own plants to help bring them to their full potential. I currently use GHE and it's all synthetic but am interested in the Oregon website you put up, to see exactly what's in there and what could cause an issue with excess salts or bad bud tastes in the final product👍. Thank you for giving me that info. Did not know about this site option. And I grow cannabis because I don't like commercial grower practices. I am fully aware that many of them don't give a shit and it's all production, production, production. Whether or not the product is actually good, they will push it out the door. I know, I've tasted it and it's large majority, sub-par crap... Retail cannabis was so bad I had to start growing my own. That says volumes about their lack of competency and/or care for the product or cannabis users. Just a money train, and I'm happy to see some of these giants getting their ass kicked by the market. They will fail. Ah, that was long. Sorry Phil. But thank you for dropping by man and giving me your two cents. I am trying to go about this in a way that won't hurt myself or anyone else. Especially when it comes to false or muddy information. When I move on next weeks entry, before the test, I will clearly state all of these things as a disclaimer and that this is only specific to this grow and to these two girls👌 Cheers dude! If you have more you want to talk about, or advice you have for me, drop me a line in PM? Thanks man!😉👍
